Bbsan
Hey Guys, Awesome project! I just ordered the PCBs from JLC and now I'm trying to get the parts... Any idea if there's another socket that can be used instead of SM10B-SRSS-TB (J1)? Even on AliExpress they are as expensive as the CPLD itself. Also - which Programmer to get best that is not too expensive?

BillTheGoat
Forgive me for the stupid question as I've been out of the original Xbox scene for a long time. I have a Xecuter 3 with the Xecuter 3294 bios flashed on it. Can the open xenium chip take the 3294 bios or is something else recommended?
SS_Dave
The OpenXenium can not have the X3-3294.bin as thats the OS for the X3 chip. The Bios you use is really up to you, I use the evox M8plus Bios in most of my Xbox build's Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod. There is an earlier version that's been modded to allow it to work on other modchips but X3 Config Live cannot be used - one of the whole points of having the X3 modchip and X3 BIOS. The Xenium OS, XOS, 2.3.1 has a similar feature set to that of the X3 BIOS.

Noomi
Hi, and thanks for your efforts! My Openxenium chip in nice white is in the mail. I do not know if you are the right guy to ask but what happens in between installation and the os? Let me clarify: Im going to install the chip in my original 1.4 xbox using the installation guide found here: https://openxenium.com/diagrams-%26-manuals The next document is just a user manual for the Xenium OS as i understand. I this the correct way to do it all? 1. Install chip 2. Run for example Hexen 2019 to format my new drive and install dashboard(s) 3. Done and good to go\ for ftping games and so on? Sounds about right as long as the seller has but a BIOS on the chip. Cheers SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod. Noomi
Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. Yup, thats my understanding as well. If there is no BIOS on it I will have to put that on it myself. Cheers.
SS_Dave
The Bios files can be added from the OpenXenium menu and you can but a bios on a small USB to transfer to the OpenXemium Chip. Dempsey_86
I did install a open xenium mod chip in my 1.6 xbox. Everything works but I have a question where I cant find an answer to it. Do I need to cut the lframe trace on the motherboard? Or is this not required with this mod chip? The github page says this: "I also simulate the LFRAME abort mechanism (Ref Intel LPC Interface Spec Rev 1.1 Section 4.3.1.13) for a v1.6 console to prevent the Xyclops responding to the MCPX LPC Memory Read requests during boot (and conflicting with an external LPC memory peripheral). This is generally accepted to be better than shorting LFRAME the ground constantly which some traditional LPC memory addons do." Does it mean I don't have to cut it? SS_Dave
If you have wired the D0 to the Open Xenium you don't need to worry about cutting the Lframe trace. Laminatesnow
So, a while ago, I was in an OGXbox facebook group, and a member posted this video: I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on what this is about, or tell me where I can follow this project? This was the only documentation that I could find about the project...
