About Me

  1. I wonder if it's a RAM compatibility issue or indicating definitely damaged RAM IC? Does anyone know the max temp the RAM ICs are rated for? I am working with a 1.4 revision board and an OpenXenium which should be booting straight to XBlast. I haven't seen much info anywhere about a solid green LED in the process of a RAM upgrade. However when I've got a chip installed it power cycles twice then goes to solid green LED but no video and the OpenXenium LED is yellow whereas if XBlast were to have booted the OpenXenium LED would be green. The board has default K4D263238D-QC50 and I have tested adding K4D263238M-QC50 (salvaged from a 1.0 revision board) and K4D263238F-QC50 (bought new on eBay but I used them). No additional RAM boots and works fine. Does the yellow LED on the OpenXenium indicate anything useful? What about the solid green LED on the console? Thanks
  2. Hello all, I am new to xbox modding. I am just trying to learn more about the software side of modding this console. I have experience modding just about every other console and am now getting into the original xbox. I've installed an openxenium mod chip, and have ordered a 2TB hdd, ide to sata converter, and 80 wire ribbon cable. I'm just trying to get a feel for what the current methods people are using as a lot of information is outdated. Thanks for reading this.
  3. Hi guys bit of a novice who gets the basics and I'm learning as I go Okay so the issue is that when I power on (power button) I get no video output with solid green ring, then when I power off(again power button) and power back on everything is fine, boots normally into XBMX Emustation and alls well. I've noticed that when I power on from the eject button it boots first time no issues. So the issue I'm trying to fix is Why do I have to power on and off again to get video? I've troubleshooted as far as my knowledge limited knowledge allows, reseated cables, checked modchip soldering etc. Its a weird one and I'm stuck here thinking its an issue with the modchip? I'd post video but I don't have the means Xbox version 1..4 Aladdin Modchip WD Blue 500gb/80 pin ide/cheap adapter/Official HD Pack
  4. I am repairing xbox 1.4 for a friend. His box is having power supply issue. There is not enough volt to run the hard drive. I used external 12v/ 5v source to power the hard drive and the system boots up fine. The dvd disk drive is also working fine as it is connected to the xbox power supply. I took the xbox power supply out and didn't notice any bad caps or bad solder joints. With everything connected and powered up ,except for the power to the hard drive I get the following voltage values. Orange = 3.3V, Blue = 3.3V, Brown =3.3V, Red = 4.48V, and Yellow = 10.5V. I tried adjust the pot and that is max i can get for red and yellow wires. Which caps do I need replace for these two voltages ? or is there something else i can check? Thanks.
  5. Recently purchased a Xbox pre modded. I thought it was soft modded but upon Futher reading it was hardmodded due to this appearing when booting the console. I stupidly yesterday tried to FTP rocky5s softmod upgrade thinking my console was softmodded. I'm unsure if it's a TSOP flash or a mod chop waiting for screw drivers to arrive from eBay now. If it was TSOP flashed is there anything I can do as after running the softmod upgrade from jrocky5 the console won't power on or make a sound to even power on. Nothing happens I still have the original Xbox HDD the console came with. The guy I bought it off gave it to me.
  6. Hey all. Sorry if this has been posted, but I searched and couldn't really find anything. I have a 1.0 Xbox that was handed to me by a friend. He said he couldn't remember much about it, but that him and his kid tried to mod it a long time ago, and now it isn't working. Upon opening it, I found a pin header, no modchip, tsop points soldered, and the underside D0 pad ripped off. When I try to start the xbox, it cycles power 3 times then frags out. I'm assuming this is due mainly to the ripped D0 trace. I've tried repairing the trace, and bridging the two pads connected by the green line, but I can't seem to get the solder to stick. Is there any other way to repair this, or is this the only way? Relatively new to xbox modding so any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!
  7. I accidentally broke my power board and tried to search a sparepart from ebay etc. with no luck. Any idea where I could get one? One of the the 1.4 revision had a a board which is little diffeferent than the one in Crystal so I didn´t try that one...
  8. Greetings everyone. Here's the situation: both my xboxes' dvd drives died. One is a thomson which receives power, but won't read the disks; then there's the philips one which doesn't even get recognized. I have one of those lg drives for pc that can be adapted to work as a new xbox dvd drive, but i miss the yellow power cable to attach it to the mobo. So my idea was to get it from the power/eject buttons. Does anybody have already attempted this and some tips?Is it even possible?(i cannot get ahold of a newcable for experimenting for cheap,so imstuck with this). My idea was to build like a couple of buttons to short the pins on the connectors on the motherboard in order to prompt the power/eject switches(don'tcare about leds, i only care of a good functioning xbox). Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi fellow kids. Just wondering if I should recap the power supply in my og Xbox?
  10. I've two 1.0 motherboard sets (ie. motherboards, controller daughterboards and power supplies) for sale. Both have clock caps removed. Both working - no issues. One of them has some clock cap damage (namely C7G6 missing). That cap (C7G6) is part of clock circuit so as long as you don't plan on bringing back the clock cap it's not used and not needed. Price for the lot: 50 Euro plus shipping (I'm in Ireland). Shipping to UK should be around 5-10 Euro max. Other EU countries - please ask.
  11. Having issues booting after an OpenXenium install on a 1.6 (using pcb). When power button is pressed, front light turns immediately from green to orange flashing, fails to power, then reboots and tries to power again with orange flashing light, then does it a third time. After the unsuccessful third try, it just completely cuts power and that's it. No flashing message, nothing at this point. Never able to get video either. Does the same thing regardless of whether drives are plugged in or not. While its trying to power on, I can see a solid red light on the chip, so I know its getting power. First time doing an Xbox mod, so hopefully this is just an issue of me being a noob. Board, power, and cables were all working before the mod. Solder points for the chip have been reflowed a couple times. I have also checked for possible solder splash, but there does not appear to be any that I can see. Traces also appear fine to me- no obvious burns or tears. Caps also appear good. Anything I miss? Maybe I need to re-check something more thoroughly? Mostly wondering what the 3x power cycle, orange light, no boot means.
  12. Hi all, I have an issue with my XBOX that doesn't power on anymore. Model: 1.2 TSOP: Yes, iND-2003 Mods: None other than removal of the clock capacitor Misc: Using the Chimeric Systems HDMI adapter (which is awesome) Yesterday I received a new modchip from eBay, the Xenium Gold with the 24K OS on it. I swapped out my old Aladdin chip and fired it up with no issues. I proceeded to add EvoxM8+, iND-2004, and XBlast on it. I tested all 3 BIOS and they all worked fine. From here I decided to do the 128mb RAM upgrade. I've successfully performed this upgrade once before. I'm using the same RAM that I purchased from eBay over a year ago that worked on my previous install on my other 1.3 XBOX: SAMSUNG 525 K4D263238F-QC50 I proceeded to solder in all the chips, but when I went to turn on the XBOX nothing happened. No light, no response, nothing. I don't ever recall hearing a pop or a snap. I double checked that I connected everything. Troubleshooting: - I thought it might be the PSU so I swapped in the working PSU from the 1.3 XBOX that I successfully did the RAM upgrade on and the same results. - The only thing I noticed was that when I pressed eject or power on either PSU, the Xenium chip LED lit up. If I held either button the LED just flashed. Other than that, no activity from the board whatsoever - One thing I noticed is that I soldered the final chip in backwards (chip 4 according to the XBlast diagram, the one closest to the ATX plug). I should have taken a break after 2 chips due to fatigue but I pushed through and I guess I wasn't paying attention. I used my hot rework station to pull the chip off and turn it around. Same results. - After this I decided to just pull the other 3 chips off to troubleshoot it from scratch, but no joy. - The repairs for power buttons I've seen after searching are mostly just the trace repairs on the 1.0/1.1. I'm not great at troubleshooting so I wouldn't know where to begin without a guide on the 1.2 XBOX. Did I fry the board somehow? Did putting the RAM in backwards just kill it? Did I ESD shock it? Did I get the iron next to something that I shouldn't have for too long and didn't notice? Here's some pics I uploaded to imgur since they're too big. I can take more photos or better photos of certain things if needed. Thanks in advance. https://imgur.com/a/iM2cj5y
  13. Hello all, So my friend dug up his old og Xbox, Been sitting on a book shelf for 10+ years. Opened it up today removed the clock capacitor and cleaned around it. While open, powered it and... significant loud pop & smoke...Unsure what caused it but are going to pull the power supply tomorrow. Anyone ever hear of this before, is my mobo damaged? Thx in advance.
  14. Does anyone know the jack size for the 6V 1A power adapter used for this thing? All the ebay sellers that have the power supply blur out the model number and overcharge.
  15. Hey everyone, It's been awhile since I have been on here and made a post, but I come baring a question about the Intec Portable Screen power supply. I recently acquired an Intec screen for my collection. Went and bought and and the guy said that it had all the cords. Well I was in a hurry when I bought it and I didn't check to make sure everything was there. After getting back home and opening the bag I noticed that I had the power cord but not the converter box that converted the power to 12 volts. My question is do you guys know of an compatible replace brick power supply that I could buy so I can test the screen out to make sure it works ok? I'm just asking because I don't want to take a chance and buy the wrong supply and possibly damage the unit. Thanks for the help everyone!!!
  16. As above I was wondering what the power requirements of the US Xbox was? I have a US xbox arriving in the next few days and was wondering what voltage and power requirements it has. I have a 100v 100VA transformer I use for my Japanese hardware but I dont know if it would be to low to run a US system? If I need 110-120v I can buy another transformer but will need to know the current/wattage as most of them are fairly low without buying a bulky one! long term I intend on swapping out the PSU inside the console with a UK one but I need to find one first! cheers.
  17. On one of my xboxs the molex coord doesn't power up HDD's I've been able to get the Xbox running by powering the HDD by using the molex connector from another Xbox to power up the HDD. Any idea on how to fix this?
  18. Zachwsays on Reddit made this nice and pretty simple little mod to turn the Xbox on and off using the controller and a memory card. Now I have to do this.... grrr!

    X2.6 V5 No Power

Hello. I bought for my collection broken xbox with old school modchip. I'm not familiar with this chip type at all, but I asume it's installed correctly. So the problem is there is no power. I replaced psu and power button assembly with no luck. Xbox is version 1.6.
  20. Hi, it's me again with another weird problem So, my friend gave me another Xbox with the following issue. When I plug in the power cable into the Xbox, the fan speed jump for about 4x highest than the normal (why it is turn on???). When I power up the Xbox, that is goes to normal speed. If I turn it off, than the speed jump to high speed again... There is no any corrosion and the capacitors in good condition... The Xbox is in original state. There is no modchip or softmod or TSOP flash. Thanks for your help!
  21. I am reposting this topic again because i think the topic was pulled down. I asked a question?, To all the owners, modder's, collector's whatever, whoever. The God knowledge CPU upgraders...ETC Why is the Power supply upgrade neglected? Come on guys make your system better than ever, the ultimate original xbox Power Is the single most vital none motherboard component in you hybrid pc game console that can be improved really easy if you wanted to. Give your system a larger deeper well of wattage to draw water from, so your system will run more efficiently then ever before because not a single watt asked for is not given to it immediately with ease of operation. Have your fan's run faster and at full speed effortlessly, Open the possibility for other hardware mods or definitely other cooling mods. Power is important, not to big ...' not to small but just the right oversized power supply, Bigger than the manufacturer's But not too big. Any flex atx will do with modification. Or heavy modification depending on what your skill set is and what equipment you have to work with. Message me with questions and i will give you my email.. Console power supplies suck. Power was limited by the space in witch the power supply had to go into at the time of current technology of consoles. Consoles are computer's dummed down. Anyway point being always and i mean always upgrade the consoles power supply first then the rest of the crap. Cpu upgrade, ram upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, cooling upgrade. Blah Blah Blah, What do all of these mods have in common? More Power consumption of the system. They are all almost worthless without the larger wattage well to draw from... Upgrade your power supplies to these amazing modded consoles. Compliment your ram upgrade, cpu, upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, etc with a better atx power supply. Any flex atx will do see my photos on mine. Also i am selling on ebay 4 fat model ps2's custom painted with a double size power supply riged in it. It runs better than ever. Despite maximum wattage use. That is based on an inadequate power supply that is small enough to fit in a compact space. Now uh days we have 1U server power supplies that deliver up to 1000 watts, Flex atx, standard 1u flex atx, tfx, sfx...ETC U name it... it exist now... Compact power punching power supplies. It just takes a little creativity and a little desire to upgrade. Remember the xbox uses a 3.3 standby mode. So you have to mod you small power supply to do this. Easy money, just get a step down transformer tiny logic board. Convert 5 volt volt stand by VSB to 3.3 VSB. USING A BUCK CONVERTER.
  22. Anyone know if this foxlink power supply can replace the delta supply in this 1.4 crystal xbox? It's making a bad noise and is probably on its last legs
  23. I installed a aladdin xt modchip and when I have the chip out of the system it powers on but when the chip is plugged in the system won't power on. Does anyone know the problem?
  24. Hi All, First, my English is khm khm not too good, but I try to explain what is the case. So, I have an Xbox Classic 1.0 which is always turn on when I connect the power cable. It is the first problem, but I can live with it (but if you have an idea why, I will say a big thanks for the answer). Okay, I soldered an Aladdin XT Plus2 in it. It works well, but somehow, the Xbox turned off itself after some minutes. I checked the processors and its cooler and the processor wasn't too hot and cooler worked well. I try to find some other problem, like capacitors or wrong traces but I do not found anything. Anyone has a good idea what can I do with it? :) I'm near to kick out it from window ;) Thank you in advance! BR: Zsolt
  25. my eject and power button led's will not power on ive tried many panels and still nothing they both work and my xbox is tsop flashed and its a version 1.0..
