I hace a 300gb IDE hard drive that I used in a sodtmodded Xbox back in the day - only realized this evening that it is locked and that I no longer have the Xbox I made it for - is there anyway to unlock it - I have softmodded xboxes lying around - would they help unlock it? Thanks

I've been on the facebook page for almost a year and a half now I just haven't moved over to here much yet. My grammar is pretty terrible, and I find it hard to explain my thoughts in the right words sometimes, but I love the original xbox and I'm always willing to help someone learn if I know something that could potentially help. I first got into modding through the xbox back around 2006 or 2007. Ruined a few until I became patient with projects, and now I currently have 13 OGs that I play around with. On the facebook page I learned a lot more than I had known before through hours of google searches. I even set up the debug mode and threw visual studio 2003 on an older tower running XP and started reading about C++. I wanted to not just be able to follow a tutorial, but understand WHY I was doing what I was doing to get to my end result. So now my goal is to move more from the hardware and aesthetic side of things and do more with coding and programming. I'd like to get into modding games on the OG since no one really seems to be modding in that way on the OG these days. I've been working on a complete reskin and remap of Halo for a couple years now, but that's all with tools like Sparkedit, HHT, and HMT. I was trying to work on Ultimate Spider-Man for a bit, but I still don't quite understand hex editing, and most forums it seems like you either know what they're talking about or you don't. My favorite go to game on the OG lately has been Jedi Academy, i've played through it probably 10 times this month already lol. So even though these games are still great, if you play them a lot they start to get old. I'd like to breathe new life into some of my old favorites. That's the goal anyway

Hi, I upgraded my xbox to a 1TB sata drive but I can only see 123gb. I understand I need to update the bios on the modchip I have which I believe is an Xecuter 2.3 lite. I tried using Hexen to upgrade to x2.4981 but I get the message !!Flash Not Writeable!! This happens if I have the switch set to protect or unprotect, Bank 1 or Bank 2. I downloaded a copy of x2.5035 so I could go with that version outside of Hexen, but I don't know how to do that. Please could someone assist me. Thank you.

have a v1 xbox with a bricked motherboard now. So now I need a way to rescue the game saves off the drive. the xbox had two drives with unleashx , the original 8gb and a 120gb copy. will need a way to unlock it via pc and without knowing what the original password was that i assume the motherboard had

Hi, I have XBMC running as my main dash. In the UnleashX dash which I can load to from the file explorer, there is a XBMC heading that doesn't work, to get it to load XBMC do I just load a XBMC xbe and cfg to the C or E partition? Thanks in advance. G

Hello, I have been playing OG Xbox since it was new, I recently sold my Xbox 1S as the newer games are too realistic and give me massive anxiety attacks, so I dug my old OG Xbox out of storage and dusted it off. I forgot how much I love the "Duke" controller it is one of the most comfortable controllers I have ever used. some of the Xbox games don't respond well to it, so I have two of the more modern smaller controllers for games like Rainbow Six, or Halo. Lately I have been playing Morrowind and Ninja Gaiden Black. my collection of Xbox games is only 34 right now, but I have a list of about a dozen more to reach what I had when I was a kid. Call me a collector I guess. Anyways, Hellllo, looking forward to being a member here.

While tinkering with my Ndure softmodded Xbox, I have managed to mess something up with the files on the hard drive. I now get error 21. I'm not too concerned as I was sure to back up the eeprom. What I would like to do is use something like xboxhdm to build a new hard drive but have the softmod files included when the hard drive was being built. This way I simply put the hard drive in and I dont have to go through the process of softmodding all over again as it was included when I built the hard drive. From there I will probably just go ahead and TSOP flash the Xbox to make any future issues easier to deal with. What would be the easiest way to do something like this?

Ok I want to install my x3 that is on 1.6 board to a 1.0 board the problem is that the modchip has all the bios flashed to 1.6 is it possible for me to reflash the bios to work on the 1.0 board don’t want to mess anything up

Hello, I've been in the scene loosely for years now. One of our local game shops shut down recently, and left his "bad" Xbox collection with a friend of mine. So, as a part of a deal I modded an Xbox and left one unmolested. As for my end, I received 4 of them, and they seem to work fine. I figured I would reach back out into the community to see if anything has changed. The modded Xbox has a 300gb drive in it to start with, and will stay that way until he gets tired of the smaller drive. I definitely regret not purchasing an Xecuter chip when the price was a bit more rational, but softmodding seems to work perfectly fine for my uses. I did have to replace a few capacitors on his board, because the tops were bulging and leaking. But all is well. I'll soon put a hard drive in one of the ones he gave me, and probably sell the rest. Now I have to wait for the 50gb queue to ftp over onto the Xbox so I can take it back to him, but it's worth it to relive the magic. What should I do next? Put a larger SATA drive in it? Maybe take the leap and put an SSD in its place? I think I want to get a ghostcase and clean it up a bit. I think I'm ready to put together a console that will last me a while. On a modded PS2 and Wii you can play games directly from iso images. This can also be done a Xbox. You just need some tools, some attach/default.xbe's the correct bioses and some dashboards. I have tried to follow a tread on xbmc4xbox and another one on emuxtras on how to do this. But I gave up as it was unclear to me where to get hold of the attach.xbe file and also if i had to re-flash my bios to make this work. I wonder if someone here can make a good tutorial on how to make this work. ( I use xbmc4gamers as my main dash, And i have two xboxes, one with evox m8+ and one with indbios 5004. ) Thanks,

Hey all, just thought i would post a quick hello and say damn i wish i had found you 1 week ago. I have just got in to the xbox original modding scene and lets just say wow once your hooked its hard to turn away. looking forward to learning as much as i can from fellow modders and also giving back a little knowledge.

I dont know if this has been put up on here before, but i came across this during my quest to fix a v1.2 xbox that wont boot. I have at some point managed to bork the hard drive during this quest Any how this webpage shows how to read an eeprom from an xbox using a Pi and a pin header normally used for mounting modchips in an xbox.. I have installed the program on my pi and got everything ready, just waiting for my header wires to arrive and then im goin to give it a go. My thinking is if i can read the xeeprom i can then use xboxhdm2.3usb to rebuild the hard drive and install a softmod. I'm an old school modder from the original days. Getting back into it after a buddy asked me to fix and revamp his two consoles. I was an xecuter fanboy and used their chips exclusively along with TSOP flashing X2 bioses. It's pretty awesome to see a forum that is still active.

This site seems like a good resource, I have modded OG xboxs back in the day and have modded a few more recently, It's nice to see a active community for this.

Hey guys, still running my old Xbox to feed my Arcade Cab through Jamma connector. Runs great... but I am looking to get one with more RAM and Power to support a couple more games. Still want to hold onto the Xbox rather than switching onto a new system due to the great connectivity with my Cab and the CRT. Would be nice to have a backup box to ad. Hi, I have two xboxes collecting dust for a few years, first one modded the hard way using a LOT of wires soldered to the main board and a second one using a evox modchp. Since my kids are starting to show some interests for classic games I thought I would do my part as a responsible father and support them the best way I can :-) Since I have not been part of the org xbox scene for quite some time I need to catch up..a lot! hi everyone , have just back into original xbox again ,modded my first xbox last week all going well so far.

Hi All My user name SS_Dave reflects the car I had at the time I was thinking of a nick name and my name. I have been doing basic repairs and mods to the original Xbox's since their release and at one stage I would get at least 1 or 2 Xbox’s a week to be modded and or upgraded HDD fitted in my spare room. I would get machine’s that owners had tried to mod to get going as a lot of other modders would not touch a already opened box and I would have a 95% success rate of getting it running again. I did get a lot of untouched boxes as well. I also used to keep some Hdd's in stock (In the beginning 120gig was the most common due to the cost) for upgrades as well the owner didn’t have to wait for a delivery from interstate computer parts suppliers. Dr Google lead me here while looking for Xbox info and I hope to be able to help others in their quest to get there original Xbox's up and running. Cheers SS_Dave

I've got a 1.6 that is already softmodded and hdd upgraded using JCRocky5s softmod and Chimp. I've got an Aladdin XT on the way and I want to upgrade as painlessly as possible. I'd like to keep my F&G partitions and my Dash/Saves/DLC. Can I just flash the bios and manually delete the softmod files or do I have to back stuff up, install and then reload the backups? Thanks.
