bulkchart32
xbox controllers are made in an annoying way so that the buttons are not easily fixed when the they stop registering. i don't know the terms here so i'm going to describe what i'm trying ask as best possible. i'm also really tired and my brain is about half asleep. anyway, the pcb has something similar to black tape with the little black pads under it instead of having the black pads on the rubber thing itself(the rubber piece that goes under the buttons). so it is very difficult to replace that tape thing when buttons presses stop registering. has anyone made a modified rubber thing with the black pads made onto it so the black tape can be peeled off and thrown away? prtscn
clean pcb and black pads with alcohol.
KaosEngineer
And, don't clean the black tape. The controller will no longer work without the graphite/conductive material on it to complete the connection when pressed on by the black pads. sweetdarkdestiny
I don't have solution but wouldn't be possible to add micro switches under the buttons. They seems to have the same hight like the rubberpad under the buttons. And i one saw someone fixing the graphite pad with a lead pencil. Question is for how long that would work. bulkchart32
good news to report. i had one of these https://smile.amazon.com/CircuitWriter-Conductive-Ink-silver-based-4g/dp/B00B88B9KI/ref=pd_bxgy_2/136-9995968-5459536?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00B88B9KI&pd_rd_r=cb48fc68-10a3-4adc-ac4e-2cd66c175506&pd_rd_w=0jC40&pd_rd_wg=OJk5J&pf_rd_p=ce6c479b-ef53-49a6-845b-bbbf35c28dd3&pf_rd_r=HCR37DNTTV8Y6S7MCPV3&psc=1&refRID=HCR37DNTTV8Y6S7MCPV3 laying round so i used it to make the rubber things conductive and i completely removed that piece of black tape with the graphite pads under it and it worked! it completely removed the analog variable function of the buttons so now they only register is fully on or fully off. there are only a few games that use the pressure sense feature, though. not certain how long this will last before it needs a touch up but it works great now.
