I'm having an issue with xbmc emustation regarding reading roms. I initially had a rom set in the .zip format placed in the proper rom folder. These roms worked fine and I didn't have any issue. Now, I had found a more complete rom set and decided to place them in. The only difference was the new rom set were all in the .7z format. When I tried to play those, it looked like it was loading them until a little message came up stating they weren't a recognized file format and loaded the menu again. So the real issue came up now when I finally tracked down the complete rom set I needed (which was in .zip format like before) and placed them back in. Now emustation still won't play the games and has that error message still. The .zip files are the prefered file type correct? Is there some sort of settings or file that needs to be changed or taken out for them to work again?

Hey Guys Sorry to Open a thread on something that should be so simple but it has Honestly stumped me. Ive had a Quick look at the Forums and i couldnt find a Link to what im experiencing so hear goes. Before the weekend i finalized my OG with the Xbmc4gamers all was working fine with no issues. Ive come back today to find that Xbmc4gamers will no longer launch. Thinking its corrupt files after abit of a move around before the weekend i decided to ftp a new set of files that i had kept knowing there are fully working. I honestly thought that would of fixed it but after a hard reboot it still remains. Is there any sort of config file i should be looking to delete, maybe to regenerate a fresh set of files? if so any help would be much appreciated. For a little more information ive tried launching this Through an added menu entry aswell as through the file explorer and both reboot to Unleash X before and after a new set of files via Ftp. I am curious if anyone else has run into this issue. I have created several icons for XBMC and they all work/look great (at least in my opinion), except for the one for NINJA. I have tried different image files as well as clearing the program thumbnail cache and the same thing happens. I can change the icon so I see a different one, but it is always cut in half. The file sizes, demensions, dpi, etc all match the ones that don't show this behavior. I am at my whits end on this one! Examples of the icons and then how they look within XBMC:

Hi all, I've been googling and searching and not finding an answer to this. I fired up my Xbox today (first time in a while) and got a notification that a new version was available. I went into the settings, updated the URL downloader and then did the XBMC4Gamers update. After a bit, I got a message that "autoexec.py" or something like that failed. Now I'm stuck at a screen that says XBMC Fatal Error: No suitable skin version found (see screenshot) I am able to FTP into the xbox just fine. I did find some mention of a guisettings.xml file but I can't seem to find where it might be and where I can get a replacement for it (if that's even the problem) My default dash is/was xbmc4gamers, BTW. I would appreciate any help!

I am in the process of setting up Rocky5's excellent XBMC Emustation dashboard and am finishing it off with the C64 section at the moment. Is there a way to get the nice cover art like you can for the other emulators which I have had the luxary of fixing easily thru the downloads on XBMC Emustation?

Hi all, has anyone managed to come up with some good youtube-dl settings for downloading video that play nicely on the xbox? I've done some googling and really need to dig a bit deeper but thought I'd check here first. I'm imagining the downloaded media will need to be run though ffmpeg with some specific switches to get a container and bitrate the xbox can handle. Thanks.

I've got a question about shortcuts on xbmcorigins with UI update installed. Is it normal to only be able to select games as shortcuts? I know emulators require custom addon.xml to do it, but I am actually trying to have apps available as shortcuts. Like DVD2Xbox and other stuff. I don't know how to write an addon.xml, so even if it would make the apps show up as selectable I won't be able to do it. Is there some kind of template I can follow to learn how to write one? Another quick question, since I only use coinops for emulation, could I place the folder in F\Games so it shows up with the other games?

Hi, Can anyone explain to me how to get coinops gems working on origins. ie which folder to place it on and how to get it running i'm struggling thanks

I finally got around to setting up my xbmc with the origin skin and the updated UI. It works great and looks amazing, but when I have it set as my default dash it boots to a black screen. I've tried using hexen 2019 & 2020 to set it as default and both have the same out come.

I have a chip modded xbox that when powered up will go to the MS dash board. If you hold the power button down a few seconds it will activate the chip and will boot-up, turning the XBOX logo blue and if there is a game in the DVD drive it will load the game. If there is no game in the drive then it will go to the MS dash board. How do I get the Xbox to load the xbmc dash board when the mod chip is activated? I have tried Auto Installer Deluxe v 4.45 to install the dash boards from the disc to the E: retail hard drive but none have worked, when I re-start the xbox with mod chip activated it will go to the MS dash board. I have tried to use the Hexen 2018 installation disc, but the xbox will not read the disc. Please could someone help me to set up the dash board so that when the mod chip is activated it will boot to xbmc dash board? If you can help, please explain in simple terms because I am not good at these things, a total novice. Thank You.

Hi guys after succesfully tsop my crystal og xbox 1.4 i was trying to re-install xbmc4gamer and when i try to install it in partition e i get an error of cannot copy D and is not working. Only way i found it to work is if i install it as an app but then im unable to have it on boot Anyone knows why? Forgot to say im using rocky tools extra disk for installing xbmc Thanks

Hi All, I am not sure how to set the thumbnail for the "My Games" shortcut tile on the home page of the XBMC Origins skin. Currently, the shortcut has no image. The XML code below is from home.xml. I have tried to set the path for the icon tag, but my PNG image (xbox.png) never appears. What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Ok, so I'm looking for a few of the banners/wide icons for xbmc. These past few weeks have been a real voyage of rediscovery as I hadn't softmodded an xbox in years and the scene has changed so much - Rocky 5 was completely new to me. I was wondering how to go about installing XBMC on startup - which version is the best etc... Sorry for sounding like such a noob but this is all new to me again. I have coin ops, games and emulators like the Megadrive and Snes already installed. Any help greatly appreciated.

XBMC4Gamers Synopsis Information This is a HDD ready XBMC4Gamers synopsis information setup. It was generated from a spreadsheet I made in which I collated as much information as I could find for the complete list of Xbox titles. The first building block of this spreadsheet was Cameron Brigmans list of Xbox games. The rest was taken from old defunct websites such as HDTVArcade using the wayback machine and the current Wikipedia pages. All sources linked and credited in the spreadsheet. You can filter this list by rating, genre etc. All US games ratings taken from Metacritic for consistency. It's a good tool for exploring the complete list of Xbox titles. As far as I can see it is the most up to date and complete list anywhere. This spreadsheet is very much a byproduct of creating synopsis information for Rockys XBMC4Gamers but it turned out to be a good tool for picking through titles and deciding what to fill a 2tb drive with so I have included it on the Github. Just download the 'Games.zip', extract it for the full list of HDD ready files and transfer as needed. These synopsis should be compatible with all XBMC. 3.5.3 or above once Rocky5's custom synopsis script and custom XBMC xbe are used. The US list is complete, the EU games all have some if not all information (except ESRB ratings) but the JAP games information is scant, description for most but the information is not as detailed for them. Huge thanks to Rocky5 for all his help and for creating the batch tool to automate separating out the individual default.xml files into folders from the initial excel to xml export. Any issues anyone finds I can fix and update accordingly when I have time. I hope this enhances your XBMC4Gamers setup.

Okayyy so I downloaded the xbox origins and most of it works perfecly, But I got a backup of my savegames and I want to restore my savegames from my childhood. I made a backup using my OLD harddisk which was softmodded and used UnleashX to connect to my PC using ftp. Then I used XBSM45 Savegamemanager and succesfully downloaded all my savegames... Then I put the 2tb origins hard drive back in and used the same program, but now to restore / upload all the savegames... Now I cannot say it was a total faillure...because a lot of savegames are great! rollercoaster or gta san andreas for example... But other games like need for speed or rallisport challenge.. On these games I might see my username, but no scores or whatever... Does anyone know why this is?

After TSOP (unleashx and evox m8+ f and G) Bios,fitting a new hdd to my xbox I installed XBMC trough hexen2018. But there are a few questions I have considering the coöperation between these 2 dashes. UnleashX is my main dash and XBMC is installed as an app. Since I am new too the XBOX Scene, I don't know what I will use as my main Dash. There are a few things I can't work out. If I exit XBMC it switches to the standard MS dash, not the evolution dash. Is this something I can configure XBMC gives menu options for applications and emulators. But I don't see the applications I have installed on my unleash dashboard here. Is it just pointing at a different location or is there something wrong/ do they mean other type of applications. It would be nice that when I Rip a game, install an emulator they will appear both on unleashx and on XBMC.. If I push the eject button on my xbox, sometimes it reboots. Somebody knows something about that?

hello I just wanted to say thank you to Dom Dxecutioner, for creating XBMC ORIGINS skin, credit where credit is due. so my problem is a two fold problem, the 1st being that when I set a shortcut on the home screen, it sets the shortcut just fine, however the image is not displaying (yes I have posters and images in the file for it) the second part is that the script for downloading my XBL avatar, Gamerscore, and recently played games, will not display because the script fails. can anyone give DETAILED instructions as to how I fix this thank you for your time

Hi im new to this forum but not new to modding . soon I will be installing an alladin plus x2 chip in my version 1.6 xbox therefore hard modding it . I seen where people are putting xbmc origins on their softmodded x boxes but find little information on getting a dashboard as such on it after I hard modded it ? so please 1.could somebody point me towards a prebuilt xbmc origins with instructions on how to install after I have successfully hard modded my xbox note: I will be using a ide to sata adapter to use a 2 tb hd or larger in the system 2. I plan to ftp my game files over to the hd another question I have. Can I use the hard drive as an external hard drive after I have installed a front end and transfer all my files at once with an external sata to usb adapter ? Hi, I have XBMC running as my main dash. In the UnleashX dash which I can load to from the file explorer, there is a XBMC heading that doesn't work, to get it to load XBMC do I just load a XBMC xbe and cfg to the C or E partition? Thanks in advance. G

So i was researching some more one XBMC and i found out there now KODI for media centers would there be a way to Connect to the video streaming sights we use on a Firestick on out Xboxs loaded with Xbmc?!!?!

Hi everyone, I just introduced myself in the "new members" section. And now I have a bunch of questions covering different topics. I have a softmodded XBOX that I modded like ten years ago. I do not remember what softmod, what exploit, did I tsop-flash...? My setup is as follows: XBOX 1.2-1.5, 2.5"Sata-hdd, laptop-dvd-drive, VGA-connector on the back with a DIP-switch to choose vga-video-mode (so obviously i did a tsop-flash?), and usb-connectors on port 3 and 4. Everything is running again after some major issues. The box is booting to xbmc 3.0 and I can watch movies and play games from HDD (I can not find my game-dvds). But since I can not remember what softmod is installed, or what bios is flashed I want to start over. I only want to keep my games from the HDD. My plans are as follows: backup games via FTP, backup eeprom, install a new softmod, NULL the hdd-code, ( I may want to upgrade the 160GB hdd at some point), rebuild the HDD from scratch, install the latest XBMC is this the best order? what are the best methods for doing so? what software do I need (Tool-DVDs ?)

I knew this was extremely hard for me to get my hands on. I've looked all over the Internet for wide custom banners. I found a few but they were missing quite a bit. I had to get a little bit from this guy a little bit from that guy and made my own bundle. In this ZIP file is not my entire wide set. Just the ones I had very hard time finding I wanted to share this with the group because I made them myself. I could not find any online. In this download you will find borders 4 wide icons for XBMC. Some of the icons are coin-ops. Premium. Hyper vision ninja and ninja gold. Even adults only with neon lights... I hope that somebody can actually use these. This way I did not waste a bunch of time just making it for myself. Please seed this as much as possible and share as much as possible.
