About Me

  1. Help flashed bios to a 1.6 xbox which has xecuter2.6 chip using slayers installer disc. Tried to flash to bank 1 which seemed to be empty as when I tried to boot from it just got blank screen... Any way after flashing bios from slayers installer disc which seemed to go well it said xbox will shut down...Then when I tried to boot from bank 1 just get red ring and nothing on screen.tried from bank 2 and get the same red ring, then tried dissabling chip and boot to ms dash but still just get red ringso can not even do softmod and update again that way... any way back? could xecuter 2.6 modchip be taken out and reflashed from pc?
  2. Hi, i'm new to the scene and got my first chipped box a few weeks ago. Because i'm interested in tinkering around it happend that my Flashchip somehow got corrupted in the process of trying out another BIOS ... i'm kinda stuck now and absolutely want to recover from this situation by myself, so there have a few ideas risen and i may ask more veteran people about them: Ideas: 1. Boot the XBox of a friend of mine, remove the Flash with power on and flash mine. Did this years ago regulary on PC Mainboards but also know that these devices aren't built for hotswapping them and so i'm a little bit afraid of killing the circuitry with voltage spikes. 2. Softmod the Box and Flash the Modchip then. Question 1: Possible in general? Question 2: Is it possible to Softmod "externally" on a PC. I have a eeprom backup of my box and the key isn't nulled. 3. Invest a few bucks and buy a USB Flasher which is compatible with PLCC32 chips - mine is a SST 49lf020a. Question: Can i use other Chips with similar specification too? I'm thinking of ordering a SST 39SF02070-4C-N which has very similar specifications compared to the original one, which is no longer produced or available. Just a sidenote: The Modchip i use is a Alladin XT Thanks, Egon
  3. Hi i have a Xbox 1.0 with a corrupt bios and i discovered that the TSOP mod wasn’t done before i flashed it and ended up corrupting the bios. I tried the 3 wire trick and that didn’t work and can’t seem to find any bios reflash settings on the Open Xenium mod chip. So that really only leaves me with flashing a new chip and soldering it in. Is that the only option i have?
  4. Hi all, I've been out of the scene for ages, but recently saved a few xboxen from clock cap death and bought some aladdin chips to mod them with. Also got some SATA to PATA converters, which I haven't gotten working: proper 2 cap version with the master / slave jumper and an 80-pin cable, seems to cause a conflict with the DVD drive in every config I can think of - OGXBOX DVD shows "linux" and then DVD keep seeking back and forth forever. I thought I'd update the bios to see if that helped. I've gone through as many threads related to this topic as I can e.g. https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3866-aladdin-flash-not-writable/ and tried the suggested solutions, but I am unable to flash a new bios to my modchip. I' going to try and provide as much information as possible as well as the things I've tried, in the hope that someone can assist. Top side of the board (this is one I haven't installed, installed one is identical with BT and D0 connected correctly, chip boots fine): Bottom side of the board: Stuck on erasing (and bios ID): Bios hashes: I'm using OGXBOX Installer 2021 DVD. Xbox is reported as 1.4. So I've tried the following: xflash for sst49fl020: seems to be able to dump the flash, but fails on flash with an "Flash check id failed, are you sure you have flash enabled?" XBlast 0.56: select evoxm8_67. when I press both triggers, start and white, the xbox reboots (wtf?) OGXBOX menu flash: gets stuck on erase as per the image above Tried the short and long power button presses, doesn't seem to change anything. "Chip: Protected" appears on the OGXBOX screen Any suggestions? I do have a minipro programmer somewhere with (I think) the correct adapter so could try that as last resort. Thanks -j
  5. Hello, I'm looking to Recover a bad Tsop Flash on a 1.4 board. I have an Aladdin XT on the way which will be my 3rd chip install. Been looking around and have a few questions. First, I understand being able to disconnect the D0 wire once booted with the chip would give me the option to tsop using Xblastos. My question comes from something else I'm looking into Eeprom recovery using a raspberry Pi, It accesses the I2C connection and pulls the Eeprom. Could I use the Pi and an LPC pinheader to reflash the original bios via tsop in a similar method?
  6. So yesterday i decided to flash a new bios to my V1.1 Xbox Modchip Super Aladdin with the SST49LF020 to remove de DVD drive check and used EVtool to edit a EvoX M8+ 256K Bios, but me being stupid i also decided to change the EvoX logo to be sure the Bios was indeed changed, big mistake. The flashing completed, the Xbox turned off and now when i press for 1 second to activate the chip i get no signal from the TV, no animation, no sound nothing. I even put Hexen 2018 but nothing, it's dead. But it boot to the stock dashboard with a quick press. I've been searching for hours, but still have some questions: 1) If i buy one of those Aladdin XT PLUS2 XT+4032 that come with a SST49LF020A can i just replace that with mine and it will work? I saw that it comes pre-flashed with a EvoX M8 bios? 2) Do you know were to buy just the SST49LF020 with the Bios? I feel very sad about this, because i treasure my consoles and this was my main and first Original Xbox and would like to restore it.
  7. I grabbed a Kernel file from this page and I flashed it with XBlastOS. Does the kernel have to match the original kernel? What is the kernel relative to the BIOS? Normally kernel and BIOS are two very different components of a computer. I shouldn't have been able to flash the TSOP with the kernel correct? How are those kernels meant to be used? I was looking for the default BIOS. Thanks
  8. I had xodus matrix on my ogxbox, and the original IDE HDD went bad, so I got my self 120gb SATA SSD harddrive, 80pin cable, IDE-SATA adapter. I decided to remove the chip when I removed the clock capacitor and reinstall it. I installed the new SATA HD with the adapter and I try to boot-up I don't get xodus matrix Bios at the bottom of the screen, and Hexen 2020 does not load. I am not sure if I need to re-program the chip and reload the Bios (which I no longer have) again. I still got the programmer board, and the loader winLPC tool...any advice what/where I get a BIOS to move forward and make sure it is not a modchip issue
  9. Hello from France. first i have to say that i'm happy to see an active community around the OG Xbox. so i'm on a xbox period for learning hacking and i did a mistake on a v1.1 motherboard. i learned too late that 1.0 and 1.1 have 1Mo tsop size and i flashed manually with a 256ko custom ind-bios... i don't want to setup a modchip as i try to learn stuff. i really would like to recover the tsop bios. so right now, the xbox boot with no signal on TV, i hear hdd and dvd running, when i put hexen disk i can see led turning red as intended. i tried to split tsop into 2x512 and 4x256 banks, nothing works. i esitate to buy a xblast modchip as it worth around 25€... i heard about a 28/29 wires modchip tricks but i found no info about it. any other option i could try with my current stuff ? i have an x3 and aladdin modchip but i read i cant flash tsop from a modchip beside chameleon and xblast one. thanks in advance.
  10. Hello, I am stuck in a pickle and hope someone can help. I just TSOP flashed in my Xbox and it is now stuck in a boot loop. The Xbox logo appears along with the Microsoft logo and then the system resets to do it again. I first installed the rocky 5 softmod, used the bios checker disc to make sure it was ready to flash (it displayed "TSOP?") and then used the TSOP flash mode of the extras disc to flash the system. everything went like normal and then after the BIOS was flashed and the system rebooted it just kept rebooting itself. It is at the 3:56 mark in the attached video . I'm new at this and out of my element here, please help.
  11. I was just wondering if this was possible/advisable and if anyone had done it themselves? Older Chimp versions, up until Chimp 261812 used the Gentoox loader. I never bothered to ask at the time about the other menu options there were and if they worked, including the Flash BIOS option. As I still have archived and installed copies on a couple of less used Xboxes it seems like as good a tool to use as anything else but it is OK and safe to do.
  12. Really just double checking I've done everything correctly before going ahead with the flash on an Aladdin XT Plus2 in a v1.2/1.3 Xbox. It is an edited version of TruHeXEn's evox.m8plus.f.c.137.nodvd.bin. Changed the Xbox logo etc to match the Aladdin red chip theme, might modify this later if it doesn't look good. Also thinking about designing and importing another EvoX logo - details on how to do that are included wit the EVTool but if anyone has any additional information on this please share. Major changes are the boot priority: C:\evoxdash.xbe is default but I've changed the other two as the other HeXEn ones used are not applicable. The C:\default.xbe is UnleashX v584 whereas my main dash is UnleashX v572. I wondered if that was sensible. If the C:\config.xml they'll both use was corrupted neither would work but I'm not keen about using a different location ie. F:\ as I tend to copy/delete more stuff on that than anywhere else. Other significant change is the partitioning allocation. I don't envisage using any HDD bigger than 500GB and TBH I do not see the point of using a G:\ drive until it is actually required whatever the HDD size. So it made sense to change that to Partition 6 takes the rest of the drive instead. Size is 256KB and nothing apart from the above has been changed. I intend to use a dedicated EvoX v3935 dash for the flash rather than HeXEn simply because I do not want my dashboard messed around again as happened with the same unmodified BIOS TSOP flash I did on another Xbox. Any general comments, obvious mistakes, problems?
  13. can't get to flash it. I tried 2 seconds power button hold, no dice. Chip boots bios OK, but cant flash it.
  14. This is a guide for anyone out there who may have an old mod chipped system and decides they want to Flash the TSOP and get rid of the mod chip. For Xbox revisions 1.0 to 1.5 only. I've had my v1.1 Xbox since almost launch (in Australia) the box has served me well for over 17 years. Had it modded by a guy we found in the newspaper. Just some small maintenance along the journey - refurbish the DVD drive (Samsung), fix trace corrosion and remove the clock capacitor. Now it was time to say goodbye to the Aladdin Advance. This may not be the quickest way, but I think it would be one of the safest. Full backup of all partitions on my PC Backup of EEPROM (Through Evox Dash) - Send to PC Backup of HDD EEPROM through Config Magic(different to the Evox Backup?) - Send to PC Locked the HDD to the Xbox via ConfigMagic or Evox Dash etc Softmodded with Slayers 3.3 - C drive no virtual Removed Aladdin Advance mod chip - mine was soldered directly to MB so be careful when removing. I accidently broke off the C702 component and had to solder back on. Soldered the correct TSOP write points for my Xbox revision - For Reference https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20-tsop-flash-guide/ Checked BIOS with Bios checker on AutoInstallerDeluxe 4.5.3 TSOP confirmed writable. It will say 'TSOP?' up the top of the screen Ran TruHexen 2020, flash bios the correct BIOS to TSOP depending on revision - v1.0 & v1.1 can support up to 1MB Bios, v1.2-v1.5 can support 256KB Bios - M8 Plus.67 is safest Ran option 3.5.2 on TruHexen2020 - clean C after TSOP - To remove Softmod Reformatted F and G drives with XBpartioner 1.3 - ensuring they show the full and correct amount in File Explorer/Your dash of choice Delete contents of C and E partitions via FTP, and FTP over original C and E contents, reboot the Xbox FTP all F and G data back to the Xbox. For a video of the TSOP solder and flash process - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIw8k5areQg&t=126s Hopefully this will help someone in the future. Thanks
  15. I was talking to someone about my A51 arcade cab this morning and how I had changed the old failing IDE HDD out for a flash solution. And as a result it got me thinking if anyone had ever done this with the XBOX and did it work? You can but IDE Flash card adapters really cheap like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Syba-Insertion-Connects-Interface-SD-CF-IDE/dp/B000YUMLPI?th=1 or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SD-To-3-5-40Pin-Male-IDE-Hard-Disk-Drive-Adapter-Card-3-5-IDE/303593957108?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D633b9ac4a9054d3292235044254373aa%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D303593957108%26itm%3D303593957108%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A39467bb8-c854-11ea-ad71-74dbd180435c|parentrq%3A5dda769d1730aadcf4c6bb5efffbfed4|iid%3A1 I remember from doing my cab that some are better than others and some just dont work, But I figured I would ask as it could potentially be a better option than using the old IDE HDD's or using a sata converter?
  16. Hi guys after succesfully tsop my crystal og xbox 1.4 i was trying to re-install xbmc4gamer and when i try to install it in partition e i get an error of cannot copy D and is not working. Only way i found it to work is if i install it as an app but then im unable to have it on boot Anyone knows why? Forgot to say im using rocky tools extra disk for installing xbmc Thanks
  17. If i flash a bios with the skip dvd check will i still be able to boot from dvd on a blank harddrive?
  18. Unable to flash BIOS. Error reading bios file (see pic). To me it sounds like I have a bad DVD burn? Just wanted to confirm. I did burn at the slowest write speed. Will re-burn again. -v1.1 mobo -XeXEn 2018 -Using Verbatium DVD+R media -Attempting to flash iND-BIOS.5004 (F and G) to use 2TB SATA HDD. Thanks in advance.
  19. Ok, so by mistake I used a winbond flash method on a non winbond TSOP (ST), which resulted in the console freezing during the flash process and (ofc) followed by frag. Hopefuly i suceeded in installing an old alladdin modchip which i had lying around and the console works fine. So here' my question. Is it possible to re-flash the TSOP theoretically using the following method: Boot the console and then disable the chip without shutting down (e.g. desoldering the D0 point) and try to flash the TSOP correctly this time?
  20. Hello i have a xbox with a almost dead hard drive and a dvd drive that works barely. The previous owner performed a tsop very long ago and that's why i believe that i can boot to hexen without the hard drive, also i saw some solder residue on the pads to unlock the bios protection. (Cleaned the old solder and bridged the points again) I have a 1.4 with a Windbond and focus chip, the main problem that i have is that i can't move the options in the Gentoox because my only working controller seems to be a fake controller or at least the original pcb was replaced with a generic one, someone told me on the Xbox-hq forums that i can just drop the bios file on C:/Bios . Can i boot HEXEN and ftp the bios file from there? Also what bios do you recommend? I can't decide beetween evo m8 or iND-BiOS.5004.67 Thanks for your time.
  21. Over the past week I've picked up 5 1.1 consoles with a 1mb tsop bank. What BIOS would you recommend me using for the 1mb chip and method to flash it via the HDD. Note: I don't have a way to burn a disc with something like hexen so far so I'd be flashing via the HDD.
  22. Hi folks, I purchased a 1.2 XBox not knowing that there is a SmartXX V2 working in it Now I'm trying to get all the old rubbish from the box and 1st. changed fhe HDD to a 1TB and reinstalled the XBox with HeXen. My next thing would be trying to update the SmartXX OS (Build 3335) and the Bios. I learned that the M7 Mod-Bios is a pretty old one. Are there any links between SmartXX and the bios? e.g. I can/should only use/flash special bios-files which are compatible with the SmartXX Mod-Chip? Where can I get Yan update for the SmartXX OS nowadays? All sources do not work Dors anyone has a tip for good working Bios to change against the old M7 one on my XBox? Where can I find such bioses?
  23. Hello, I have an original Xbox (can't determine which version, looks like 1.4 or 1.5) modded with Aladdin Advance. It worked well until today - I decided to update the bios with EvoX D.6 EjectFix (checksum 74c6235497f474bf88b54b3fc52a20b2). Bin file with it was placed on my HDD so I presumed that it's ok to flash it. After flashing, my Xbox turned off and when I turned it on, it startet to FRAG (two green flashes, then green/red flash with no video). What have I done? How I can undone it?
  24. Could I have some advice please on a way to TSOP flash a bios of recommendation without the use of the DVD drive. So off the hard drive or USB.
  25. I got a used modded xbox today. As I am stupid, instead of reading much into it, I tried to update from Evox m7 to m8 plus. In the update zip I downloaded, there was not only the M8 bios, but also a file called flashbios_v303.bin. I thought that would be the right file to flash, so I did. It seems like the bios is not compatible with my mod chip. While I am able to boot and select a file to flash from the HDD (I tried to flash an old file), it just gives me the error "Unkown flash! Halting". Is there anyway to make flashbios write onto my modchip so I have a working bios again?
