About Me

  1. Reposted with pics on Imgur: https://imgur.com/gallery/rH19myY I need help flashing this corrupt Bios chip on my Og Xbox. Unfortunately this is the only way i can reflash it, as i attempted to flash it but forgot to bridge the points now my Og Xbox only works with a modchip. I got around to picking up a programmer TL866II Plus with Xgpro v11.90 Flasher tool. But i keep getting a pin detect error. I first tried it with a new exact replacement chip using a TSOP 40 adaptor. Then ended up losing that chip. And desoldered the one from the motherboard. I also removed the cold solder from the adaptors and added some fresh new high quality solder with flux to make sure that isn’t the problem. I socketed it into the slot and no luck “Pin detect error”. I then ordered another adaptor this time without a socket and i soldered on the bios chip. I also redid the solder joints, as the ones on that adaptor were dull aswell, and no luck. I picked up the correct or the closest settings on the Xgpro v11.90 software. I tried TSOP 40 Hyundai and Hynix HY29F080 with no luck. It yet again gives me a “Pin detect error”. I even tried auto detect and it says chip not supported. On the chip it says Hyundai HY29F080T-90, but i can’t find that exact model number on the menu. Could that be the issue or is it something else. I have no idea as this is my first time using a programmer. And saw a video or two on how to use it.
  2. I did it. And it costs nothing to do it if you're trying to flip consoles!
  3. I'm trying my hand at both soldering (never done it before) and hardmodding by installing an OpenXenium chip onto my 1.0 Xbox. As the title states, I'm getting nothing after my first attempt. My initial assumption was that I probably have a cold solder point on the LPC debug header, although the single wire could cause harm (I doubt that ones bad though.) I remembered, however, that due to it not being used, I left pin 15 filled, as I was struggling to get it opened. While I doubt it, could that be causing any issues? Here's a picture of the joints for easier assessment: Thanks in advance for any assistance.
  4. I'm an absolute cretin and have wanted to go for a paint job similar to the look of the official Mountaindew xbox but instead of neon green i'll have it as neon orange or something. What would you guys recommend?
  5. Hello all! I’ve been a console modder for about 10-12 years. I’ve done hard mods on Xbox 360s and have practiced a bit of trace repair on other consoles like PS3 and other devices. I had a few questions about some issues I’m having with my side-of-the-road OGXbox. I kept finding this website on my Google searching and figured this is the place to be!
  6. Hi, I’m looking for some advice on where to begin with modding my Xbox. I’ve had a read around the forum and seen loads of threads with issues like games loading slow off the new HDD, slow boot ups, error messages like DVD not found, etc and it’s making the idea of modding the console somewhat daunting, no matter how many videos I watch. I’ve fully modded a Dreamcast but that’s very plug and play and has no software exploits, etc so this is a whole new level. My question is, if this Xbox was put down in front of you today, what would be your mod method of choice? I had looked at using the Rocky 5 softmod and then FTP’ing the extras disc across to use Chimp but the whole “4 second window” for the hot swap makes me nervous. Is that the way to go or is there a better way? I just want to put a larger Hard Drive in there to store rips of the discs I own, taking the strain off the DVD drive. Cheers.
  7. So upped the game and went from doing soft mod and tsop to installing my first open xenium on 1.4 XBOX but the xbox is fraggin with trying to boot 3 times before giving up and staying off (Red/Green blinking). Is there a diagram or way for me to check continuity from the motherboard and to the pins header to find which point not make contact either to the board it self or between the LPC rebulld board and the xbox board or trouble shoot this would be appricated??? EDIT: So before even the open xenium wasn't powering on, I tried to remove everything but it was pain so cleaned up and did the points again including the two I missed next to the header. Now the open xenium blinks red whenever the console tries to boot but quits after 3 attempts.
  8. About to tsop my 1.2. i have the latest og xbox installer disc, my 80 wire ide cable is ready to go, soft mod is in place, I have my sata 2.5 inch adapter and 250 gig hdd to put in. I also have my xonductive paint for the tsop. I have seen all the tutoruals on yt that i can find but i am stuck with wondering if i should use evox or ind bios. This will be my first time tsop flashing and adding a bigger drive. I havent even seen whats on the ogxb disc yet. Is there a tutorial on ogxb installer? Or any other suggestions?
  9. Hi All, Thought I'd post a quick hello as I work my way through the huge overload of information on the internet with regards to modding. I believe I have a v1.4 or v1.5 as I have a Focus video chip. The internal condition is remarkable and shows how well I looked after it when younger - but now I want to be able to show my kids some of the games I played on the Xbox and before using an emulator so I'll be reading through guides etc on here
  10. I have the two Virtual Drive Loader folders in their respective spots, C:\ and E:\Apps and I have Dashloader. However, it seems no matter what dashboard I'm loading to (XBMC4Gamers is what I tried initially) I must always launch the PBL App, or go into file manager and run Patcher.XBE... and then after it 'reboots' I can play my ISO games fine. How do I configure my system to automatically boot with the XISO hooks/kernel ready to go from coldboot? I tried copying the contents of Virtual Drive Loader from Apps to something that is highest on the dashloader order like "E:/XBMC-Emustation" so that it will find the default.xbe of Virtual Drive Loader and boot from that first but the console just hangs if I do that. So as of right now while I can play my XISOs off my HDD I must always first boot up, then run the XBE of Virtual Drive Loader or the PBL app. Please help :( Running TSOP'd 1.4 with EvoXM8Plus Thanks in advance!
  11. Hi, I'm having a really strange issue with some OpenXenium I've built that is driving me crazy. Basically, after flashing XeniumOS with Xenium Tool and hotswap method, on the first boot the modchip works fine: XeniumOS is loaded, I can flash other bios (and I can boot them!), so everything works as intended. However, if I reboot the Xbox the chip doesn't work anymore and the console FRAG. If I reflash XeniumOS it works again at first boot, but - as before - when rebooting xbox everything I get is a FRAG. I tried turning on with eject button or recovery switch, but nothing change. I tried different dump of XeniumOS and used also the official release of 2.3.1 XeniumOS. It simply acts as a modchip without any bios. It's really something strange because this is happening with all of the five chips I've assembled, with exactly the same behaviour. Thinking of a bad batch of Xilinx or flash I bought another set, but even with them I've the same issue. I really can't understand what's going on. It's like the flash get corrupted after every first boot of XeniumOS. The Xbox boots without any issues with Aladdin Xblast (which I use to do the hotswap method), so I don't think it's something related to the console. I've upgraded RAM to 128MB, but I don't think it's a problem for openxenium. I program the CPLD with a DIY Xilinx Parallel programmer and Impact (using .jed or .svf) without any error and CPLD works fine, it's recognised by xenium tools, I can change the colour of the LED etc. Any suggestions? I've searched on the internet, but could not find anything useful. Thanks
  12. Just want to share my first 128MB upgrade of a green limited XBox. Next one is the crystal XBox and after that the green Halo edition which I bought for 10,-€ because of a missing top cover. YT Link (Not realy mutch to see except for the XBlast lite test) : https://youtu.be/XxzrjwTTwGs
  13. I've softmodded my first xbox and I upgraded the HDD and I've heard about the wonders of Emulators, Homebrew ect ect, now I'm wondering where do I download emulators lets say for the N64 or Sega Genesis? All help is appreciated.
  14. First of all, thank you dear community for the oportunity to be a part of something good! I have a strange problem, have xbox 1.4 with aladdin XS MODCHIP, an older modchip ,but nonetheless it is working, As i want to upgrade to larger HDD, i pot-ed thomson drive, because it was failing, i put the 80 gb hdd, but i get error 13 and/or 16, the problem is that hexen or slayers cant read dvd from the first try,and always it can read from the second, third, etc. Also reads backups and reads hexen and slayers from retail HDD. Orange light is ok,evox sign is in the left-upper corner,it tries to read dvd hexen, but gets me to error 13 or 16 (this is only when i put blank HDD instead of the retail one)? DVD TRIES TO SPIN 2-3 TIMES, BUT NO BOOT TO HEXEN OR SLAYERS DISC,THEN ERRORS FOR MISSSING DASHBOARD Is there any solution to this?would appreciate very much,i could provide any information needed, THANKS IN ADVANCE
  15. Hey folks! Nothing too special here, but I finished refurbishing my og xbox. it's a v1.2 which i bought back in 2002. here's the work i've done: - removed clock cap - replaced 3 caps that went bad - hard-modded the box and flashed with evox, xbmc is stock dash now - replaced stock-fan with 80mm bequiet silentwings (and therefore trimmed the hdd- and dvd-tray a little bit) - installed green controller port-leds - installed blue and white power- and eject-button leds - cleared jewel, repainted the silver "xbox" letters with gold paint (turned out shitty though ) and installed a green led-ring on top - installed a 2TB sata hdd - painted the entire casing and a controller (s) white - added some coloured elements (front dvd-tray and middle part) aaand that's it i think. i actually did the whole thing to 2 consoles (the other one has the same mods, except for blue accent-colors). i gave the blue one to a good friend of mine for his birthday. i forgot to take pictures of the other box, since i was rushing to get the job done, but if you want, i can take some pics of it as well. special thanks to ss_dave, since he gave me the inspiration for the color-scheme! let me know what you think! greetings bot
  16. Just wanted to thank everyone who maintain and contribute to this site. Purchase a new to me Original Xbox (Version 1.2). Installed Aladdin XT Plus2 and upgraded to a 240GB SDD drive I had in my stash. Installed Hexen 2020 and now transferring the games I have from DVD to F drive. Everything working great so far.
  17. Could I have some advice please on a way to TSOP flash a bios of recommendation without the use of the DVD drive. So off the hard drive or USB.
  18. Hi everyone! Been following this forum for some time and watching plenty of Youtube videos on modding the OG Xbox. I got my first Xbox the first Christmas it was out and fell in love immediately. While I have love and respect for the other players (Sony, Nintendo, and Sega at the time), Xbox holds a special place in my heart. I think to this day, the OG Xbox is one of my favorite systems, mainly for all the great games and nostalgia is has provided over the years. Having been stuck at home during this coronavirus crisis, I finally cleaned up my game room and dug out an old Xbox 1.4 I got for sale. I successfully softmodded it with Rocky5, and I believe TSOP'd correctly the two bridges. Next step is to flash and eventually upgrade the HDD. Anyway, thanks for making this such a great forum for Xbox fans and modders. I look forward to getting insight into the modding community moving forward.
  19. Hi everyone! I picked up an xbox on FB marketplace for $20 as I couldn't resist as I'd always pined over the system back when I had a PS2 and GC in the early 00s. It wasn't in the best condition but I was determined to bring it back to its former glory. (That gunk in the grills is cigarette residue, the whole thing stunk to high heaven) Resolute in my mission I cracked it open and spent the better part of three hours cleaning it. The system itself is a 1.6 and all of the capacitors appear to be in good shape, the DVD tray wouldn't open at first but after I disassembled it and gave the belt a clean it now works like a charm. I've gone all in and have since ordered an Aladdin X2 modchip, an LPC rebuild board an 80 wire IDE cable and an IDE to Sata adapter. I'll be installing a 3TB HDD but I'm waiting on those components to come from China before I can start modding in earnest. I'm picking up an HD AV pack from a friend (who found it in his closet haha) and will be setting it up on my Sony PVM 20L2 (which sadly doesn't go above 480i) but I've picked up a few games over the years in the hopes that I'd eventually get the system to match! Anyway I missed out on this system as a kid so I'm looking forward to playing through the exclusives and the superior versions of PS2 games I loved (Burnout 3, Timesplitters etc) Thanks for reading!
  20. Hello everybody , I just tsop my first Xbox works great but its 8 gig Any tips on how to format my 500 gig drive that came from a old hard modded system, If I just drop it in I get a error code 7. so I dropped in hexen 2019 and turned off the system and rebooted got evox and then it just stayed there and did nothing any tips or video you know about? Thanks K9
  21. Hello! I never had a XBOX before because I already had a PS2 and couldn't afford another console. Now that I'm in my forties I decided to start a console collection (just the main Atari, Nintendo, Sega and Sony consoles) to find out what I missed in my youth. I bought 2 XBOXes from the same guy: a v1.2 with power/eject issues, and a v1.6 with a stuck DVD drive. I cleaned the first one and removed the clock capacitor, but it needs some rewiring because of trace damage, but it's kinda working for now. The v1.6 was just a stuck Samsung drive easily fixed by cleaning the eject rubber belt. Both are now softmodded (used a PSP as memory card :) ) and running Hypervision 5 Gems, and will soon receive modchips so I can upgrade their drives to SSD or IDE->SD adapter, whatever comes first! All I need now is more than 1 controller!
  22. im very new to modding and have only soft modded my xbox but would like to take it to the next level. from anyone who has hard modded there console before is there any rookie mistakes that could be avoided or things to look out for ? bare in mind im nervous just to open the thing up lol . thanks
  23. Now i have started on my first slim XboX. It is an 1.1 xbox i bought a while a go, it has a Xcuter2 Lite chip it, so my first working chipped xbox. Thought this was i good candidate for an slim, since i can run it without the DVD PCB. I rigged the "dremel" and got ready to cut (after reading a couple of guides) But the switch broke when I tried to start it..... Had to fix it: Found the bigger toy for cutting the shield Test fitting while cutting: I mounted a 60mm fan to the shield. And test fitted it in the bottom And finally fitted the newly cut down dvd caddy with HDD (not the one i am using yet). Need to get a molex extender, since it wont reach as it is. I am pretty happy with my first slim xbox. It is not finished yet, i am thinking of tinting the lid. Not decided what style jewel to go for yet, or if I should mount the shield again or not. Maybe leave as is, or black out the interior. Maybe even som led mods? But it seems like the hardes part of the mod went pretty well, I'll let you decide. I also have to make or source some bolts to use, and not decided if tinting it black, red or red with black on top...... Sent fra min NX551J via Tapatalk
  24. Hey there everyone. Yet another new fella here. I have been into modding these wonderful machines for a few years now. Figured it is time to reach out into a community a little. Im a 40 something gamer nerd with a job, wife, kids, mortgage, and a dog. What spare time i find i run off to the laboratory and tinker and modify game consoles. The OG Box was my favorite console in its heyday and I would still put it in my top 3 all time list. Thanks for having me.
