Greetings all! First time posting anything but have gathered a lot of great tips and fixes from this forum for a few years now. This problem has me stumped though. Here’s the situation: The xbox boots fine to the ms dash. I can access the hdd, copy saves to memory unit (or usb via adapter), browse settings, etc. The eject button on the dvd player just flashes green. There’s no disc in the drive, it doesn’t make any horrible noises, it won’t open, and there’s nothing impeding it from opening. I took it apart, removed a lot of dust et al, cleaned the laser, checked to see that the manual eject via the release button worked, double checked the tray side rails, etc. Everything looked normal. Reassembled and had the same problem listed above. I put in a known good drive and that remedied the non stop green light flashing so I thought I’d figured out the issue. I go to test a disc and the known good drive starts to not eject or close intermittently. Additionally it won’t do anything with the disc. If I put a few known good and un scratched games it the drive just flashes green forever. It never gives a dirty disc type error or anything and again this is a drive I know works (tested it right before I pulled it out and put it for test in the current Xbox). I’m stumped. I thought about changing out power and ide just to see. Swapped out two known good AV cables just for grins. No effect. Nothing on the MB looks bulging and I can’t see and trace rot,etc on the top at least. Any ideas? Thank you, MaGee

I have the Origins package on my 2TB drive, which is locked to the console and I cannot get the MS Dash to load. The system freezes. Questions: Can you confirm that the MS Dash is actually included? If not, where do I put it? I have read the stories of people tampering with the menu or structure and having things "blow up". I appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks.

Hello, Was wondering if anyone could help or test themselves maybe if they have a similar setup. I am running an EVOX dashboard (the latest i think), and form there can load Unleashx aswell. Everything else is working OK but cannot load discs (even originals) after the dash has loaded, I have the same problem when trying with unleashx, The status says checking after inserting a disc, then after a few secs says unknown. The discs will load if inserted then the console is rebooted. Here are a few key lines from the ini - AutoLaunchGames = Yes AutoLaunchDVD = No DVDPlayer = "e:\Apps\dvdx2\default.xbe" AutoLaunchAudio = No Current = 0xBEC9F026E59B170EF24142B7A71A8A3C Section "Root" { Item "Launch DVD Movie",ID_Launch_DVD Should these settings allow booting of a disc when inserting after the dash has loaded ? Any ideas ?

I have a OpenXenium modchip with a EvoXm8+ bios. My default dash is UnleashX e:\Dash\UnleashX) but I have XMBC4Gamers and XBMC-Emustation also installed (e:\apps\respective folder.) I installed the dashloader customizer and setup the buttons I want to use. Though when I boot and hold or frantic push the buttons nothing changes and it always boots into unleashx. Tried searching around and seems like all the posts I found talked about running Dashloader customizer with ind bios not EvoX. Will it work with EvoX? Also where it says "Set Custom Dash" is that setting the default if no button is pressed? Because that is also set as XBMC4gamers yet it still loads Unleashx.

Hello all i have a hard-modded XBox that has 2 BIOS chips my question is how do I set the CerBios to boot the XBMC Origins dash, because I also have a Series X boot flubber and that would kind of SWEET see video of boot below and then have the IND-BIOS boot XBMC4Gamers If I use HEXEN 2018 after I choose my bios and then boot that BIOS, will HEXEN do everything for me to set BIOS 1._dash XBMC4GAMERS BIOS 2._dash XBMC ORIGINS

I went and tried to move files around so I could be xbmc emustation on drive E as I had it on F. Now when I boot up the xbox I get a fatal error message "special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml, Line 0 failed to open file" Now am I completely ruined or can I just somehow boot back to a dashboard and reinstall xbmc emustation?

Had a weird experience with my latest mod, an xbox 1.6 chipped with an Aladdin XT. First, the dvd drive has a terrible sticking problem I have been unable to fix so far. So, I swapped out dvd drive with another one from a parts xbox, oddly the new dvd drive will play official discs but seems not to read burned discs despite the modchip??? So, unable to boot Hexen I had to swap back to the original (sticky) drive in order to set up the new hdd. When I attempted to run my tried and true copy of Hexen 2017 the disc still refused to recognize at all for some reason (btw just wtf here, this disc has always worked on every other xbox I've modded - but now no), but a copy of Hexen 2018 did in fact boot right up. I went ahead with Hexen 2018 (although I prefer to use 2017 due to having some issue previously with 2018, I can't remember now just what..) and everything seemed to go okay... until I tried to set up hd video modes. I get this error, 'msdash.xbe does not exist' or something similar. Seems that does not get installed when you use Hexen 2018??? According to some thread this file IS included on Hexen 2017 which makes sense because I never had this issue before. Anyways, after all this I just got impatient and ftp'd a copy of msdash.xbe over from another previously modded xbox 1.6 running the same modchip and... now the machine errors out with hardware error 21 every time I try to run the ms dashboard. I feel like I'm starting to lose my mind, I actually already had a couple of other issues earlier on in this mod but got past them. I saw another suggestion to just download msdash.xbe from the internet but when I googled to download it there were like four different versions or something and I really just don't want to mess around anymore. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance if so...

Got my first modded box, latest Rocky5 with UnleashX. Immediately I installed my DLC, which worked fine. I then decided I wanted to try the MS dash on it, tried just downloading the files online and running it (failed, error 16 but didn't cause any issues I could tell.) but then FTPed the Rocky5 extras and installed the dash this way. Then I dualbooted, but I chose 'No' on install UnleashX as second dash, and I didn't find an 'Alt Dashboard' folder. I uninstalled the dualboot and redid it with 'Yes'. Deleted UnleashX .xbe in the Alt folder and copied/renamed the MS dash into there. Dual boot works perfect. However, I popped in some games and all my DLC is nonfunctional. I noticed that in the MS dash memory manager, the DLC appears but the icons have a small green arrow in the corner. Normally this would be a checkmark. I was able to (without uninstalling the DLC) use the DLC installers again and fix all of my DLC. Green checks appear in MS dash now and all is well. I'm just curious if there is a chance somewhere along this line that I unsigned the DLC or something, or if this points to a larger issue that I will have again. I do not plan to do anything further but play games and rip CDs with this console, I just want peace of mind that this is not likely to break itself on its own again. If any of this is confusing, I can try to explain or show some pictures.

All, i just recently resurrected my old modded xbox. I upgraded the HDD and used Hexen to set everything up. Everything seems to work great except that any changes from the dash in UnleashX will not save. Once rebooted, everything reverts. However if i FTP into it, and make changes from the config.xml file, those take. I would rather not have to do it that way. Any suggestions on what i can do?

So I've just completed my openxenium install along with spi2par2019 / LCD display and Segate 2TB HDD. There are 4 bio on the openxenium which are x2.5035.137 bin, IND-BIOS.5004.67.bin, evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin and Retail Kernel. If I boot with the evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin bios, the console hangs up on the xbox logo and the word microsoft when its trying to load the dash. If I reset the console by ejecting the disc and closing it, it reboots fine striaght into the dash. If I use either x2.5035.137.bin or IND-BIOS.5004.67.bin then console boots straight into the dash from the first time. I tried different HDD, different IDE2SATA adapter both chinese and StarTech ones with all giving the same problem. This leads to believe that the issue is with the evox bios. Any suggestions or idea, should I be using a different evox bios? HDD is formatted with extra G & F partitions, I resized the partions to a smaller size, restarted and then re-partitioned again to the correct size as suggested in a previous post.

In case I want to launch a game in ISO form ran with the attacher default.xbe instead of doing the regular route for game storage, is it possible to get the dashboard to recognize the ISO and list it in the Games section? I did edit the attacher default.xbe with the proper game title but that still didn't show up, neither in applications nor games. Edit: I got it to recognize by putting the folder in my regular F/games folder. I was putting it in a separate ISOs folder but F/games is the only folder the dash seems to acknowledge for the games list.

Hey guys! I've got a couple boxes I threw some SSDs into recently and they don't load the dash, but as it says on the tin, only every OTHER time I turn it on. Startup works normally up until AFTER the "X" logo. Either the LED will stay solid green, and the screen will just be completely black forever (to be fair, only ever left it for about and hour while I was doing other stuff for giggles) OR the LED goes solid red like I've set it and loads UnleashX A-okay. Things both run like a champ in this state, haven't seen anything unusual, even the temps are great with stock paste. This happens with: - 2 brand new ADATA ASU655SS-480GT-C units, both of which were cloned from an IDE-based box with a 750GB seagate. The system they were cloned from was 1.6, softmodded with SID5, then upgraded to Rocky5. No issues on that console. These drives have NOT been tested in other functional consoles. Yet. - Three 80-wire IDE cables, two of which were running active duty in other consoles prior to testing and one of which died for some reason during the test. - Four IDE-SATA adapters - an HDE, a Startech IDE2SAT, and 2 Startech IDE2SAT2s (I haven't gone through the trouble of comparing ALL adapter and cable combos but at this point I don't think it matters) - A 1.4 and 1.6 version console - UnleashX Version 0.39.0528A Build 584, as installed by Rocky5's softmod The fact that the LED stays green on the failed boot seems like the system somehow things everything is normal and the SSD has just... stopped? Somewhere? I'm not sure. I think maybe this could be related to the BIOS or DVD drive, as both consoles are only softmodded. I plan to TSOP the 1.4 anyway, but I can't TSOP the 1.6 or (easily) remove its DVD drive, which I'm not inclined to do anyway as it works great. Wondering if anyone had some suggestions I perhaps haven't tried yet. Thanks so much for any and all assistance!

Hi! I was looking for unnecessary files on my xbox hardrive when i saw this: I realised that i have dashboard that i don't need. I opened it and saw that it even wasn't EvoX, but UnleashX (idk why). I already have UnleashX, but in different directory (C:/Dashboard). I need help which files to remove that are part of the unnecessary dash (I wanna keep the folders: Alt Dashboard, Applications, Backups, CACHE, MP3, PICS, TDATA, Trainers, UDATA and Video). Thank you!

Hi guys! I'll get right into it: The question: Is there a way to properly/completely install dashboards via FTP (rather than via DVD-R)? (The secondary question: Is there a special dash/tool/step I'm missing to re-unlock the ability to rip games to the hard drive?) The chip: Xecuter 3CE The build: X3 Build 1959 The context: (Bear with me because it's been a long time since I originally setup this system, so I'm relearning a lot as I go.) I've had a v1.4 xbox hard modded for well over a decade that I would pull out occasionally. Unfortunately, I suspected the drive started going bad due to massive load times and freezing issues, and after a failed data recovery specialist attempt, I need to rebuild the drive from scratch. The up-side is that my Xecuter seems to still be going strong, and with the fresh drive I can boot into X3CL and FTP to the drive. I used the Disk Tools to reformat the drive and can see all the partitions in WinSCP. I recently downloaded the EvoX dash (build 3935) and transferred the .xbe file to my C drive. This let me "Reboot To Dash" successfully, but the dashboard did not have any options to copy/play games (which is the ultimate goal -- to restore my Halo 2 mods to their former glory), and the dashboard seemed to wreck my ability to FTP into the drive. (WinSCP couldn't get the directory listing, so nothing would show up. I finally got back into it by basically reformatting the drive a couple times using a temporary third drive to get me back into X3CL...but anyway...) As well, I also notice that there are many other files in my EvoX download (skins, trainers, etc.) that I am completely ignoring by copying just the .xbe file over. All over the internet (and this forum), I see recommendations to burn a custom ISO to a DVD-R and install from that, but I'd like to know if it's possible to complete this process properly via FTP. I'm sure there's more info I could be providing here, so please let me know if I left anything out. Any and all input is appreciated! Thank you!

Hello everyone, i am new here and looking for some help! after over 15 years (possibly more) i got my old Xbox out of the attic for my children to play with. it has a Xecutor 2.3b Pro modchip, and had the EvoX M7 Bios. i happened to have an old redundant laptop with a 1tb 2.5" Sata drive not being used, so i decided to get the 80 wire cable, IDE to SATA converter and install a larger Hard drive. so last night i did this and discovered i needed to update the Bios to EvoX M8+ in order to see more than 130gb on the F: Drive. so i did this, initially selecting the wrong Bios (i assume!) as on the 'FLASHING BIOS NOW' screen (i used Hexen 2018) it got about 25% of the way through.... then just sat there, after 20 minutes, I decided to had to turn off and it was FRAG! its been YEARS since i used the thing, and after some googled i realised i had the duel bios chip with the Dip Switches, so managed to get it to boot into the backup EvoX M7, this time, flashed again (the duff bank) with 256k EvoX M8+ F&G and everything worked perfectly (950+ GB on F:, way more than i will ever need!) so this morning, I managed to configure the FTP setting with a Crossover cable and transfer a couple of games to the HDD. they seem to run fine, but i have an odd issue: when i use the short cut on the controller (both shoulder buttons, Back + Start) to return to the dash.... the Bios WIPES itself!!! what the heck is going on!? anyone got any ideas? I can flick the Dip Switches and boot back into EvoX M7/Hexen and re-flash but this is a very odd issue! and i cant seem to find any info about it, has anyone experienced this? thanks for your help, much appreciated!

X3 install with the push button panel on the front. It will not boot to MS Dash if I push and hold the power button. It quickly flashes red then switches to blue and boots to UnleashX. If I load the X3 menu (hold white button on startup) and select "Reboot With X3 Mod Disabled" it works perfectly - boots to MS Dash. I can also reach the MS Dash by selecting it from the UnleashX menu. Why won't the power button bypass function correctly?

I finally got around to setting up my xbmc with the origin skin and the updated UI. It works great and looks amazing, but when I have it set as my default dash it boots to a black screen. I've tried using hexen 2019 & 2020 to set it as default and both have the same out come.

I have a chip modded xbox that when powered up will go to the MS dash board. If you hold the power button down a few seconds it will activate the chip and will boot-up, turning the XBOX logo blue and if there is a game in the DVD drive it will load the game. If there is no game in the drive then it will go to the MS dash board. How do I get the Xbox to load the xbmc dash board when the mod chip is activated? I have tried Auto Installer Deluxe v 4.45 to install the dash boards from the disc to the E: retail hard drive but none have worked, when I re-start the xbox with mod chip activated it will go to the MS dash board. I have tried to use the Hexen 2018 installation disc, but the xbox will not read the disc. Please could someone help me to set up the dash board so that when the mod chip is activated it will boot to xbmc dash board? If you can help, please explain in simple terms because I am not good at these things, a total novice. Thank You.

Hey All. I'm looking at grabbing yet another Xbox and rather than do what i have done in the past, Id like to make a 'Best of the Best' setup. This will be the console I keep out for use. ( as opposed to dragging it out to play ) Id like to know what you are running and why? What makes you choose that dash? (This will be the 1st of more questions asked in different areas of the Greater forum so keep your eyes peeled.)
