About Me

  1. Hello, I bought a modchipped Xbox rev1.0. I want to remove the clock capacitor and don't want the modchip to be stuck on a clock loop, so I would like to know how to safely update the bios on the modchip through a burned CD/DVD. I've seen things like Slayers Disc and Hexen, but I'm not entirely sure how to proceed after burning them, and I'm not sure how safe it is and I don't want to screw anything up. My modchip I think is the Aladdin onde, has if you hold the power button it boots an old version (as far as I can tell) of EvoX, which besides running burned media and the logo on boot, looks just like the MS dashboard. Any help much appreciated.
  2. Hey guys, i came around these pics of a modchip on an old xbox, both sides have wires, a lot of wires on it. And i couldn't figure it out what is happening on this console, it seems to be some kind of reserve bank of the bios? A well known xbox modder said that it was some kind of extended bios bank and that if removed, the console would not turn on. So what do you guys think? This is not a help topic, just information disclosure, as this console is not mine and i'm really curious about this mod.
  3. Hi Guys, I currently have a 500gb hdd installed in my xbox (v1.2), but I'm planning on installing a 2tb hdd , and I just need some clarification on a couple of issues before I buy the larger hdd. My modchip currently has the X2 4981.06 bios, and when I run XBPartitioner v1.3, it warns me that "LBA48 not found! custom partitions will not work with this BIOS! Update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2". From what I've read, it sounds as though the hdd limit with this bios should be 137gb, however, as mentioned, I already have a 500gb hdd installed. So my question is, do I actually need to update the bios in order to install a 2tb hdd, or will it function correctly with this bios? I realise that updating the bios would be the easiest solution, however, the modchip is an X.B.I.T v1.0 with the external PCB which connects to a PC via USB to flash the bios. The flashing software requires winXP and specific USB host controllers, and so far, I haven't been able to get it work. Thanks in advance.
  4. I took a 1.6 board I have laying around and decided to do a speed-mod. I paid no attention to quality of solder joints, length of wires, or anything else that a more experienced technician might look at. I did it as quickly and as shoddy as I could, so I could show results similar to what the average Joe may expect. I'm not trying to talk it down. THIS WORKS, and that is what matters and that's what this guide is for. 1. Insert the pinheader. Hold it with one finger against the board and flip it over. Solder 1 pin on the bottom side in place. Make sure your finger is not touching this pin on the other side. Let it cool, and then look to solder the opposite corner (diagonally). Don't let your finger touch that pin this time, and solder it in place. Now you can stop pressing on the opposite side with your finger, and just solder all of the rest of the pins in place. (A MUCH better way than using your finger, is to add a drop of super glue between the plastic holding the pins, and the board. Don't let it touch the metal or it will cook away in a very eye-irritating vapor.) 2. Now we're going to attach the wires to rebuild the lpc. On the top is the guide you should use. On the bottom is the demo job I did, and yours should look similar or better. You'll notice on the bottom picture, the LFrame/D0 wire is soldered to a pad you don't see anywhere else. The guide tells you to solder it to the chip, and the chip has a pad for it. That's not necessary. Just solder it to the pad I show you. That pad is ground, and grounding LFrame/D0 causes the Xbox to boot from LPC instead of the onboard rom. Doing this allows you to take the chip off at will for hotswapping/flashing other chips. (The dark colorations in the bottom pic are not burns. I use rosin-core solder. I usually clean it off to look nicer, but in this case I was trying to demonstrate a real-world normal job someone might do.) 3. Now it's time to get the Aladdin ready to go in. It has features built in for xbox live, which no longer exists for the original Xbox... so we need to defeat those features. Solder the BT pad on the Aladdin to the pad shown. This will enable the chip as soon as power is pressed. 4. Now you're ready to fit your chip and test it out. It mounts on the pinheader like this:
  5. Hi all, I'm talking about 1 of the 2 XBOXes I bought used. I am in the process of cleaning them as best as possible. One was sold as modded and is clearly modchipped/TSOPed, as it displays "Xecuter2" on boot just by pressing the power button once. So I disassembled the other one, sold without any mention about modchip. Because I didn't know it was modchipped I was going to clean dust and remove clock capacitor but when I tore it apart I did see this chip installed on board: After a good cleaning and putting it back I tried to power it on by pushing power button for 2-3 seconds and I get a bootscreen with "Xecuter2" mark instead of "Microsoft", but I have the same (stock) dashboard as before. I did read that before removing the clock capacitor, having a modchip installed, I must use a suitable (kinda new) BIOS in order to avoid "clock loop" problem. Now that I'm there, what can I do to update this modchip? I have TruHexen2019 dvd iso downloaded from somewhere, if could be useful. I'm kinda familiar with tweaking things in general, as well as other consoles, but I'm just a noob about Xbox modding, so please be kind and patient
  6. Hi, I have just bought a v1.6 xbox with an xecuter 3 modchip and for some reason it has an evox m8 bios that it boots from. I'm trying to get to flashbios to install an x3 bios but I have 2 issues: 1. No dip switch combo will bring up flashbios, it will just refuse to boot except for the one that has the m8 bios. 2. Pressing power and eject together will usually not make the chip go into recovery mode and if it does I have no video. Is this because I'm using a wii2hdmi mod and the resolution is too high? Obviously as theres no X3 bios on the chip I cant hold white and boot as x3 config live isnt on there due to no x3 bios. Is there any way I can use evox and flash flashbios 3.0.1 onto one of the bios banks? Thanks in advance
  7. Hi I recently installed and openxenium modchip chip. It is working flawlessly. I want to do two things with the Xbox. Number one I want it to play the library of Xbox games. Number to I want to make it an emulation box. Here are the problems I'm running into. 1) when I try to install Rocky 5 XBMC emu station via FTP it locks up with just a few kilobytes left during the transfer. I have tried to build my own version and use the pre-built version. 2) second thing is I want to replace the dash with a good dash and I'm looking for recommendations. 3) is there any software that will rebuild a hard drive to bone stock? Or a listing of what would reside on the hard drive in a bone stock as new Manor? Thanks in Advance, Rob
  8. is there an alternate place to solder the d0 port than the chip ? im trying to do a hotswap to reflash my other chip
  9. hi, i have got my xbit 1.5 to work after 5 days messing with it i have loaded the iND-BiOS.Beta.Feb-11-05.67.bin (256k) and when i start the xbox i see a screen saying ind bios. but then it load to the standart dashboard with no new options. do i need now a hexen dvd and make a softmod to unlock everything? i thought when you dissable the modchip the xbox will start up in stock config, but when i softmod it this will still be active. what should i do next after booting the new bios: make a softmod or get another dashboard? i think it goes only like this: softmod and then the installation of a dashboard. thanks for your advice
  10. Hello guys! I just dug through every single corner of my parents basement.. With success I found my first ogXbox! That I remember my dad knew someone who modded those. I also remember it was of course. Tons of installed games But my question, what modchip is this? I can't really remember what it was... And I can't turn it on yet.... Have to remove clock cap, cleaning and so on. So now I've got my first OGXbox and my new OGXbox Some pictures: (https://photos.app.goo.gl/ouR38ZZmJor4v6PK6)
  11. I got a used modded xbox today. As I am stupid, instead of reading much into it, I tried to update from Evox m7 to m8 plus. In the update zip I downloaded, there was not only the M8 bios, but also a file called flashbios_v303.bin. I thought that would be the right file to flash, so I did. It seems like the bios is not compatible with my mod chip. While I am able to boot and select a file to flash from the HDD (I tried to flash an old file), it just gives me the error "Unkown flash! Halting". Is there anyway to make flashbios write onto my modchip so I have a working bios again?
  12. What you see is what you get, brand new in package X3CE Xecuter 3 Kit. Accepting offers.
  13. Hi guys, I recently attempted an Aladdin XT plus modchip install on my xbox V1.0. Other then trying to suck out the solder from the LPC ports, the process was relatively smooth. When I first went to boot the box, the Aladdin instantly smoked hard so I it off. At the moment I'm trying to figure out whether it was my install error or a faulty chip. When I remove the chip and boot the xbox, it boots fine and normal. As soon as I add the chip back on, which doesn't smoke anymore, the xbox FRAGS. I tested the LPC pins and didnt get any continuity between ones I shouldnt have. I then tested to make sure the 5 and 3,3 voltages were still good and they were. I was gonna test each individual pin and see if maybe Im seeing 5V/3.3V where I shouldnt, but other then that I'm not sure if it was the install, but instead just a faulty chip. I bought it from Modchipcentral and I've gotten good stuff from them before. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Hi I'm after a bit of help; my Xbox 1.0 just crashed during a bios flash (I was using HeXen 2018) My Xbox will no longer boot (HD Error 05) and I don't have the adapter to flash my modchip on my PC. Unfortunately I can't even recall what my modchip is, and I've long since lost the PC (Parallel?) adaptor it came with. I've included a picture of the modchip, in case anyone remembers what it is. Should I buy a new modchip? My soldering skills are not great so if there is any way of salvaging this solderers chip I'd be grateful.
  15. Im having issues after installing the modchip. The chip lights up, boots, then system turns off, it does this twice, then the red green flash. No video input on screen. With chip removed from pin header the system boots normally. The DO wire was solidered to the mother board 6th pin on bottom and the chip is bridged to always be on. I did the exact same on a 1.0V Xbox and it works flawless. Not sure why this wont work, This xbox is made in china but i dont think its a 1.6 due to the date. It has a newer philips drive and newer seagate HDD. Please help!!!
  16. If you have read some of my replys to posting's you may have noticed that I am a bit anti softmod. For me If I get a Version 1 to 1.4 (1.5?) I will flash the thing if it's a version 1.6 it get's a chip. Me I use the 007AUF game hack to flash a new xbox and I have seen the compleate kit's popup on Fleebay (The game disk,USB with game save,USB to Xbox lead) it sure beats softmoding to then flash a XBOX especially if your going to do more than 1. I know some people can't solder but with the early box's conductive paint is the go. If you cant solder print the instructions and go and find a electronics tech and ask nicely for help. Go armed with a liquid bribe (Beer/Wine,Etc)helps some times. So here is your chance to convince me to softmod or even the pros and cons of soft modding or do you fit chips in version's 1.0 to 1.4 Cheers All SS Dave
  17. Hey everyone, Iv been been dealing with my modchip LCD basicly spazzing/glitching/messing up displaying its content all wrong since always.here are some picture examples. the XBMC im using is 3.5 beta . now this doesnt happen at first, it also wont occur in the smarttXX OS,nor will it occur if im browsing through the menus of XBMC, it takes about 2-5 minutes of idle beofore it starts. then it progressivly gets worse, eventually it just blanks out completely. which for it to work again i either need to restart XBMC or turn it off and on in the settings before it just does it again.. now i've troubleshooted this issue quite a bit on multiple seperate occasions, i can confirm its not just a faulty modchip, unless by some crazy coincidence, both my chips are faulty, they are both smartXX chips one is a V2 the other is an LT OPX, Ive also ruled out it being the LCD screen,iv hooked both chips up to different LCD's, im gonna rule out a faulty Xbox motherboard aswell considering both modchips are installed on different boards, both are v1.4's not sure that really matters though, and the soldering is all good, Iv updated both Chips to the latest smarttXX OS which happens to be 3403, i came from a 33somthing this was actually my most recent attemp at fixing this issue. no luck, Now i remember reading that XBMC at some point stopped caring about the LCD support (they didnt remove it but possibly broke it, and never fixed it), obviously it was pretty niche then, making it even more niche now, but i know people out there have this mod, and hopefully at least a few of you are here.. so this set me on a journey, to modify the "lcd.xlm" file, now i played around with it, basicly just removing/duplicating code into different areas, removing lines ect,i really didnt have any luck in making it not glitch out, there doesnt seem to be a way to leave lines blank, i copied the whole "navigation" layout into all the others, it seems to make it glitch out a little less which is somewhat of an improvement but at the same time not really because if left idle for to long it just crashes and displays nothing. it seems like "unknown" and XBMC are fightting for the first 2 lines of the LCD when idle, or maybe XBMC is fighting with itself for the first 2 lines, it switchs back and fourth from what the the LCD.XLM wants it to display and what "Unknown" wants it to display. for example. XBMC wants GPU TEMP-CPU TEMP FREE RAM-HDD TEMP Unkown wants GPU TEMP-CPU TEMP- FAN SPEED FREE RAM-HDD TEMP (though this is completely unreadable its usually just "[.........]" right as XBMC boots it displays the "Unknown"(see picture below) before the screen fills up normally , then the 2 lines fight, back and fourth, being readable before they start to jumble to help rule out the modchip fighting with the XBMC over what the LCD displays, i turn off the LCD in the SmarttXX OS (which should disable it alltogether) but it still comes on after it boots into XBMC (if i have it enabled), If i turn it off in XBMC and leave it on in the smarttXX OS, after a it boots into XBMC i get GPU TEMP-CPU TEMP- FAN SPEED which is how i leave it because at least it works properly, but its nice have the whole screen full rather then just 1 line it will also do this while playing games. whether the LCD is off or on in either location. for what thats worth. I decided to dig into the source code of XBMC, but since i know nothing about C++ or python, i didnt find anything that pointed twords LCD but im not to sure what im looking at to begin with, but i did find "NoseFartXBMC" which is an app of some kind anyways has anyone had any trouble with their modchip LCD's? if so did you ever fix it? if not what are you using? (chip,Dash,Dash version) any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated,
  18. Hey all this is my first post on this forum. Thought I should share the schematics for the old AussieChip Dual Mod and Cheapmod mod chips. From what I understand this company went under in 2003 when the Australian government started to try and outlaw mod chips; the same time when many other governments were trying to do the same. AussieChip decided to give back to the community and release the build entirely for free. The files are for an old program called Protel though it is now called Altium Designer. Altium is very very VERY expensive (7k+ a year) though they have a free trial if you want to take a gander at the design files. I was trying to convert it for use in KiCad and Eagle though I'm not very familiar with these programs yet and the implications exports cause on schematic data. I started to do some research into seeing if any major developers such as Team Exodus released their schematics. (I really wish they would) That's how I came across this. Do you have schematics for mod chips? I encourage you to share them. In today's age we should be open sourcing old technology such as this instead of letting it die into a forgotten history. Happy modding, nerds. -iRuinLunches The contents of the zip: AussieChipModChips.zip
  19. This is my xbox 1.4v. I have 3 other boxes. I got very cavalier and loaded up truhexen 2019 disc to update the modchip bios. Of course I flashed the wrong bios. What i think may of been m8 for v1.6 boxes. It now turns on to ms dashboard but wont recognise the hexen disc anymore. As the chip is soldered to modchip guessing the hotswap or external re programming are out of the question. Is there any way to salvage this modchip? Is my only option is too remove modchip and softmod/tsop flash the xbox? Also to remove the modchip is it just the bt and do wires that need to be desoldered. Thanks for all help
  20. My start at Collecting the info on LCD installation utilizing different modchips and other means. These take me hours to create so I hope they help a few people.
  21. Hey guys, I just bought a bunch of Xboxes and try to preserve them. Therefore I remove the clock capacitor, bring on some new thermal paste and install a modchip. Now I ran into some problems on my first box : Box autostarts immediately after plugging in and restarts even after shutdown. Modchips works and boots from Slayers EVOX CD. Is there anything I made wrong so that it starts automatically ? How can I change the modchips behaviour so that I won´t have to push 3 seconds on power to start it ?
  22. Any one can identify this chip it has no marking and at startup it sais xecuter 2 but cant find an identical one

  24. Sooooo i have a MAJOR issue. I had softmodded my Xbox and accidentally unlocked the HDD now it's somewhat useless.. (User: ecstone ) provided me with some info about building a EEPROM reader, but finding each individual parts to build it is gonna take some time and there is none on sale online... I was wondering if I can just purchase a modchip and just install Hexen to a brand new HDD (500Gb) or will i still have my Error 5 code to deal with????
  25. I'm attempting to help someone with their original Xbox that refuses to boot. His family pulled it from storage around Thanksgiving and it powered on but gave error message. Initially I recommend just finding another working unit but this one holds special sentimental value. Turns out belonged to his oldest son who passed away from a brain tumor at 14. Got this as a part of his Make a Wish gift at 12 and played it constantly. So I've done softmod on Xbox, Wiis, and PS3 but never tried a modchip but was thinking that it might be a way to get this thing back up and running. Can this be done or any other ideas? I tore the system down, pulled the leaky clock capacitor, cleaned the board, checked all connections and reassembled but no go. Could use any help with this. Thanks!
