About Me

  1. Are there any issues/conflicts I need to be aware of when tsoping my xbox? Ive been running a soft mod for a week or so and have a sata 500gb HDD locked with apps, games and of course a dash, XBMC4gamers. If so I can always put the original HDD in to tsop it that way but then am I good to go with putting the 500gb back and just straight booting? OR, do I need to reinstall everything? Any specific bios reccomendations? I will be using the drive as well as the HDD and on 1.4 I think. Certainly not 1.6
  2. Hi, I’m new to anything to do with mod chips on the original Xbox so my apologies if I sound like a complete noobie. I recently purchased a Xbox of Facebook market place that has a DuoX2 (blue) mod chip installed. When the console boots is has like a green logo in the top left and Slayers 2.7 underneath the Xbox logo at the bottom of the screen (I’ll add a photo to explain what I’m talking about). Then it boots into evolutionX dashboard I believe. I’ve dabbled with soft modded Xboxes before and wanted to take a crack at a mod chipped one but I’m worried I’ll brick the console if I just try and re flash bios and install a new dashboard. So long story short, is it possible to update the bios on the mod chip to someone a little more recent like EvoX M8 or something? The Xbox is 1.4 console. I opened it and cleaned the console of dust and re did the thermal paste and fixed the DVD belt prior to wanting to update the dashboard and mod chips Bios. any help is much appreciated. Kind Regards, Karl
  3. I have an xbox slim without a dvd drive. The 40 GB hard drive starts up without a problem. Unfortunately 320 gb disk, frozen logo. I have formatted the disk several times and unfortunately the same continues. If the dvd drive is plugged in, the xbox will boot without problem. Any suggestions?
  4. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Also, if it's stupid I'm sorry, I don't really know anything about electronics yet. I'm thinking about the possibility to convert the memory units ports of the S controller to put in a lithium battery and something like a bluetooth transmitter. I'm totally noob, so actually I don't know if this would actually work, with a usb bluetooth receiver plugged in or wired to one of the controller ports. Since it is the original controller no drivers would be needed and it should work like it was plugged in with a cable. I was also thinking about using the same kind of transmitters that are used in keyboards or mouses. I made some research on the net but seems that nobody did or even tried doing something like this with an S controller. Is that because this mod won't actually work?
  5. Hello, I am new to the original Xbox community (Recently picked up a 1.0 and am working on getting it modded) and was wondering if there are any benefits of having a modchip over TSOP Flashing. I know that 1.6 rev. boards need a chip to be hard modded but I've also scene people install LCD's of the front of their chipped consoles, so I was curious as to what kind of info gets displayed on em, and if there are any other chip-exclusive functions.
  6. All, I just recently ressurected my old xbox, and upgraded it to a 2tb drive. I had to upgrade the bios on the chip in order to properly have the system see all the new space. I did so by using the hexen disc. So this worked, but now if i use the Xecutor bios, it takes a little over 10 seconds for it to get to the boot animation screen. If i use evox, its a little quicker, but not by that much. Anything i can do to increase the speed? On the old xecutor bios it was instantaneous. Thanks in advance!
  7. Hi! I am new here, so i am not sure if this is the right section to post this in. I am wondering if anyone has a clue which mod this is: Thank you for your time!
  8. Well a little history behind this dvd drive, my first console was a 1.0 xbox with dvd drive fault(the one who distroy disk) bad power supply and caps disaster, so in the 2010 or 2012 that console decides die frying the nvidia chipset the mpcx3 or something but that was the last time turn on.... anyway the think is the first time that console fail my father take to a repair shop (change the dvd drive) so that dvd drive Has been with me since 2005, so today I disassemble that dvd drive coz It was getting stuck when open or closed the tray plus bad motor belt, so the interesting stuff I found is the dvd drive was hacked or modded with wires soldered inside to specific points I remember read something about that a lot time ago modding lg dvd drivers and flashing a custom firmware in the drive but I dunno if was true or just a random guy on internet, anyway here some pics about that mod also to make work that driver I need grab power from the hdd molex connector The yellow wires end in the dvd conector on the Xbox make work like a original one
  9. Just a theoretical pondering as I could not find any info on it. I know you can null a HDD key on a soft mod’d xbox so I was wondering if it was possible to null and lock a hdd using a tsopd xbox then transfer it into the soft mod’d xbox? Cheers
  10. Picked up a crystal green OG last week. When I power it on I’m getting 3X boot and frag. The person I bought this from suggested I flash bios but he doesn’t remember what mod chip or bios it has running now.
  11. i know there is a way to mod an og xbox to use an xb1 controller but has anyone found a way to put an xb1 controllers circuit boards into an og xbox s controller shell?
  12. if u could put a setting in a mod menu to increase the deadzone for the controllers then that would be awesome. alot of games seem to have super low deadzones and it causes drift unless the controller is brand new.
  13. Hi all. Came across my old original modded Xbox in loft the other day and had a play and realised I’d missed it. Decided to get back into the scene and do some updates on it. Increase hard drive from 160gb to 2tb and a few other bits and pieces.. i have the old Aladdin Advanced mod chip which boots to evox on long power press and stock on short. Now as Xbox live is no longer a thing on original Xbox, I’ve no further need to keep booting to stock as default. Whats the best way to alter it to have it boot with the chip active all the time? Or is there still a benefit to dual boot? If so can I switch the long and short presses around? Been a long long time since I messed with these things. All help appreciated.
  14. I still have the first modded box i bought from 15 years ago that got me into soft modding. Did these require a game save exploit to install unleash?
  15. Have a couple modded xboxes from back in the day that ive been messin around with. my skills are rusty as hell. Im trying to start fresh with a splinter cell exploit but cant seem to find the game save anywhere. Can i copy the game save from an already modded box?
  16. Hi guys, I posted this on a few xbox groups and thought i'd share it here too. I basically remove the jewel, use a dremel to make a circular hole where the jewel was and then attached a round 800 x 800 pixel (3.4") lcd. The video is provided by a small media player such as the Sumvision Cyclone +2 but i am also going to set it up with a raspberry pi zero to save space. Using the small media player means having to lose the dvd rom due to space confinements. The interface between the lcd and media player is a HDMI to MIPI pcb with 50 pin flat ribbon cable, you can find them on most china electronics websites. The video is just some boot videos i found and stitched together. This media player can loop playback on start up provided the video is placed in a folder in the root of an SD card or USB stick named AUTOPLAY
  17. What should I do now? I got a copy of truehexen 2019 and Hexen 2018 here, trying to figure out what I should do from here to make it look nicer and get the most out of this. The chip I used is an Aladdin XT+4032
  18. I want to replace whole cooling so I'm looking for some good options. I searched the internet for Vantec ones but they are long gone. Anyone know some that could fit in screw holes?
  19. Hi everybody. I recovered my old X from the storage. After some meddling with the HDD, I could put it back to work. Hope everything is OK with everybody. Good modding, and good gaming!
  20. I have a chip modded xbox that when powered up will go to the MS dash board. If you hold the power button down a few seconds it will activate the chip and will boot-up, turning the XBOX logo blue and if there is a game in the DVD drive it will load the game. If there is no game in the drive then it will go to the MS dash board. How do I get the Xbox to load the xbmc dash board when the mod chip is activated? I have tried Auto Installer Deluxe v 4.45 to install the dash boards from the disc to the E: retail hard drive but none have worked, when I re-start the xbox with mod chip activated it will go to the MS dash board. I have tried to use the Hexen 2018 installation disc, but the xbox will not read the disc. Please could someone help me to set up the dash board so that when the mod chip is activated it will boot to xbmc dash board? If you can help, please explain in simple terms because I am not good at these things, a total novice. Thank You.
  21. i tried this fix https://web.archive.org/web/20090203223828/http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/ComaConsole.htm and it changed nothing. i've heard a mod chip would work. can anyone give me info on this? preferably a cheap one since i don't even know if the xbox is any good.
  22. Hi All! First time poster here. I pulled my old soft modded Xbox original out of storage a few weeks back because of the quarantine. Has been a lot of fun sharing all the old games and emulators with my son! Tonight he accidentally clicked on Xbox Live on one of the games and went thru the menu options. I caught it before he got too far i thought. No such luck! Now when i boot the Xbox and try to do the CD start (select song copy copy create new soundtrack) I get an error that too many soundtracks are created. I have tried the <<EggsBox>> trick and it does not work. It just relaunches the Xbox and keeps coming back with the same error. I have spent the past 3 hours reading every forum I could find on here and other sites and I can not find a solution. I created this thing at least 15 years ago and have not modded an Xbox sense. When i created it I remember using a method that included FTPing into my Xbox and transferring all of the files. No modchip.I do not remember the actual name of the mod i used back then. I have read a lot about re-soft modding the Xbox. I am wondering the following: 1. Is there any way for me to figure out what the original soft mod was without being able to get into the launch screen? 2. If i re-soft mod the Xbox will I lose all of the files/games I have on the Xbox? Any help would be much appreciated! I'm really trying to fix this thing because my son now thinks he is the reason this thing is broken and believes we'll never be able to get it back. I would love to prove to him that his dad still has it and can figure this out! Thank you all in advance!
  23. Access to RGB and HV signals on the motherboard - YES. Output voltage correction/boost - Can be made. Bios - what bios to use? Since all custom bios are fake VGA mode. Talking about REAL VGA, bypassing encoding chip and directly tapping into nvidia chip.
  24. Hello everybody, I have a problem with my old xbox with amd duox2 modchip.. i would be happy if anyone could help.. (sorry my english, i'm not a native speaker) I stopped using this xbox years ago because the DVD tray open and close casually, with no input from me (-> MAIN PROBLEM). Yesterday I decided to fix it: since every weld looked ok but the motherboard was very dusty, I tried to clean it up gently with compressed air and remove welding dirt from motherboard with the help of a cotton stick and alcohol. BEFORE the cleaning: - xbox powered up booting customer bios every time i plug it to the power, I could switch off by pushing the eject button; - xbox powered up with original bios if I switch off (pushing eject button) and then again switch on by pushing the eject button; - the power on/off button (smaller one) never worked as I can remember; - DVD tray open and close casually (and continuosly), with no input from me, with both bios. AFTER the cleaning: - xbox no more power up when I plug it to the power (no blinking led light on the modchip); - xbox powered up with original bios if I switch on by pushing the eject button; - xbox power on/off button (smaller one) still doesn't work; - DVD tray still open and close casually (and continuosly), with no input from me. Since I didn't mod the xbox by myself at the time, I looked some tutorial but I didn't find anyone using my setup. I don't know why I have BT point welded to the front panel.. When the xbox was modded everything worked fine for a while, then I remember I got some problems and a friend did something at the weld on the motherboard.. I can't remember exactly (>15 years ago). I'm not an expert but it seems to me that there is a bad connection somewhere.. Are there anything I can try to find the problem? Can I simply remove/unweld the modchip and get the xbox work like when it was original? THX
  25. I got a used modded xbox today. As I am stupid, instead of reading much into it, I tried to update from Evox m7 to m8 plus. In the update zip I downloaded, there was not only the M8 bios, but also a file called flashbios_v303.bin. I thought that would be the right file to flash, so I did. It seems like the bios is not compatible with my mod chip. While I am able to boot and select a file to flash from the HDD (I tried to flash an old file), it just gives me the error "Unkown flash! Halting". Is there anyway to make flashbios write onto my modchip so I have a working bios again?
