Hi awesome Ogxboxers, So I got another query here and I'm not sure if it has been answered already....so basically I got one of the first versions of the NEOYA X2VGA adapters (pic below) and have to say it works flawlessly on my 1.0 and 1.2 boxes. Image quality especially on a decent PC CRT monitor rivals that of the Dreamcast VGA box. But when I try it out on my 1.6 I get a purple tint on the whole image. I've played around with the dip switches on the adapter and the issue persists. So my question is has this ever been resolved possibly by flashing a specific BIOS to the modchip? Or did 1.6 owners who also bought one of these awesome adapters had to live with it for the last 15 years or so?

This HDMI mod replaces the AV port completely and offers an HDMI port instead for convenience. The Installed HDMI mod does look like this: The HDMI mod does offer 5.1 sound through the HDMI port. If you don't need 5.1 (or your TV might not support it) you can simply disable 5.1 audio and get digital stereo audio instead. For those who want to add an optical output to there Xbox the HDMI mod does offer 3 solder points to add a TOTX178 optical transmitter. To get the HDMI mod installed you first need to get the AV-port removed. To get it removed you could either use a hot-air station or a heat-gun to remove it at once. But that would put a lot of thermal stress on the board! The better and recommended alternative is to disassemble the Port and remove it one part at a time. First desolder the Metal Tab holding it in place by heating them and prying the metal tab up to pull it out. When the metal tab is removed take a sidecutter and clip off all the pins from the video port as they are what keeps the Port in place. When they are clipped off you can take the port cover off by simply pulling it upwards. Next step is to remove the remaining plastic piece and desolder the rest of the pins and clean up the area a little. Position the first Adapter exactly as show in the photo. The red arrow marks the PTH that has to be alligned centered. Once Positioned solder all the marked points down and make sure they are properly connected before continuing with the second adapter! After soldering all the necessary points insulate the 2 soler points shown in green. A piece of kapton tape works well. You should do this to be sure there's no unwanted connection occuring between the 2 adapter pcbs. Next up is the second adapter. Just position it above the first adapter using the 2 big holes to allign them and solder down the marked points. Again check continuity before continuing with the next PCB! Last PCB is the HDMI mod itself. You need to position it slightly off centered on the second PCB. The HDMI ports pins will be position it correctly. Just solder down the points that are marked with the red arrows and the install is almos done! Last up is setting the Video mode. You need to add 2 small bridges on the bottom side of the PCB. Just solder in the 2 bridges and the video mode is set correctly! If you want to use the optical out you can easily add a toslink port to the HDMI mod by simply soldering a Transmitter to the 3 marked pins.

Why do people like the hexen disk? I have a version 1.4 xbox with a Open Xenium with a Ind-5004.67 bios and a X2-5035.137 bios and that's set as the default boot bios For the test install I used a 2 tb hard drive 1st load the hexen 2020 disk and cold boot. 2nd use option 3 (TSOP Flashed,Modchiped) 3rd use Option 3.5 (Chipped) 4th option 3.5.3 (New disk NTSC) now enter a password (friggen stupid idea) now sit back and watch it install all sorts of files and folders including a folder called ''Delete Me "". Let Xbpartitioner 1.3 do it job and now I can reboot the Xbox without Hexen and it boots to unleash dash. Ok I wan't XBMC so load Hexen disk and use Install Applications then install XBMC, More files been installed and more Delete Me folder files! I also wanted XBMC4Gamers so I added that as as Application and the same Delete Me stuff. Reboot the Xbox without the Hexen disk and unleash opens now it now has a XBMC icon so press A to load XBMC and nothing it comes back to the unleash dash but it works if I run it from the apps folder and so does XBMC4Gamers. Now I really want XBMC4Gamers as the default dash so I loaded up the Hexen disk and used the option 5 Dashboard tools Then switch Switch dashboards option 5.1 and there is no XBMC4Gamers but XBMC will do for now so I set that as the default dash on E drive(that's also where I installed XBMC and XBMC4Gamers) And now reboot the Xbox without the Hexen Disk and it now locks up after the boot animation. And using the IND bios is the same it locks up at the white IND bios screen. Ok so lets load the hexen disk again and set the dash back to Unleash and reboot it now will boot to Unleash again. The Hexen disk is now out on the road some where after it was as a frisbee out the door. So now I load Slayer 2.7 and complete new large drive install and reboot FTP XBMC4Gamers to E drive and also FTP Xbpartitioner 1.3 to E drive Open file explorer to run Xbpartitioner 1.3 and Format F and G drives to 926.78 gb each FTP back to the Xbox and edit the X2config file on E drive to set xbmc4gamers on the E drive as the 1st boot dash Now reboot the Xbox and now I have XBMC4Gamers as the default dash and can set about copying me games and the like across. And this folks is why I love Hexen. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Looking for suggestions for Led lighting for a case mod. I would prefer not to solder anything. I would like to connect to an extra molex connector from recent hdd upgrade. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks

After upgrading my xbox HDD, it not only boots and runs 10 times slower, but the DVD drive now doesn't read any disk I put into the disk drive even official xbox games. It just says unknown. Now I don't mind the system booting up slower, but not reading anything in the disk drive is a major problem. I followed this tutorial exactly (I used the exact parts and followed all steps)

Hello, i have 2 xbox, my xbox 1.2 2003 and i have one xbox 2004 1.6 my xbox 2004 is with xbmc4gamer with c shadows and my 2003 xbox is with xbmc4gamer without c shadows, rocky 5 recognize my 2003 as hardmode but is not a flash tsop is stock. My xbox 2003 read game pal in french and my xbox 2004 with the same satting dont read game pal in french but certain games in ntsc read in french. I have all try but the difference with 2 xbox is the c-shadows, the problem must comes from there. in the dashboard microsoft is french setting and on xbmc4gamer pal french france et read game in pal-60. In the c shadows are there any language settings to freeze? How to solve my problem ? My 2 xbox have 2 to hard drive. Can you help me ! Sorry for my english i speack french and i live at canada quebec and i dont use traductor.

Here's a custom mod I did back in 2008 of an Xbox converted over to a Xbox 360 case. I was running UnleashX using an 360 skin. It's funny looking at my old photos and seeing what things I did. Lots of improvising. Notice the rear of the case? haha

All, I just recently ressurected my old xbox, and upgraded it to a 2tb drive. I had to upgrade the bios on the chip in order to properly have the system see all the new space. I did so by using the hexen disc. So this worked, but now if i use the Xecutor bios, it takes a little over 10 seconds for it to get to the boot animation screen. If i use evox, its a little quicker, but not by that much. Anything i can do to increase the speed? On the old xecutor bios it was instantaneous. Thanks in advance!

Hey guy, I've been having an on going issue with my xbox's lcd screen. I've had the screen installed for atleast 6 months and im happy with it. But it seems it constantly blanks out mid game and sometimes will come back after a few minutes, there is a few times where the screen will actually dim(more than what I have it set to) then blank out shortly after. I've also notice after booting if I go into settings and switch it on and off it will not go blank. I've gone through the lcd.mxl and revamped it to removed most scrolling texts or any character that isn't supposed by the 2004a lcd, reflowed my solder, reprogramer my arduino, reflashed my openxenium but still no luck. Hi, I have an OG Xbox with an unknow (to me) Mod, it was given to me maybe 10 years ago as it is now. The mod chip has a paper backing with no writing and the other side only has info re: the jumpers (pic), no identifiers that I could find. The boot screen shows XECUTER2 (pic) and the dashboard it goes to shows RemoteX v1.8.2812. It'll play backed up games and had one game loaded to the HDD listed in apps (not games), but due to E: being low on free space I deleted the data files for said game so it is up to over 4GB free now. I tried to upgrade the HDD with a 500GB SATA HDD using a PATA to SATA adapter (setting the jumper as needed) but the system would boot to a service error. I then tried a known good IDE drive which lead to the same error. Unless that is not a mod chip and this is soft modded? I have HeXEn 2018 on DVD, booted to that and tried to install Chimp to E so that I could clone the data to another drive. It installs but when I go to my dashboard I do not see chimp but the files are on E: Any ideas if this is soft modded or is that indeed a modchip? Suggestions on how to proceed in getting another HDD in the system? I don't need any of the data on there, would just like to be able to get the drive in and FTP over some games. Hello, so i bought a modded xbox off someone and instantly started messing. I booted up rocky5s dashboard and liked it, i followed a guide to get it to boot into rocky5s dashboard on start up but i clearly did something wrong and replaced the wrong file as it reset and then im stuck on a bootup loop. It goes as far as saying evox in the top left and then resets so i have no time to get into ftp and restore what i did. Could anyone advise me what to do please. As i said i bought if off someone so i didnt mod it myself Thanks

I've softmodded my first xbox and I upgraded the HDD and I've heard about the wonders of Emulators, Homebrew ect ect, now I'm wondering where do I download emulators lets say for the N64 or Sega Genesis? All help is appreciated.

Hello, I am new to the original Xbox community (Recently picked up a 1.0 and am working on getting it modded) and was wondering if there are any benefits of having a modchip over TSOP Flashing. I know that 1.6 rev. boards need a chip to be hard modded but I've also scene people install LCD's of the front of their chipped consoles, so I was curious as to what kind of info gets displayed on em, and if there are any other chip-exclusive functions.

Hi guys, So I was given an Xbox 1.0 from a friend that is chipped and has a 120gb HDD. Unfotunately the chip does not have support for HDD larger than 120gb and I am unable to flash the chip's BIOS (evox says it is not flash writeable). I'm basically in a bind to find a guide on how to softmod this box and tsop it from a modchip because I don't know what type of chip it is and how to disable it. Hello everyone, I have a little problem with a softmoded Xbox with an Ndure, XBMC4Gamers main dashboard, Unleash alternative dashboard and equipped with a 500 GB hard drive. The console has about 80 working games on F and G partitions. The problem is that some get corrupted when I try to put others on the hard drive. The home artwork disappears and sometimes I can no longer launch the game. I noticed that some files were getting corrupted. The copied games do not launch or I have an "unreadable disc" message ... I have tried various things but have not been able to resolve this issue. I forgot to say that I have about 30 GB left available on G ... I would like to point out that this problem is only present on the G partition, the one I mainly use in fact ... I even tried to copy games via DVD2XBOX but they are not copied correctly and will not launch, while the application does not report any copy error ... After having thought about it, I tell myself that what produces these "instabilities" or these bugs is the fact of having via the FTP recorded and then erased such or such game many times, which causes the hard drive to be completely fragmented. I understand that it is useless in principle to defragment the HDD but at some point it must be necessary ... No? Has anyone ever had this problem? What I plan to do is move all the functional content to an external HDD via FTP and then re-inject everything cleanly so that I can then have these remaining 30 GB on the G partition without any problem. Thank you for reading me, hoping that some will provide me with an explanation and possibly an alternative solution ...

Hi all, I've been googling and searching and not finding an answer to this. I fired up my Xbox today (first time in a while) and got a notification that a new version was available. I went into the settings, updated the URL downloader and then did the XBMC4Gamers update. After a bit, I got a message that "autoexec.py" or something like that failed. Now I'm stuck at a screen that says XBMC Fatal Error: No suitable skin version found (see screenshot) I am able to FTP into the xbox just fine. I did find some mention of a guisettings.xml file but I can't seem to find where it might be and where I can get a replacement for it (if that's even the problem) My default dash is/was xbmc4gamers, BTW. I would appreciate any help!

just got another xbox and after softmodding and TSOPing it, both temperatures show 0.00C. any idea why? it's a 1.1. clock cap leaked but the acid did not reach the ADM1032 chip. there's a lot of rust in the cage though, and a nasty dent on the board near the power suply.

Just bought an Xbox V1.0 dirt cheap. It has a switch on the side, on the inside two wires are hooked up to the switch. One goes to ground and the other lead is hooked up somewhere on the underside of the motherboard. Starting to suspect the switch disables a TSOP ... is my assumption correct here?

It has literally been over 10 years since I've played it. One of the bootup screens says "Xecutor2" at the bottom, so that tells me that much at least. My main question is the three (3) dip switches on the front of the console. Someone else installed it for me, and I forget what each of them does. I think that the left-most one controls whether or not the modchip is active; you wanted to toggle that one off if you ever went onto XBox Live, I think. Can anyone help?

Hi modding noob and first time poster here..just need some help with the IGR function on this xbox 1.6 I bought used. Everytime I try to use the button combination for IGR the console goes back to the logo then the screen blanks out. I would then need to do a hardboot to get back to the dash. Another thing I noticed is I need to hold the power button for at least 2 seconds to get the chip to load the custom bios or else it would just give out an error code. Plus for some strange reason the chip isn't flashable according to evox, though I know these aladdin chips should be flashable? I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the modchip probably not wired correctly, so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. 136470232_800537637170333_6562823261258646262_n.mp4

Hi, I’m new to anything to do with mod chips on the original Xbox so my apologies if I sound like a complete noobie. I recently purchased a Xbox of Facebook market place that has a DuoX2 (blue) mod chip installed. When the console boots is has like a green logo in the top left and Slayers 2.7 underneath the Xbox logo at the bottom of the screen (I’ll add a photo to explain what I’m talking about). Then it boots into evolutionX dashboard I believe. I’ve dabbled with soft modded Xboxes before and wanted to take a crack at a mod chipped one but I’m worried I’ll brick the console if I just try and re flash bios and install a new dashboard. So long story short, is it possible to update the bios on the mod chip to someone a little more recent like EvoX M8 or something? The Xbox is 1.4 console. I opened it and cleaned the console of dust and re did the thermal paste and fixed the DVD belt prior to wanting to update the dashboard and mod chips Bios. any help is much appreciated.
