These past few weeks have been a real voyage of rediscovery as I hadn't softmodded an xbox in years and the scene has changed so much - Rocky 5 was completely new to me. I was wondering how to go about installing XBMC on startup - which version is the best etc... Sorry for sounding like such a noob but this is all new to me again. I have coin ops, games and emulators like the Megadrive and Snes already installed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello It has been a while since I've messed around with Ninja and was wondering since I have a drive thats split into two 70 gig parts f &g how do I get lets say a folder with games in it to show in Ninja? So lets say I put everything in F drive but some games didn't fit how do I make those show in ninja? I saw no option to "scan" folders.... Thanks !!!

I quess the title says it all. Could someone in simple english tell me how to install xbox skins. I download Kaosengneer 10 skins and can't get them to work. I made a folder names Skins on my E drive FTP'd them in there but they don't show up. Thanks

Hi, I have XBMC running as my main dash. In the UnleashX dash which I can load to from the file explorer, there is a XBMC heading that doesn't work, to get it to load XBMC do I just load a XBMC xbe and cfg to the C or E partition? Thanks in advance. G

as the title says, I want to change the location of the music in the folder E: \ TDATA \ fffe000 to one of the following partitions F: \ or G: \. Because I installed almost the DLCs and it rest 100mb, and E: has a small storage about 4.8gb. I would like to install my music and listen to it in PGR2. So i ask is there a option to change soundtrack location?? UPDATE:I got it working, its piece of cake , it's just change location inside XBE, and copy the folder TDATA\FFFE0000 in E\ to F\. Thats all. Also i changed the location of XBOX Soundtrack Editor to look directly to F\DATA\FFFE0000. I tested in PGR2,FORZA,GTASA and its working!! Before : After :

Now go into the systems panel and go to sound, click yes to deactivate whatever is running, this will make sound work, it seems it doesn't work by default. open firefox and download https://archive.org/details/GrimFandangoDemo go into the file manager, rename .exe to zip and unpack, right click on grim demo exe and pick run with wine. Simple as pie, most games will not run using this wine method cause the wine in Xdsl is ancient and there doesn't seem to be any 3d acceleration in wine (maybe somebody can port the latest wine to xdsl?) so grim runs i think in some sort of 3d software mode, but it's full speed. You will need to solder usb ports to your fourth joystick port to use a keyboard/mouse to play grim fandango (thats what I did aeon ago) or buy a joystick2keyboardmouse adapter.

I already know how to use the tools to softmod. But where can I learn about how the game exploits are used to softmod, from a technical point of view? Like with Splinter Cell, you load up a bad save, there's a buffer overrun somewhere, jumps to some arbitrary code that XXXX? I assume the exploit code installs a new dashboard and everything, but doesn't Xbox also do a signature check to make sure that the code is signed before allowing it to run?

Every game run on this emu suffers from screen tearing. The only way that I found to circumvent this issue is to go into: Configuration -> Video Configuration -> Other Video Configurations -> Xbox Hardware Filtering and change it to Bilinear Filtering, but the image is too soft for my liking. By default, it is set to Point Filtering, and software filter: None Any alternatives?

I successfully cloned my 100GB Maxtor to a Seagate 1TB drive using CHIMP. All my data, games, skins, etc were intact on the new drive. Then I went to use CHIMP to extend my partitions on my master drive (the Seagate) so it would recognize all 1TB but much to my chagrin when I rebooted I seemed to lose everything, including my skins, my emulators, and my Xbox games (there were about 100GB worth). The menu shows the categories and a barebones UnleashX skin but nothing inside them. How do I extend my partitions on my cloned drive so I get the full 1TB without losing my current UnleashX setup?

I've seen several UnleashX skins show the game picture/icon next to the name of the game. But they don't show up with any of the games i've put on the hdd. Am I missing something in the game folder itself or a setting I need to modify in UnleashX? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a few big games (> 4GB) ripped from Game DVDs on PC by PowerISO. But I don't know how to split or slice them into smaller ISOs. Does anyone happen to know any method and tools that is able to do that, so that I can FTP them to Xbox and play the smaller ISO directly from Xbox? ** (my xbox DVD ROM is too old to read most CD/DVDs nowadays, not even the newly burned HeXEn DVD) Thanks Peter

(* Its HDD content actually is softmoded, but due to old HDD failing, I cloned the content to the current HDD which is not lockable, thus had to use the spiderchip again) One of disadvantage of modchip is it doesn't support playing game from ISO directly, But nkpatcher seems only for softmod. Therefore, I searched and managed to find out from the post http://www.emuxtras.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=187&t=3228&start=20, about using the amazing console app "cdrom_modchip" to load the ISO file. It works greatly without needing to config or code anything., except having to run/load the patcher every time after the xbox restart. Does anyone have any idea how to load the patcher.xbe automatically when the DASH started. From the post above, it was mentioned about configing the IND_Bios.cfg ( the order of DASH1, DASH2, DASH3 etc). But I don't like ind_bios, as I feel M8 bios is much clean and faster. . Hi all, My trusty old XBox has stopped powering up (no lights or drive activity, nothing). I have opened it up to check for leaking caps. It is a 1.0 or 1.1 version, so I checked the clock capacitor which had indeed leaked so I removed it and cleaned the pcb but still no joy. Then I started testing the FoxLink PSU. The socket soldering looks ok and I found that at least the 1st coil has tension, but when measuring the pins on the mobo connector there is nothing (I also measured the Power OK and Power ON pins). I can’t see any visual damage on the PSU. Can I conclude that this PSU is dead or is this normal?

recently got a debug kit I have been trying to look for ways on how to FTP 2 debug kit. The only media this would read that will allow you to FTP is the dashboard Avalanche. These were made on the Old Source codes that's why it can read it. But you really want the Alpha version it's a special version (Alpha v0.49.1) This is the only Dash or program this debug kit will play. Once it boots up go into file manager using the CD to get there. Copy files from DVD drive into the E partition you can make a folder call it apps and place individually everything on the contents of the CD you made... once that is done you can reboot the system open Avalanche go into FTP settings. You want to change your IP address to whatever you have on flashfxp or Windows .. once you are linked you can pull off any programs that you want to make a copy for yourself. Another thing you can do is download an app called retail game loader V 1.20. This app will allow you to play retail games as well as emulators or anything the original Modded Xbox can play. How you use it is once you FTP to hard drive and is complete reset the system then under xdk launcher click on the newly installed app retail disc loader V 1.20... once that is launched it will look like the exact same Dash except now you can load anything you want. I was giving a lot of help from a lot of different sources in order to make this post to this form. Hi guys I have a softmodded xbox and would like to create a backup hard drive in case the softmodded drive in the console takes a dump! I know that the xbox hard drive is nulled! I also ftp'd the E:\ folder wich contains the eeprom.bin file to my pc for backup. Can I just ftp all the folders in the xbox hard drive to my pc to create a backup of entire drive? (I use filzilla to ftp files)

Is there a way to set up a soft-mod so that the Xbox boots directly to the game directory?

i have a bunch of old videos on my xbox i want on my computer, but i don't know how to do it.. do i have to record it through a capture card or is it possible to take the hard-drive out and get the videos

I've got a 1.6 with good traces that won't power on. If I hold the power button in I can hear the HDD spinning but nothing else happens, no video output, the led's don't light up, nothing.. Before I go about ordering the replacement transistor for the mb, I'd like to test the psu to make sure it's working, and I don't have any other 1.6's around to try it out in. I've been looking around online for 45 mins and can't find anything specific to testing the psu for correct voltage (it's a Delta if that matters, and everything looks flawless on it, no obvious problems.) If anyone can help me out with this, or has another idea of what may be the problem, I'd appreciate it immensely (and yes I have a multimeter handy :P) Cheers, Jim
