XBox Internal Hdmi Install

Recommended Posts

I've been asked about hot to internally install my HDMI mod into an Xbox. Well i finally found the time and did such an install properly!

As i don't like soldering wires all over the place i went a different route and made it a permanent install replacing the original Video Connector. Cause who would use an old composite cable if you have an hdmi out right? Audio is provided through the HDMI signal of course and it supports 5.1. And with the 3D printed plate to cover the rest off the opening it looks perfect in my eyes.

And the best part it does almost not need any modification to the Case! Well except trimming a tiny bit off the DVD caddy so it doesn't touch the PCB. The PCB itself does fit into any revision console and is relatively easy to install.

Any thoughts about the install?

XC-3730C That's my own HDMI mod. I developed it myself and built it specially for this purpose.

Damn, do you sell that? Looks amazing!

God damn this looks so cool. I could bite my own ass I just bought a upgraded console from you and didn't wait the few extra weeks to see this. Any chance of you installing this on my 128mb ram board? :D

I'm assuming thats just a really compact component converter? Is the quality/color reproduction identical or virtual identical to the regular component output? Have you noticed any input lag (there obvious will be some but if its significant is the question). If you ever end up making a few more and want to sell it as a kit I would love to buy one.

Is there any ghosting or artifacts? Also, will you offer a system with HDMI that also preserves the AV port? Reason being is sometimes, I like to connect my Xbox to a CRT monitor via component.

Yes  it does work perfectly and took quite some time to develop!

For now i only have 3 finally installed boards and will possibly offer them later on. But for now there's no internal kit offered.

No i haven't planned a version that can be installed to that position while still beeing able to keep th original video port. As you would have to hard link the component mode and that deactivates the Composite video output so the sense would be gone ayway!

Man, if you got this into the hands of the guys over at the "my life in gaming" youtube chanel there is a horde of people (myself included) that would fall all over themselves to give you their money for an install kit (assuming the image quality is on par or better than component).

@ironsniper1 Yes, they will be avaylable for sale in a while. For now i just want to have a few out there to be tested be others. When all the feedback is positive i will offer them installed to upgraded motherboards or as a diy kit to install yourself. But for now they aren't avaylable in masses. Just the few i still have as prototypes. If there is interest in testing them preferably from people within europe i still have 3 i can offer right now.

If you need testing let me know, what’s the deal. I buy it and test it?

N64 Freak & Rocky5 teaming up would be some of the most epic stuff this scene has ever seen!!!

I concur - they are both clearly the heavyweight champions of the OG Xbox.

I live in the netherlands.

I would like to test one as well,  to compare this to the mod i do right now.

I use a wii2hdmi converter,  the problem i have is that larger screens have problems with 480p in 4:3 ratio.

Took me 2 days to get all the wiring right. for the wii2hdmi for og xbox modd ... using a wii2hdmi device ordered off eBay you can also find an Alibaba and other places like this. Very inexpensive around 5 Canadian dollars. You're also going to need some sort of a donor Xbox RCA wires or component wires in order to pull this off. There is 11 connections total five of which are ground I do not suggest not adding all the ground cuz could cause interference. Had pretty good luck I made to both of them are crystal clear with no interference. I tested on version 1.0 as well as version 1.4 turned out very good. I tried to look up and down online for some sort of schematic nothing appeared. There was one picture that was in Spanish but it was misleading I tried to look into it to find out who the original inventor was found the person at XB Classics a Brazilian site. After conversating with him he told me that he had better pictures but he would not share. Then I noticed a site that they has linked where they were selling these to the equivalent of 40 US dollars a piece so that is the reason the images that they uploaded are just there to confuse people. So that they cannot make it. Does not include audio left or right. And apparently La stands for 5 V? Don't ask me but that's what the guy told me makes no sense at all. I spent two days getting the wiring correct. I documented everything and put it on a YouTube video (link2come) was trying to figure out the best way to make this readily available for everybody in the world any Xbox Enthusiast should have a low cost HDMI adapter solution available to them this is where these schematics come in. Again I didn't notice any interference at all. Just a little bit in the Bios when only running 480 but there's not much you can do unless you re Flash the BIOS to force. I've noticed people in the group posting pictures not even having soldering skills and getting very good results from this method. In theory you can use this exact same adapter in order to have an internal HDMI solution. These images are water marked because these are going to be the only good images that are online and I seen the way XB classic does their water mark and it really bugs me that they did that so I wanted to make sure that everyone knows where it came from. That being said I'm Mister James Reid really helped me out with this he volunteered his services in order to take my hard copy drawings that were on paper and make it look something presentable. Which he did and he did a great job thank you very much James I did in fact alter the images to have the watermark across them. Sorry about that but I figured since I put in the work I deserve to have my name on it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate I do not check this site every day but I do come in from time to time. Thanks again and I hope people online can use this receive money from the big corporations like pounds and hyperkin charging ridiculous amounts of money for something so cheap... I've also got a lot of questions recently about people asking if this is any better than component. It uses the component wires in order to transfer the signal into HDMI. I'm not too technical with that end but when looking up the chip number on the actual board for the Wii to HDMI adapter I did notice in there schematics and their breakdown for the actual board they did mention that the video board that does the decoding actually does video on hand splint what kind of video enhancement I have no idea. But it should be an enhancement over component if they are speaking the truth. Anyway gentleman without further delay here are the schematics. I hope this hope somebody somewhere. Thank you very much Frank

      Hello,
I have a V 1.0 Xbox that i bought modded back in 2003. around 2004 i updated the harddrive to a larger, and i did an update with Slayers disk(v2.4?)
I cannot seem to be able to identify how the xbox was modded initialy. i have a "unknown" bios version. i cannot see a installed modchip. and rocky5 softmod disk does not give me any options to update the softmod.
Would it seem that this could be an tsop fixed unit? from what i can remember, i do not think the unit was opened, so im unsure it its a tsop or softmod.
