timberland
Don't think it was ever used. The drive/card packaging was never opened, don't think the DVD's have ever been taken out of their cases. Did plug it in and it fires up, but haven't done anything else with it. I also have an old modded XBox that has been sitting in a closet for many years, recently pulled it out to play with my kids and we started reading online about replacing the cap's in them. It still works but we'll do that soon, but then I remembered we have this thing just sitting in a box. What would you do? Sell it and let a buyer open it up and fix...open it up ourselves ASAP before those cap's kill it...do nothing? Only thing I don't think we'll do is send it back to Microsoft
MadMartigan
Depending on the price, I'm sure some ppl here would interested in buying. Myself included. No point in keeping it tucked away if you're not into it. It really all depends on what YOU want to do with it. We were working on some tools to support game development and was given this by Microsoft, but never ended up needing it. Guess they never asked for it back, dev group no longer exists, and it was put in a pile of old desks, filing cabinets, and computers. We were sorting everything and this was about to be put in a pile of old PC's that we were literally going to pay a company to properly e-waste but I pulled it out. I paid about $100 for a few things including this in an employee auction. I think we put everything we raised towards a charity, which was cool, but it's just been sitting in a box for I don't know how long now.
PRince404
Give it to me, so I can finally stop procrastinating and start making Homebrew. This will be a good motivator. /s

Honestly, if I could find someone local that understood how rare it is and would give me a decent price I'd sell it in minute. My kid wants me to trade it for a PS5 Personally I'm torn. I've owned just about every game console ever made and wished I'd kept them all, so I'm fine just leaving this on a shelf to look at, but we have an original XBox that we will actually play and if someone else that's REALLY into collecting wants it then I'd be happy to let it go. Last thing I want to do is deal with random people on the internet though.

eeksdee
That's a DVT3, nice. Don't use it for anything. Literally.
SylverReZ
Definitely make a backup of the hard disk ASAP. If you encounter any unreleased content like games or demos, then talk to the Hidden Palace, as those guys know what they do best.
dtomcat
Yes. I’d love to backup the fresh drive in an unused state

Does the PCI card for the pc come with it? The rear port is supposed to connect to a PCI card.

GoTeamScotch
These things are so cool. Looks like yours is in great condition. They can be a little tricky to take apart and put back together, so if you do decide to go in and remove the clock capacitor, be careful of the metal Faraday cage fins. It's easy to bend those out of alignment. And don't forget to unscrew the back DVD emulator/serial cards first. If you do part with it, anyone who buys is probably going to be comfortable with the clock cap being inside still. It's more of a collectors piece than anything. Most folks who do develop for Xbox use modified retail consoles or Xemu (Xbox emulator for PC) these days. Point being- you're more likely going to get interest from collectors as opposed to people who will use it for development. Unless you're planning on using it, I wouldn't bother opening it. Very cool kit though.

Just what you see here + the Component cables that are inside the box with the "AV Packs" label. If there was some PCI card in a PC then I unfortunately never saw it. If there was some PCI card in a PC then I unfortunately never saw it. This is the PCI "raptor" card that goes into a PC: Just to clarify (and this is more directed at dtomcat), the HDD pictured is not one that goes into the Xbox dev kit. I doubt imaging this would be useful. If this drive was ever used, there *could* be a beta for a game/app on it, but I would be surprised because it looks brand new/sealed. So whoever had it probably didn't use it for game/disc mastering. More info (for others): these hard drives would go into a development PC and would store a game disc image that would be fed into the Xbox over a SCSI cable. If I recall, these drives are just formatted with standard FAT32/NTFS- they just need to be usable by the OS (Windows XP) so that the emulator software (included in the XDK) can read it and feed the game disc over SCSI via the raptor card. "Xbox DVD Layout Tool" is the software that handles everything on the PC side. Maybe @timberland would be willing to image the internal HDD for archiving sake? https://github.com/Ernegien/OGXbdmDumper Edited April 29 by GoTeamScotch

big F
Very nice, would love it but I would not do it justice. I wonder how many of these have ended up in the crusher at a Waste electrical recyclers. Theres one opposite an old client of mine and they said one time they saw som vintage computers proper vintage not made 5 years ago, being taken from pallets to be crushed. The client offered 5k cash to take the lot or at least some of them. we are talking Apple one vintage essentially early to mid 80’s pc’s and top end Amigas even the 8 years or so ago worth more than 5k They straight up said no, and crushed it all there and then.
