Hey everyone, I've never actually owned an original Xbox myself. My uncle had one he got on launch day, but I only ever got to use it when I went to his house. Most of my time playing OG Xbox games has been on either a 360 or Xbox One. I've come here because I have some interesting research to share on the Xbox port of Half-Life 2. HL2 can actually run some custom maps if injected into the files the right way, and I and a few others in the Source engine community are trying to figure out exactly how to make it work. We've got Garry's Mod maps working in Cxbx, so running on hardware is the next step. I've known a bit of the Xbox Scene for a while by lurking on /r/originalxbox, so hopefully I'm not a complete noob.

I copied some emulators through ftp to the G partition of my HDD, I was using WinSCP for this. When I finished, I closed the connection and then reset my Xbox with Lt+Rt+Back+Black; I got the Bios screen, the UnleashX boot screen (I'm using a custom skin, so the skin version of the boot screen appeared) and then...nothing, just a black screen. First I thought the video was bad, but that was not the case, then I tried to boot on safe mode but nothing happened. Some people on a subreddit tell me to use Hexen to install another dashboard, I don't know if this is going to work tho. Please, if you know what's wrong with my Xbox let me know, I'm scared

Hello, I am currently getting red and green flickering artifacts on my screen with all games with my Xbox. Not sure what the problem is. I have tried multiple different AV cables, televisions, and games thinking thinking that might have been the problem. But, it seems there is some major graphical error wrong with my Xbox, and googling the problem has not been easy. Does anyone know if there is a fix Thanks, Sam

Always been an avid game player about two weeks ago I purchased a original Xbox and decided to try to do some modding

As I mentioned in another thread here I recently bought a 'for parts' Xbox which is giving error 16 but the seller also included another retail HDD, almost certainly not softmodded, which is giving error 6. Pretty sure it did not come from the same Xbox so obviously locked with an unknown eeprom on another Xbox which again, obviously, I do not have. Not likely being softmodded means no master password use possible either. I've looked into methods of unlocking it and either here or on another forum somebody mentioned there are Windows programs that can do this. I'm not bothered about the content just interested in finding out if it can be unlocked preferably, via a USB connection. Any recommendations/suggestions welcome.

Hi everyone! What started out as a "simple fix" for an Xbox I won at SEGE last month has turned into a full passion for getting the most our of it. To that end, I decided to up my game out of the back of the console by going the HDMI route. I invested in the Pound Technologies Xbox HDMI HD Link Cable, and I am thrilled to report that the results are great! I think you'll be pleased with it, especially if you're still connecting to an HDTV through composite. Hi, I bought a broken XBOX version 1.6 (the seller says that softmod is installed on the XBOX), when I turn on the console it blinks three times green and then green and red (no signal on TV). I need to find out why it doesn't work. Can anyone help? Video: https://vimeo.com/423904512

Hi Team, So i have this working just fine, it has downloaded and installed 90% of the artwork. There are however some games it wont do it for. I have tried and tried for hours to do it manually, but cant seem to figure it out. i have added files individually like icon, fan art etc etc but it wont pick it up. Is there a way to set them manually??????

Have a NTSC xbox 1.0 console but live in Italy here is the 220v current,you can mod the PSU to 110v to 220v? at the moment use a step down converter and works fine.

Hello, I just softmodded my Xbox I just got this week using Rocky5. I followed Mr.Mario11's softmod tutorial and every screen corresponded. I used the softmod tools extras kit and installed the Stock MS Dash 5960. Now when I put in a game disk, the xbox logo runs with sound and then the screen goes black when trying to load game disk(have tried different CDs). I tried to FTP a game to HDD. Xbox logo loads, am able to get rocky5 dash but game does not load(Have tried different games). When loading from HDD, xbox color of disk ejection is orange still. Xbox had not been opened, original HDD. I have tried different A/V cables. It always loads the first dashboard but not the second one. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Guys I'm getting this issue with my Enter the Matrix game(NTSC). I am using an NTSC-J 1.6 Xbox with an aladin mod chip running M8plus (EvoX). I tried ripping Enter the Matrix to the console and when I play it, I get a black screen with a couple green dots. I then tried to run it straight from the Disc and get the exact same error. I then put the game in my 1.4 softmodded pal xbox and the game loads just fine. Does anyone know why this is? I have attached an image of the blank screen with dots.

Hello everybody, i got a Xbox 1.1 with Xecuter3 chip installed (soldered, purple one) here. It comes with a power and a component cable. The compontent cable was made by myself (3rd party plug + og sd-av cable) and does not show any noise (no ghosting or etc., refer to pictures). In addition the package includes a Duke controller and a controller s. Everything is in very good shape and works perfectly, only the Duke's cable insulation got a little bit loose that does not affect the the functionality in any way. I did also some refurbishment: - Clock capacitor was removed - mobo's top side was cleaned with spirit (94% alc.) - fresh thermal paste was applied on cpu and gpu - the jammed Samsung DVD-drive was replaced with a Philips DVD-drive. - installed a Samsung 400gb HDD (HD400LD, IDE) with coinops 8 massive and 80+ xbox games pre-installed (total of over 4000 games) This package costs 450 € + shipping fee (via PayPal, shipping from Germany, EU only). Hi, I just acquired a 1.0 xbox for 10€ , the guy told me that the console wasn't able to read discs, so i try to put a disc on it, it works but painfully , sometime it does (the loading time takes a long time, and the boot aswell), sometime it just don't (it goes to the ms dash like there is no disc on it), but i decided to hardmod it anyway since i'm not planing to use the dvd drive (already have all of my backups on my other xboxes). I first softmoded it with the splinter cell exploit, then i solder the bridges to flash a 256bits EVOX M8+ (F and G) bios with the hexen disc ( i wasn't sure if the 512bits was the one to choose or not), i installed an 250gb HDD from another xbox that was hardmoded aswell, but didn't bother to format it, since it has the same configuration. I made i backup of the eeprom just in case, installed XBMC4gamers, tried some games and emulators, and so far so good. BUT, once i'm in a game and want to go back to my main dash (XBMC4gamers), the console has this weird behavior, the led are blikning green, i can hear the dvd drive spin two times, while the console reboot, it has the microsoft logo, then it restart again to finally come to my main dash. Basically it's take just a little bit longer, so it's not like she didn't reboot at all, but still, it's quite annoying.. And it only does that with XBMC4gamers, as for Unleashx it's just reboot the console like she normally would. I tried to clean the hdd, by removing the xbmc folders to avoid any conflict, but that didn't change anything Any ideas why it does that? Cheers

Hello World Let's discuss about Linux on Xbox Original, and what is it good for? I've read people use it to browse the internet and even watch Youtube throught a special distributive of Mozilla. Can anyone confirm launching Linux ports of Windows games on XDSL, and which ones? Counter Strike port for Linux would be awesome, never tried that, but found a port of 1.4 or 1.5 on the web. Maybe anyone kept a website on Xbox, by using it as server? What I was most impressed of, is the posibility of running a cluster of Xbox-es, tried that few years ago, but the update links for that distro were all dead, hope somebody has an image of a Linux distributive with everything set up or maybe can point on how to fully install everything in 2018. Hey guys, i' got this 1.6 PSU that seems to be turning the 12v line OFF after some time until it stops feeding it at all. The PSU was burned and repaired by other than me. It seems to be working perfectly, as i made a jumper from the 12v capacitor and it does indeed boot and work for hours, so it must be some component that's responsible for turning off the 12v line on it that is shorted or not operating properly. The thing is, i can't see any damaged component. All the other lines do work and the power button does seem to function. I've been trying to track what component turns off the 12v line when i turn off the console, but to do that i'd need a spare 1.6 PSU which i don't have at the moment. It's a Delta PSU by the way. I've made another post on this forum about the issue but it was in the wrong section. Also i didn't had a clue about what was making the PSU turn off until i found it was the 12v line.

Hello everyone, first off all, excuse for my English as I am Brazilian I just got an Og Xbox 1.0 with Xecuter2 and I'm still learning a lot about this beauty but I have a problem and maybe someone here can help me. I was browsing the forum but found nothing on this specific matter. The Xbox works fine except for one thing: the controller keeps disconnecting. It came with some 3rd party controllers and an adapter for PS2 controllers, so no original controller for me. The funny thing is that when it disconnects I only can make it work again when I wrap the cable around the controller and make my way unpluging and pluging it back. Someone told me that it could be caused by a faulty cable on the controllers but I checked the cables with a multimeter and they appear to work fine. The PS2 adapter sometimes work and sometimes do not work, but the LED on the adapter is always on. I also disassembled the box for cleaning and to take off the clock capacitor (that was leaked btw), time when I also checked the daughterboard to see if it was faulty, and it was not. Given the situation, I can only think of two options: 1. the 3rd party controllers and adapter are really crappy and don't work fine with the console and I should get an original controller; or 2. my daughterboard is defective and should be replaced. I don't think there's a software problem here but since all things related to Og Xbox are completely new to me, I can be wrong. Anyways, the help I want/need is to try to find a way to discover the problem since Og Xbox parts or controllers are really not easy or cheap to find in Brazil... Cheers
