What’s up! New to the group. I have about 20 OEM OG Xbox controllers. I have no working system. I do have an adapter to plug into my PC with a Xbox port. How would I go about testing my controllers? Can I do this on steam? Is there any software available to do this. I have tried researching in other ways but I can’t seem to find a definitive method versus using an actual system

hi all i have a softmodded xbox that is my backup xbox ive bin trying to work out the issue for sum time with no luck hopeing sum one knows what is the prob my xbox will not boot all games sum load but the rast kick me back to dash after i try loading only noiced it on game all apps ive tryed load fine i can tell if a games not going to load as insted of the game pic on the games menu it just shows a green plan image and this go's for loading off the HDD and offical disc and backup disc

Dear All I have always loved my XBOX. I've bought the OSSC and intend on using my composite cable with it on my 75 inch Samsung UHD TV if I can persuade the wife to let me interrupt the soaps she likes to watch I have 4 XBOXs. My main XBOX I modded with X3 and added the LCD and lit coloured buttons to it. Even to this day I think it looks great and stylish. I look forward to chatting with you all. Cheers

Hi - I've recently picked up the orange xbox live beta tester memory card but it didn't come with the matching cap. Does anyone in the community have an orange cap they would sell or trade me? I've attached a pic I found online of what the caps look like. I appreciate your time and help tracking one down.

When I turn on my Xbox, it gets stuck on the Xbox startup screen and never makes it to the dashboard. There is a flashing green light. It will not load games. When I eject the DVD drive via the paperclip hole, it then goes right to the dashboard and the green light stops flashing. It still won't load any games. Did my DVD drive fail?

All of the units work flawlessly EXCEPT the DVD drives in them which is a common problem with the original XBOX, sometimes they have problem ready discs or close or eject the tray. This can be an easy fix, there are tons of helpful tips on the internet to solve this by for example cleaning and lubricating them, replacing the drive belt or calibrating the laser. Equipment Softmodded 1.4 XBOX, clock capacitor removed, EEPROM snagged Hello everyone this my first post! I have gotten my hands on a FRAG 1.4 XBOX, now where this unit differs from any of the traditional FRAG symptoms Is that if you leave the system unplugged over night you are guaranteed to get video and audio on the first startup, Sometimes it successfully boots into the softmod and freezes after 10-120 seconds once you reboot it refuses to go beyond the FRAG loop( i have even successfully booted a original game from the softmod menu froze after a while), on other occasions it hangs during the start up animation and you get awful audio static, reboot the system and you are stuck in the FRAG loop for the day. Anyone ever encountered a unit with these symptoms? I'm thinking this unit might not be fubar, I changed the cooling paste on the GPU and CPU didn't do anything. Just asking around before I go shotgunning and randomly replacing capacitors, any specific ones which tend to go bad?

I have a broken debug kit Xbox that I'm hoping to salvage and get working again and could use some pointers. It starts to boot up but hangs at the X screen during bootup (no Microsoft logo). There is some trace-rot and corrosion present on the board, and I'm hoping it's not bad enough to be causing these issues. The clock capacitor was leaking but it was very minor. High-res photos of the board: https://imgur.com/a/sESsyvi There's also a bodge-job done to the underside of the board, which I'm not sure what it does. The orange D0 wire was added by me. The thermal tape was there when I got it. The hard drive does not make any sound at all, so I hooked the HDD up to a PC and my PC couldn't read it (still no spin-up or reading sounds coming from the drive). I suspect that the drive may be broken. I swapped in a similar model HDD's logic board (first part of model was the same, last part was slightly different) and then the drive spun-up, but was clicking ('click of death' sound), but I'm not sure if this is from the drive being busted or from it being the wrong logic board. I burned 5849_Recovery to a disc, swapped in a different (unlocked) Xbox HDD and tried to boot from the disc and it hung at the same spot in the bootup process. I tried a different DVD drive too just in case. The fact that it's still misbehaving after taking out the supposedly-bad HDD makes me wonder if a BIOS flash went wrong. I have a copy of the debug BIOS, but no 1MB modchips on hand. I only have an Aladdin XT+2 and a DUO X2 Lite, neither of which can handle a 1MB BIOS. So I can get a better modchip and boot from that, but I'm not sure if that's even the problem. I've also tried swapping the power supply with the same one from a different Xbox to no avail. Any tips?

So i tried to upgrade my 1.1 xbox to 128mb. I installed the first chip successfully and xblastOS flashed to TSOP said "Success". Then i attempted to install second chip on bottom side, but xbox started fragging. I fixed up some shorts i found, but it still fragged. Then i measured according to datasheet, that power to RAM is shorted to ground. The shorted pins most likely were: 66 and 65. However it's possible, that i used the chip pinout wrongly and i measured short between VDD and VDDQ, which should be fine. Even after fixing the shorts, it still fragged. After (destructively, but fortunately without ripping any trace) removing the both installed chips, it still does very weird frag. Basically the LED lights up only for short while and then turns off. Xbox's fan runs for a while and then it reboots. This gets repeated indefinitely, but rarely you get normal FRAG and xbox stays on. I measured 2.65V going to the VDDQ pin and the RAM power rail or any of the main power rails are NOT shorted now. ANyone knows if i can fix it? All my other xboxes are either fragging (i have 1.0 i got fragging, but it might be TSOP issue as there are no signs of tracerot, no leaking caps and apparently TSOP might naturally degrade now, so i ordered modchip and will try to install it) or they are 1.6, which suck IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/z74Mzxe Here is reference image how i installed one of the chips, that worked well (the first one). Hello everyone, my name is Vitalij and I am from latvia ! I have two xbox v1.1 and v1.6 in 1.1 dump of something (red-green light), but fully working power supply and 1.6 working, but the mosfet burned out in the power supply. Is it possible to make a 1.1 to 1.6 PSU, can there be a complete manual or something? I found a guide showing how to make from 1.1 to 1.2-1.5, but as I understand it, this does not work for me. So I’ve got an Xbox 1.0 that was opened before me when I got it. It flashes red and green after 3 reboots and I get no video please help!! 3 reboots and no video. I’ve changed a couple caps near the clock cap hoping it would be that but no luck. I removed clock capacitor cleaned the whole board with ipa and tested it and still no luck. Bought an Aladdin off eBay hooked it up and still nothing worked. Could someone have done a bad eeprom flash? I’ve ruled out the power supply already and even with the HDD and dvd drive unplugged it still doesn’t work. As far as I can tell the tsop points are not bridged . What else can I try to fix this?

I tried to upgrade my V1.0 Xbox with 4 Samsung version F RAM chips but it won’t boot. I’ve got an OpenXenium mod chip installed but I’ve tried booting both with and without yet it still flashes. Anyone know what this means/ anyway to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a crystal xbox with a aladin Live chip. i modded it very long time ago now i want to give it to my kid and updated everything then flashed the bios before i know it it wont start up anymore. i have eeprom and the hd is 250gb. I have no old computer to prepare a new hd. I have a other modded xbox with a aladin xt (not plus) but i dont know the what diffrent. I have 4 xboxes 2 without working DVD drives, i bought them when they came out. (Softmodded) Can i prepare a new hd in a other xbox. i was trying to put bios chip from one modchip to another that did not work , dont know why bothe had evo x on them before. Crystal xbox i try to repair is my first xbox so i really want to fix it. i have a backup of all the files on de hdd. Please anybody have option to fix this. i live in the netherlands.

I have a xbox 1.0 here that fragged the day I got it. I thought "oh HDD probably died I'll just install a modchip". Well after installing said modchip I'm still met with 3 power cycles and the red and green lights with no error codes. Ive checked my soldering, checked that D0 is grounded, checked all caps, I cleaned the board after removing the clock cap, inspected traces for any signs of trace rot. Are there any caps that could go that just wouldn't show any sign of swelling or leaking that could cause issues?

Hi All, Just discovered softmodding while on a mission to preserve my back catalogue of original xbox games. I started using unleashX as I only really want the game functionality but wanted a clean xbox themed skin whilst showing some key system details. Figured since this forum had helped me get this far i would share the skin in case anyone wants to use it. Preview is a bit squashed since i made the theme for widescreen. all images are PNG and un-flattened so you can edit anything you want to change. Next step is to install a new HDD once all the pieces arrive. D24B.rar

Today’s pick up. Was willing to spend some money on myself so I picked up a clean, virgin and working halo edition Xbox with extras. If anyone knows anything about those 2 halo copies looking like mirror reflections please let me know. Thought it was odd. Gonna have a cold one now and game out for the rest of the night

So I’m not the most educated in terms of consoles or modding or repair so please bare with me here. I recently purchased a Translucent Halo edition Xbox on offer up to try and capture that good nostalgia hit that anything from that time does for me and got it for a killer price because of the fact that when it is booted on it errors out to either error 07 or 09. I have jumped down this rabbit hole time after time after time since buying this in trying to troubleshoot, isolate and address what the culprit or culprits are but for every solution I seem to find there I then another 20 questions. I have a very good feeling it is a faulty HDD but I’m not sure if it failed from age or possibly previous owner was trying to mod but the consistent factor and trial error I’ve gone through leads me to believe since it’s clicking that is my issue. Can anyone help me finally complete this project and help me make this the most meaningful console I’ve ever owned?

i'm downloading a bunch of the oxm demo disks from archive.org. i remember that there is a certain program that i have to use to make those images ready for the hdd of my xbox but i don't remember what that program is. i'm also downloading a bunch of the oxm disk and i would like to be able to just set the program to ready all of them instead of having to do it one after the other, individually. can anyone tell me how to do this?

Hey guys I have a halo edition Xbox that I just plugged in again after a while and after about five minutes of being on it was resetting and kept resetting about every 20 seconds. I thought I removed the clock capacitor a few years ago to stop stuff like this from happening. did I miss it maybe and took out another capacitor or is there something else That could be causing this problem. Note: power button and eject button work fine. System is also soft modded

Decided I would tear down my dev kit because there was a rattling noise inside of it and I wanted to see its guts. The rattling turned out to be the GPU fan, and I decided I should film its guts for everyone to see. Now if you don't have one, or don't want to open the one you've got, you can see inside, too! Pictures will come if I ever get a decent camera. If anyone has a Raptor card I can pair with it, please send me a PM. I don't actually know anything about developing games for the xbox, but I'd like to have a full kit in case I ever do start developing. I also might be willing to sell this to someone that wants to use it for its intended purpose. It's pretty worthless as a collectors item because it has no code on it, has a prominent cosmetic defect, and has been opened.

Hi all got several Sega games that I just can't get to load from my HDD. most notably Jest Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Gunvalkyrie. I know they all have an issues with the v.1.6 but I`m using a tsop V.1.4 with an up to date UnleashX as main dashboard. for each game I have tried different sources of ISO's and Redumps but all versions act the same way. the game Freezes on Sega logo (Jest Set) or when loading first level (Gunvalkyrie, Panzer) tried to load them trough different dashboards (XBMC4GAMERS, emustation etc) to no avail. been reading all relevant discussions and couldn't find another example of this problem, nor a solution, so it must be something with my console's configuration. any ideas? some pics of my board and settings https://photos.app.goo.gl/iEzaFfu6n2dcFvgp8 any help will be appreciated, been struggling with this for quite some time now. So I got a Halo Edition Xbox off of ebay to find that it only stays on for 20 minutes before shutting off, the power button does not function, naturally I thought of corrosion on the traces. Upon examining the underside of the board I found no visible corrosion, my question is, which traces do I need to jump in order to fix it? I'm a bit stumped, any help would be much appreciated.
