  3. So I've had a modded Xbox original for a few years now, and I just got around to using it again. Thanks to this forum it's running much stronger. Upgraded to the Startech SATA adapter, changed to an 80wire IDE cable (not pictured) and then moved over to a TSOP flash instead of a softmod.
  4. Hi everyone, I just introduced myself in the "new members" section. And now I have a bunch of questions covering different topics. I have a softmodded XBOX that I modded like ten years ago. I do not remember what softmod, what exploit, did I tsop-flash...? My setup is as follows: XBOX 1.2-1.5, 2.5"Sata-hdd, laptop-dvd-drive, VGA-connector on the back with a DIP-switch to choose vga-video-mode (so obviously i did a tsop-flash?), and usb-connectors on port 3 and 4. Everything is running again after some major issues. The box is booting to xbmc 3.0 and I can watch movies and play games from HDD (I can not find my game-dvds). But since I can not remember what softmod is installed, or what bios is flashed I want to start over. I only want to keep my games from the HDD. My plans are as follows: backup games via FTP, backup eeprom, install a new softmod, NULL the hdd-code, ( I may want to upgrade the 160GB hdd at some point), rebuild the HDD from scratch, install the latest XBMC is this the best order? what are the best methods for doing so? what software do I need (Tool-DVDs ?)
  5. Looking for a cheap disc drive for my console. Not really picky about the type of drive since I upload most games over FTP anyway, but my current drive has a dead laser and it might be handy to have one that works.
  6. Well, this question goes to those of you who have done this before. I recently got a TSOP'ed v1.2 xbox with ind bios 5004, 128 mb ram, 1ghz and 160 gb hdd. I also have a chipped v1.6 xbox with 2TB hdd (segate barracuda 7200 rpm) - and i made a clone of this 2TB to put into my TSOP box. I checked that the 2TB cloned hdd (seagate barracuda 5400 rpm) worked fine in my chipped xbox. And it did. Then i took the TSOP xbox, installed a 80 ribbon cable with a startech ide2sat2 adapter (jumper pins to master) and connected my new cloned hdd. [EDIT:] I start it and it a black screen with the letters "ind bios" appear.. i hear the hdd spin up twice... and nothing happens.. then i press eject button twice and the white ind bios splash screen appears, from here it takes some 10-20 seconds until dashboard appears. [/EDIT] On my chipped xbox it takes 10 seconds. What can i do to speed up the boot process ? RUn EVtools on indbios ?
  7. hey everyone, i am just wondering which is better tsop or modchip? pros and cons to both or is it up to personal preference? i like modchips as it gives me a chance to use my soldering iron which i dont get to do much, but am just wondering what others think
  8. Hey everyone! So I have a 1.1 xbox and I know that some of the motherboards are different and you may need to soughter different points as a result of that. Can anyone send me details on how the different boards look and what are the proper points to soughter? Help would be appreciated!
  9. I was bored this evening so I pulled out an Xbox and TSOP'd it with iND-BIOS and installed a new old-stock 500GB IDE Maxtor hard drive. The clock capacitor has been removed, the DVD drive (Samsung) has a new drive belt installed and the case has been cleaned and polished-up, looks great. Currently transferring over XBMC4Gamers as the primary dash and all emulators are outfitted with the ResurrectionXtras video and box art/screen shot packs-- speaking of emulators, this includes the latest build of EWJ's curated Surreal64 romset, and almost every game runs great. The controller is in great condition as well, disassembled and shell cleaned. Asking $90+shipping if anyone is interested. Thanks!
  10. Hi Guys. I just wanted to share that I used Bare Contuctive Electric Paint for the first time today to TSOP flash one of my Xboxs and it was the easiest TSOP flash I have ever done. I used a toothpick to apply the paint. The paint is kind of thick and it was really easy to apply. I bought it at Amazon. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KBXT6JW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. I have a version 1.4 console with a modchip installed due to a bad TSOP flash. I cannot seem to find the location of the A15 point to attempt the repair process. Can anyone point me to an image? Thanks.
  12. Hi, all Some of you might know I have already had a Xbox (v1.1) with TSOP flashed (M8+ only) recently For a v1.1 Xbox, its TSOP (1MB) with only 256k M8+ is a bit wasted. Meanwhile, i read about Xblast OS which Forlorn Penguin suggested me before to use it to flash BIOS to TSOP. And Now I realized that Xblast OS is not just a bios flash program, but with multiple useful tools. and more importantly to me, it can be flashed/installed to Modchip (including TSOP) I read that its can be flashed to onboard TSOP, as Bennydiamond said in AG forum https://assemblergames.com/threads/release-xblast-os-v0-50.65434/ Archived page access: https://assembler-games.com/threads/release-xblast-os-v0-50.65434/ However, there is no specific instruction and video that I can search from google to specify this. So I hope someone here, based on your best knowledge, could share and confirm whether this is really workable for 1MB TSOP Here comes my plan and assumption, can anyone help me to verify? 1. install/upload Xblast in drive per its instruction in its zip file 2. run xblast.xbe, enter its program/OS 3. Go to flash menu, select Bank2 (xblast OS), (Here, I am not sure if it will show 3 Banks as xblast illustrated, or 4 banks as my current TSOP has) 4. select crcwell.bin, then flash --> reboot 5. Xbox enter xblast os, go to flash menu, select bank0 (512k), choose X2.5032.bin, flash --> reboot 6. Xbox enter xblast os, go to flash menu, select bank1 (256k), choose M8+.bin , flash --> reboot Will there be any issue for the procedures above? Your help would be much appreciated ! Peter
  13. Hi, All Xbox Mod Experts Currently the SpiderChip on my Xbox v1.1 doesn't work very stable (likely because of its solderless type). Hence, I am planning to TSOP with X2 5035. However, my Xbox's DVD is faulty and unable to read any CD/DVD (including original DVD). So I think I have to flash TSOP from HDD. All the tutorial I managed to find is to use HeXEn DVD. However, I noticed that in HeXEn TSOP tutorial, if the Xbox has WinBond TSOP, it will load and flash via Gentoox, For non-WinBond, it will flash through normal EvoxDashboard. Thus, for my Xbox (v1.1) with faulty DVDROM, instead of HeXEn DVD, can I flash the TSOP directly through either Evox Dashboard or Gentoox? and if it is possible, which method would be more safe and successful ? Thanks in advance Peter
  14. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in repair, but since it happened during a TSOP mod I though I'd try here first. Picked up a 1.4 version at a Salvation Army today, green model worked great but filthy inside. Cleaned it up, removed clock capacitor and did the two TSOP points. Reassembled and before I even load into Hexen my video signal has lines going across the screen. After messing around I find that the problem is only with component output (hd output) and standard def av works fine. Thing is, component worked fine before I disassembled so I'm convinced the problem must have been caused by something I did - but all I did was pull the clock cap and do the 2 tsop points... Tried another component cable.. same result. Tried another tv, got a glitched looking display or 'mode not supported'. I'm convinced it's now outputting some garbled attempt at an hd signal that neither of my tvs can process correctly. Have 2 other xboxes and both display hd perfect with the same cables and tvs. I guess I can just sell it with some standard cables but losing the hd kinda kills the awesomeness so I'd really like to fix this if possible. This is like the second weird obscure xbox mystery for me in like a week, sheesh:)
  15. Hi Everyone, As the title says, how can I set xbmc4gamers as my dashboard on a TSOP xbox. current dash is unleashx. Thanks,
  16. I have a 1.0 version motherboard. I just did a tsop mod to it.. Actually I had another 1.0 motherboard that I bricked by flashing a bios from the xbox autoinstaller disk it was the 1mb x3 bios that bricked the board and I do not want to make that same mistake again any one got any bios recommendations. At the moment I have the evo from hexon 2018 disk f and g
  17. I have completely taken apart a 1.0 system and removed the clock capacitor, cleaned the CPU, GPU and both heat sinks and reinstalled them with good quality thermal paste. I intend on TSOPing this system. I know it has to be soft modded first. I’d like to solder the two points on the board to unlock write capability of the EEPROM while the system is apart. Is it okay to do this , then put the system back together, do the Softmod and finally the TSOP flash? Or do I have to put the system back together and do the Softmod before I solder the points on the board? Thanks for your help.
  18. I have been working on my first moded xbox i Tsops flashed ind bios on it and all went well next i was working on a HDD Chimp would lock up every time the new drive was plunged in so i went to format it useing HEXEN 2017 it did finish the format when i boot this drive i get to a Black screen no errors and i can reboot hexen tried it 2 times last night any ideals of what i can do info on this hdd its on the list for 1.6 with 80 cables i figured it would work on a 1.0 with tsop and 80 cables its SATA have a converter with compactors and a jumper and padding on back im at a Total loss at this point
  19. This is my frist time working with a Tsop im looking for advice ik i got 1..0 1.1 versions does this wire need to be a single copper or can it be threaded also hexen i can find but a bios checker i can not fine any where
  20. I cloned the stock drive on my softmodded Xbox to a 500gb drive that was in my dead TSOP xbox using Chimp and locked it. The drive boots up just fine. I then use HeXEn disc to install Krayzie One Click softmod, and that was successful. I reboot into HeXEn, and I can see the F and G, but F looks empty in the file explorer (it says F has 35mb free, when it should be about 20GB free), and G says there is 0 space free. G doesn't even show up in UnleashX even though F and G are enabled. How can I get the contents of F and G to show up? I really dont want to have to reformat F and G/re-transfer everything if I can avoid it.
  21. I had a successfully flashed 1.0 mobo with an X2 BIOS. I got a little curious and flashed the X3 3294 BIOS and now my console wont turn on. Light turns green, fans spin and then immediately turn off. Honestly, I kinda expected it. But what are my recovery options? I know I can install a modchip on top of it, but I don't want to fork out an arm and a leg for a good one. Theres some cheap ones on ebay right now for about $5 and I'm curious if I buy one, install it and go to reflash, how do I get it to flash the mobo TSOP and not the modchip? Thanks for reading.
  22. Only recently ive been looking at this manufacturing proces part where they get the kernel on the motherboard. "our" Blake Clements @OGXbox Admin linked me at facebook to the following url: http://www.ogxbox.com/archive/xboxsecurity.html look at the Modchip part. It states that But I do not know if this is said based on the observation mentioned or based on internal Microsoft or flextronics manufacturing personal. Blake also said that: So, the LPC port was used for programming? A bed of nails (pogo pins) should and probably be used to connect the write enable pins on the motherboard to enable the flash writing of the then onboard tsop. I do not know for sure if this is posible but I rather for now asume it was. because we cant flash tsop today whne the xbox has been booted from LPC (modchip boots can only flash modchip, not the tsop, even of you remove the modchip prior to flashing) Connecting to lpc and connecting the write enable lines using pogopins could be done, altho I dont know how they would write to flash from LPC. the MCPX doesnt allow flash write in a LPC boot right? maybe a unkown mode? anyway, pure onboard tsop writing by connecting to the tsop directly would be a pain, but posible with fine pitched pins. not sure if the board would allow that with the mcpx on the same wires. All logic I can come up with is that MS would send their kernel to the tsop manufactorer and let them preprogram all tsops before soldering. then at the factory MS could use a bed of pogopins and a "recovery disk" to install a newer kernel if they wanted as long as the xbox booted from tsop. any other sources or interviews that claim or verify either side are welcome. movies and pictures of this proces too. most details I know came or will be added to: http://xboxdevwiki.net/Manufacturing_Process
  23. Ok so I have TSOPd 4 xboxs before but ive done it to them all with bigger HDDs installed. Can i use a F and G .67 bios on a stock HDD or will it cause issues. I just wanna pre flash it for a bigger hdd later.
  24. Hello everyone, I just acquired a XBox with 128Mb and 1.4GHz (thanks to N64Freak in passing for his great work and availability). I am very satisfied but being used to NDure and NKPatcher to play the game in ISO format, Having a first XBox (softmod) with 2Tb and all games / homebrews in XISO format (faster FTP transfer, take less space on the hard drive ...), I will obviously want the same thing on this new console. Apparently, the bios is "x2_4983.67.bin" but I do not have a file "x2config" on C. According to your answers, I have to flash my bios with the "ind-bios 5003.67" and then put the file configuration "ind-bios.cfg" at the root of C like this: 480P=1 ; Default=0 USEUSEALLMEMORY=1 ;Use 128mb of Ram if Available Default=0 IGRLOADSDASH=1 ;Load Dashboard on IGR Default=0 IGRMODE=1 ;IGR Mode 0=off 1=compatible 2=quick Default=2 DEFAULTXBE=\Device\CDrom0\default.xbe DASH1=\Device\CdRom0\default.xbe DASH2=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\Apps\Patcher\Patcher.xbe DASH3=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\dashboard\default.xbe That's OK? Then where to find the patch? I saw in "CDROM modchip.rar" a folder "Kernel Patcher", it is this file? Where should I create it with "make_with_listing.bat"? Thank you in advance for your answers.
  25. use an eprom (27C2001/27C020 or bigger) or flashrom (29F020 or bigger) connect pins 22, 24 and 31 of the eprom to GND (pin 16 of the eprom). you might have to connect 31 to 5V (pin 32) if you are using a flashrom. Reset is A18 on this diagram. FOR XBOX v1.0/v1.1 The two unused points are only two additional Adress-Lines for the Chip (with which you can access everything beyong 256 kByte) ... so they are NOT needed. FOR XBOX v1.2/v1.3 (Thanks to D-BlooD who posted this diagram on forums.xbox-scene.com) FOR XBOX v1.4/v1.5 (Thanks to pcmerc who posted this diagram on forums.maxconsole.com) WE is the location you jump on the bottom of the board along with the other point on top that is standard on all motherboards. These are the write enable for reflashing the TSOP. Pad 33 is also known as link to 32 in previous pinouts.
