About Me

  1. Hi. I have been stuck on this for a few days now. I have managed to softmod my 1.6 (broken IDE slowed me down but I finally got the HDD switch out to work). Now I'm trying to find out how to download Emulators and ROMs. I'm networked with my xbox on my old ThinkPad running WinXP. I can't find a FileZilla that works with WinXP. I found Stella for Atari 2600 but I can't figure out how to get it to unzip or not unzip and then transfer to the xbox. I've also downloaded River Raid ROM. I can see the folders... then I go to my Unleashed screen on Xbox and I see the files ONLY in FILE EXPLORER. I find the file for Stella and River Raid but then I push A and nothing happens. It just sits there. I'm frustrated. All the videos and tutorials SKIP the download and zip or unzip and just have the right file ready to transfer. Do I need an FTP? Or can I just use network connection? Do I use WinRAR to unzip both the Emu file and the ROM? Grrr. Any assistance is appreciated. Gator
  2. I just removed an Open Xenium modchip I installed a few years ago since I could never get it to work, removed the HDD I was trying to use, and put back in my original HDD that has UnleashX softmod on it so I can just play some games again. Problem is all my games and emulators just vanished. I don't think I am using the wrong HDD because I see my game save files that I remember. How could that stuff just vanish though? I feel like it might still be there but maybe I need to do something else? I boot into Unleash X fine and can navigate around so it seems like everything is working. This HDD was removed before I installed the modchip, the two have never been in contact with one another. Am I screwed? It's nothing I can't get back but it is work.
  3. So i'm new but not new to this and just got back into it after a very long time away and have been skimming through here and google for help. I recently modded my xbox, installed cerbios and I am using xbmx4gamers dash. I installed the fan art installer and it works for the xbox games but when i go over to the emulators it doesnt show any art work. Is there a specific emulator for these art works to pair with the fan art installer? The only emulators I have installed so far is nestopiax, pcsxbox and snes9box. I have placed those on the E drive with the fan art installer. The games play I just don't have the fan art or cover art for the emulator like I do for the xbox games if I enable fan art. When I disable the fan art it just gives me the generic icons.
  4. I'm writing this up to share the experiences I have while going down this rabbit hole. I spoke with @KaosEngineerto get a better footing, and turns out there is far less then I thought there was on this topic, so I want to help others out who may find themselves in this boat. To clarify, the goal is to have original feel and operability of the original consoles on a modded XBOX's emulator. If I want to play NES Mario Bro's, it would feel and work better with an NES controller, same with Mario Kart for SNES, and Sonic on SEGA. But hell, most folks, especially us OGXBOX diehards, have no real issue with using a Duke to smash up blocks or grab coins, so I would consider this venture applicable to purists and those looking to satisfy house guests who want original feel of retro consoles. The first and best option looks to be the RetroPad Adapter by Bruno. If you have the money to grab this item, it should be worth it to save from making one from scratch. I opted not to go this route because of the cost, which is over $70 after it's shipped. I thought that was too much for hooking up a single controller, but others may see the value or be able to source and construct them locally for less. http://www.brunofreitas.com/node/41 http://shop.brunofreitas.com/ This link will take you to the git files for self constructing. Which, after looking to source al the parts, realized this too, was not a route for me. But for some, this is a great resource. https://github.com/bootsector/usb-retropad-adapter Why can't you just take an old XBOX controller plug and splice it to the retro controller? Well, tbh I don't know the technical stuff 100% but essentially the retro controllers are simple switches, where as the XBOX controllers have more circuitry in them and are controlled much like a USB keyboard. So a simple "patch" cable from retro to XBOX won't work, I've been told. Here's a resource on making an NES controller to USB using a USB keybard circuit. I've been told this won't work on the XBOX as it's USB meant for PC, same story with the second link. https://www.instructables.com/Make-a-USB-NES-Controller/ https://www.ebay.com/itm/NES-SNES-SFC-Controller-Adapter-Converter-to-USB-for-PC-Mac-PS3-Mayflash-New/164273318506?epid=2255282999&hash=item263f73ea6a:g:xyAAAOSw6oBXEj6k Now this link looked so promising, but unfortunately I can't actually find the article. The links on the site deadend or are misdirected. If someone can find the rest of this article (or a way to contact Phillip Torrone), it could save me and anyone else in my boat, some serious leg work!! https://makezine.com/2006/04/11/how-to-nes-controller-for/ If you're still reading, it means you aren't liking, or are still seeking alternatives to, the retropad adapter. I hope to be able to help and, if anything, my mistakes will help you to avoid them. My current plan of attack is to simply bash an old XBOX controller into a cheap NES controller. Both of which can be found for less the $20 from local game stores, craigslist, or ebay to name a few sources. This first post is to test the waters, see if anyone else has valuable info on the subject. But as life permits, I will be documenting my struggles as I get into the soldering and bashing with pics and details.
  5. Recently I've installed an emulator that couldn't be placed in F: partition (not enough space), so I placed it in E: partition (I know, unproper, it should be for savegames). It runs ok, but only from File Explorer. How can I edit it so it appears on the emulators list (basically how to create a link) ? Of course, can this be done with other games and apps? Will it work both on Evox dash and others (UnleashX, Avalaunch and XBMC) in the same way ?
  6. I am running both from the ‘app’, and the script option and I select yes, then no to preview videos, and no to skip artwork that already exists and then it just starts on emulators and 36% pleas halp me internet!!!
  7. New to the xbox mod scene coming from the xbox 360 rgh scene Just finished up a cerbios with an Aladdin chip install / xbmc4 I am having an issue with any emulator from BU or AP They all unzip and transfer without errors. Ninja and Hyper both freeze after the splash screen. The only one that actually works is CO lite. OG title run fine Suggestions please on how to get past the freeze. I do have both install packs installed on Ninja
  8. Looking for _Resources for the following emulators, if anyone is able to offer up any boxart or images? MameOx WinSTonX And not so much (see my previous post): Kawa-X CPX3 Anyone who has any old boxart for these squirreled away from the past would be grateful if you could share.
  9. I upgraded my hard drive recently and still had some of the "old" emulators on there. I have Kawa-X, plus a Kawa-X Next, and a CPS3 emulator called CPX3 ... none of these old emulators seem to have any artwork under xbmc4gamers which irritates me. I put the latest FinalBurn Legends and romset on my hd recently, and noticed I also have an older CoinOps on there .. Also installed MameOx latest version along with a full set and loads of CHD's (although alot of the CHD games don't seem to work). My question is, are these old emulators even relevant ? Has FinalBurn Legends replaced all the games that were in Kawa-X and CPX3 ?
  10. Sorry for opening another topic so soon, with the other one un-replied, I just needed to know how to properly manage the upload of roms and emulators on a hard-modded Xbox with Slayers 2.7 as default dashboard. Basically, I got a lot of roms and some good new emulators (alongside the ones which were already installed with the dashboard). Where do I put each roms (they're a lot of stuff)? Do I need to make folders like "Nintendo 64", "Nes", etc.. asking you this because there's a "Roms" folder in "F:" drive but many of the files can have the same name (as they're usually in .zip format). Do I have to place the roms in specific folder of the emulator or there's a specific setting to follow ? Should emulators be uploaded in "Emulators" or "Games" folders ? thanks
  11. I installed Emustation on F drive and have set up most of my roms and box art. I also installed Ninja Massive in my F drive under Emus. How can I run Ninja Massive from Emustation? Do I have to exit the Emustation dash and then run it?
  12. Hello Friends I'm configuring Ninja Ultimate and I wondered how I can update / add emulators to it. For example the PCSXbox reloaded uses hardware acceleration so I wanted to change use it instead. For example, I can see AtariXL.xbe and defaultAXL.xbe. I presume the latter is a shortcut to the former which is AtariXLbox modded for Coinops? OR, is this calling the XBE under my F:\Emulators folder I have been searching for days to try to find info and everything points to the PC versions these days. Thanks in advance
  13. Is there any documentation on how to set up emaulators in XBMC4Gamers? I have XBOX games showing nicely (although they are on F; and the main loader says they are on E:, it works, so I'm gonna leave it) but I cannot for the life of me figure out how emulators are meant to work. I have 2 installed under F:\Emulators and XBMC does pick them up, but when I select one of them it just launches the emulator rather than showing a list of games to choose form like others have shown in videos. How do you set that functionality up?
  14. Hello. Having a problem with my emulators freezing in the menu section. Tyed it on a few different emulators with different roms and it just freezes and nothing works have to manually restart the xbox. Any ideas?
  15. Good morning. Is there any way to play this game? If yes, could you tell me all the steps to be taken to play with the emulators? Thank you
  16. Hi, Is there a post or a PDF that shows all the file formats for the emulators that go on the OG Xbox? I found some roms for the Snes but when I try to launch them in the snes emulator it does not see them, so I just want to make sure I have the right file format first.
  17. All, I've got Xbox with the Rocky soft mod. It is remod of an old Xbox that has all the emulators on the G drive. What is the best way for me to get emulators? I have found them online and can FTP into the Xbox but where do I add them? Should I be downloading an emulator specific software to the Xbox? Maybe there is a walkthrough somewhere that I am missing? Thanks!
  18. I`m trying to add a ZX81 emulator to emustation (xzx81b2) added zx81 folder to emulator and roms. added emulator and roms Emustation scans them makes a playlist ect.. but doesnt appear on the carousel?? Is there any way to add your own systems to emustation?
  19. Hi, I tried Super Mario World with my 1 Ghz + 128mb ram with Zsnexbox 3.7. Its get sloppy with 37/60 FPs all the time. But with my Stock CPU , 64 mb ram xbox I get max 60/60. Is Zsnexbox not working good with upgraded ram and cpu?
  20. For those of you like myself who were looking for a way to have multiple instances of a multisystem emulator (instead of having seperate rom folders for each system within one emulator) without overwriting configs/saves, Any hex editor should work, I used this one http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm#download Make a copy of the desired emulator folder on your pc. In this example I used Xboyadvance_v24b07 Rename the folder to something more specific: I chose Xboyadvance_GB Open the default .xbe in the Xboyadvance_GB folder in your hex editor Select search > replace - Make sure you've clicked the boxes labelled "text string" under the "find" and "replace with" sections, and uncheck the "case sensitive" option at the bottom. In the "find" field enter xboyadvance In the "replace with" field enter xboyadvanca (replace with whatever name you like, but it must be the same number of characters as xboyadvance - 11 characters) Save the .xbe and ftp the folder to your xbox, you'll have to setup the default directories and configure everything, but once you're done it should be all set. You can follow the same method, and replace the xboyadvance with something different the second time, I just used xboyadvanca, and xboyadvancb, on mine., and the default that came with the emu for the third, and I now have 3 independent versions with their own configs, previews, saves etc. I posted this tutorial hoping it would help some other picky people like myself, you can use it for different emulators like Neogenesis or Meka-X, but the search strings would change according to the name of the emulator of course. I'm also attaching two edited Xboyadvance ..XBE's. You should be able to just plop these into copies of the emu folder and ftp it to your xbox, though you'll still have to configure the emu of course. Edited XBE's.rar
  21. I have downloaded an emulator or two from XBMC4gamers downloader. Where do you get the skins and artwork?
  22. Alright Now my xbox is softmodded with unleashX. what emulators work best with the xbox?
  23. I successfully set up XBMC Emustation and now I'm wondering which emulators are the best for each system- any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks
  24. Does anyone have a website where I can download the most recent emulators off of? Help would be appreciated!
  25. Hi, First time modder here having some issues with the setup after upgrading the hdd. I have a modchipped v1.6 OG XboX and set it up with a 160 GB IDE hdd using the Hexxen 2018 disc. I also switched to a 80-pin IDE cable. The install went well, and I have uploaded games via ftp and can play them from the hdd. I then created a Emulator folder on E:\ and put a N64 emulator there (Surreal64CE B6.0), and the roms in the Roms folder, but the Emulators-'tab' is not showing when starting the XboX. I installed XBMC from the Hexxen 2018 disc, but there is nothing showing under the System\Emulators tab in XBMC. Also the display in XBMC is too large for the tv-screen, and changing the options (Normal/Widescreen/Letterbox) does nothing. The bullet options for 460, 720 and so on in XBMC display settings are greyed out, and I cannot use them. This is also true for the display settings in the XboX Admin/Settings in the dash which shows up when I start the XboX, but I got a correct display after disabling Pal-60. Last, I am not able to set a static IP address when switching from DHCP to static. I can input the new IP, but when I click OK, it still says IP: 0.0.0.0. The display and ftp issues are not serious per se, but I would like it all to be in working order, and not being able to play the emulators is a bummer. I have bought a 2TB hdd, and am currently waiting for a Startech IDE to Sata adapter to arrive, and was hoping to have it all working when upgrading to the Sata disk. My option now is to try the whole procedure again and see, but don't know if it will make any difference... Can anyone please help point me in the right direction to get it all working as I would like? -Thank you.
