Cannot get CoD: Finest Hour to load

I switched over to the Rocky5 Xbox Softmodding Tool last year, and haven't had issues until now. I cannot get Call of Duty: Finest Hour to run. I tried my HDD Ready archive via FTP, then I tried the original game disc, and lastly I tried copying said disc to the HDD. I also deleted the UData/TData folder 4156002A. The game just freezes on the softmod loading screen for it. This is a v1.6 console.

This is an unusual problem - have you tried launching the HDD installed game direct from its default.xbe using the file manager?

I tried a HDD download of the game in question (probably from the same place). No indication of region provided.

I created a XISO (C Xbox Tool) and burned it to disc with ImgBurn and it plays from disc or installed using DVD2Xbox on both a chipped v1.6 and a softmodded v1.6.

UnleashX dash installed from AID in the first case and a similar UnleashX main dash SID/AID softmod in the second case. Both consoles are PAL region changed to NTSC with Enigmah.

No problems with either.

The fact you used the original disc too and that had the same problem makes this even more perplexing. My first thought was ACL patching was necessary but that can't be the trouble. The game should play without that from the original disc or burned disc.

Apart from you've done, deleting the save files, and  SS_Dave suggested I can not think of anything else to add except to try deleting the CACHE file contents and anything on X, Y and Z. Its possible COD: FH is trying to write to one of those on loading and maybe can't for some reason. Reboot after clearing them out and try again.

Bumping this because with Insignia Live online I really wanted to use this game.  I truly wished I never used the Rocky5 mod, it's caused me nothing but trouble.  I cannot get this game to start.  Not with multiple ISO or zip downloads, the original disc, you name it.  I've cleared the cache, deleted the game, deleted saves, you name it.  As soon as you go to load it, it freezes.  At this point I presume it has to be a setting somewhere, I don't know?  Nor how to ask anyone from the Rocky5 team.

Don't use an HDD Ready version.  No telling what content has been removed and the patches that have been applied to the default.xbe file that may prevent XBL/Insignia working with it.

Convert a Redump-style disc image to a 'dd'-style XISO with Team Resurgent's Repackinator app

892195097_Repackinator-CallofDuty-FinestHour(GLO).PNG.2bf6ff37899eef2879f8f453895e09f2.PNG

or extract the game's full file set with XDVDMulleter Beta 10.2 or extract-iso.  I have not processed the Redump dot iso file yet to create this file set to try playing the game using this method. (More testing to be done and report my findings.)

I used Repackinator v1.1.0 to create the mountable XISO files, booting the unofficially patched iND-BiOS 5003 release and the CDROM modchip BIOS patcher to add the hooked into the Xbox kernel to mount the disc image files when the attacher app, default.xbe file saved with the dot iso files, thumbnail image, default.tbn in the Call Of Duty - Finest Hour (GLO) subfolder of the F:\Games directory.

NOTE: Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool already adds the kernel hooks to mount XISO
disc images with the attacher app created by Repackinator.  There is no need to
hardmod your console to boot a modified Xbox BIOS from a modchip and install then
run the CDROM Modchip kernel patcher/dashboard chain loader application to do so.

More testing still to be done.

The game starts up with Team Resurgent's Repackinator-generated XISO images and attacher / disk mounting application.

I have yet to try playing on Insignia - still waiting on my code to create a gamertag. :(

Edit: Damn, I see that I missed receipt of my invite code 2 days ago.  Well, now I need to create my gamertag and try playing it on XBL/Insignia.

I'm off to create my Insignia GamerTag. :)

I created my New XBL/Insignia Account from inside the game which seems to call the stock dashboard.  I don't know if it has to be installed or if the game includes enough code to go through the new account creation process.  I do have the 5960 Xbox Live-enabled dashboard installed on my Xbox's C drive.

I did not find anyone else currently playing so the Xbox Live Quick Match and OptiMatch options found no sessions to join.  I was able to use the Create Match option to start a session; however, I was the only one playing the game.  Only time I'll win this game! :)

I appreciate the response, but this is NOT an XBL/Insignia issue.  I cannot get the game to run period.  Not with multiple images or a retail disc.  It's caused by Rocky5 mod, and there seems to be zero support from them.

It is not a softmod problem   I'm able to play the game on my Rocky5 Xbox Softmodded Tool modded v1.6 Xbox without any problem.

Okay, well I don't know how else to diagnose my issue?  Like I said, if there was a log or something, that would be a start.  The game just crashing on load tells me nothing.  Short of reformatting the HDD, I don't know what to do next.

There are a couple of items to do / check in the stock MS dashboard's settings:

1. Change the language to a different one than currently set then change it back to the one you want to use.

2. Check the Parental Control setting to make sure the game's rating is not higher than the level it is set to.

Tried those, no help.  I also deleted the game, and ripped it another time from disc without change.  I go to run it, and freezes on the same screen again.

I am actually using the game from the now defunct and hated by some HDD ready set on one of my consoles, Game runs fine for me, have played in the last few days on Insignia.

If it were me at this point I would TSOP flash the motherboard on a non 1.6 console or modchip a 1.6, remove the softmod and try again (though as Kaos said this is probably not a softmod issue) Then if it still won't load, try a brand new hdd. Maybe you have bad sectors on your hdd or similar and that is causing this?

I don't have the capacity to flash anything.  Bad sectors would not cause this, as I've wiped the game several times, and other titles work fine.  It ran fine for years, prior to the Rocky5 mod.

Ok, delete all of the files and folders in the X, Y and Z drives.

They've been empty, I cleared the Cache days ago.
