About Me

  1. Hi I wanted to use the xeniumprogrammer on one of my chips. It runs fine until the Verify part of the flash memory, I have looked for shorts and nothing out of the orinary. Everything seems fine.
  2. i, like many others, started having problems with my xbox after replacing the thermal paste. graphics glitching, freezing, frag'ing, and sometimes it would just go into a coma on me. it appears that the problem is that some of the solvent for cleaning the thermal paste gets underneath the gpu chip and causes a short. 1st off, i do not recommend replacing the thermal paste on these consoles but if u already have and are now having problems then here is how to fix it. get a bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol with a squirt top on it(i suggest a quart bottle), hold the motherboard on it's side, and squirt the alcohol all over it. be certain that plenty is going under the gpu. next, take a hair dryer and dry the board very well. be careful not to get it too hot. a good rule of thumb is that if any part of the board is uncomfortable to lay your hand on and keep it there, then it is too hot and should be allowed to cool. next, sit the board in the xbox, hook up the psu, connect a tv and power on the system a few times to be certain that it appears to be working before full reassembly. BE CERTAIN TO REAPPLY THERMAL PASTE AND HEATSINKS BEFORE POWERING ON! i'm not certain that it will overheat the chips without the heatsinks for a quick test but it isn't worth the risk. this fixed my xbox that i was concerned i had forever killed.
  3. So I have finally gotten a grasp of everything but the N64 emulator. I downloaded EWJ ROM pack, copied over the surreal64 folder into the emulators/n64 folder, copied some ROMs over in the roms/n64 folder. It scans and actually shows my files scanned but always comes up with a script error saying it cannot make a list. What am I doing wrong exactly? I've read how frustrated rocky5 is over people asking about this same issue but I followed his instructions as he laid them out on a Reddit thread. I'm stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. has anyone had the same issues I have? the DVD drive under standard XBMC and other apps fails to detect DVDs (always shows as empty), this is hinted in Titan's readme on its github, but it's a software problem -- it should be fixable, for example XBMC4Gamers has it fixed, but it can't play media in any way! is there any way we can obtain the same version of the source code that XBMC4Gamers uses and have it in a normal XBMC4Xbox version that can play multimedia? i'm one of the few weirdos that still uses his Xbox to watch movies and shows, cuz it gives an amazingly crisp, bright and clear image over RGB! so this DVD problem is a major bummer that I'd LOVE someone could have a fix for!
  5. Hello everyone, I wanted to FTP music over to my F partition on my softmodded xbox but it does not FTP over and when I try to acces the F partition on my xbox it says Path not found or invallid. The E Partition works fine. Does someone know whats going on?
  6. Hey. Today I found the time to do the mod. However, I didn't used a AladdinXT clone, I used an Xenochip lite modchips I have laying around. Both have the same LC4032v, connect them in the same way to the pads so what can go wrong right? So the problem I have is that the display did not display anything. It lights up and I have fancy black blocks on it but, thats it. X4G is setup for it right (contrast to 20%) and I know that the display works (testet with an SmartXX). Some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/GHOxLqr Pinout, solder points checked as shown below : RS -> L1 -> Pin 30 (B9) E -> D0 -> Pin 31 (B10) (And also to Pin 29 (B8). Checked that on a non modded chip and it's the same.) Vo -> HD -> Pin 9 (A10) RW -> Ground. D7 -> SST Pad 10 -> Pin 43 (A3) D6 -> SST Pad 11 -> Pin 42 (A2) D5 -> SST Pad 13 -> Pin 41 (A1) D4 -> BT -> Pin 26 (B7) VSS & Backlight- -> Pin 27 (Ground) VCC & Backlight+ -> NONE, just the pin from the LPC header. Note: Just 1 huge ground on the Xenochip Lite. So any help would be welcome.
  7. I had originally installed Thief Deadly Shadows from a ROM but it failed to launch. I then ripped it from my disc to SSD and it worked okay when I tested the install. I went to play tonight from the copy ripped to SDD and again, no launch. I am just getting black screen having tried to launch from XBMC4Gamers dash and when using the default.xbe in File Manager. What is stranger still is when I try to play straight from the disc I get the same result. The disc is in perfect condition and everything else is working just fine. Any ideas?
  8. https://imgur.com/a/OJsz0Uw please click that link so that u can see a video of what i'm talking about. you'll notice that there are vertical static(static as in fuzzy static on a tv not, static as in "unchanging") lines on the screen when there is a dark scene. the video doesn't show it too well but they are even easier to see in person. that is the opening sequence of xmen legends. i have this problem on 2 of my stock xbox v1.0's and on my modded v1.4(i also have the diagonal lines on it). the lines do not appear on my v1.6's. i've tried it on 2 stock and one modded 1.6 and none of the 3 have the problem. i am connected thru the official hd xbox thing(with the component cable outputs). i'm wondering if it is an issue with certain capacitors that cause this? if so, does anyone know which specific ones cause it? the reason i ask is because it would be a pain to fully recap each board of the xbox when they are functioning perfectly in all other areas so i'd rather just replace the specific ones instead of recapping the whole board. btw, none of the cap are bulging or show obvious wear. i know that the 1.4's are very prone to the diagonal lines because of bad caps but i don't which ones are the problem.
  9. So I thought I'd try out life without a DVD drive but I've run into some issues after removing it, attaching just the mainboard to power/IDE, and flashing a noDVD M8+ BIOS patched for XboxHD+ and 128MB RAM. My symptoms: - When I try to start up CoinOPS Ninja, it just hangs on a black screen - When I press the controller buttons to reset the console, it enters a boot loop, eject flashes green and shows Xbox logo then black screen over and over again. Is the soft reset shortcut somehow tied to eject and the DVD drive? Xbox games themselves and other emulators seem to be launching fine btw.
  10. There's a few games not working on faster cpu. Does anyone know how to get Return to Castle Wolfenstein (NTSC) to run with a faster cpu ? (1 ghz, 1.4 ghz) ? On startup it dIsplays the first copyright screen and then it freezes just before loading the ESRB notice. HDD spins down to low activity. Same result happens if I use xbepatcher on the default.xbe. On my stock xbox this game runs just fine.
  11. Hi, I'm currently try to install strip led lights in my OG crystal case, it need a 12v source. IV tryed the 12v direct from the power supply board and also from a hard drive power splitter. The problems I'm have is it keeps blowing MOSFETs on the motherboard? Is there a limit to how many LEDs can be installed? Thanks
  12. chimp clones to new HDD with out problems but i get error 16 when i put in the new drive after cloning. i tried the 'fix error 16' button in chimp, it said it was good but when i put back in the new HDD i still get Error 16. The stock 10GB HDD i got with the xbox still works if i connect it. i then tired booting the xbox with the 10GB HDD then turning off the xbox and putting in the new HDD but then i got error 13. plz help i already spent like 70$$ on this shit. my xbox is soft modded i removed the clock capacitor i have a compatible HDD, 40-pin/80-wire IDE cables, a working SATA to IDE converter Thank you
  13. Hello all. First post here as I just got into modding xbox's. Picked up two og xbox's, one is a 1.6 and the other a 1.0. I did a full recap on the 1.6 board and power supply and replaced the dvd drive belt. Also installed a 500gb hard drive, installed a new dashboard and lastly installed MakeMHZ's HDMI board with OpenXenium mod chip. And to my surprise every worked perfect with little to no issues. However, this 1.0 has some problems. System wouldn't boot at all at, also tried booting from a dvd using hexen with no luck. So I installed a OpenXenium mod chip and it booted right up to the Xenium OS. So I figured I was good to go, I installed a the IND 5003.67 BIOS since it would be compatible with the 128mb ram upgrade for the console. So this is where I may have messed up, I just installed all 4 ram chips at the same time instead of testing after each one. Now systems turns on and off.. on and off again then on and stays on with a green ring but no picture. However if I press the eject once it stays on it launches into either Xenium OS or the IND BIOS.. Not sure how that makes sense, seems to be random. I would think if the ram was installed wrong or shorted I wouldn't even get this far?? I was even able to ftp over Capcom vs SNK 2 and it played fine.. I'm thinking maybe something's up with the stock BIOS? I bridged the pins on the board to do a tsop thinking that might solve my problem but I don't think I have anyway to flash to the stock chip since I can only boot from a modchip.. Sorry for the long read, I'm just lost at this point. Hoping someone has some suggestions or can make sense of any of this. Also I attached a link for pics of my ram install, maybe I'm missing something? Thanks guys Justin https://imgur.com/a/Q2F8Cqh
  14. I just got a 1.6 motherboard with the LPC rebuilt in the mail today, and slotted in an OpenXenium. It included the stock hard drive which unfortunately was destroyed in the shipping process. The drive I planned to upgrade it to, a 500gb SSD, had previously been in a softmodded Xbox which I completely bricked attempting to do an LPC rebuild myself, and was locked with an HDD key of all 1S thanks to Rocky5's Softmod. After installing the new drive, when I try to unlock the drive from XeniumOS it fails. When I try to format any of the partitions that too fails. When I try to boot a Hexen disc, it hangs on the Linux Xbox logo splashscreen for an infinite amount of time, with OGXboxInstaller producing the same results. I even flashed a different BIOS trying to get Hexen to boot. So I installed the SSD into my PC to erase the drive and start over, no big deal. Wrong. My PC will not move past the BIOS splashscreen when this drive is plugged in. I can't even use F12 to boot a GParted USB to wipe the drive. When hotswapping the drive in after Windows has booted up, any attempts to erase it with diskpart or partition manager give me I/O errors, and GPParted too will not detect the drive after a hotswap. I can't interact with it in any way from any operating system. As it stands, I have a modded Xbox and no way to use it. I'm not really sure where to go from here, so any help is more than appreciated.
  15. I recently picked up a used Seagate Barracuda 400gb IDE drive to put in as an upgrade for the stock drive on my hardmodded 1.6 Xbox. I also upgraded the IDE cable to an 80 wire, and seemed to have absolutely no problems getting it to work. Once I started FTPing games over, though, it stops adding anything new onto the drive after ~150gb. The files take up the space they should, but can't be seen or accessed at all after a power cycle. I looked into it and saw it was potentially a cluster size issue, but since my drive is only 400gb the maximum cluster size is 32, which I set it to. I've tried wiping the partition and starting over a few times, but this problem persists. Anyone know what could be causing it? I unfortunately can't connect the drive to my PC right now since I don't have any IDE to SATA adapter.
  16. Hello ! I have a bought a xbox with Xbmc4gamers installed, and i have a problem with fanarts and posters. When I press Up on the Xbox games carousel to access the dash customisation menu popup. I have only 2 choices about the views ...like something is locked. Impossible to access to the options of the view options. when i clic on the eye, nothing happen. Like something is locked. Also when i go to the settings page, i have the impression that something is missing What do you think ?
  17. I seem to have a lot of issues with my data files on my G partition. Any emulators, games, media, etc., on the F partition work flawlessly. I can copy the same files over to my G partition and it is very hit and miss on whether things will function properly. There are also times when I can have everything working on G, then copy over some files (FTP or FATxplorer) and suddenly, things go wonky even with files that I never touched. My HDD is a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB. So my G partition is quite large (803GB). My F partition is only 120GB. I used AID to prepare/format the drive. My BIOS is the EVOX m8+ CEE FG w/no DVD off the OGXBOX installer 1.5.3 disc. Is it possible that I am using a BIOS that doesn't handle that large G partition very well? Should I be using a different BIOS perhaps? It is very frustrating to work on making a HDD and getting the xbox all set up and then suddenly my files are corrupt for no apparently reason when they work just fine on F. Any insight here is greatly appreciated.
  18. Hello ! I really tried looking everywhere but I can't seem to find anything regarding my problem. I have a softmodded box with UnleashX, normal stuff. I have downloaded the Rocky5 Mod, I have the Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc.iso put in the Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc folder, which is next to the Detacher folder. Both folders are in the apps folder on disk F, they show up in the Applications menu. So I start up the Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc app, I get a black screen, and after a couple of seconds it just gives me the UnleashX logo and boots in the normal dashboard with nothing changed. I can't seem to find anyone else having this problem, don't know what to do.
  19. I recently bought a Xbox Crystal edition with 1.6 revision board. I’m told the HDD has been upgraded to a 7200RPM 160gb seagate drive and it has an aladdin XT mod chip. It worked fairly well for a couple of days, crashing once or twice and showing error code 07 or 21 a couple of times. I have some tolerance for this kind of thing from old hardware. This morning, however, it was a nightmare to get working. Error codes 07 and 21 came up (mainly 07). It booted up a couple of times operating very slowly and not recognising the HDD. The times I have got it working, games have crashed after about 20 minutes claiming that the disc is damaged even though running from HDD. Any ideas!?!
  20. Hello. Im new guy here. More of a customer then a modder. I recently purchased a modded xbox from a reputable source. The unit itself is great. I am having a problem though. I have a 65" vizio 4k tv in my living room (this is where i need this setup). I cannot get a stable signal to the tv. It is constantly dropping signal every 2-10 seconds. The screen is blacking out and on. I have spent all week trying to figure this out with multiple setups and adapters. Tried panorama hd converter cable Pound hd converter Component to hdmi Yes the connections are seated properly in the inputs. I tried every combination of all things on each individual hdmi input. All with the same results or worse even. The xbox itself works good on older tvs i have in other rooms. So i do not think this is the problem. I called vizio and they gave me a long answer which ended in the tv is just not compatible with this xbox. Which i think sounds like a bogus answer but, maybe they are right. Was basically that tv wont upscale an xbox to 4k. They told me hdmi 3 input is not a 4k input. That does not work either. I feel like their answer was lazy because if 4k is the problem and hdmi 3 input is not 4k and that does not work either then problem is something different. I also have an email conversation open with guys from pound technology. So far they are of no help at all. So my thoughts are who would know the answer to this better then the great people of ogxbox community. Guys who master fixing all problems xbox. Tv model# is V655-G9 Has 3x hdmi input And 1 x Composite (not component) 1 x Cable input Anyone here has had this issue before and solved it? I would appreciate very much any help you can provide. Thank you. Edit: if there is a better category to post this in let me know so i can move post.
  21. Hey guys, So I was attempting to make my own OpenXenium modchips. I managed to get all the components and build 6 of them. Of the 6, 4 of them were successfully programmed with a BusPirate XSVF programmer (i figure I just need to reflow and check for bridges on the other 2). When I go to do the final programming using Ryzee's Xenium tools only 1 of the 4 that were programmed actually get detected with the software. Even then when I go to program that one chip with the the tools it only gets to 50% complete and then the xbox just freezes on the flashing process leaving the chip in a partially flashed state. Im using the recovery.bin file from xbins for flashing. I was wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what might be wrong in this situation. Im in the process of setting up an NXDK environment to see if I can build the tools .xbe from there. Thanks

    Ftp Problems

I've been using filezilla to transfer games to my xbox, everything was well for the first ~100 games or so (using HDD ready list from Archive.org). I hit a point where every game i tried to move had many failed transfers, tried it in WinSCP and still had the failures. Then i went to the xbox to look at the file explorer and there were literally games disappearing before my eyes. As i tried to re-download some they have completely empty directories once transferred. I'm not sure what to do as this was all working before and i've done nothing different. Any ideas? I should add that i'm also using a 2tb hard drive and am nowhere near filling up the F drive.
  23. when i try to load burnout 3, it comes up with a blue loading bar and freezes when the bar fills. it locks up my whole xbox and i have to power cycle it, L R start and select won't even reset it. the system is hard modded and the game is installed on the hdd. any idea what's going on?
  24. Hey guys, I've had issues with my xbox for quite some time now. It is a 1.1, 128mb, TSOP flashed with Ind-Bios. Many games wouldn't boot, no matter what, tried different sources, settings whatsoever. Some games gave me a direct black screen when trying to run, some would boot but then lock up on the loading screen. So today I tried running Hexen2018 from the download section here from my hdd, but as i wasn't sure which bios to flash i chickened out and exited without doing anything. To my suprise my xbox no longer booted into XBMC4Gamers, but into unleashX, the first two times without showing the IND-BIOS boot up. As obviously something had changed I tried to run some of the games that hung on a black screen before, and suddenly they worked. The other games that hung on loading screen still didn't work, but I was glad Halo finally booted on me, as I wanted to play it for ages. But after a couple of reboots, the IND-BIOS bootup reappeared and my xbox started showing the same behavior as before. Halo gave me a black screen again, as five minutes before it was working. Anyone knows what might be the problem here? Do I need to reflash my BIOS maybe or use some other?
  25. Im having issues after installing the modchip. The chip lights up, boots, then system turns off, it does this twice, then the red green flash. No video input on screen. With chip removed from pin header the system boots normally. The DO wire was solidered to the mother board 6th pin on bottom and the chip is bridged to always be on. I did the exact same on a 1.0V Xbox and it works flawless. Not sure why this wont work, This xbox is made in china but i dont think its a 1.6 due to the date. It has a newer philips drive and newer seagate HDD. Please help!!!
