  3. I'm starting a slim xbox project in my spare time. Updates may be infrequent. The idea is hopefully to keep the entire box under 50mm thickness. I want to try and cram in a 2TB 2.5" HDD with SATA adaptor, a picoPSU, and Ryzee's wireless 360 controller board. The motherboard is a 1.0 that I've TSOP flashed and upgraded with 128MB RAM. It's going to be a very tight squeeze for sure. I've modeled a case for it that needs to be 3D printed--though the expense from Shapeways is a bit much for me right now, and it's too big for the local printers! The edge of the case will be sanded and wrapped with a brushed metallic vinyl. The top acrylic will be attached using press-in brass inserts and machine screws. The bottom of the case will be a frosted LED diffusing acrylic. Hopefully, I will have room to put some LEDs underneath for a nice soft glow. Today I started by attaching the cooling solution. I'm using a Dynatron A48G that I've drilled and tapped so I can attach it from the bottom. Two nylon washers were used to ensure proper mounting pressure without bending the motherboard PCB. I was planning on using a 120mm slim fan (only 15mm thick!) as my active cooling, but if I'm low on space and can't fit something I may have to use a 92mm instead. Right now with the 120mm fan it runs at 46c CPU, 40c M/B which is sufficient.
  4. Hi all I recently picked up an Original Xbox to mod (unsure of version due to it not working). and when I plug the power into the unit it starts up without the press of the power button, It posts on screen with the startup animation but ends abruptly and shuts off just to turn back on 2 seconds later this time with no bootup screen. This cycle continues until the power is disconnected I've tried fiddling with the power button in hopes it was just stuck with no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
  5. I successfully created and locked a 500GB IDE Seagate Hard drive using HDM V1.9. I transferred it to my xbox and it gets stuck at the xbox splash screen at start up for ages and then goes to Error 13 - any ideas? (It can take 2-3 minutes for the word "Microsoft" to appear under the xbox splash). Thanks
  6. I very recently put my name on a waiting list for this Xbox HD AV pack since it was decently priced. I never thought it would actually come in but it did this morning and I was able to get it. It clearly shows the OG Xbox HD AV pack and says so in the title but the Platform says Xbox 360. I wonder if this is a mistake and Lukie games thinks this is a 360 item or if Lukie games doesn't know what this HD Pack is really worth. In any case, if they send the wrong item, I'll just return it for a refund. It's cheap enough to take a chance on. I'll let you all know if I receive the correct item. In the meantime, you may want to put your name of the waiting list in case another comes along. https://www.lukiegames.com/xbox-hd-high-definition-av-pack#
  7. At first glance, I thought this meant the console was operating a bit buggy. Well, I guess it is in a way... I mean, couldn't the seller be bothered to clean it first? What type of "Captain Trips" Biohazard was this guy selling? What's even more shocking is... 4 WERE SOLD! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Xbox-Original-Video-Game-Console-only-1219-/333191076802?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l10137.c10&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true
  8. Hi Im thinking about possibly selling my crystal original xbox with Xecuter 3 control panel but was wondering what it would all be worth before hand? It comes with: Xecuter Crystal Control Panel Case with original Team Xecuter LCD screen. N64's 1.4ghz cpu and 128mb ram upgrade Version 1.0 motherboard Xecuter X3 Purple Modchip 200GB IDE hard drive Xecuter X3IR kit fitted so you can turn the xbox on from the dvd remote Blue led's installed into controller ports Good condition and fully working. So just to recap this is not for sale I'm just asking what it would all be worth? If this is posted in the wrong forum please feel free to move. The photo below only shows the xbox has 64mb ram but this was taken before I upgraded it to the new cpu and 128mb. https://ibb.co/2K6zTV1
  9. Hey guys, im new here so this is my first post and regretfully its a bad post. Being the dumb idiot I am, I accidentally flashed a 1.0-1.5 BIOS onto my 1.6b Xbox, the modchip is an aladdin from about 10 years or so, now my Xbox wont even output any video and its FRAGGING, its also not letting me open the disk tray, is my Xbox completely broke or am I able to put a new modchip in?
  10. Xbox Slim Ghost White This is one of my projects that I finished in 2018. -vga mod -ssd Samsung 500GB - slot for ps2 joypad -128MB Ram -1 GHz processor -lcd screen with smartxx chip -wifi mod
  11. I successfully set up XBMC Emustation and now I'm wondering which emulators are the best for each system- any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks
  12. Hey, Everyone! I joined the a few weeks ago. I've been modding OG Xbox since the days of The Screen Savers on Tech (G4) TV. I got my first and only modchip, an Xecuter 2.3b Lite+ back in around 2003. The very first time I got the new Evolution-X Dashboard to load and a Genesis emulator to run I was over the moon thrilled and thus began my heightened interest in "modding" things. I was always perusing the Xbox-scene website. Shortly thereafter, I had quite a few folks ask me to mod their systems but they were all softmods and hard drive upgrades. I left the Xbox modding scene pretty much right after the 360 came out but, when I discovered CoinOps, Rocky5's softmod tools, and TSOP modding a couple years ago, it reignited my interest. I've been practicing my soldering skills so I figured I'd give TSOP modding a go. My model 1.0 Xbox I bought back in 2001 was the guinea pig and was successful with the TSOP on the first try. I first removed the old modchip as it was having issues staying in contact with the motherboard. This would cause it to power cycle 3 times then flash red. Once it was removed, the problem went away. I was so elated that I found someone on FB Marketplace who sold my his 1.0, 2 duke controllers, and about 12 games for $30. He said it was having issues shutting off but, after a good cleaning and a clock capacitor removal, it's working great. I TSOP modded that one as well although it took me about 6 tries to get the TSOP writeable. My next hardware venture may be into the realm of 128MB upgrades although my soldering skills are kinda crappy. I actually really enjoy playing these old games too and have recently completed Baldur's Gate I and II, Evil Dead: Regeneration, and am currently playing Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. Here are some of the other retrogaming interests I've involved myself with: Created a Arcade (LaunchBox/Hyperspin) system from a shoddy empty arcade cabinet. It now includes about 80 systems and tens of thousands of games (see slideshow below). You can view my Hyperspin contributions here: https://hyperspin-fe.com/profile/18535-malarrya/content/?type=downloads_file You can view my LaunchBox contributions here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/profile/79634-malarrya/content/?type=downloads_file (I'm very proud of the D&D Platform I created). Fully restored a Marvel vs Capcom 2 machine from non-working/shoddy status to fully working and Net DIMM expandable. The Net DIMM is a Naomi system cartridge that's network capable and contains 512MB of flash memory so many other Naomi games can be flashed to the cabinet. Soft-modded several Nintendo Wii systems installing new games, emulators, and programs with an SD card. Updated my Sega Dreamcast so games are launchable from the rear serial port using an SD card. Still own my original Sega Genesis with 32x and Sega CD and have collected about 30+ 32x games. Restored/fixed 2 ColecoVisions and amassed about 50 games Own about 60 Original Xbox games, 2 dozen Xbox 360, and about 10 Xbox One games. I've owned the following consoles (in personal chronological order): Pong, Atari 2600, ColecoVision, NES, Sega Genesis, Sega 32x, Xbox original, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox One S, and Sega CD. I've always been the "other system" guy. Coleco over Atari, Sega over Nintendo, Xbox over PlayStation, Samsung over Apple, Samsung over Sony (TVs), etc. My interests also include my family, snowboarding, baseball, hockey, movies, guitar, boardgames, throwing Halloween parties, and Comic-Con (conventions). I mostly listen to Celtic music, John WIlliams music, Beatles, Pop-punk, and 80s. Good to meet you all!

  14. Hellow OG Xbox community, creating this topic as a place to discuss installation, operation and modding of an Xecuter 3 CE Red-backed modchip with LCD, for help and questions, I am in no way an expert, but a very knowledgeable technician who is interested in helping others to use, repair or mod their systems. Lets share knowledge!!

  16. First, i would like to thank Rocky5 for giving me a reason to break this xbox out again! I just finished setting up a 1TB drive and was going to drop it inside the xbox until i realized i need a 2TB drive before i do that. Before i do that i would like to take care of a few things. Here are some of the things i will be needing help on. Which drive is better, WD Blue or Black? Which Bios should i be using now? Which version mobo should i use? I haven't touched this xbox in 10 years. I'm a little rusty. I totally forgot how to flash this thing. I have 5 other regular xbox's here and want to rebuild the perfect unit in 1 shot while i have the chance. I'll pick the best version board that's recommended and swap all the parts over. Then i plan to flash all the bios banks that i can with the recommended ones. Once all that is done i want to drop in that 2TB WD black or blue drive. Can i get any advice? I've been out of circulation for awhile but i've got the old bug back! Thanks guys
  17. Hi - I have a Western Digital IDE drive lying around that is definitely not lockable for Xbox - can I use it if I Tsop my v.1 Xbox? Thanks

  19. Hi, it's been awhile since I've touched my XBOX. Background Information: - It's either a 1.1 or a 1.2 - Gave it a thorough cleaning - I bridged the solder points and TSOP flashed it with no issues - Removed the time capacitor - It's connected to an OSSC via the Official Microsoft XBOX Component Cables - I have a second XBOX that's also either a 1.1 / 1.2 that I did all the aforementioned things to that plays just fine. - The XBOX was working fine for over a week Issue: - The XBOX turns on fine, and the Microsoft Introduction Plays - The screen flashes once (as does my other one) before it tries to boot the HDD - Usually right after the introduction, it used to load right into the Unleash X dashboard, but now the screen stays blank for a good 20-30 seconds before I see a very unstable image of Unleash X main menu go across the screen. - It seems like the XBOX cannot hold the picture steady and keeps changing resolutions. Things I tried: - Replaced the 3x 6.3v 3300 capacitors near the CPU as one was bulging - Used the official Microsoft XBOX Composite Cables that boots normally and the picture comes up fine I'm not sure if it's just old and other things are going on the board. All the other capacitors seem to be fine on the motherboard itself, although I haven't really looked at the PSU yet. I'm mostly new to this so I'm not sure what to look for in terms of the composite working but not the component since both cables work fine on the other XBOX. Thanks in advance.
  20. Is it possible to attach Xbox IDE hard drive to a windows 7 or later SATA PC and build the hard drive from a softmodded xbox or do I need to find a really old PC? I know I used a Dell Optiplex years ago but I have it away to a mate a couple of years ago and he doesn't have it anymore. If I need an old PC can anyone recommend a specific spec - as I might have to buy one second hand - thanks in advance.

  25. Hi - I softmodded my xbox original five years ago and didn't use it much because of a house move. I took it out last night and realised that the upgraded 250GB drive is very noisy and sounds like it is dying. I upgraded before using Chimp. I am wondering can I use Chimp again with another 250GB hard drive or does the next hard drive have to be bigger than the 250GB drive? I have looked for an answer on google but all search returns related to upgrading to a larger drive from the stock drive - there doesn't seem to be anything about swapping a drive for another drive that is equal in size. Kind Regards
