About Me

  1. https://github.com/gaasedelen/titan#overview Overview Titan is a series of hand-written binary patches for the original Microsoft Xbox kernel. These patches are designed to expand the storage capabilities of the popular 2001 game console in excess of 16TB. This is achieved by modifying the kernel to support LBA48 and extending the number of addressable 512-byte disk sectors in the IO stack. Special thanks to Mike Davis for his serial debugging boards, Matt Borgerson for his tireless efforts on XEMU & FATX, and finally Paul Bartholomew (oz_paulb) for his original LBA48 research from 2003 which facilitated up to 2TB for the past 15+ years. All of these people and their open-source works played an important role in the creation of Titan. Disclaimer This project does NOT use any copyrighted code, or help circumvent security mechanisms of an Xbox console. These patches should be considered highly experimental pending further attestation. By using this software, you accept the risk of experiencing total loss or destruction of data on the console in question. Titan may break existing Xbox homebrew, and existing homebrew may break Titan-based systems. Usage Titan's PC-based kernel patcher is written in Python 3. It is strongly recommended that you download the released packages which bundle the applicable dependencies for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Example usage is provided below: python3 tpatch.py m8plus_kernel.img Successful output should look something like the following: [*] Patching with Titan v1.0 -- by Markus Gaasedelen [*] - Hashing kernel 'C:\titan\m8plus_kernel.img' to ensure compatibility [*] - 0x800243AA: Patching HddStartVerify(...) Additional Notes Some additional notes about Titan are as follows: Formatting The FATX project is currently the only tested/supported method to format a disk for a Titan-based system XBPartitioner/XBlast/XeniumOS/FATXplorer are all considered unsupported and probably require updates I fully expect these tools to get updated releases in the near-future Partitions Titan is essentially hardcoded to use a 'F (Partition 6) Takes All'-esque partitioning scheme Titan could be extended to support additional partitions, but it seems unnecessary Clusters Titan allows increased cluster sizes of 128kb, 256kb and 512kb It is strongly recommended to format large disks (2TB+) with 1024 sectors per cluster (512kb) Matt's FATX is the only tool that can currently format disks with larger clusters Increased cluster sizes dramatically increases the speed of mounting FATX volumes (faster bootup) Increased cluster sizes will ensure more linear reads on the disk (faster file reads, game loading, etc.) Increased cluster sizes allows for more items in the root disk directory (8192 items at 512kb clusters) If you're using Titan, you can afford the luxury of bigger clusters so stop complaining about wasted space Increased cluster sizes were never the issue for limiting drive/partition sizes, this is FUD 64kb clusters should work on the Titan partition but bootup/mounting WILL be slow for large disks UDMA Titan can change the UDMA transfer mode used by the kernel with --udma N Increasing the UDMA mode has been profiled to improve some game load times in excess of 20% Increasing the UDMA mode will require an 80pin IDE cable The retail Xbox uses UDMA 2 (33mb/s) by default (as do many/all (?) modified BIOS') The maximum supported UDMA mode by the Xbox southbridge is UDMA 5 (100mb/s HDD <--> CPU) UDMA 5 DOES NOT WORK WITH ALL IDE TO SATA ADAPTERS UDMA 5 has been confirmed working with Startech adapters but has not been properly benchmarked UDMA 5 is unstable on RXD-629A7-7 based adapters, but UDMA 4 seems okay WLXKG-863B are the 'worst' adapters I have experienced working on Titan and are largely untested Games A random assortment of games have been tested to ensure some baseline on system stability I don't expect major issues here, but more testing should be obviously be done Dashboards XBMC seems to work fine EvoX seems to work fine EvoX displays the incorrect disk size because it performs a modulus of 'available gigabytes' by 1000 This does not mean that you formatted incorrectly, or that the HDD is corrupt FTP seems okay? Dashboard-based FTPs are probably much safer than BIOS-based FTP (eg. XeniumOS) Consider all other dashboards as untested Other Homebrew Notes DVD2Xbox works fine FTP via XeniumOS is probably risky. I would only use it to transfer files onto RETAIL partitions (C or E) Anything booting into a BFM BIOS (PBL, Hexen?) is totally unsupported for accessing the Titan partition (F) Consider all other homebrew as untested Patches Titan is only supported on the M8+ kernel. M8+ is a modified version of the final retail kernel (5838) Titan/M8+ can be used on ALL retail hardware revisions (1.0 -> 1.6b) These patches can almost certainly be ported to other Xbox kernels, but not something I plan on doing Previous iterations of these patches modified the kernel to use 4K sectors but was deemed unnecessary The released patches can be further simplified, moving away from the original 4K implementation More experimental patches that further accelerate mounting large FATX volumes may be added later
  2. I got an xbox v1.0 motherboard with an xecuter 2.3 pro modchip that was not working. I took it apart and found the d0 wire was loose, so I resoldered that connection and hooked everything up and the system ran fine for about 4 hours, at which point I powered everything down and went to bed. this morning I go to power on the unit and the blue lights on the modchip light up and the fans spin for a second, but no lights on the front panel and nothing else happens. the capacitors on the power supply and near the psu connector on the motherboard all look fine. not sure what else to check, so any help would be appreciated. Also, the clock cap was removed before I got the xbox, presumably when the modchip was originally installed VID_20220223_031845379.3gp

  4. I'm very new to the modding scene. I'm using pretty cheap Component cables but everything looks and sounds fine in 480i. I've tried using MS dash to enable the settings but it seems to have no effect. It stays ON in MS even after reboot but there's no change. Once I enable any of the HD settings in UnleashX and reboot, I hear everything but no video outputs. I've tried each one 1 at a time and just 2 and all 3. Same result, no video output. For info, It's a v1.6 with an Aladdin XT, I Added 2Tb HDD. Unlocked. And it's NTSC. Am I missing something simple or could this be bad cables or motherboard issue? Every guide I've seen makes it look so simple. When I plug in my composite cable it will automatically reboot and I don't have the option to enable or disable HD. I can't set it to default with composite cables. The only way I can undo it is by listening the audio and going through the menu blind and changing it back with my component cable. Which isn't that difficult. I can't find this specific issue here so if it exists I'd be happy to read the thread. Thank you.
  5. For some reason when I turn on the Xbox I am greeted with the error code 05 (unlocked hard drive). But I thought an unlocked hard drive was usable with a mod chip installed? - Re-soldered the wires from the D0 point, BT point mod chip flashed red, BT is joined to the mod chip so it is always on. Despite all of this the Xbox boots up displaying the error code 05. and no sign of the chip working its magic. Thanks, Pez.
  6. Hi Im looking for a halo2 blue crystal box only.
  7. So I found my old Original Xbox from a while ago and decided to turn it on to see what games I had and what was on the system. When I turned on the console using the power button the screen was black (no signal). But, when I pressed the disk eject button it started up with the boot screen playing but sent me to the error screen with the code 05. The console has a Duo x2 Fujitsu mod chip and from what I remember the console used EvolutionX as the dashboard. The mod chip also flashes red when I turn on the console (not sure if this is bad or not)? I didn't make any changes to the console so I'm confused as to what happened to it? Does anyone know what the problem is?
  8. I’ve recently installed an Aladdin mod chip in my original Xbox after it stopped showing a video output. I am assuming that it was the original tsop chip that had died on the motherboard and therefore installing a mod chip would be able to successfully bypass it. However after installing the mod chip it won’t get past the initial boot screen. It just loses video output and then comes up with error 21. (It also doesn’t always boot successfully after pressing the power button, sometimes there is just no video output) Pretty sure it’s a version 1.4-1.5 For the Aladdin install I’ve soldered d0 to ground and bt on the chip to ground on the chip. Does anyone have any suggestions to get it working?
  9. I‘m new to the Xbox modding scene and i have a problem with unleashx dashboard. I installed a 500GB WD HDD in my 1.4 Xbox with Aladdin XT Plus 2 modchip. As setup/boot disc i used TruHexen 2021 out of the Forum. It recognizes the new HDD without problems and did format it perfectly. I installed the unleashx dashboarb, and rebootet. The console is booting until the point where the big X with the Xbox writing under it. After a few seconds Microsoft pops up under the Xbox logo. But then it looks like it is doing nothing. (I let it try for a few minutes, if its a slow bootup.) So have redone everything. I installed everything again with the TruHexen 2021 disc. But this time, i let it install every dashboard. I tried every single one. (avalaunch, evolution X etc.) They all work fine! Only unleashx wont boot with the same problems as is described bevore….. What could be the problem here/ is there a solution?
  10. It works just fine I am looking for someone to install more games for the kids. Thanks. $. I can be reached via email at [email protected]
  11. I don't remember if its an old problem or not, but what I did recently is I soldered on the Aladdin xt2 chip the "BT" to be always on, and its working fine I mean I can play games, responsive and everything, but I can't turn it off, and it starts right away as soon as I plug it into the wall. With the EvoX dash I could manually turn it off, but then I could not turn it on. The button is green, so its not the button. And its an Xbox 1.6 so theorietically the clock capacitor couldn't leak out onto the motherboard and corrode a trace. Also, I found no corrosion on traces, but I only checked the upper side of the motherboard, I dont really know whats on the other side. Any idea? Thanks By the way this is what I did with the aladdin:
  12. I have a Samsung dvd drive, it can read original discs fine, even when in the xbmc dashboard, but burned discs can only be run when I restart the console after I put the disc in. And only DVD-R, the DVD+R doesnt work at all. When I'm in the XBMC and I insert the burned disc it says "invalid path". So seems like the dvd drive is fine, maybe some app messes up something?
  13. Has anyone seen this? After talking to a well known scene member he says its legit. up to 8tb hdd and .iso supported. From xbox scene forums: "This is a new custom bios with all existing and new features implemented by the team. While we may share some similarities that can be found in bioses such as config loading, custom colors etc, our solution will be different compared to all existing solutions. In addition new tools will also be released to take advantage of some of the features we have implemented. With our custom LBA support we now support hdds up to 8TB in storage size.No more 2.2tb limitations and file corruption.***8TB size limit may be expanded upon again in the futureMore info will be made available in due time Everyone loves a little ISO in their life. So why not add it natively into our bios.No more patching Bioses with hacky ASM, Diskutilities, Dashloader or Nkpatcher. With Cerbios just boot your console select your favorite game and enjoy endless hours of fun.Existing attach.xbe compatible.Check out the videos below of two problematic games working flawlessly as ISO and on 128mb hardware using Cerbios.https://emalm.com/?v=WU9GVhttps://emalm.com/?v=RNwC3But why should I use ISOs over HDD dumps?Well with our custom LBA support for HDD up to 8TB there is no excuse about not having enough space.ISOs do not have file length limitation like some HDD rip games do, so no patching or truncating of file names is required. All DRM checks pass as ISO (Harry Potter).More info TBA" Cerbios Alpha V1.zip
  14. Just getting back into Xboxes after being out since 03-04. I found 14 cds/DVDs of backups and utilities, emulators and bioses. I built my son one was in clear case remote power on and at the time a huge 160gb hd. With a Xenium Ice chip and programer port.
  15. Hello everyone, got an xbox classic v1.1 with an aladdin advanced chip but the ring is always red, also on boot the dvd drive spins up really fast twice how can I fix it? Tried flashing different bioses and changing the ring color in settings but nothing.
  16. Hi all. I was going through some stuff at the weekend and I came across my old OG Xbox that I won on a radio competition in the UK. It’s the Tony Hawks Underground 2 one and with it I got a skateboard deck that has the same artwork painted on it. I’m really not sure what I want to do with it but I have seen that it is quite rare as some sites say there’s only 10 of them but nowhere can I see mentioned the skateboard I hardly played it but did get an xecuter 2 chip fitted to it. I’ve tested it and all is still working, unfortunately I don’t have the box anymore. What could it be worth and is there somewhere other then EBay where these things get sold?? Regards Mark
  17. Hi, I found a 1.6 Xbox with an Aladdin modchip in dual boot (EvoX purple logo in the top left corner when I long press the power button). It booted an old version of xbmc, so I decided to use OGXbox Installer 2021 1.5.4 PBL (the latest version) to do a format and install the latest dash. I went to Format and Setup, then Launched XBPartitioner1.3 (black screen for a while and returned to OGXbox Menu). Then rebooted, and selected "AiO setup a new large HDD", even if the hdd is the stock one, because I followed the readme After the format though, if I reboot the xbox without the dvd inserted it hangs on boot (green Xbox with purple EvoX Logo and "Microsoft" in the bottom center). I tried selecting various default dash but it doesn't work. I don't know how the hardmod works (I am used to softmodding), but I think that maybe it searches for the dash somewhere else (?). Can someone help me please?
  18. I have just found an Xbox v1.1 during a unit clearance so I have no idea of the history. The unit powers on for a few seconds and powers down again, it is flashing just orange and the fan is at full speed. The 5 3300uF caps by the power supply connector have been swapped but no other signs of soldering that I can see on the LPC port or anywhere else. It had a leaking battery cap but only minor. I have removed it, washed the corrosion of with vinegar and then isopropyl but no change. I can't see any broken traces and I have belled the long traces underneath on the front edge (I have read these area common failure) but they are OK. The advice online seems to be that it is a mod problem. Clearly it hasn't been hard modded. It may have a softmod gone wrong so perhaps putting in a modchip might be a good idea so the XBOX has a known working BIOS. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks...
  19. So I ordered a Pound HDMI Cable for my Xbox because my Sony Bravia 850h TV has NO COMPONENT hookups! I really don't mind low resolution when im OG Gaming, but the only TV in my house that has components is in my bedroom and that is not where everyone games. Unboxing the Pound HDMI Cable and hooking it up, I immediately had video drop outs every 5-15 seconds it didn't matter if it was dashboard, games, anything. I also had wavy lines. This was WITH the microusb plugged in and powered. Things i tried: 1) all different HDMI ports 2) different HDMI cables 3) microusb using powered adapter 4) microusb plugged into TV Nothing fixed it, so I recorded and sent my info to pound. Their customer service is top notch and they sent me a new cable. This is where things get interesting. New cable, FLAWLESS HD Video, no lines, nothing! Looks amazing on the dashboard, loaded up CoinOps8 PERFECT, then I started Fable and immediately got drop outs. UGH! I did a lot of testing and I believe the first cable was a hardware issue. The new cable I now believe it is an issue with Sony 4k TV's. The drop out does not occur on ANY 720p+ games: Soul Caliber 2, Nitro cart racing, Tony hawk Underground etc. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and am at my wits end. I wonder if Chimera or XBOX2HDMI will have the same issues on my TV. I am really thinking at this point the only real solution is the XBOXHD+ upgrade, but i was really hoping not to shell out 140$ as thats almost the cost of my entire mod, and I would like to keep the case as close to original as possible. Ideas/thoughts? 20. Wanted to give a little walk through on my 20$ Fan upgrade. Watching the videos Everyone shows removing the motherboard, but this is unnecessary. 1. Remove case shell, DVD Drive, and Hard Drive. (6 screws on the bottom of case), 2 on DVD holder, 1 on HD/DVD holder overlap, 1 on HD holder. 2. Unplug the fan from motherboard. 3. Use two small flathead screwdrivers on each side of the fan and pry clip gently away from the fan. 4. After you pull up a couple centimeters, pull away from the back of the case to get the fan to unlatch from the back of the case 5. Now you can completely pull up and pull the fan out. 6. Before putting the new fan in put two pieces of 3M double sided tape over those two clip holes on the bottom. Otherwise you will see those holes on the bottom of the xbox. 7. Zip tie the long cable that comes with the fan and use four screws to attach the adapter to the new fan. MAKE SURE THE BLADES FACE THE SAME DIRECTION AS OLD FAN. You want it to exhaust not intake! 8. Push the fan down and put the clips into the slots on the back of the case, then push and clip all the way down. 9. Reattach power wire and make sure the zip tied wire goes to the left of the DVD case holder. 10. Reassemble, test, then put the case back together. This fan moves a ton of air, is really quiet, and the bearings feel WAY better then my old fan. Overall, Ill give this mod a 3/10 on difficulty due to HD, and DVD removal. 21. Hello, I need some help with my Xbox Classic 1.4. It`s modded with an Aladdin Advanced Chip. I decided to revieve my System as it only had 110GB IDE drive. I changed it to 2TB SATA drive and all worked fine. Except for one problem: I changed partitions with Hexen 2018 and began to copy files via FTP. The F partition was 1,7TB. As the time reaching 1TB of copied files I got write-errors. I figured out it`s because F is too big. So I partitioned F and G to 956 each (or something similar) with Hexen 2018s Xbpartioner 1.3. All worked fine but after reboot I saw that F was only 127GB wit Xbpartitioner 1.3 from HDD with error message that the BIOS does not support custom partitions. So I flashed the BIOS and this was the beginning of the end... After flashing the Xbox did not boot, just shows logo (used IND 5004) and after that the screen stays black. Since then the xbox does not boot from DVD. I flashed the flash chip with a Nano USB programmer with Evox.m8plus,fc.137MySpezialBlue.bin. After boot I see the blue xbox logo but I am still not able to boot from Hexen 2018 to reconfigure the HDD. Short time after the LED starts blinking red/green with error 07 on Screen. How can I make the Xbox boot from DVD again?? Thx for help in advance. Regards.
  22. Hello everyone, A while back I bought a couple of Xbox's 1.0 , 1.3 & a 1.6 . Fixed the first two up and running , now the last one turns on and off 3 times, then flashes red/green without video, previous owner says it had the error 06 but for me It doesn't give a video signal at all. A visual inspection of the board for any bulged capacitors shows no obvious faults, although I am aware that sometimes with an ESR meter (which i dont have) you can tell which is good and which is bad. I'm using a component cable and the V1.6 xbox is a PAL unit and the hard drive inside is definitely not stock 160GB storage and no hard mod is installed. A quick search gives me the idea that its probably the eeprom ( dead or corrupted ) if that is the case and assuming i have no backup as i do not know what the previous owner did to it, what should i do ? if not any ideas what should i check / do to troubleshoot the problem ? . I have a Rpi , arduino and an old eeprom universal flasher ( i will check if it supports the chips ). Oh and i have an Aladdin XT PLUS2 on hand if that would help , but kindly note that I have never used them before but if someone has a guide that would be appreciated as well. Best Regards SP
  23. Would it be advantegious? Or would it cause any interference?
  24. Does anyone know of a cheap XBOX arcade control encoder or way to use a modded XBOX with arcade controls? I currently have two cocktail cabinets I am trying to build up: one with an IPAC, and one with dragonrise encoders. Ultimarc used to have one you could use with an IPAC be they no longer carry it and they aren't even on ebay. I have seen degenatrons controller hack and its beyond my technical capabilities. Thanks!
