About Me

  1. Hello All, I have a xbox that i picked up used, and it has a xecuter pro 2.1 (i believe) but it does not have the front or rear rs232 or DIP switch plates. When i boot i get an error of an unlocked drive, so I assume it is trying to boot to factory BIOS and it has a WD 120GB IDE drive in it. I tried to jump the D0 wire to ground as I read that would force it to use the xecuter's bios, and when I do that I get a greyscale screen that "xbox Linux Clean BIOS 1.22dev" screen that tells me to put in a disc. is this something i can do with Hexen? Thank you for any help
  2. I recently upgraded my HDD successfully to a 1TB HDD. Set everything up with Hexen. Made sure my F partition was setup with 64k cluster size. Yet now almost halfway through my F drive being full, i can no longer copy files successfully to that partition. Whether it be via FTP or the file manager on the console itself. I get no errors via FTP, all i see is that it changes to passive mode, but nothing actually copies. I do get an error with the file manager, its just an error number. Doing some research it seems that it would be the cluster size of the partition. But i checked with xboxparitioner 1.3 and it is indeed 64k. I am going to copy off my data, and reformat the partition, verify all my settings again, but curious if anyone has any idea to what the issue can be? I hope its not a faulty drive as it is brand new. Thanks in advance!
  3. https://imgur.com/a/OJsz0Uw please click that link so that u can see a video of what i'm talking about. you'll notice that there are vertical static(static as in fuzzy static on a tv not, static as in "unchanging") lines on the screen when there is a dark scene. the video doesn't show it too well but they are even easier to see in person. that is the opening sequence of xmen legends. i have this problem on 2 of my stock xbox v1.0's and on my modded v1.4(i also have the diagonal lines on it). the lines do not appear on my v1.6's. i've tried it on 2 stock and one modded 1.6 and none of the 3 have the problem. i am connected thru the official hd xbox thing(with the component cable outputs). i'm wondering if it is an issue with certain capacitors that cause this? if so, does anyone know which specific ones cause it? the reason i ask is because it would be a pain to fully recap each board of the xbox when they are functioning perfectly in all other areas so i'd rather just replace the specific ones instead of recapping the whole board. btw, none of the cap are bulging or show obvious wear. i know that the 1.4's are very prone to the diagonal lines because of bad caps but i don't which ones are the problem.
  4. I've two 1.0 motherboard sets (ie. motherboards, controller daughterboards and power supplies) for sale. Both have clock caps removed. Both working - no issues. One of them has some clock cap damage (namely C7G6 missing). That cap (C7G6) is part of clock circuit so as long as you don't plan on bringing back the clock cap it's not used and not needed. Price for the lot: 50 Euro plus shipping (I'm in Ireland). Shipping to UK should be around 5-10 Euro max. Other EU countries - please ask.
  5. i've been asking about why my xbox has started emitting an intermittent high pitched whining sound. well, i was just doing some more troubleshooting with the top shell off. i was feeling of the dvd and hdd and i noticed it felt like i was getting a mild shock. so i got my volt meter and stuck one probe in the ground prong of an outlet and another one on different metal parts of the xbox. i was reading 60+ ac volts(i'm in the usa so we have 120 volts, one hot leg and 2 ground legs, at our wall outlets). i figured i had a bad psu so i changed it. here comes the weird part. i did the same test with a volt meter and was still reading 60+ volts with the known good psu in it. i tested the other xbox that the psu came out of before removing the psu and it was showing 10 volts. so how would 60+ volts get through to the metal parts of the xbox if the psu is not at fault? update: now the known good xbox and psu are showing 56 volts. are they suppose to do this or did i damage the psu?
  6. hello all, im playing some Forza Motorsport the NTCS version and the collection of trainers i have only has a couple PAL versions for this game and they don't work with my version of Forza, so im trying to figure out how to make my own, i have setup an old laptop with windows xp and found a version of the XDK and installed it, can anyone help me out with this? should i try to make a evox trainer or some other format that is compatible with xbmc4gamers ? thanks in advance

    Help With Pgr2

well i'm new in this site and recently i got a og xbox 1.6 so I copy a lot of games but the most wanted for me and i can't play is projec ghotman 2 the game stay in the firts part and say error disk is dirty or bad, so I copy 3 times the game and extrac the same from the 7zip file and still the problem so, i'm thinking maybe is the xbe file, so i dunno if somebody had a working defaul.xbe for pgr2 ntsc or how fix that problem yuo i know the best way is downlad copy the orignial game to the hdd again, but sadly my original copy of this game is in really bad shape, victim of v1.0 dvd drive yup my firt xbox was a 1.0 model who decides fry the nvidia chipset after 12 years (power supply problem plus caps leak) leave me alone in the 2011 anyway so if anybody had a funtional .xbe for this game plz give me a copy, i dont want download a redrump just for that
  8. i like to play halo 2 on xlink kai but my vizio 4k tv just makes it not fun. i have adjusted all the settings in the menu to give minimum latency but it's still there. someone pointed out that part of the latency is caused by the fact that the xbox is sending an analog signal to the tv and the tv has to convert it to digital before it can put it to the screen(i know there is inherit input lag in a va panel led tv but that's not what i'm talking about right now). i said all that to ask this question, would one of the hdmi mods for the xbox help solve some of that latency problem by sending a digital signal to the tv? my current setup is using the microsoft hd component adapter and component cables. the tv is a px75-g1. btw, i know it's best to play on a crt but that is difficult right now for several reasons.
  9. Strange I am unable to read burnt discs with Phillips DVD drv on the 1.4 but originals boot fine. No issues with Issues with Phillips DVD drv on 1.1. Do I have to apply a patch to DVD drv? If no I will try another DVD-R burner on slowest speed. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hello everyone I have been working on a slim xbox build and have it 95% working the way it should with some off the shelf parts that are not the pico psu. The only sticky issue that is pretty minor is the switched power requirements. I don't really understand electronics that well past what I call a "blackbox" understanding. You know, I understand that the boards I use say they will take a certain voltage in and output whatever but no knowledge to build a more complex circuit for switching the reset line for the smc. I am using a meanwell psu that is rated for 5v20A that you can find in a lot of places on the internet. Then I am using two boards from Pololu. One to step up the voltage to 12v:https://www.pololu.com/product/2568 and another to knock the 5v down to 3.3v https://www.pololu.com/product/4090 I was wondering if you all could help me with a schematic or some understanding of how to switch on and off the 3.3v signals to help reset the smc. I have some idea that you could use some transistors maybe to accomplish this but I am not super sure. The goal here would be to use the above boards in custom pcb for future slim xbox builds. Sorry if this isn't super clear Here is the picture of my install and somewhat self evident why it could be better looking
  11. I have only 1 sata adapter and want to upgrade to 1TB. I have usb adapter, and i could connect my old 2.5" hdd to my laptop and use hirens CD to clone HDD. I think it would work, it would copy all sectors, but what about formatting?
  12. Hey guys, So I was attempting to make my own OpenXenium modchips. I managed to get all the components and build 6 of them. Of the 6, 4 of them were successfully programmed with a BusPirate XSVF programmer (i figure I just need to reflow and check for bridges on the other 2). When I go to do the final programming using Ryzee's Xenium tools only 1 of the 4 that were programmed actually get detected with the software. Even then when I go to program that one chip with the the tools it only gets to 50% complete and then the xbox just freezes on the flashing process leaving the chip in a partially flashed state. Im using the recovery.bin file from xbins for flashing. I was wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what might be wrong in this situation. Im in the process of setting up an NXDK environment to see if I can build the tools .xbe from there. Thanks
  13. Picked up a crystal green OG last week. When I power it on I’m getting 3X boot and frag. The person I bought this from suggested I flash bios but he doesn’t remember what mod chip or bios it has running now.
  14. I've been trying to TSOP flash my 1.1 XBOX. I've successfully soldered the proper connections on the motherboard (not easy with a soldering iron that doesn't have adjustable heat levels). But for the life of me, I can't get HeXEn to burn to a disc. I've tried 3 different computers and used up 5 DVD-Rs. I've been battling with this Xbox for months now, and I'm sicking of pouring all this money and time into it without any results. I know it's silly to ask, but is there any way that someone could mail me a copy of HeXEn on a disc? I will more than happily pay for the mailing costs of it (shouldn't be that much anyways). I just want to get my Xbox back in working order again so I can finally store my games and play them. If anyone would like to help me out, please shoot me a message and we can arrange details. Also, there's a program that checks if you've properly soldered the connections on the motherboard, right? If someone has that, the same arrangements can be made (preferably both discs from one person). Hopefully this request isn't out of line. I'm just really tired of this thing not working for me.
  15. well, i modded my 2nd xbox tonight and i'm having a weird problem. on the home screen, the cpu temp is slowly rising. the temp limit was set at 50 c and it would get up to about 51c and the fan would kick up to about 3.0x. so i raised the temp limit to 55c. the xbox is slowly climbing to that temp. it's sitting at 54c right now. what is causing this and how do i fix it? my 1st modded xbox is a version 1.4 and it idles in the 40's at 1.0x fan speed. btw, i changed the 3 caps in front of the heat sink on both systems.i also changed the cpu thermal paste on both systems(i didn't change the gpu thermal paste).
  16. Hi I’m new here, just signed up. I’m hoping I can get my Xbox fixed. the problem is my Xbox doesn’t turn on all the way when I have my component OR composite cables plugged in, it turns on, briefly shows orange, then shuts off but when I unplug the video and turn it on the Xbox seems fine? (But no video of course) I’ve looked at the model date and it’s a 1.6b. I have a picture of the clock capacitor and to me it seems fine though I’m kinda new to this sorta thing. Can my Xbox be fixed? Is there some other issue with it? (It IS softmodded with UnleashX installed) Thank you
  17. I'm not 100% sure where to put this, so I'll post it here. If it needs to be posted somewhere else, please let me know. I'm having this bizzare issue with Namco Museum (2001) where with some games, it will freeze upon, not entering, but exiting a game. This happens with Pole Position and Ms. Pacman. Not sure if it happens with Pac Attack or Pac Mania, I haven't unlocked those yet. For the affected games, it consistently freezes between pushing pause at the main menu of the loaded game, and after selecting exit from that pause menu. It locks the system to the point where it won't respond to the controller, but does allow for disc ejecting to the dashboard. The disc is a bit scratched, but it is in good condition, especially compared to my other games which have a LOT more damage than this copy, and have zero problems. My only idea as to what is going on here is those scratches somehow corrupted the protocol that the affected games use to exit to the main menu. Not sure if exiting mid game has the same effect. As I eluded to before, none of my other games have any issues loading or playing whatsoever. By that logic, I'm certain my disc drive works absolutely fine. It reads my other games and most of my CD's without any issues. Do you guys think I'm right in my assessment, or is there something else going on? I have filmed this issue and I will post it to my YouTube channel on about four days from this post, if all goes well. I will link it somehow if there's enough interest.
  18. when i try to load burnout 3, it comes up with a blue loading bar and freezes when the bar fills. it locks up my whole xbox and i have to power cycle it, L R start and select won't even reset it. the system is hard modded and the game is installed on the hdd. any idea what's going on?
  19. so im working with an old 2.6 modded OG xbox, this one has some very good history and means alot to me, and was given to me by the owner of "gamer transit authority", initially we thought this wasnt the "gamer bus unit" but after cracking it open and checking some things ..IT IS!!! anyway im trying to breath life back into the unit it has some startup issues that ive seemingly mostly resolved, im trying to clone and backup the drive so i can toss a 2tb unit in and be done for life with it so heres the issue..im getting "bad block sector on hda(master) from logical block 316 though 338 on drive E: everything else clones over just fine, and i get a error 13 on bootup yes im on the 80 wire yes ive tryed multiple drives both IDE and sata yes ive googled for weeks my best guess is that due to the logical block issues pointing at a corruption of the original drive that i need to "replace" some of E:drives contents, what im looking for is any information on how to do that WITHOUT wiping out the history thats in this box, id like to just "patch" what i can....im just not sure of the best way to do it....im leaning tward FTP cloning out E drive if thats even possible since the new drive wont boot... looking for any help possible, even if it means building the new drive from scratch...tho i consider that a "last resort"
  20. i'm not well versed on how to interpret the readings on capacitors but my understanding is that the uf should go down as the cap is wearing out. i pulled a couple of 3300uf caps off of a board and they are both reading over 8000uf in my esr meter. i tried some new caps to be certain that the meter is reading correctly and it is. why would the uf go up on an old cap?
  21. i, like many others, started having problems with my xbox after replacing the thermal paste. graphics glitching, freezing, frag'ing, and sometimes it would just go into a coma on me. it appears that the problem is that some of the solvent for cleaning the thermal paste gets underneath the gpu chip and causes a short. 1st off, i do not recommend replacing the thermal paste on these consoles but if u already have and are now having problems then here is how to fix it. get a bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol with a squirt top on it(i suggest a quart bottle), hold the motherboard on it's side, and squirt the alcohol all over it. be certain that plenty is going under the gpu. next, take a hair dryer and dry the board very well. be careful not to get it too hot. a good rule of thumb is that if any part of the board is uncomfortable to lay your hand on and keep it there, then it is too hot and should be allowed to cool. next, sit the board in the xbox, hook up the psu, connect a tv and power on the system a few times to be certain that it appears to be working before full reassembly. BE CERTAIN TO REAPPLY THERMAL PASTE AND HEATSINKS BEFORE POWERING ON! i'm not certain that it will overheat the chips without the heatsinks for a quick test but it isn't worth the risk. this fixed my xbox that i was concerned i had forever killed.
  22. Hi all! I need some help with switching out the hard drive in my XBOX. I've been battling with it for some time, so I decided to get some help. My XBOX version is 1.1. I currently have it softmodded with Rocky5's softmod. Originally, I had gotten a 1TB SATA drive for my XBOX (WD10EZEX-22MFCAO, which seemed like a good choice, since many other WD10EZEX drives seemed to work for others in the hard drive compatibility chart). Along with it, I got a SATA to IDE adapter, an 80-wire IDE cable, and the molex power splitter. When I first attempted to configure the drive, the exposed contacts from the back of the SATA to IDE adapter (where the power connects in) touched the back of the hard drive when I was hot swapping the IDE cable. There was a spark (I didn't think to cover the connection), and since CHIMP would never load, I assumed I had fried the drive. I ordered another one, and it wouldn't work either, so I realized it was a compatibility issue. After this, I decided to switch to a smaller, cheaper IDE drive (this Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 hard drive) that a friend said he had gotten to work before. I ordered it and attempted to configure it (using the original 40 wire IDE cable and no SATA to IDE adapter of course), and while I was able to launch CHIMP, it errors out part way through the process. Here's what I've been doing: Install CHIMP to E:/Apps, and place linuxboot.cfg into my E: drive Open the XBOX. Unplug the molex cable from the original hard drive and connect the splitter to it, one end of which I connect back to the original hard drive Place the new hard drive on top of my DVD drive (with the antistatic bag the drive came in between them) Check the mode of my new hard drive. I have tried it both with the jumper in the Cable Select Enabled position, and in Slave mode (no jumper) Launch the XBOX and wait 5 minutes for the DVD drive to go to sleep Swap the IDE cable from the DVD drive to the slave drive (within 5 seconds) Go to my applications list and launch CHIMP On the first menu button prompt, I press A to confirm that the slave drive is connected CHIMP begins to run its processes. After loading for a bit, it gets stuck on a screen saying that it can't allocate resources, with a picture of the Linux penguin in the top right I'm assuming that since CHIMP can actually boot up with this drive, that the problem might not be the drive itself, though I could be wrong (with the previous WD10EZEX drives, my XBOX would just completely freeze up when I booted CHIMP). I've tested my XBOX with just the existing hard drive installed, and that has no problems, as I'm able to play games fine and navigate through the dashboard just fine. I'm not entirely sure where my problem could be coming from, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
  23. So I finally ordered two complete OGX360 sets, one for each of my OG Xbox consoles. When looking for the usb wireless adapter (the only thing the kit doesn't come with besides a controller), they are freaking expensive. I can't find the OEM Microsoft accessories for less than $40 each refurbished. There are plenty of generic ones, but considering how hit or miss the aftermarket wired controllers are for the OG Xbox, I am apprehensive to buy non OEM accessories. Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket 360 wireless adapters that can shed some light on whether they work as they are supposed to with the OGX360? Does anyone know if the below linked adapter will work? https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Renewed-one/dp/B07JKKKTWQ/ref=pd_sbs_63_6/131-1984250-1160567?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07JKKKTWQ&pd_rd_r=e5efc1ff-244a-4d37-9bd6-bce71e6094f4&pd_rd_w=xrcz6&pd_rd_wg=Y7DqX&pf_rd_p=bdc67ba8-ab69-42ee-b8d8-8f5336b36a83&pf_rd_r=WDHYWXS24CWQ98YEDBH8&psc=1&refRID=WDHYWXS24CWQ98YEDBH8
