It was listed as faulty, that it hangs on the Xbox logo. After sitting thinking I wonder will it error, my brother said Microsoft appeared on the screen. Apparently it seems to work, it just takes ages to boot, and the problem seems to be with the disc drive itself. There's no signs of leakage from the clock cap either, so I should remove that before it goes. It's apparently another v1.1, and I plan to tsop it also. The main thing I need to do for now is give it a good cleaning and softmod it to get the eeprom. I don't trust the HDD because the spindle is whirring really loudly, so the eeprom is a priority, as is the clock cap. After changing the drive for a Thomson out of another console, it boots up normally. There must be something wrong with the actual PCB in the Samsung I got with it.

I would like to store my ISOs and ROMs on an external USB disk utilizing a cable plugged into the controller port on the Xbox. Is this possible? Furthermore, which disks are recommended, and which bios/build would be best for this?

Okay I'm looking for tutorial to make my own custom skins for my dashboard Has anyone got one what tools do I need

So a member of the group was asking for a Dport to dport wire he was asking other members if they had one available because he had one of those LCD screens that go on top of the Xbox and use a proprietary wire that connects from the Xbox to the intec inc screen.. I told him it was easy enough to make that it was just a few wires he could not be bothered. This got me thinking maybe I should make an easy-to-follow schematic for this. I did not do any YouTube searches or Google searches. I clearly went off my HDMI schematic and figured out the rest for myself. There was an image going around that shows the dport but it is backwards it shows the front view so in this image you will see that it's been deciphered so it's easier to follow well soldering. I did make one of these wires and had great success I used all brand new hardware that I purchased a little while ago. It is working great very basic wiring. I'm pretty sure this LCD does not provide video over 480i I think that's pretty much the max resolution I could be wrong on that this wire is designed to Output in 480i or your typical composite video signal. This pinout / schematic can potentially save a lot of money. I have not seen one of those wires alone on eBay it always comes with the screen so if somebody is looking for that wire it could be very costly pretty much what they want to pay for it. Not only that the same schematic can apply to somebody who has an RCA entertainment series Xbox Ready TV which has the proprietary dport input. In order to make this wire you can follow the diagrams exactly. Just make sure you add a few extra feet to the length in between. I know I bought one off Amazon and I think it cost me around 35 with shipping. This wire can be easily made from 2 $5 RCA wires. The schematic itself was made and designed by me maybe that's why it does not look the absolute greatest. I'm more of a Hands-On guy than the computer guy so I apologize but it looks pretty self-explanatory easy-to-follow what you do on one end you want to do on the other end. You should be fine the only concern is the jump wire pin 8 to pin 20... I have found if you only do one of the Xbox connections with this jump that connection has to be the one that's plugged into the Xbox itself. If you hook it up the other way around it will not display. So you can either remember to always plug that one in your Xbox or just make sure you jump both sides on both connectors. In order to not have to worry about that. In any event I hope somebody somewhere can benefit from this schematic took me a couple hours to wire up in a couple hours to make the schematic itself. But if it helps at least one person in the community save money than it was totally worth it 4 wire I just used regular RCA's. I'm guessing if you wanted the best kind of quality on this you can always use Xbox 360 shielded component cable wire since that is a high build grade for sure..for 5.1 audio out just tap into pin #3 ...thank you very much Frank

Does anybody out there know the spec of the pin headers needed for fitting modchips to the lpc port in an Xbox? I want to buy some spare pin headers mainly for connecting my eeprom reader but I also have a few chips with missing pin headers. Has anyone bought any and has a link to the correct size ones? So yes, like the title says, I need to buy/get/being given the Wireless Logitech controller for Xbox. I am dealing with many issues in my Xbox because of the analogue buttons and it is driving me crazy, I have heard the wireless controller by Logitech for the Xbox doesn NOT have analogue (press sensitive) buttons! And that is all I need. Of course I would buy one in good working condition (makes no sense buying a piece of plastic that doesn't work). I simply CANNOT buy one in my country, there is nothing of the sort here, not even chinese knock offs. And I cannot seem to find sellers on Ebay who send abroad (I live in Chile). So if anyone can sell and is willing to send, I will be the most happy gamer ever If someone want to give me one for free, well even better No, is ok, I just want to pay a fair price, not too high hopefully. I have a few x3 chips and purchased some of the cheaper 20x4 lcd panels to use and need to make some wiring harnesses for them. I can’t seem to find that style connector that was used on the chip. I’d like to at least have one end I can disconnect so the chip isn’t tied to the faceplate.

I picked up a particularly grotty and smelly xbox the other day - I bought it because I thought the case might be in mint condition underneath the layer of dirt and I was right. I washed the case with fairy liquid (dishwater detergent) and a microfibre cloth but although the plastic casing looks clean it isn't - I ran a baby wipe over a tiny section of the case and it was brown. Same result when I used a baby wipe on the inside of the case - brown residue inside the case as well. Is there any special paste I should make? Could I make a baking power and vinegar paste? The reason I'm reluctant to try these is I'm afraid I'll damage the case - any one any tips on how to get rid of the brown residue. Thanks in advance.

Okay, I don't have a ton of time but I just found a way to play games such as JSRF, Fable, and the others on a 1.6 console without disc swapping, requiring the original dash, anything. This, however requires a softmodded console with UnleashX (May work on other dashboards, I have not tested) The steps are as follows: Turn on your console and allow it to get to the dashboard. Select system, then settings. Go all the way to the bottom where Video Display is and select it. Turn off 480p and if not turned on, turn on 720p, and 1080i. Then, have fun and launch your game, I believe this actually forces it into 480i which is not accessible from unleashx. I found this out by playing with the settings, you sadly can't play in 480p, but hey, that's the price to pay, I'm just trying to give an option to you folks with UnleashX.
