Hi all, I'm new to the modded OG Xbox scene and this forum. I'm glad that a community like this exists! Thank you all in advance for any assistance you can provide with the following questions/issues. I just purchased from another individual a hard-modded OG Xbox v.1.6 using the Aladdin chip. He also installed a 1 TB drive, which seems to be working well. It's running XBMC. Onto the issuses: 1.) Whenever I hit LT + RT + Start + Back in order to return to XBMC, the Xbox shows the boot screen with en "EVO" symbol in the top-left portion of the screen. It hangs there for about 30 seconds; then, a 07 "Service Required" green-text screen appears. No matter in which game I try to return to the XBMC this error message appears after the loading screen. When I notified the seller of this issue, he said that he thinks it's something to do with the BIOS, but he isn't certain. Any advice of how to fix this problem? 2.) I knew when purchasing this Xbox that the DVD drive doesn't work. I'm not planning to play any physical discs, so this really isn't an issue except in the case of the HDD failing one day. Is it a good idea to make an image of my HDD on my PC? Could I use FTP to create the image using backup software, or should I actually remove the drive and connect it to the PC in order to do this? Or, is there another option I'm not considering to recover the Xbox if the HDD fails? 3.) I've tested launching several games from the Xbox's HDD, and they all work great with one exception: Jet Set Radio Future. Whenever I launch the game, it immediately starts presenting several distorted graphics on the screen. I can make out logos behind the distortion, so the game is technically running, but everything is messed up. I haven't tried re-loading the ROM, and I will try that tomorrow; but, I doubt that it's the ROM which is the problem here. Barring a corruption issue with the ROM, any idea what could be causing this? is JSRF known to cause issues with modded Xboxes or something? That should do it. Hi everyone, I'm new here. Long story short. I'm trying to install MakeMhz XboxHD+ Hdmi Mod to my Xbox with 1.6v motherboard and 2TB HDD. I'm stuck with BIOS patching. Patched BIOS gives coma Console issue. All I get is steady green light on Xbox and black screen. All patching was done following official MakeMhz guide with EvTool 1.0.9 and correct ips file. Unpatched BIOS works just fine. I'm using Evox M8+ 16 Bios with OpenXenium modchip. Can't figure out what I'm missing. Tried different Bios'es. Also tried Using my old Aladdin Chip with same result. After patch is applied and flashed, I'm getting coma console. Also EvTool 1.0.9 won't recognize patched BIOS, gives me Unsupported kernel error. BIOS that I've tried to use, MD5 Checksum matches (as per MakeMhz website). Any help would be much appreciated. As I've been trying to work it out for two weeks now.

Long story short While modifying my Xbox, I accidentally shorted out the 5 volt rail. Now the thing doesn't turn on. I'm wondering what exactly I killed on the power supply. I checked the fuse near the 120Vinput and it appears to have continuity. I notice basically right next to the wires for 5v there appears to be a regulator or a mosfet. Perhaps it just needs a new mosfet? The short only occurred for less than a second. Personally I find it kindof rediculous how it killed it so quickly but nonetheless. Needs fixing now. Also on another note. I know this is a long shot, but could the power supply from an Xbox Revision 1.0 be rigged into a newer box. I see that the connector for the old Xbox is only 12 pin and the newer one is a 20 pin ATX. What crossed their minds to change over to the ATX power supply?

I want to adapt a PicoPSU to a 1.6 xbox. Just wondering if anyone has done the ATX adapting to a 1.6. If so how did you deal with the 5V always on? I think this may be advantageous since there probably wont be quite the inrush on power on for the 5V rail. I was thinking of either the following: 1.) Using a relay to switch between the 5VSB and the main 5V supply when switched on. 2.) Connecting the 5VSB and main 5V supply from the ATX supply. Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi. I am introducing myself in the forum. I am trying to bring to the life my xbox 1.6 with Tuscany power supply that looks dead, the xbox do not power on and doesn't do anything when try to power on. No measurement in the famous T2 transistor. There is no corrosion in my board and caps seems to be ok, so ... what is next to test? I would like to see the repairment guide but is not available for me at this point for newbie, so I ask you. Thank you all!

I just tried to power up a 1.6 crystal, and nada, so I checked the PSU, and there's nothing on the 3.3V standby. I CBA faultfinding, as the parts with shipping will likely cost as much as a PSU, so I need a PSU for a 1.6. .. does anybody have one? Cash (PayPal) or exchange for 1.0 - 1.1 PSU. Also need an OLED OpenXenium with daughterboard, if anyone has one. I'm in Ireland.

Hi awesome Ogxboxers, So I got another query here and I'm not sure if it has been answered already....so basically I got one of the first versions of the NEOYA X2VGA adapters (pic below) and have to say it works flawlessly on my 1.0 and 1.2 boxes. Image quality especially on a decent PC CRT monitor rivals that of the Dreamcast VGA box. But when I try it out on my 1.6 I get a purple tint on the whole image. I've played around with the dip switches on the adapter and the issue persists. So my question is has this ever been resolved possibly by flashing a specific BIOS to the modchip? Or did 1.6 owners who also bought one of these awesome adapters had to live with it for the last 15 years or so?

I've 3 xbox with the soldering pads are destroyed there is just the hole...so there is a chance to solder the leg of the caps to another place? Thanks...

I messed up. Was fiddling around with configmagic trying to lock the HDD on my chipped Xbox 1.6 so I can transfer and use the HDD on my softmodded Xbox. I followed this guide here: https://www.biline.ca/xbox_uxe_hd2.htm I was able to update the EEPROM as stated and locked the HDD so it can be used on the softmodded Xbox. That worked fine. But now my chipped Xbox turns on but no picture or video whatsoever. I don't know what to do next...

Ok so I have two v1.6 consoles, both had LPC rebuild and an Xblast modchip installed with LFRAME cut. Both boot fine from my chosen bios in Xblast The issue I have is I cannot get either of them to boot a dvd, either an original game or Hexen,OGXboot2021,Slayers. I know the disks are all fine as they boot in other consoles. I know the dvd drives are fine as I have rebuilt them all and they work fine in other consoles too, tried changing IDE cables and sata adapters this has no effect, so that leads me to think its the actual modchip that is stopping disk being read, no-dvd and standard bios's give the same results too. My next step is to reconnect LFRAME and boot from onboard and see if disk's will boot. Anyone come across this before or have any ideas? Thanks

I was given a 1.6 for free, soft modded it no problem - tried to put a shortcut in C to tell it to boot into XBMC4Gamers which I had installed in E: and something went wrong. Wouldn't boot into XBMC or the dashboard any more. No problem I think, I'll connected to FATXplorer on my PC. No dice - the drive is locked. So I boot up the xbox and try to hotswap it to a IDE/USB adapter to try and fix the bad dashboard, manage to get xboxhdm23usb to detect it, but it still said it was locked. Assumed i hadn't been quick enough with the hotswap. Try again and end up damaging one of the HDD pins (thank you whoever made this shitty adapter for putting it in a plastic housing and making it impossible to insert drives quickly). So now the xbox won't boot, the drive is locked, as well as damaged. Easier to just harvest it for spares now? It's a shame as it's a really clean 1.6 (that was the other thing, the next step would've been to TSOP it and boot into Hexen, but I haven't got a chip lying around and wouldn't trust my soldering skills anyway). Any thoughts on fixing this? P.S I tried to use Halo 2 to update the dashboard and fix it but it was already on the latest dashboard so it didn't work.

Not sure what happened but on startup the screen froze on the boot menu with evo x insignia. now It tries to start twice and either dies or flashes red green with no screen output. Machine is hardmod with alldin xt plus chip using lpc board ver 1.6 stock hd Is this a dead hd or something else? I thought it was a bad dvd drive ( sometimes it wouldn't eject) but am not sure. I was planning on a 2Tb upgrade but was enjoying learning FTP into xbox of games I wanted to play first knowing I was going to need more space. I hope I don't have to start from scratch .

Hello everyone, my name is Vitalij and I am from latvia ! I have two xbox v1.1 and v1.6 in 1.1 dump of something (red-green light), but fully working power supply and 1.6 working, but the mosfet burned out in the power supply. Is it possible to make a 1.1 to 1.6 PSU, can there be a complete manual or something? I found a guide showing how to make from 1.1 to 1.2-1.5, but as I understand it, this does not work for me. Could you please help with this? Then I saw the topic

I have a crystal xbox with a aladin Live chip. i modded it very long time ago now i want to give it to my kid and updated everything then flashed the bios before i know it it wont start up anymore. i have eeprom and the hd is 250gb. I have no old computer to prepare a new hd. I have a other modded xbox with a aladin xt (not plus) but i dont know the what diffrent. I have 4 xboxes 2 without working DVD drives, i bought them when they came out. (Softmodded) Can i prepare a new hd in a other xbox. i was trying to put bios chip from one modchip to another that did not work , dont know why bothe had evo x on them before. Crystal xbox i try to repair is my first xbox so i really want to fix it. i have a backup of all the files on de hdd. Please anybody have option to fix this. i live in the netherlands.

I recently bought a Xbox Crystal edition with 1.6 revision board. I’m told the HDD has been upgraded to a 7200RPM 160gb seagate drive and it has an aladdin XT mod chip. It worked fairly well for a couple of days, crashing once or twice and showing error code 07 or 21 a couple of times. I have some tolerance for this kind of thing from old hardware. This morning, however, it was a nightmare to get working. Error codes 07 and 21 came up (mainly 07). It booted up a couple of times operating very slowly and not recognising the HDD. The times I have got it working, games have crashed after about 20 minutes claiming that the disc is damaged even though running from HDD. Any ideas!?!

So I got a Halo Edition Xbox off of ebay to find that it only stays on for 20 minutes before shutting off, the power button does not function, naturally I thought of corrosion on the traces. Upon examining the underside of the board I found no visible corrosion, my question is, which traces do I need to jump in order to fix it? I'm a bit stumped, any help would be much appreciated.

Hey guys, I've got a 1.6 Xbox that only spins the fan when I hold the power button. As soon as let off the power button, the fan stops. There's no video, and the xbox's eject light does not light up at all. The xbox last worked a few days ago. I unplugged it and when I plugged it back in, the above started. I've checked the motherboard and the power supply and there are no obvious burn marks or blown capacitors. I also checked the transistor next to the clock capacitor and it showed 3.25V when the power supply is plugged in. My one area of concern are the five 3300 uF capacitors next to the power supply connection on the motherboard. The tops look a tiny bit bulged. See the attached pics. Any suggestions on further troubleshooting steps? Should the five caps be replaced? Thanks for your help.

Xbox turn on by itself after plugging to power mains. It is modded with alladin chip oldskool original. Tried different power supply, same thing, i had disconnected power button, controller ports, still, problem remains. Board looks clean. What could be causing such thing? Thanks.

Hey there, I have a chipped 1.6 and I'm using it on my LG 4K TV via component cable, I'm experiencing image drop out (see the video below). I've tried 3 different sets of cables, I've changed the Xbox to NTSC to enable HD video mode. Is there anything you people can recommend for me to try? I'm willing to try anything just so I can get this issue resolved. Thanks! Video link:

Attempting a OpenXenium 1.6 mod and there appears to be an issue with the LPC board. I had it all completed and OpenXenium screen came up but after about 1-2 minutes (sometimes less) the fan will speed up, orange light flashes and Xbox powers down which appears to be either a overheating issue or there maybe some solder splatter I cannot see. I'm more than likely going to remove the board and wire it instead, or at least this is what I would like to do. Is there a diagram out there that shows where the header pins should be wired? I have looked and have not seen anything. I do have another board but would rather wire it if this is possible. Thank you!

SO when I turn it on, it starts and stops a few times before it finally gets going and then when it does I get no image or sound and the light just flashes red and green. At first I thought it was my IDE adapter on my new hard drive, but when I replaced the unnamed brand one with a startech it still did it. To be clear, my xbox DOES work if I keep fucking with the power button and I can play games normally (Have not extensively tested to see if it randomly shuts off or anything after a long period of time. Anyone know what the problem could be?

What should I do now? I got a copy of truehexen 2019 and Hexen 2018 here, trying to figure out what I should do from here to make it look nicer and get the most out of this. The chip I used is an Aladdin XT+4032

Hey guys! I made a video guide on how to install / setup the OpenXenium modchip on a 1.6 OG xbox including an LPC rebuild installation. These chips are not much more than the Alladins prebuilt and significantly cheaper if you want to build one yourself. They're way more feature rich as well and support multiple bios' + LCD support. Hi Guys I'm getting this issue with my Enter the Matrix game(NTSC). I am using an NTSC-J 1.6 Xbox with an aladin mod chip running M8plus (EvoX). I tried ripping Enter the Matrix to the console and when I play it, I get a black screen with a couple green dots. I then tried to run it straight from the Disc and get the exact same error. I then put the game in my 1.4 softmodded pal xbox and the game loads just fine. Does anyone know why this is? I have attached an image of the blank screen with dots.

Hey guys, Due to the current situation in the world I have decided to finally install my mod chip. I do have a few questions regarding the install. I have read many guides and watched several videos on how to install these chip(aladdin xt plus2) and I rather not cut the trace on the motherboard. I found this video and I do like the idea of having the chip not light up while the xbox is off and not cutting the trace, Now that being said I know the internet is filled with people who find ways to do things differently but are not the right way to do them(I am not bad mouthing this gentleman) . Now my questions are 1- will installing the chip this way damage my xbox(short/Long term) 2-Is there any guides that you know of that are better(please link if possible) 3-is it possible to have the chip setup/installs so I can still boot into ms dash.(I read it is possible to set it up so a long power press will start the chip) I do not plan to use a lpc rebuild, I can just do it with wire.
