  1. So the plan is to create a device to control the following based on Xbox system status: 1.) Drive 1 RGB LED or 3 other LEDs (PWM for brightness control) 2.) Control any additional fans added into the xbox (1 with PWM control, 2 on/off) 3.) Addressable RGB LED strip control (WS2812B) Will be working an xbox app to configure the Arduino. From there you can configure the function of the pins; when the LED's change colors; temperature thresholds for fans etc. I would like to be also able to eventually pull from the SPI bus from an openxenium (I believe this would allow per game color change of LED's).
  2. Can't take credit........
  3. Proof of concept for a piece of hardware I am going to be developing..... Sending commands over the SMBus from an xbox application to an Arduino.... Hard to see; but each button press sends a "*" to the terminal.... (42 in decimal) video-1620663828.mp4
  4. So.... did you let out the magic blue smoke?????
  5. Power on through a transistor. Yeah, I was assuming the power on signal was expecting something high impedance of 1k or greater and couldn't drive the relay directly.
  6. That's why I was leaning towards the relay. Toss a capacitor across the output to handle any switching transients and call it a day.
  7. I want to adapt a PicoPSU to a 1.6 xbox. Just wondering if anyone has done the ATX adapting to a 1.6. If so how did you deal with the 5V always on? I think this may be advantageous since there probably wont be quite the inrush on power on for the 5V rail. I was thinking of either the following: 1.) Using a relay to switch between the 5VSB and the main 5V supply when switched on. 2.) Connecting the 5VSB and main 5V supply from the ATX supply. Anyone have any thoughts?
  8. I realize it will have no impact on speed; was responding to Acidmank's post.
  9. Yeah, I gotta do that. Also need to make a new cable as I realized I cut the wrong end. At least it's just extra pins on the motherboard side. The yellow cable is for power. Hacked up the DVD drive connector rather than run the molex across the board. I am using it as the main drive in the box. Doesn't seem any slower; haven't used it much yet though.
  10. With the eventual goal of creating a very slimmed down xbox I took one of the cheap SD to IDE adapters and modified it into this. Desoldered the existing male header; soldered a female header onto the back for a direct motherboard connection. Soldered the power connection to the DVD header to keep wires from running across the board. Unfortunately this meant the openxenium install was to tall; so that got a direct solder to the motherboard.
  11. Can I possibly get that too? Would really appreciate it.
  12. Yes, it is my understanding that the nvidia gpu has the ability to scale its output. The XboxHDMI/XboxHD+ will not do scaling on the board itself; the HDMI encoder on the board doesn't support that.
  13. So I think I have the cooling for the GPU and the CPU figured out. Its just venting the hot air out of the case that I was trying to find a solution to.
  14. Ahh. Thats exactly what I was looking for. I like the way it looks. I originally was going to do a custom printed case; ditch the controller ports and do the ogx360 internal.... but I was starting to think it would lose its original xbox feel. Slimming down the existing case keeps the look but so much cleaner. Do you know if anyone has posted anything about what they did for thermal management? I was thinking a PC slot fan to exhaust hot air.
  15. So I just slimmed my first xbox. I like it; but it leaves me wondering how slim can I go? I got a couple GPU fan/heatsinks for the GPU/CPU. I plan on doing a custom PSU with a pico atx PSU (that can supply 10A on the 5V rail) Will have to do something with the front buttons (not quite sure yet) Was thinking of cutting the case right down to where the controller ports mount (rather than the strip where the DVD drive would be). Has anyone done anything like this? I know people have put motherboards into custom cases; just wondering if anyone knows of a slimmed xbox beyond the norm that has been done? Thanks
