  1. If you are upgrading an already larger than stock hard drive and you are not sure if there's an XBPartitioner v1.3 partition table on the hard drive, run XBP Table Writer first to place one on the hard drive so cloning your current C, E, and extended partition 6, F drive, will work properly. XBP Table Writer is found in Chimp261812's github.com repository in the E Partition folder. The partition table is stored on the first sector of the hard drive. Its content looks something like the following image shows: (I really need to create a dark themed version.) Screech! Bright Light! Bright Light!
  2. When you say you cannot access it. What do you mean? You don't see it in the Games menu. Try using the File Explorer and browsing to the folder where it is stored. Select the file, default.xbe, then press A to start it. Does it run?
  3. Run XBPartioner v1.3 to verify that there is no ER printed next to the size of the G partition (extended partition 7). Post a screenshot of the app's main screen.
  4. After copying the Xbox Softmodding Tool saves to the hard drive, power cycle the console before running the game and loading the exploit game save. Otherwise, 99.99% of the time, you'll get a black screen and RED eject ring. After power cycling and trying again, it will work. Not exactly sure why it happens.
  5. Look for the kernel version number. What replacement dashboard is running? If UnleashX, press the Y button to pop-up the System Info page and look for the Kernel version line:
  6. If you still have the BT wire connected to the power button signal, try holding the power button for longer than a second to enable the modcihp. For Aladdin series modchips, a short tap of the power button turns on the Xbox; however, the modchip is disabled. If you've disconnected BT from the power button and strapped it to pin 2 of the quick solder area for always-on operation - a long or short press of the power button doesn't matter the modchip is enabled - the modchip may be dead.
  7. It might but I think you'll get a black screen when you enable the modchip using the long power button press.
  8. When you tap the power button to turn on the console, the modchip is disabled and boots the stock BIOS from the motherboard and runs the stock signed code MS dashboard. You cannot run a different unsigned code replacement dashboard when using the stock BIOS (unmodded, no softmod installed). However, you may be able to use the stock NTSC version 5960 Xbox dashboard. The long power button press enables the modchip and loads the modified BIOS flashed to it. Most of the modified BIOSes are preconfigured with the following boot order list: C:\evoxdash.xbe C:\nexGen.xbe C:\AvaLaunch.xbe C:\xboxdash.xbe ( if none of the replacement dashboards above are found, the stock MS dashboard executable.) There's more than one file that makes up the entire contents of the stock dashboard. There are hundreds of them in several folders. The file that the stock BIOS runs or even a modified BIOS loaded from a modchip if no replacement dashboard is found on the hard drive is xboxdash.xbe. Edit: You can make a slight change to the installation of the Aladdin modchip so it is always enabled. That way, a short or long button press of the power button will always load the BIOS from the modchip.
  9. IIRC, there needs to be an XBPartitioner partition table present on an already upgraded (larger than stock) hard drive. To write one to it, run the Xbox application XBP Table Writer before cloning your already larger than stock 8GB hard drive. This application is part of Chimp 261812's github.com repository found in the E Partition folder. Edit: Additionally, verify that the X3 BIOS is configured to use the partition table. For the steps to enable the X3 BIOS to use the partition table if present, see: https://imgur.com/a/wZOUOov
  10. No it's 15 plus being a member for a few days since you can post 15 messages in a day being a new member. Or you can support the site for $5 or $10/year for instant access. Look under the Store tab.
  11. The console will boot an original game disk without the softmod working. Doesn't require the dashboard on the hard drive to play a game. However, the hard drive does have to be present for the data caching and saves it uses. AID or HeXEn will not boot without an operational softmod or hard mod. Try booting a HeXEn 2018 installer disc. More than likely it will not load.
  12. The information here doesn't look correct. Xecuter2 4976.02 BIOS's kernel version number should be: 1.00.4976.02 EvoX M8 or M8+ BIOS has the same kernel version at the latest Xbox v1.6 stock BIOS/kernel: 1.00.5838.01.
  13. Does the laser assembly move any when you power on the console?
  14. Does the laser light up? When you power on the console, view the laser assembly from the side through a smartphone's camera. You should be able to see if the laser turns on and off. WARNING: DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE LASER!
  15. Ditch the fan on a 1.0 by replacing the heatsink with one from a later model Xbox.
  16. Better wait to see which modchip is installed. You may be able to modify it so it is always enabled so a short or long power button press will boot modded. Most softmods and hardmods clash when both are installed resulting in a black screen when enabling the hardmod/modchip.
  17. Correct, only when powered on to boot the modified BIOS from the modchip which shows the EvoX logo is the console running in a mode that allows unsigned applications/disks to be run/loaded. Otherwise, the stock BIOS is booting which prevents backups from being read or homebrew apps (unsigned code) from being executed.
  18. Both are old 1st-generation 29-wire mods. The PCB with chips on it looks like an Enigmah-X modchip (however, the Enigmah modchips I've seen pictures of only have 1 chip not 2) and the EPROM installed is a method to boot a modified BIOS from it instead of the onboard TSOP. Not sure why both are installed. Only one of the other is needed. I suspect the EPROM is the one that is enabled. Much easier methods to mod the Xbox are available. They should be removed and replaced with a newer modding method - either softmod or a better modchip with a newer modified BIOS version. Softmod: Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool Modchips: Aladdin XT plus 2 (XT 4032) or OpenXenium. What BIOS/kernel version running?
  19. Post a couple of pictures of the dashboard that runs when you power on the console with a short tap of the power button and another with a greater than 1 second press. Does one method have an Evox shield in the upper left-hand corner of the startup animation? If the dashboards look the same, no replacement dashboard has been installed.
  20. Slayers EvoX Auto Installer 2.7 Download
  21. The hard drive does not have to be locked / lockable.
  22. You've probably already mentioned it but which hard drive type: IDE or SATA? If SATA, which IDE-to-SATA adapter are you using? Also, are you still using the stock IDE cable or have you swapped it out for a high-speed 80-wire 40-pin IDE cable?
  23. True. On a v1.0 motherboard, you have to remove the solder from the LPC holes to install the pin header. Carefully use solder wick if used improperly you can easily damage traces on the motherboard or solder sucker (desoldering tool) or desoldering station.
  24. For a v1.6 motherboard, I don't see why he removes all 4 of those pins. I think only 2 need to be removed - pin 4 and 6. Maybe pin 3 too which is LFRAME#. I see no reason to remove the second ground at pin 12.
