  1. you need windows xp or older, like I said in my earlier post I spent hours trying to flash it using vista in compatibility mode with no joy. I had no problem from the xp desktop I was given this year.
  2. At least the composite is working, are you sure you don’t have a component outlet? On one of my TVs you have to go into settings and chose between composite and component.
  3. You don’t need a 1mb bios on a chip to test the mb, your mb has a 1 mb bios but you would not be using that if you install a chip.
  4. Hi, you can use either of the chips to test the mb you would just not be using the mb bios. If the Xbox boots up using the chip but not the onboard bios you will know that that is the issue.
  5. Hi and welcome. It definitely sounds like a tv issue, I would check your settings on the tv to see if you can find a combo that works. Do you have a composite cable you could try to see if you can get that to work?
  6. Depending on your bios the fan should be running at 20%. Check the voltage output at the fan connections, if you don’t a multi-meter try upping the fan speed in your dash.
  7. Welcome, here’s a thread regarding the download requirements.
  8. Hi, if you use Xboxhdm 2.3 you don’t need to burn a disk, here’s a link to a video using 2.3. https://youtu.be/y_n8kEQfgdE
  9. There are a few threads on the site discussing temps and thermal paste. the Xbox will cut out at 72c so if it is doing this I would change the thermal paste and up the bios fan speed, they are normally set at 20%. Depending on which dash you use you will get different temps, somewhere between 40c and 60c is good. the dash fan speed will stop being relevant once you start a game.
  10. Well your chip is fine, it sounds like your hdd and possibly your dvd drive. Have you tried running a retail disk?
  11. Then try swapping the ide cable.
  12. You could use some white masking tape to knock them back a bit or get some neutral density gel. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160730139041 0.6 nd is the equivalent of 2 stops on a camera or 8 x less light on a lux reading.
  13. Have you tried dropping one of your other unlocked hdds in?
  14. Have tried booting with an install disk in the dvd drive?
  15. Was the Xbox fragging before you started, I would have thought the frag will be to do with the lpc rebuild? You just need an electronics supplier for replacement caps, it depends where in the world you are, online there's Digikey, farnell, cpc farnell and a load more.
  16. Can’t see anything obvious, why is the solder missing and disturbed on 15 & 16?
  17. Make sure you are using ntsc video with 480, 720 and widescreen ticked in m$ dash. Then check your tv’s settings, I had a bush set to 16.9 but had to alter the settings to get it to view games in widescreens.
  18. Check for solder splashes and bridges, post a pic of the lpc area.
  19. If you haven’t got anything you need to save you can use this video to rebuild your hdd using your eeprom using xboxhdm. You can also use xboxhdm just to unlock the drive and then backup any files to your pc using fatxplorer.
  20. Do you have a copy of your eeprom/hdd key backed up?
  21. Did you have a soft mod before you installed the Aladdin? are you booting with hexen already in the dvd drive, this should load hexen before the Aladdin looks for evoxdash.xbe on C.
  22. Don’t bother with ssds for speed as you will not get the benefit, they are a good idea if you plan on making an ultra slim because of the size. plenty of xeniums available due to the open source version, x3s come up for sale on eBay regularly.
  23. If you can load hexen use the file explorer option to check you have evoxdash.xbe on C. You could always install unleashx as your dash and that should at least get you up and running. Just don’t reformat anything or you will lose all your games.
