  1. So it was due to me soldering and removing the pin header. Some solder stayed in the holes and it looked very clean so I just left it there. But it was working when I had the pin header in there without and chip. Thanks for looking though!
  2. Here we are:
  3. And...... now the 1.2 is DEAD........... OMG I am this close to just throwing all these xbox's in the trash..... So I was trying to find a combination of 2.6's that would work. You know, swapping the leads, the chips, the on/off daughterboard and somehow... somehow, it fried the 1.2.. I desoldered everything, and removed the chip. Now the regular 1.2 which was working perfectly fine just boots to blinking green lights, reboots then frags... uggggggggggggggggg
  4. So I got the caps in the repaired the 1.2. New caps fixed it right up and it seems to be working perfectly fine! But yeah, no combo of these dang chips and switches gets it to do anything. With the chip enabled or disabled, it just boots into the regular xbox dash. When the chip is set to "enable", it glows blue so I know its getting some power but literally nothing... I think they are both dead.....maybe why they were not installed into xbox's..... Looks like the best thing to do is TSOP it at this point... gonna try that now... I could try desoldering the 2.6 lite and do a hot swap flash but my problem is I have only these parts in this image. The d0 grey wire is part of the leads so not sure how I would get a d0 if I am using the pin header instead of the direct wire solders.
  5. Ok answered my own question and it worked GREAT!! Got the (executer rocks my box image now :)) So with that box we learned: If you have a flashing red light on a retail untouched xbox, the base BIOS is somehow corrupt but a modchip will fix it. I even did a recent test and disabled the chip with a jumper and it STILL booted to the flashing red lights. Only way to get it to work is with the chip. So that xbox is saved!! On to the final xbox. The 1.2 with the blown caps. I have the caps arriving any day now and hope that maybe I can use these 2.6's in it. Dave, you mentioned hotswapping but like I mentioned before, because the xbox above was a 1.1, I was able to just solder to leads to the board because the solder holes were filled so it made it a very easy solder job. Anyway to do a hotswap or would I have needed the posts to do it? Thanks!
  6. Ok so this is the one I can use to flash the executer lite I have correct? Pop this on c or f BIOS and run a flasher program correct? Will that one also work on the 2.6 as well? Thanks Dave you rock! I just want to make sure I can directly flash this BIOS onto it without bricking the chip or having to do any prep work or anything to the bin file. (like I am reading it has 2X 512 instead of a single 1mb .bin on your link) This one ready to go? Thanks!!!!!!!!! Also, sorry for another question but is this BIOS file included with the HExxen disk? Can I flash from the disk or should I do it from the HDD apps with the file you provided. Thanks again Dave!!
  7. Ok, currently trying to find that BIOS file but having no luck haha. The search continues! SOooooo actually I didnt use the pin header on the 1.0 because the solder holes are filled so I just direct soldered it Was easier than removing the solder.
  8. Awesome! Few more questions if you dont mind. Ok so I pulled the HDD out of the original and it has an old evox dash on it. Also has a flashing program so Ill try that first. Are those BIOS's the right size for the xecuter 2 lite? Just flash and go? Also the Executer lite and the executer 2.6 have different color wires for soldering so are they hot swapable even? THanks!
  9. Ok SS_Dave some BIG updates here! I re-soldered the chip multiple times, triple checked all points and even swapped between the 2 (remember I have 2x 2.6 chips that I found from my old college stuff) NOTHING would boot. Just flubbers, then right to flashing red. So what I did was take the X-ecuter 2 Lite from the other 1.0 system that had the solder blob on the ram I could not fix and BAM!!!!!!! Fired right up! So it seems that maybe those 2X xecuter 2.6 chips were BAD! Maybe that's why I didnt install them into xbox's....who knows I dont remember college was a crazy time haha So here are my questions and what I got! 1.6 crystal with aladdin chip working GREAT! 1.1 Xbox with the X-ecuter 2 lite - WHAT BIOS CAN I UPDATE THE CHIP TO. TO SUPPORT F/G BIGGER HDD? 1.2 Xbox clean working - Can I buy an Aladdin chip for it? I know I would not need to rebuild the LPC like I did for the 1.6 so could be a much easier install right? (or TSOP flash would be best maybe? Thanks for all the help thus far!!
  10. Yup! One of the first things I tested! Gonna try the regular D0 point today. See if that makes a difference.
  11. Ok checking now. Kaos, would a modchip fix that or no? Going to inspect further traces of the clock cap. What is also odd to me is how I still got the microsoft logo when that should have changed if I installed the chip correctly right? Investigating
  12. Correct. BEFORE the modchip. It would boot up and flash red while the HDD clicked very loudly. Thats why I figured it was the HDD but after I installed the chip the exact same thing happened. But I still saw the MS logo on boot so maybe the 2.6 chip is defective? Ill recheck all solder points but yeah, figured I could fix it with a chip and new HDD. How does the clock cap damage look?
  13. Ahh.. Ok so it might not have actually taken the chip.... It still says Microsoft under with the Chip in. It blinks red and white (well red and no color) So not red and green or red and orange. Literally just red flash, pause, red flash. I couldnt find that error code online at all
  14. Ok update on the first "used new xbox" It is a 1.0xbox with the GPU fan. It powers on but goes to the "your xbox needs service" screen with no error code. You can also hear the HDD clicking very loudly so I figured it was just a dead HDD. Soldered the 2.6 modchip on there and same thing. (the chip lights up but is there supposed to be a logo or something when it boots?) Same thing So I removed the clock cap and cleaned the area around it but there is some major damage. Any ideas? Is the xecutor 2.6 supposed to have some sort of boot logo screen during the xbox boot process like the alladdin chip did? I tried switching both banks and the chip lights up but goes right to the "xbox needs service" right after the boot process THanks!
  15. Makes sense SS_DAVE! So the 3 pin grey/green/red one is not needed? Yeah I agree, the HDD and the lan light would be very annoying on the front haha! But I thought the grey wire is need for the D0? Where would the D0 go? You said you ground it but what actual wire do you ground seeing as according to this diagram, the D0 wire is part of the 3 wire LED lead. Thanks!
