Questions and Other Stuff

Using latest versions of XBmc4gamers, have an issue with many of the movie previews playing choppy or slower than they should play.  I checked these particular movies with VLC and they play normally otherwise.  Other movies play normally under XBmc4gamers.  I'm using the resource packs found in another topic.  Many movies play okay while many others don't.  Is there a fix for this?

VLC on a PC doesn't play XMV files well.  The Xbox plays them without the stutter.

Are you previewing them on your PC as you mention VLC? (It always stutters on my old laptop - not a speedy machine.)

Are they stuttering on the Xbox?  Which particular preview videos do so?

The Amp 2 preview.xmv is an example of a media file that plays slow within Please login or register to see this link. on my Xbox v1.6 when I launch it from the Synopsis menu.  It plays normally in VLC.   I also have that Xbox Video Museum Skin installed and all the xmv files play normally in that app.  Normally I wouldn't consider this a big deal if it was just one xmv file that is troublesome but it seems to effect most xmv files in Please login or register to see this link. on my system using the xmv files in that resource pack.

Rocky5 you are the man(or woman)! I love XBMC4Gamers setup and interface.

2 questions:

1: Is there no way to view and select media files (Music and Video) in this interface? I have looked and cannot find any options that will let me. I know it is meant to focus on gaming, but i see that I can still cast to xbmc4gamers from my pc, so I figured I would ask.

2: Also, and more importantly, is the URLDownloader service down? I have noticed there are a bunch of mods and apps I would love to install and explore, but when I use the URLDownloader I get an Error saying "Script failed! : downloader.py"... :(
The downloader package downloaded and extracted properly, my internet connection should be ok.
I have updated to the newest version of your software and had no luck still. I cannot update the URLDownloader app through the xbox interface either, receiving the same message. My dash says I am running xbmc4gamers 1.2.(no number after the second decimal) and the latest update was on 12/24/2018. The downloader version says 1.0.15 on the dash...

Any help is greatly appreciated and I am grateful that you all are helping to keep this modding community alive!!!!!

I have a 1.0 Xbox that has the dreaded "Christmas Lights" flashing on the eject button. It tries to boot twice before doing its signature Red and Green flashing. Nothing is displayed on the TV so no codes are provided. It also makes a terrible noise when it fails to boot up. After tearing it down completely, cleaning everything top to bottom, removing the clock capacitor (which did not leak thank god), opening and inspecting the DVD drive then hooking everything back up I'm about 99% sure the condition and noise is being caused by a faulty HDD. My question is, assuming my diagnosis is correct, if I bought a SATA HDD (with the proper cables and converter) and installed an Aladdin XT Plus2 Modchip inside would it bring this Xbox back to life? Again, the theory is that the original HDD took a shat so I'm not worried about the DVD drive or motherboard. If there are any other steps I should take (EXCEPT softmodding and replacing the whole console) please let me know. If you require any other information I can also provide it for you. Thank you for your time and help on the matter!

Today I worked on taking apart controllers and cleaning them up.  I figured while I was at it I would go ahead and take apart and clean up my remote power button and USB adapter mod too.  I made this probably about 12 years ago.  I took an Xbox Live communicator apart and replaced the circuit board with a simple breadboard from Radio Shack.  I put a USB port where the volume knob used to be and a switch under the mute button.  I modded my Xbox with the yellow wire remote power button mod so I wired up the switch as the remote power button.  The nice thing about modding this communicator is that I can plug it into any controller and have a remote power button without modding the controller itself.  It is also great for softmodding systems by plugging a USB drive directly into the communicator instead of making a USB adapter cable that I would have to search for whenever I work on modding a system.

I am planning my first slim, with my newly acquired (and first) chipped Xbox. But I am not sure what chip it is, and what I should do. What bios to flash and so on, I have only worked with softmods before.

How ro run the Xbox without a dvd drive?
