sirGnano
Hey everyone, just dusted off my chipped OG unit and I'm looking to update the bios (if there are benefits?) and dashboard (looking for something that has nicer interface than my current). Fairly certain I have a 1.1 motherboard (followed this). I've attached some pictures of my dashboard info and modchip (Shows Executer2 below Xbox animation when booting). Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
prtscn
clock capacitor removed?
sirGnano
Just now, prtscn said: clock capacitor removed? No but it's on my list. Looks ok visually but plan on removing anyway. I found my modchip, Xodus Matrix. Still not sure what bios would be best. Matrix_ManualV1.1.pdf
KaosEngineer
The reason it says XECUTER2 below the big X at the end of the startup animation is because you have an Xecuter2 BIOS installed - an very old one at that 4977.01. Which BIOS to use really depends on what you want to do with the Xbox. There are many newer BIOSes that will work and allow for you to install up to a 2.2TB or with the latest NEW BIOS updates Titan patch for Evolution-X's M8plus BIOS and a completely new BIOS, CerBIOS (2.2.0 Beta release is v1.0-1.6 compatible), in 2022-2023 up to a 16TB hard drive can be installed. Evolution-X M8plus - v1.0-1.4 and v1.6 versions are available. IND-BIOS 5003 Shutdown+RAM Patched+XBL Enabled.zip (v1.0-1.4 only) New software to prepare a hard drive with your Windows PC - FATXplorer 3.0 Beta - currently free. XBMC updates - XBMC4Xbox Build 33032 and two new variants by Rocky5: XBMC4Gamers and XBMC-Emustation.

There are many other replacement dashboards available for the ogXbox: UnleashX v0.39.0528 Build 584 is another replacement dashboard many people use. XBMC variants are listed in my other post.
sirGnano
Thanks Kaos. Sounds like CerBIOS would be my choice as I would like to put a huge HD in. I'm guessing it's not on any of the current flasher discs. What's the best method for manually flashing?

Sweetdarkdestiny has a program called Xblast that is pretty much becoming the standard for flashing these days. You can even do it without soft modding first. Also, with the release of .CCI format and the already .CSO format, you can compress the entire Xbox library to fit onto less than 3TB. I know the .cci library is only 1.7TB. So really, the need for ridiculous size HDDs almost became obsolete as soon as they were relevant.

Now I just need to get XBMC4Gamers running (didn't look into that yet). Sounds like I will also need to look into the .cci library. No point in getting a huge drive if it's not necessary. Goto rocky5's git hub and download the prebuilt version of xbmc4gamers https://github.com/Rocky5/XBMC4Gamers then FTP the contents to the Zip file to E: drive. It should look like this E:xbmc4gamers\ In the Cerbios config file (cerbios.ini) that's on the C drive edit the dash path to look like this. ; Dash paths (always falls back to \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\xboxdash.xbe) DashPath1 = \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\xbmc4gamers\default.xbe ; evoxdash.xbe DashPath2 = \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\avalaunch.xbe DashPath3 = \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\nexgen.xbe Then on reboot it will load xbmc4gamers as the default dash. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
sirGnano
Exactly what I did last night. Working great. I pulled out my 2nd OG so I can clean it up and update it. This one has a Xenium chip and a module (anyone remember the name?) that allows the console to be powered on/off via the DVD remote.
MadMartigan
I want to say that is called a Xerc2 chip. You also have a solderless adapter that is connecting the Xenium chip.

There were a few such IR on/off mods. XIR was one. XERC2 and Team Xecuter made an add-on board to do so too.
