iVirtualZero
I am disappointed with the fan mods for the Original Xbox. I tried a 60mm Noctua Fan and then an 80MM Noctua, but no matter what i do. I cannot increase the speed of the fan. The fan just stays at the same speed settings even during gameplay. And was wondering if i can increase the speed of the Noctua since they are better, quieter fans capable of pushing out more air. I tried increasing the speed through the settings and through the config settings. But it still doesn’t make a difference. My Xbox has an Open Xenium modchip with Unleash X. Did i miss something? Do i need a special adapter? Edited November 30, 2021 by iVirtualZero
SS_Dave
Depending on the bios file your are using. With the X2-5035.67 and iND5004.67, iND5003.67 patched there is a config file on the HDD you can set the fan speed. With the EvoxM8+.67 bios you need to use EVTools on a PC to set the fan speed then flash the edited bios file to the modchip. In the Ind-bios.ini file that is on C drive root directory look for FANSPEED=10 ;Fan Speed 10-50 = 20-100% Default=10 In the X2config.ini file that's on E dive root directory look for ; speed of xbox fan, value 10 equals 20%, value 50 equals 100% fanSpeed = 10 With EVtools you set the fan speed in the box on the bottom left A lot of people are finding that the original fan is better at cooling the Xbox over a aftermarket one as long as it's clean. I set the fan speed to 30% in EVTools and I find that works fine the only time I can here the fan is when I am sitting right next to the Xbox and at a controller cord length I can't here it. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Which method to use depends upon which BIOS you are booting, if: X2 5035 - edit x2config.ini ind-bios 5003 or 5004 - edit ind-bios.cfg Evox M8 or M8+ - use EVTool v1.0.9 to create a new .bin file and reflash the modchip/TSOP with it.
