Nothing much i now took out the DVD-R disc and the softmodded Xbox booted fine.

BUT......

I changed my mind read some forums that Philips doesn't play nice with DVD-R on softmodded Xbox. And it ok now, but new problem is the system now creates a static sound in the dashboard, anyway to get rid of it?

Flashing orange with an increase of cooling fan speed is an caused by the System Management Controller (SMC) detecting an overheating condition.

However, replacement dashboards can be configured to change the eject ring color too.

With UnleashX go to:

System > Settings > System page

scroll down until you see the LED color section.

Are any of these items set to Flashing Orange?

^That is rubbish information.

Philips behave no differently whether soft or hard mod. They do seem to have a habit of failing completely and that causing boot problems more often than others.

Philips disc media compatibility is not that much different from Samsung 605F and unless there is a problem with the specific DVD drive DVD-R should be good for them just like it is with all other known DVD drive types.

DVD-R is the only universally Xbox friendly disc media. That has been proven time and time again with discs from a wide range of manufacturers not just brands.

Does it happen during a game? Maybe try unplug and put back the video connector as it may be slightly loose.

i have recently been playing xmen: legends on my hard modded xbox. this is the 1st time i have done this. i have played this game through many times and i have noticed a couple glitches that i have never seen before. this is the first time i have ever played it from the hdd on a hard modded xbox. this is also the 1st time i have ever played it through on a v1.4 xbox. most of the times in the past were on my v1.6 and once on a v1.0. both used the disc. so i'm not certain if it is that i am playing it for the 1st time from the hdd or that i'm playing from a v1.4 xbox for the 1st time. thoughts?

      Hi,
i Was lucky enough and get free Xbox Classic.
      Xbox was manufactured in 2003.
During the disassembly i found out that console got modchip, could you help me determine which one modchip is it (see attached)? I did some digging and probably the chip that is installed is Aladdin, and it should start after holding power button for about 1s, but nothing happens after that, just MS Bios starting.
I've checked if the wires are still soldered and they hold well. Also found out that there is a leak from capacitor - probably the what that is used to hold the clock. I found information that it can be removed.
Please share yours knowledge with me ;)
