Hi everyone, my IDE cable upgrade finally come after faffing about trying to get it to fit I get error 09, swapped back to stock IDE boots perfectly.  I've attached a screenshot of the cable I used and people in the reviews say it worked for them but I'm not sure there true as the IDE connectors seam the wrong way round.

Thanks all for your advice.

Which color ends did you connect to the motherboard and hard drive?

If you have the ends wrong, Cable Select will no longer work and you have to set the hard drive or IDE-to-SATA adapter as MASTER.

Black to mother board, grey to the DVD Rom which I had a twist 180 as the notch was the wrong way round and blue to the  HDD, that's the only way it would fit.  From left starting with black all the notches are on the left if it's lay flat looking at it. I haven't got my Sata adapter still waiting for delivery but I did just the the IDE upgrade in a old crystal xbox 15 years ago and it worked first time mate.

Yes, a standard PC cable doesn't fit with cable connectors as the locations they are meant to be installed at.  Blue is to be the host (motherboard), Grey - IDE SLAVE device (DVD) and Black - IDE MASTER device (Hard drive).

However, in the Xbox, the cable is flipped end-over-end so black connects to the motherboard and blue to the hard drive/IDE-to-SATA adapter. Doing so defeats the cable's built-in CABLE SELECT function; therefore, you have to set the hard drive to MASTER instead of Cable Select.

      Hello,
You can call me spoon! HA. As the Series XlS shake up the world with its’ release, I took it back and bought the OG. Xbox 2001-2004 for its nostalgic appearance and number of games that are not backwards compatible to this day. My question, what pieces of hardware and software program would allow me to upgrade my og. Xbox without jeopardizing it’s lifespan? I just want to upgrade the Xbox without having to download a ton of games that I don’t want into it.

Searched everything, can't find an answer, please help.
Can't download any DLC from XBMC4Gamers... it's starts to download and extract, after that it says "Getting EEPROM HDD Key" and after that I get an Error:
Damn something went wrong, Server or Local network issue.
      Or Something else ;/

      How to fix this?

So i tried to upgrade my 1.1 xbox to 128mb.
I installed the first chip successfully and xblastOS flashed to TSOP said "Success". Then i attempted to install second chip on bottom side, but xbox started fragging. I fixed up some shorts i found, but it still fragged. Then i measured according to datasheet, that power to RAM is shorted to ground. The shorted pins most likely were: 66 and 65. However it's possible, that i used the chip pinout wrongly and i measured short between VDD and VDDQ, which should be fine.
Even after fixing the shorts, it still fragged. After (destructively, but fortunately without ripping any trace) removing the both installed chips, it still does very weird frag. Basically the LED lights up only for short while and then turns off. Xbox's fan runs for a while and then it reboots. This gets repeated indefinitely, but rarely you get normal FRAG and xbox stays on. I measured 2.65V going to the VDDQ pin and the RAM power rail or any of the main power rails are NOT shorted now.
ANyone knows if i can fix it? All my other xboxes are either fragging (i have 1.0 i got fragging, but it might be TSOP issue as there are no signs of tracerot, no leaking caps and apparently TSOP might naturally degrade now, so i ordered modchip and will try to install it) or they are 1.6, which suck

Here is reference image how i installed one of the chips, that worked well (the first one). I guess it was pretty good: https://imgur.com/a/6DlSKuY. The residue is either flux or denaturated ethanol i used to clean it up.
