About Me

  1. i recently obtained a broken xbox and i'm having 2 weird problems with it. (not the weird part)1st off, the power supply had a bad solder joint that i fixed so now the system powers on. (weird parts) 1. there is no picture on the tv screen at all even though the the eject button light turns solid green telling me that it detects the a/v cable. it flashes green/orange when the a/v cable is unplugged. but there is absolutely no change on the tv screen. 2. the disk drive does not eject even though i can take the top off of the drive and see the spindle turn and the laser move reacting to me pressing the eject button. i know a stuck dvd drive tray isn't uncommon on these system but i have tried 2 different drives in it that eject fine in another xbox. the only change i have made to the mobo is that i removed the clock cap which appeared to not even have leaked onto the mobo yet(i did this before testing the xbox which i wish i wouldn't have). the system also has mild rust on the tray underneath the mobo which suggest it's had moisture in it(even the dvd laser has rust on the metal around the laser lens). btw, it's a version 1.0 xbox. any idea what the heck is wrong with it? thanks for any advice.
  2. My only controller died, and I've been in need of a replacement, but eBay's often awful shipping prices have made my choices limited in that I either spend on a "knockoff" that might be questionable in quality, or spend quite a bit more on an OGX360 kit. Would be looking for an original Xbox controller here to ship to Canada. I'll accept any of the colours, though Blue is the most preferred. Please contact with price offers. Thanks!
  3. Hi,have another xbox 1.4 no modchip no softmod no tsop flashing, DVD is Philips and HDD Seagate, when turn on the xbox red ring lithing any solutions? Desolder a clock capacitor.
  4. If no one had seen this yet, just yesterday Modern Vintage Gamer released a game called FreeFall 3050AD for the OG Xbox, which he helped finishing after 15 years being lost! The links to the game are in the Youtube video below! This is really wonderful
  5. Hi, bought the XBox 360 along time ago, not just for me but for my 2 new kids ... both boys. It was supplanted by a wonderful and powerful PC. But, now it is back on and the games still seem great. So, I have a new found desire to get the most out of this console. Glad I found this forum and hoping to learn from you all. Will contribute where I can. To start though - one of our discs is playing up and I just wondered what is the best approach apart from trying to polish the scratches out of the surface.??? My initial thoughts are to install a program to copy the disk to hdd. This should make it a little faster to load and more reliable for normal use. I see a progam called dvd2xbox was available but don't know if this is the best and only choice. Any advice will appreciated. Thanks to those who made this forum available and all members... Brett
  6. Hi people, i bought an softmoded OG Xbox a couple of months ago with an 80GB Ide hard drive. I wasn't able to use it because i needed to get an Voltage converter (v220 to v110, 300W) and i wasn't able to test it untill now. During that time i replaced the thermal paste following some tutorials and cleaned the upper case. Now that i have the converter the console won't turn on. It doesn't make any noise. I checked the capacitors and all of them seem to be alright (Flat on the top and no leaking) and i tried with a different power cable and nothing. Thanks for your time. Here are some pics of the console. https://imgur.com/a/3XkDNpe https://imgur.com/a/h9GBXQS
  7. Hi All, Thank you for creating a fine forum. I had the original xbox when it was new-ish, but I traded it and all my games to gamestop for 2 360 games. bum deal. Anyway, I have an xbox again along with many other consoles from my youth. The hdd sounds like it's from a 20 year old computer(which it kind of is) and the optical drive is on its way out. I'm glad to find these are taken care with relatively painless software type mods on the Xbox. I did the Rocky5 softmod and then I did the hexen disc to EvoX 8+, but I'm having two issues that don't seem common. 1. after the tsop flash, the .wav sound files have disappeared I can't seem to add them back with the hexen disc or the Rocky5 extras disc. 2. I'm having issues with ftp programs not liking the directory structure and I can't drill down or transfer, only just connect I have a 1.0 xbox and I flashed the 256kb version of evox. Can I redo all of this with a bigger version and just start over? I'm not sure what went wrong or which forum that can help with this.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm a new user, have xbox I don't know what version it is, modchip is Aladdin XT with bios M8plus, but a strange thing happens when I turn on the console by holding down the power button 2 seconds it turns on but when I start any game via the evox 3935 dashboard gets stuck on the loading screen, the chip appears to be deactivated....the power button turns green..after 5 seconds it is power on.

  10. Hello all... I've been researching this issue for over a week and can't find a solution so hoping you all can help. I bought this modded xbox about 15 years ago with the games already backed up on HDD. I've added a bunch of pics of the screens. 1- why is the default xecuter2 (or is it evoX?) main menu screen so ugly and inefficient? it takes up to 3 clicks to actually get to games. Could you point me to tutorials on how to customize this? 2- when i looked up tutorials on how to ftp and finally figured it out, it looks like i have folders (partitions??) C, E, and F with files loaded. E only has ~4GB capacity, and F has about 60GB. But I'm reading that actually F and G should have large capacities. Should G be able to hold games or files? Currently G is empty. 3- I've made 6 coasters so far trying to burn ISOs to play from the Disc drive. Nothing seems to be working because the xbox doesn't recognize the discs at all. Normal xbox discs and DVD movies play perfectly. Burned ISO images on DVD-R do not work. Any ideas?? I'm using ImgBurn and extract-XISO at 4x speed with DVD-Rs.
  11. Hey guys, I'm trying to find the problem of this Delta psu, it's a us 110v psu. I turn it on, and after some time the console turns off. If I try to turn it on again, it does, but it turns off in a shorter time. It goes like this until it doesn't turn on anymore. If I unplug it and wait some time, it goes back to working until it decides to turn off again. I've checked all caps and all seems to be in working condition. This psu has been repaired before by someone else before I got my hands on it, the fuse has been replaced and the old varistor left some black fumes around it. There isn't any visible damage on the components. Any tips? I just noticed I created the thread in the wrong section. Sorry about that
  12. Hi. I just took out my old crystal xbox with xecuter 3 chip, so I can show my kids how it was for me, and see what has changed in the game-scene Sadly I keep getting the 07 HDD error, so I am going to install a new drive. Just popped in here, so I can figure out how to do it
  13. Hi just got the xbox original running again. Forgot about TSOP and all that stuff. Will need to update and upgrade it to a larger HDD. Thanks and will look into it now on this nice forum!
  14. I accidentally nulled a stock Xbox - I forgot I had a 500gb drive locked to the original eeprom - I still have the original eeprom backed up - is there a way to: 1. To the original eeprom to the Xbox OR 2. Null the eeprom on the 500gb drive I have an ide pc and HDM v1.9 if that helps? thanks
  15. Hi all, I am new to the Xbox modding scene and I just finished bridging my 1.4 Xbox. Next step is to flash the bios but I wanted to run the Xbox Bios Checker, but can't seem to find a download site. Where can I find the latest version of Bios Checker? Thank you.
  16. Hi All! First time poster here. I pulled my old soft modded Xbox original out of storage a few weeks back because of the quarantine. Has been a lot of fun sharing all the old games and emulators with my son! Tonight he accidentally clicked on Xbox Live on one of the games and went thru the menu options. I caught it before he got too far i thought. No such luck! Now when i boot the Xbox and try to do the CD start (select song copy copy create new soundtrack) I get an error that too many soundtracks are created. I have tried the <<EggsBox>> trick and it does not work. It just relaunches the Xbox and keeps coming back with the same error. I have spent the past 3 hours reading every forum I could find on here and other sites and I can not find a solution. I created this thing at least 15 years ago and have not modded an Xbox sense. When i created it I remember using a method that included FTPing into my Xbox and transferring all of the files. No modchip.I do not remember the actual name of the mod i used back then. I have read a lot about re-soft modding the Xbox. I am wondering the following: 1. Is there any way for me to figure out what the original soft mod was without being able to get into the launch screen? 2. If i re-soft mod the Xbox will I lose all of the files/games I have on the Xbox? Any help would be much appreciated! I'm really trying to fix this thing because my son now thinks he is the reason this thing is broken and believes we'll never be able to get it back. I would love to prove to him that his dad still has it and can figure this out! Thank you all in advance!
  17. Hey everybody!! I hope you're having a fantastic day!!! I just opened up my XBOX V1.1 that, (18 years ago) I soldered a single core wire strand through from the back of the board to the top of the board. I cannot recall the specific tech that I was following from way way way back when, but I can't find any sort of photos online covering exactly what I was doing at the time!?? All I can remember from all of this memory delving is the phrase "If the bios is corrupted, then the TSOP will boot from backup", or something to that specific ilk. None of the TSOP bridging points are exacting the nature of what I did. The box was 100%%% operational to previous stock constraints, booting every time that I powered on, without a hitch, stutter or glitch, for about 4 years or so of operation. I did set the clock after each boot (which probably does mean that I still need to replace the clock capacitor), however I cannot see any specific electrolyte leakage on the board surrounding that capacitor, which is interesting. Anyway. I soldered to one specific junction on the back and taped the other end in place on the top - the tape has since disappeared along with the end of the wire that I was passing through the specific through port junction on the top of the board. I don't know where I was jumping the wire to. I can't find anyone doing this specific procedure concerning TSOP/General Repair at the current point? Is this an outmoded repair? Did people just stop doing this? What on earth was I doing? Anyway, the photos are attached, and I'm WILDLY interested to know what memories might be jogged from anyone's experience repairing the OG XBOX after seeing these photos.
  18. Are these mods for the original xbox still available for the 1.5ghz CPU/128mb ram upgrade been searching for a while to no avail over here in Australia. Any info would be greatly appreciated - Razor
  19. Is there a tool to achieve this? I'm upgrading the HDD in my Xbox, and after the initial formatting I would like to load it with data from another PC using a sata connection instead of transferring over the network. I understand the Xbox formatted drive is a format Windows does not natively like, but is there a tool or Linux equivalent so I can mount the drive outside of the Xbox? Thanks again,
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfbxuMgI4M&t=480sHello everyone! First post, and happy to be here. I want to share something that will add value to the community. I've put together a video tutorial on how you can install games directly to the XBOX HDD through the internet and FTP. All you'll need is your softmodded XBOX, an Ethernet cable, and the HDD Ready games you want on the HDD. You'll be up and running with it in no time. Full how-to video is below. Please let me know if this video helps you so that I can make XBOX content that makes your gaming experience more enjoyable. Thanks, Blaine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfbxuMgI4M&t=480s
  21. Hi, One of my console with a v1.4 motherboard (it have a golden clock capacitor that I don’t have removed) suddenly didn’t work. It worked fine but now It have a solid Green light (no frag) with no eject dvd drive, no video and no sound. I’ve tried with 2 différent AV câbles that works fine on my others consoles. Is someone have any issue please ? This console have never been hardmodded, only softmodded.
  22. I took a 1.6 board I have laying around and decided to do a speed-mod. I paid no attention to quality of solder joints, length of wires, or anything else that a more experienced technician might look at. I did it as quickly and as shoddy as I could, so I could show results similar to what the average Joe may expect. I'm not trying to talk it down. THIS WORKS, and that is what matters and that's what this guide is for. 1. Insert the pinheader. Hold it with one finger against the board and flip it over. Solder 1 pin on the bottom side in place. Make sure your finger is not touching this pin on the other side. Let it cool, and then look to solder the opposite corner (diagonally). Don't let your finger touch that pin this time, and solder it in place. Now you can stop pressing on the opposite side with your finger, and just solder all of the rest of the pins in place. (A MUCH better way than using your finger, is to add a drop of super glue between the plastic holding the pins, and the board. Don't let it touch the metal or it will cook away in a very eye-irritating vapor.) 2. Now we're going to attach the wires to rebuild the lpc. On the top is the guide you should use. On the bottom is the demo job I did, and yours should look similar or better. You'll notice on the bottom picture, the LFrame/D0 wire is soldered to a pad you don't see anywhere else. The guide tells you to solder it to the chip, and the chip has a pad for it. That's not necessary. Just solder it to the pad I show you. That pad is ground, and grounding LFrame/D0 causes the Xbox to boot from LPC instead of the onboard rom. Doing this allows you to take the chip off at will for hotswapping/flashing other chips. (The dark colorations in the bottom pic are not burns. I use rosin-core solder. I usually clean it off to look nicer, but in this case I was trying to demonstrate a real-world normal job someone might do.) 3. Now it's time to get the Aladdin ready to go in. It has features built in for xbox live, which no longer exists for the original Xbox... so we need to defeat those features. Solder the BT pad on the Aladdin to the pad shown. This will enable the chip as soon as power is pressed. 4. Now you're ready to fit your chip and test it out. It mounts on the pinheader like this:
  23. Hi Everyone, So I've recently picked up a 1.0 Xbox. The outer shell is intact but doesn't have a certain luster to it. It looks really dull. I wanted to know, has anyone tried to restore the luster of the Xbox. My Xbox is simply an original black colored Xbox. I'm trying to avoid spray painting it and was think of using some sort of restoration paste/cream/spray. I'm not to sure if something like that exists or what would be best for the Xbox. Also, I really want to just focus on the top X and not the ridges. They look okay. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
  24. Hi, Could someone tell me please if it's possible to use a 2tb hard drive (or either 3tb) on a softmodded console ? Regards.
  25. I just installed xbmc emustation and it looks great. I am only going to use it for my original xbox games that I have already installed on the hard drive. The only problem I have is that I don't have any artwork for my games - instead I see a list of games when I click into the xbox folder. In the menu there is an option called 'Xbox games artwork installer' but nothing happens when I select it. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong - I'm not familiar with xbmc - first time using it as I always used my xbox for coin ops but I recently purchased a second xbox with games I used to play back in the day such as Black and Burnout 3 Takedown.
