  1. Im looking for some ideas to try before I look for a replacement xbox. Im not sure if i can do anything else at this point. My xbox was soft modded for some time, but I wanted to do a tsop to unlock the drive and then put in a 2.5 inch 500 gb sata drive. I did the tsop (i have a v1.5) soldered the 2 point and flashed the tsop with hexen 2021 disc. Put in my sata driver with adpater and 80 pin cable and everything was great. I started uploaded the library that i have. I also removed the supercap. I was down to my really scrached discs and was trying to see i could get good copies from them, but gave up. I picked up some new titles and went to install them and the xbox wouldnt boot. I get the evo/xbox splash screen to a blank screen with the orange led. Tried booting hexen or soft mod or game disc and nothing. I tried cleaning out the dvd drive, that didnt help. The last thing i did with the drive was watch it with the cover off. It doesnt appear to be trying to focus nor does it appear to be emitting a laser. It does move the laser head unit on the rails. But i dont think this should stop a boot to harddrive? I went back to the ide drive and the 40 pin cable and no change. I tried combinations of hooking up pc cdrom to the ide and dvd on the power. Thought maybe the dvd drive was corrupting the ide bus. Ive checked my caps and board multiple times. The only thing i was suspicious of was a pin point spot on the nvidia chip, i hope it didnt melt itself inside. So thats where im at, i think my dvd is toast and maybe the ide on the motherboard is broken.
  2. Hey guys, just wondering if someone could confirm a suspicion of mine. So a while ago I dug out my old OG Xbox (V1.3 I believe) and found it wasn't working, it would switch on for a couple seconds then power off again. Did some research and found that the dreaded clock cap had leaked and one of the traces on the back was broken. So I removed the motherboard with the intention of repairing it, but then life got in the way and I didn't have the time so it sat in pieces for the best part of a year before I found the time to fix it. So I managed to remove the clock cap and clean the board, then I jumped the broken trace with a wire between the test points. (All good there, no shorts that I could find) I also changed the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU to Arctic MX4 while I was at it. So I put it all back together again, plugged it into my old SCART tv, it turns on from the power button fine, has a solid green light, you can hear the hard drive starting up too (still has the original in it right now) but there is no audio or video output to the tv. I tried a different AV cable but got the same result, and I know the tv is good cause my Sega Saturn works fine through the SCART. Also worth mentioning that the DVD drive (Samsung) won't open by it's self. I cleaned up the belt and greased the slides but same result. I tried it with the top of the DVD drive off so I could see and it looks like the laser moves about like it wants to open but the motor makes no attempt to spin up. So in short I have a V1.3 Xbox that shows a solid green light, No video, No audio and the DVD drive doesn't open. From what I've read on here so far it sounds like I may have a corrupt BIOS/coma console on my hands (though I heard V1.0 and V1.1 were more prone to that). What do you guys think?
  3. I just picked up an EMS Topgun II. Is anyone here familiar with it and able to give pointers? I’ve figured out how to work it and calibrate it. My biggest questions are how to do general navigation on Xbox and in CoinOps. Id also like suggestions on good light gun games in both. I know about House of the Dead 3 and Silent Scope. I also have the Chihiro Virtua Cop and Ghost Squad
  4. Hi. I have the Xecuter3 mod with firmware version 3294 and a rev1.0 Xbox. I'm trying to install a big HDD (4TB) and have maged to get it recognised by using the Startech IDE to SATA converter. I've got it partitioned and setup successfully (using OGXbox installer tools), but, upon reboot, the HDD light on the front of the xbox (x3 firmware button mod) sticks on and the system doesn't boot to dash. I've tried different HDD's and both 40 / 80 pin cables and no difference. If I just install the 200GB IDE HDD I have, it works fine and boots fast. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? I have the switch on the back set to Cable Select and am currently using the 80 pin IDE cable. I've tried two of those with the same result. Cheers, BigDaddyCainer
  5. I found an original xbox. I don't know much about it. It was opened, but I doubt that it was modded. I bought cables, which were lacking. I tried to connect it to my flat panel tv via a composite to HDMI converter. I can see the blue screen on the HDMI channel, and I can see it switch from 720 to 1080p, so I am convinced that is working. I never see anything from the XBOX though. All I get is a flashing green light. I don't have any idea of what's wrong or how to go about fixing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi everyone, I have a tsoped original xbox ver. 1.1 motherboard, clock capacitor removed, and running indi-bios. In rare occasions, when I turn on the console..I get a flashing green light with no image nor sound on screen. What can the green flashing light code mean? I tried unplugging the console from power strip, pressing/holding power button for 30sec. and when I re-connect the console and turn it on..I still get a flashing green light. But usually the console turns on fine. I'm not sure if it's a bad ribbon cable, or a bad sata adapter. I do know I have a foxcom IDE ribbon cable, and I do have a good quality sata adapter. The capacitors on power supply and motherboard look fine, they are not bloated, nor leaking. (capacitors look new) Thanks in advance
  7. Hello. 1- I installed for the first time an Alladin xt Plus2. When I just plug my Xbox with the Power cable the red light on the chip immediately turns on. Shouldn't turn only when I turn on the Xbox? I am afraid I did smth wrong. The chip works fine anyways. It appears the EVOX logo. 2- Is it normal xbox heats up more than the usual before I installed the chip? The heat sink kinda burns after the chip installation. I changed for a new 250gb hdd. Is that the reason for the heat problem? Should I change the cable for an 80 pins to don't heat up a lot? Thanks.
  8. I picked up a dead xbox, $20, I want to see if it can be fixed. (I believe its 1.6 board, xcalibur chip and MFD 2005 ) Pressing the power button spins the rear fan but stops spinning when I stop pressing the button. No other signs of life. No signs of being opened before. The power board powers up my other good v1.6 xbox fine, so a bad power board can be ruled out. Plugging my other good power board into the dead xbox has the same fan spin only result. I transferred the DVD to my good xbox and that works ok. I notice 4 of 5 caps bellow the CPU are blown - I've got 5 new 3300uf 10v caps coming in the post to replace them ($6 ebay), I looked on Digikey but $24 just for postage The closest Jaycar stock is 4700uf 16v. I noticed the 1.0f 2.5v gold cap in there too, do the 1.6v suffer the same leaky problems as earlier xbox version timer caps? needs changing? I don't expect to diagnose anything further until the 5 3300uf caps are replaced, but wondering if in the mean time there is anything else to check? or perform after caps replaced.
  9. My XBOX turns on and works but the green light around the eject button does not come on. The system is a 1.0 version and has been successfully Tsoped. A red light comes on around the eject button when booting with the Helen 2017 disk, but I don’t ever get a green light under normal operation. Any idea what would cause this or how I can fix it? Thanks.
  10. So i tried to upgrade my 1.1 xbox to 128mb. I installed the first chip successfully and xblastOS flashed to TSOP said "Success". Then i attempted to install second chip on bottom side, but xbox started fragging. I fixed up some shorts i found, but it still fragged. Then i measured according to datasheet, that power to RAM is shorted to ground. The shorted pins most likely were: 66 and 65. However it's possible, that i used the chip pinout wrongly and i measured short between VDD and VDDQ, which should be fine. Even after fixing the shorts, it still fragged. After (destructively, but fortunately without ripping any trace) removing the both installed chips, it still does very weird frag. Basically the LED lights up only for short while and then turns off. Xbox's fan runs for a while and then it reboots. This gets repeated indefinitely, but rarely you get normal FRAG and xbox stays on. I measured 2.65V going to the VDDQ pin and the RAM power rail or any of the main power rails are NOT shorted now. ANyone knows if i can fix it? All my other xboxes are either fragging (i have 1.0 i got fragging, but it might be TSOP issue as there are no signs of tracerot, no leaking caps and apparently TSOP might naturally degrade now, so i ordered modchip and will try to install it) or they are 1.6, which suck IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/z74Mzxe Here is reference image how i installed one of the chips, that worked well (the first one). I guess it was pretty good: https://imgur.com/a/6DlSKuY. The residue is either flux or denaturated ethanol i used to clean it up. VIDEO:
  11. Having issues booting after an OpenXenium install on a 1.6 (using pcb). When power button is pressed, front light turns immediately from green to orange flashing, fails to power, then reboots and tries to power again with orange flashing light, then does it a third time. After the unsuccessful third try, it just completely cuts power and that's it. No flashing message, nothing at this point. Never able to get video either. Does the same thing regardless of whether drives are plugged in or not. While its trying to power on, I can see a solid red light on the chip, so I know its getting power. First time doing an Xbox mod, so hopefully this is just an issue of me being a noob. Board, power, and cables were all working before the mod. Solder points for the chip have been reflowed a couple times. I have also checked for possible solder splash, but there does not appear to be any that I can see. Traces also appear fine to me- no obvious burns or tears. Caps also appear good. Anything I miss? Maybe I need to re-check something more thoroughly? Mostly wondering what the 3x power cycle, orange light, no boot means.
  12. Hi, 1.6 with Aladdin chip Thermal paste replaced 120gb IDE hdd replaced with 1tb SATA (and Sata-IDE adapter plus 80-wire IDE cable) (Bought the xbox with chip and the 120gb hdd installed) HDD formatted properly, UnleashX installed All working beautifully, except for: When i try to IGR (in game reset) using either RT+LT+back+black or LT+RT+back+start the result is the same. It does not reset, it turns off, then turns on again but quite choppy ending with a green flashing front LED and nothing on the screen. Also, the red light on my sata-ide adapter goes on and off when it chops trying to boot. Then it goes to flashing green front LED with no light on the HDD (HDD not running i guess). Any thoughts? Thanks!

  15. I tried to mod my Xbox by doing the solder bridge mod to reflash the bios, I am now getting a flashing eject button red and green, I removed the solder bridges already, I also removed the capacitor for the clock. Any ideas what I can try to fix this?
  16. Hello gents This afternoon I received original Xbox 1.4 purchase from eBay. I turned it on. And stayed on for about 30min. Then I when head with Tsop. After that I run this Xbox for few hours. Transfer ninja pack, and enjoyed games for some time. Turn back on after dinner and red light start flashing. Normally I would say over heating, but I'm not sure. Could be eeprom as well, 8 pin chip next to bios. And a suggestion please ? Thanks Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
