About Me

  1. Hello, new member on this forum for a day, Xbox original French Fan for a long time, i'm was looking for help try to resurect one of my xbox, and thanks to this forum i did it, reading a lot of ya Thread help me to win my 3 days battle against that console. thanks to all the members . i've subscribe right after, because you are a source of treasure for this console now it's time to feed the beast . cheers all
  2. A service installed an Aladdin xt modchip into my xbox, works perfectly, the problem I have is that if I press the power button it drops me into the official MS dash, if I hold the power button for 1 sec it takes me to the Slayers custom dash, so I can play anything. I wanted the modchip to be permanently enabled so I dont have to hold every time the power button, so I soldered two joints as shown here: This causes my xbox to turn on as soon as I plug it into the wall, even without pressing the power button, and the xbox can't be turned off. Is it a normal thing? I mean this automatic power on obviously not normal, but that one that I have to hold the power button to enter custom dash, is it normal? Or the service messed up the soldering points with the modchip on the motherboard? I have a 1.6 motherboard I guess.
  3. This is a long shot since I can't seem to find anything on the subject anywhere. Does anyone know how (website, guide, person, video) to install both the remote dongle and the logitech dongle internally? I remember a long time ago a guide or two on how to do it but can't seem to find anything now. I'm guessing that there's a lag issue for the logitech and maybe there's better newer tech now that corrects that, if lag is a big issue I might just get something newer even if its not internal but the remote dongle to turn the xbox on is a must. Is the lag that bad on the logitech, enough to go back to wired? What do you guys recommend is the best wireless solution with current tech? I would still like to know how to do the mods, hope someone out there knows. Thanks in advance.
  4. My family absolutely adores our original xbox. It was modded back in the day with an Xecuter v2.6 chip with is connected to the debug pins, and a few other misc spots. I didn't get to the clock chip in time, and corrosion ate through the tiny edge traces under the board. I've tried repairing it, but it's beyond me... once it warms up, it goes crazy on/off eject/close... I have another 1.0 motherboard and figured I could use that as a replacement, then cross the HDD Key when I got there. So I followed the pinout of the original motherboard and replicated its connections, installed the new motherboard in the original's case and sure enough, Code 6... So I softmodded the new mobo with its original HDD with the Rocky setup and null'd the hard drive. I swapped the HDD back to my original and still no good... I've read that hard-modded xboxes are capable of working better with non-locking HDDs, so I'm hoping there's something I can do to get this new motherboard communicating with my original hard drive. I really would like to keep the content that we have on there. Is there any hope? Thanks in advance!
  5. Can I swap a cable from an official S controller and a Duke. I can solder so was thinking I could open my Duke as the lead is snagged - still working perfectly. I was planning on cutting the wire just inside both controllers and then soldering the non frayed wires from the 'S' to the Duke. Has anyone tried this? Should I just leave well enough alone? Thanks
  6. Hey guys, made an instruction for the "Analog2HDMI" mod from Electron Shepherd LLC. 1. Remove AVIP Socket from your Mainboard: 2. Modify AVIP Socket: 3. Add Analog2HDMI to AVIP Socket, make sure to flip Analog2HDMI otherwise you might have problems with the Mainboard. 4. Use hot glue to attach Analog2HDMI and AVIP Socket, just leave the space for the wires between Mod and Mainboard. 5. Solder your Mod to the Mainboard, use this digram: IMPORTANT: Use all the Ground (GND) i use! Add an extra wire (GND) between HDMI Socket of Analog2HDMI and Mainboard if the RF shielding doen't touch the HDMI Socket, otherwise you will most likely get image error. 6. Congratulations to your new HDMI mod! Hope you can work with this!
  7. I'm about to install some Internal mods and needed to know how to power them, do I just tap into the hdd's molex? I'm not using the DVD drive so I was thinking of using the 12pin header but I don't know what is a safe amp limit. The mods would draw around 2.5A, how do you guys safely power multiple Internal mods like leds, temp sensors+display, wireless controller & remote control, wifi, Extra fans?
  8. Folks, thanks for letting me tap the vast knowledge here, yet again. I have 3 issues and hope to get at least one figured out, thanks for any help you can give. I didn't have much luck in the search, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat topic, but I'm sure KaosEngineer will prove me wrong yet again #1 Video playback lags in both XBMC and XBMC4XBOX on 2 different V1.6 softmod boxes. I've tried several formats, .avi, .mp4, .m4v, etc., they all open and play, but either have bad/scrambled video, slowed down playback but audio remains normal, and things just don't run like they should (or as I would expect). In XMBC4XBOX, for example, I've tried all the "video" settings I can see, such as pixel shredder, flicker filter, skip loop filter, etc. The same files work fine on my desktop and laptop, nothing wrong with the files I'm trying to watch. -Am I using a bad program, is there a better video player? I'm considering, naively, upgrading to a SSD.... #2 Is there a plain, straight forward tut for video output upgrade, like switching to HDMI or improving from the 480 (or whatever the standard video output is) with a softmod? #3 Far less pressing, on a recent softmod of a v1.6, I get an MS error 07 when I use the restart/reboot action from the dashboard and other apps that offer a restart. It only happens on restarts, I can turn the unit off then on, and NOT get the error, so as of now it's just a minor inconvenience, but makes me wonder why it occurs. New 80pin IDE cable, used in both directions (blue end on mobo and black on hhd, as well as the reverse) and sure to plug them in tightly and completely. Using a 1tb seagate that is listed on the compatibility chart as working. here's the sata-ide adapter I'm using https://www.ebay.com/itm/154372204735 Thanks for the help!
  9. Hello again, I got another Xbox with another problem. It`s a box manufactured 2003 (so no 1.6 I guess) and it`s a SmartXX built in from 2004. There are several banks flashed with some BIOS files (see picture). There was only a 160GB IDE drive installed so I decided to change it to a SATA 2TB. I made a FTP-copy of the files from C and E. I used FatXplorer to prepare the drive and copied all previously saved files to the new C and E drives to the new partitions. After that I got error 21 after boot. The only working Dash is the EvolutionX but it won`t recognize the F and G partition as it should. I formatted F and G 927GB each but as you can see in the picture it shows only F and not even the correct size. I think the flashed BIOS version is too old. When EvolutionX boots up it shows Xecuter2 below the green xbox logo. Wich BIOS do I need to flash SmartXX and how do I flash it? I need your help again Regards.
  10. For some reason when I turn on the Xbox I am greeted with the error code 05 (unlocked hard drive). But I thought an unlocked hard drive was usable with a mod chip installed? - Re-soldered the wires from the D0 point, BT point mod chip flashed red, BT is joined to the mod chip so it is always on. Despite all of this the Xbox boots up displaying the error code 05. and no sign of the chip working its magic. Thanks, Pez.
  11. Hello everyone, A while back I bought a couple of Xbox's 1.0 , 1.3 & a 1.6 . Fixed the first two up and running , now the last one turns on and off 3 times, then flashes red/green without video, previous owner says it had the error 06 but for me It doesn't give a video signal at all. A visual inspection of the board for any bulged capacitors shows no obvious faults, although I am aware that sometimes with an ESR meter (which i dont have) you can tell which is good and which is bad. I'm using a component cable and the V1.6 xbox is a PAL unit and the hard drive inside is definitely not stock 160GB storage and no hard mod is installed. A quick search gives me the idea that its probably the eeprom ( dead or corrupted ) if that is the case and assuming i have no backup as i do not know what the previous owner did to it, what should i do ? if not any ideas what should i check / do to troubleshoot the problem ? . I have a Rpi , arduino and an old eeprom universal flasher ( i will check if it supports the chips ). Oh and i have an Aladdin XT PLUS2 on hand if that would help , but kindly note that I have never used them before but if someone has a guide that would be appreciated as well. Best Regards SP
  12. Would it be advantegious? Or would it cause any interference?
  13. Hey folks! New member here! Bought a custom OG Xbox modded and loaded a while back and recently moved. Hooked it up and turned it on and got a #12 error with red ring. I’d love to to find someone reputable that I could send off for service. Thank you
  14. I have a hard modded console with a 1TB HDD that I would like to swap into a softmodded console that has a 500gb and vice versa. I know that something has to be done with the HDD keys but I dont know the exact details and don't want to mess anything up. Both systems have config magic currently installed. The reason I want to do a simple swap is because I have recently backed up all my games to the 1TB and really don't want to have to go through the hassle of cloning with chimp and then backing them all up again, so if someone is able to give me a quick step by step on what I need to do with both console it would be really appreciated?
  15. That shit is elusive now. Can't find it. Anybody still have the ips file and the ips application?
  16. Anyone know if there's a way to use ogx360 to power on/off the Xbox using this? Would be a really nice quality of life upgrade to the OG
  17. This should be my last post on electricity, I know I have posted a lot over the last few days and gotten some great answers, but great answers can also push you towards something new to learn about. Anyways here goes. 1. Lots of homes where I live have an RCD/ safety switch which can detect imbalances between the neutral and live connections. If there is an imbalance (such as when current is going to ground) it will trip the power. In regards to the xbox, it does not have a ground prong on its power cable, so how can an RCD trip the power in the event of a electrical fault (such as water, corrosion and other damage)? And If the TV the xbox is connected too and other devices connected to the TV don't have have ground prongs either and are all connected to the same powerstrip, how does and RCD protect them? 2. I opened up two of my consoles that were water damaged a few years ago. I checked for corrosion. Didn't see much. A little on the underside of the psu (which I don't think I can clean off) and possibly small amounts on the main board. Although there is a risk that I may miss some of it as there is a lot to examine and it may be hidden under things. My main question with this is how bad is corrosion? I know it creates shorts and I do not particular care if these particular two xboxs fail but I do care about how it may effect other consoles connected to the same powerstrip and tv. My tv does not have a ground prong and neither do the consoles. If somone could fill me in on the outcomes of corrosion and if my other consoles are protected by something? like a RCD? Thanks guys once again, and I apologise for going on about things, It is just in my nature to want to be really sure about things.
  18. I recently took a non-functional 1.0 board with 128mb of ram to a shop and asked that they move the extra ram to another working 1.0 board. Upon getting the unit back I'm noticing some unique behavior and most importantly that it won't boot. I do have an Xblast Lite chip connected, D0 goes from the point on the back to the correct location on the chip. The chip is installed with a header. When I boot with the chip connected, I get a reboot twice and then the Flashing Red and Green. When I disconnect the chip from the headers I get two reboots and a Red and Orange light. Anything I should have the installer checking out specifically with the above in mind? It looks like they had some pad lifting issues.
  19. I made a modded version (details soon) of the Xecuter 3 bios to theoretically boot on all chips (it was tested on a 1.0/1.1 TSOP, SmartXX and Xenium chip). It is 1024k bios so you can't flash it on a 1.2-1.4 tsop. (Config Live won't work because most if not all except x3 chips don't have a dedicated EEPRom) Warning: This modded version hasn't been tested on every modchip so don't try to flash it, if you have no way to recover as it might could brick your chip. Download: https://goo.gl/bJy9g1 Thanks to xbox7887 for testing it on his Xenium Box and 1.0/1.1 TSOP. (Basically just a repost from my Reddit post)
  20. I just bought this used knowing the startup was a little finicky at times. Everything was working fine, but now on startup I get 4 clicking sounds and after 3 times it frags. When I turn off the modchip it boots into the blob just fine. can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this problem? This is a crystal version: 2004-10-04, other than that I haven't found any other info.
  21. My 2005 XBox has an SDG-605F in it and it isn't reading discs. I cleaned the laser first. No go. Then, I adjusted the pot from 1247 down to around 560 in increments of about 100-150 at a time, and I've now given up. Is it possible that I just missed the point at which it will work? (That is, maybe I went to 720 from 850 but it would have worked at 785?) Any other ideas besides a wholesale swap-out? Thanks.
  22. Aplogies for the noobness here My xbox will not load unleashx on the new hd often. it either takes along time to load or fails. it does not load evox in corner also. Xbox ntsc-j 1.0 2 tb WD Green aladian xt2 hard mod instal issues. - doesn not load evox in conrer anymore after bios flash - boot looping, freezing, not loading into unleash, going into red green flash after 3 boot attempts. -if loads, often after a reboot will decide to 'take a break' boot loop into flashing lights, black screen. -no EVOX logo with or without hd anymore ( this makes me think its a bios issue) -loading hexen to install xmbc or try reflash bios is always unsuccessful. -can load ogxbox just unsure what to instal. Previous notes , install and before issues: -Removed capacitor, installed chip, directed d0 to wrong point (plese see pic) still successfully launched EVOX. -would not load hexen or new hd. redirected the d0 to proper point then had boot problems. starting logo would freeze. -Reflowed aladdin pin headers. -changed wiring back (picture - d0 point to ledhd - i did not clearly understand pdf install guide) hexen loaded. -freezed once. flashed bios 480p an d couldnt get logo screen. reverted back. could load new hdd. -installed ntsc package and got error on 'nodvd' (forgot this part kind of), still loaded into partioner. -partioned hd using 947-1 method (2tbhd) rebooted but froze. -reloaded hexen, reinstalled ntsc p[ackage succefully with no errors. -reformated drives again with 946 +1 method. -rebooted and got power boot loops and no evox logo. -also got the issue LBA48 bios issues when checking reformat drives. however drives are formatted. Thought it maybe hd issues or power issue or ide/sata issues but havetested with nad without hd and get same result. unless i leave the xbox to rest it wont reboot. I can get into a succeful unleshx dash with hd partioned. it just doesnt run smooth or seem right. Plesea see pics. Ive burnt ogxbox disc to try and instal bios but unsure which one honestly. but this randomly loads . I have a feeling ive done something to the modchip. iread that the bios on hexen for the chip was junk but have no idea how to instal a new bios now. I hope someone can help https://imgur.com/JB1rbXv https://imgur.com/eTbE2sJ https://imgur.com/P4YXvm5 https://imgur.com/piCzr6M
  23. I did a softmod on my original xbox after it was already softmoded. the games before played in color. After the softmode done al ot of games start up in black and white mode . i do use a vga connection and not a RGB. There are games what play in color and some of them just start up from the harddisk in black and whiote that used to be colormode. i play arond with NTSC enigma and i can chage between pal and NTSC but that is not the issue the box start up in pal but when i start up the game from HD it jumps in B/W . not the write display. any help would be nice to solve the problem. thx
  24. I have been trying to find versions 5.12 and 6 for "softmod installer deluxe". Does anyone have a link?
  25. Hello guys, This is my first post on this great forum, lots of info and input is amazing! The reason of this probably repeated post is that I want to upgrade my HDD to a 1TB or 2TB HDD (what's the max capacity I can go with my motherboard?), I watched lots of tutorials and seems the way to go is using OGXBox (downloaded and burned version 1.5.3 to a DVD, also have TruHeXEn 2021 on another DVD disc if needed) my questions are mostly regarding how to proceed now, I got this console from a very good friend some 15 years ago, and it was modded as it alwas played back up DVD's, I opened the console to look if there was any physical chip or mod to the board but couldn't find any or I'm too dumb to detect it, seems like it is only soft modded? Current BIOS and Dash versions are attached in pics along with more pics of the motherboard so I don't know if you guys can see any mods performed to it. I already purchased the SATA to IDE adapter and performed the 80 way/40 pin IDE cable conversion and everything seems to be working after that I was able to play my backup DVDs and play from the original HDD as well, so basically which route do I follow now? because I don't want to perform something that might brick the console by interfering with the already installed mod, also is there any specific model of 3.5" SATA HDD I need to choose?, I know there's like a list of working/locked HDD so do I need to consider that when purchasing my new HDD? I was plannig to get a WD blue or Seagate Barracuda. Thank you very much for all your help guys!
