Was pretty fun once I got control of the soldering

Hi folks, Am a very newbie lol , I bought an original Xbox soft modded (0.38.0515A Build 565) . Worked fine for few days, but now 95% of the time when i boot it up I can hear the click of death... CLICK CLIcK ... the Hard drive is dying and it stays in the boot screen. Every-time i try to read/write from the hard drive (FTP) it starts clicking and I can't do anything and sometimes a screen with error 09 appears. I learned from searching on google ,that I need a HDD key to replace the hard drive before it dies completely , so I managed to copy it from the UnleachX info screen ( HDD key + Serial number ). Is it possible to replace the hard drive ? Is there any hope ? PS: I do not have any soldering tools/skills and sorry for my English. Thank you in advance

I own quite a few original xbox consoles and I am currently in the process of having them all modded. I want them to all have the same save files and be able to switch each hard drive to another console if needed. Using configmagic, I have a little problem with the unique hdd keys and current hdd unlock password. I can change the unique hdd keys so all my xboxs match but I can not change the current hdd unlock password (I hear its generated by a combination of things). I want to be able to mix and match hard drives. How do I get around this so that all the keys match on all my consoles? I know there is a program to null the keys but some of my gamesaves I believe are signed by the unique hard drive key so I would like the unique hdd to remain the same. Hopefully there is something I'm missing.

i've heard of and watched videos of people putting in a sata hdd. there are plenty of 250gb ide hdd's out there so why doo most people swap to sata?

Have a two original hard drive from a dead xbox but do not have a eeprom.bin or a hdd key backup, is there a solution to unlock? or a cloning hd from a working xbox?

Hello Guys, i have a softmoded Xbox console and i wanted to upgrade my Hard drive From the Stock To a 500GB Seagate Barracuda Drive, I tried everything I connected the Molex power cable, 80 Wire Cable, loaded the Chimp app to try and get inside to do it but it just keeps saying " Unable to boot the first sector" I tried again and nothing worked, I have a normal SATA to ide adapter which shows light, I put Ito slave and still nothing happens, I Have an original controller and using an RGB Cable but still nothing, all i get is this message, can someone help me please?

Hi, have a fresh repair xbox 1.4 console but now I should replace hard disk and put a one stock taken from another hard disk how can I do? The console modded with openxenium modchip.

I appreciated everyone helping in the other thread to be me where I am on my old Xbox! I have a question regarding swapping drives. Here is what I have: XBOX A Old xbox originally soft modded in the early 2000's. Has a 200 GB drive in it with all my games. I have re-softmodded it to the Rocky Softmod. I did not Null the hard drive when i did the Rocly soft mod (I may have done it when i originally modded this thing 15+ years ago). Xbox B Xbox I just bought. Has the factory hard drive in it. I have used the Rocky soft mod on this box and have nulled the hard drive. Can I swap the hard drive from Xbox A into Xbox B by just disconnecting and plugging it in? I want to do this because Xbox A has corrosion issues and just randomly turns off. Should I null the hard drive in Xbox A before doing this? Any help would be appreciated!

I have a softmodded xbox and upgraded to a 250GB drive. I used Chimp 261812 - I cloned the C and E drive and selected the option for the F drive to get all unallocated space in the program. Problem is that the F drive only has 123GB ( both C and E have just over 4gb respectively) so I seem to be missing quite a few gigs - any ideas? Thanks

Hi Looks like the power supply of my Xbox has died and was going to swap it with another Xbox a friend gave me, but turns out the hardware got changed somewhere along the lines and it's not do-able to swap the power supplies, so figured i'd just swap the hard drive instead allowing me to keep my games/dashboard etc. It's been a long time since i soldered the chip on my dead Xbox and the other one i have has a different chip. Anyway, am getting 06, 13 and 21 errors on the Xbox with the newly installed hard drive. Is there anyway to keep my existing files on my original hard drive? Remember something about the locking key on the Xbox hard drive - do i need to copy this over from the hard drive i removed? Am looking at downloading the Hexen disc to start off. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have an unused 80GB 2.5" IDE HDD bought for an old laptop which died before I got around to fitting it. The problem or maybe not a problem is the 2.5" IDE to 3.5" IDE adapter. I've found what I think are suitable ones on Ebay/Amazon (F 2.5" with M 3.5" to connect to the IDE cable). But the thing I'm not sure about is the power supply. The ones I've found have a (F) Molex connector + cable but only wired with red and black cables. This I assume is 5v and ground ie. normal Molex power connections. Is this enough to power the 2.5" HDD? It should be but it got me thinking about why the Xbox HDD power supply has both 5v and 12v connections (red + ground and yellow + ground) if they're not both needed. If a standard 3.5" HDD in the Xbox needs more than 12v available perhaps a 2.5" HDD needs more than 5v too. Knowledgeable advice appreciated.

Non riesco a capire il tipo di guasto. Xbox non modificata. Si accende si avvia la dashboard e navigo nei menu. Però se voglio leggere la memoria disponibile si frena. Si blocca e va in errore. Questo lo fa anche se voglio leggere la memory che ho nel pad. Inoltre se inserisco un DVD xbox dice che ha bisogno di manutenzione. Grazie per le risposte.

Hello new to the Xbox modding scene I picked up a hard modded xbox and everything works great except for sound and I can’t figure out why... I have tried different cables and different tv’s still no luck Don’t know to much about chips and what it has to be honest I’m still learning lol

Hardmod is done on 1.6 but I still have the stock hard drive , should it be locked or is there something I need to do? I have recently install kixxx emulator but have it in apps in the boot dash that hexen installed as I don't see how to put in emulators folder. Works fine just wrong location, how do I move into emulators folder? Still learning how this file system all works.

Hello, I've just upgraded my hard drive. Added a 80-wire 40 pin and with a pata to sata adapter. It cloned just fine. I selected selective partition (C,e,f and g) as it stated G would take the rest of the space. It's a 500Gb hard drive. But.. It says partition G is 0Gb available.. And F is at 120Gb. But XBpartitioner 1.3 sees G at around 300Gb. So why isn't it available for me to use? But really F can take it all correct? So no need for G..? Okay, I disabled partition G and filled partition F with all it can have(it said 400Gb ish) and I wrote that to the disk with XBpartitioner 1.3. And now it says it only has 246Gb... Where did the rest go... I'm lost UPDATE: okay... UnleashX shows me under storage menu that is "sees" 469Gb ish.. But only available 246Gb... But the partition is empty??? Anyone got a clue?

Hi, guys. I have a problem. I'd like to admit a 1 tb hard drive into an xbox 1.6 with modchip AladdinXT. Unfortunately, by inserting the hard disk with the dvd of rocky5 or Wizard, the hdd is not recognized. I tried in my xbox 1.0 with the same chip, and it is recognized. Partitioning is everything, it is recognized. I put it back in the xbox 1.6 but it is not recognized. If I remember correctly, it's an eeprom problem. Can you help me?

my question is can you boot a softmodded xbox with the locked drive then run a hexen disc to build another drive

Hey, if I have an old Xbox hard drive from a softmod, that is locked, and I no longer have the Xbox, can I reuse it somehow still for anything? Like can I unlock it in windows and reformat?

Hey everyone. I've been using a 500GB SATA laptop drive as my main hard drive for a few years now but it seems to be dying. I'd really like to hear your suggestions on what you find is the best quality or most cost effective drive you recommend. Do you use a 2.5 or 3.5 inch drive? Do you like standard, hybrid, or solid state drives? I was probably going to get one of these but if you know of something better, let me know. Hi everyone, I am new, and I was searching a forum of xbox modders. I was wandering if I could put two hard disks in my xbox, and I found an adapter that I buyed long time ago, called xdhddxx. Does anyone knows how it works and how I should connect it? I can barely find information on google. I only discovered that it is an ide doubler, and that if you turn on the xbox with the dvd button it boots the first drive, if you turn the xbox with the power button it boots with the other. Hello everyone my name is Jayson. I'm new to this forum and xbox modding. I hope someone can help me. Issue: I have a Original Xbox version 1.6B with aladin modchip. I installed a 500Gb Western Digital Blue sata HDD. I used Hexen 2019 to initialize the new hard drive. But the partition F: only shows 123 Gigabytes. I'm pretty sure that i set all the storage size to partition F:. While on Hexen interface, drive F: is 400+ gb. But when you remove the hexen disk and let it boot to xbox interface. It only shows 123GB. Anybody have an idea what going on? I also tried hexen 2018. But same issue occured. Thanks in advanced.

I have used xboxhdm23 beta by Rocky5 to create an xbox hdd from scrtach using the nulled eeprom from my xbox. The program also copied over the files for the c drive which in this case are the installer files for Rockys softmod. When i put the drive in the xbox and boot it up all i get is an error 13 (dash error), i have verified that the files are indeed in the c drive on the hdd but the installer (xboxdash.xbe) does not load. Have i done something wrong somewhere? Also, as the eeprom was nulled that was used to lock this drive, in theory this hdd should be able to be installed in any xbox with a nulled eeprom, is that correct??

I bought a 500gb Xbox fully loaded with origins dashboard and games - one game (GTA San Andreas) appears on “featured games” but when I press A the console resets - how do I delete it from appearing in “Featured Games” - or could I add the game somehow as I have the disk? Thanks
