I've not run such an old copy of UnleashX. I have 0.39.0222A Build 572 or 0.39.0528A Build 584 and the skin works on these two versions. If you don't mind, can you archive this old modified version of UnleashX and attach it to a post ?

Another method if you don't install a modchip. You need to create a backup - eeprom.bin file from the data stored in the configuration EEPROM on the Xbox motherboard. Use a serial Xbox EEPROM reader/writer and PonyProg software (there are many other tutorials online) to save the 256-bytes from the 8-pin serial EEPROM or a Raspberry Pi and PiProm software to do the same. With the eeprom.bin backup, you can then use XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 to prepare a new HDD with a no-original-game-disk-required Xbox Softmodding Tool installer. Lock the drive, install it in the Xbox and boot the console, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the softmod installation. XboxHDM23USB requires the HDD to be connected to the PC via a USB-to-HDD interface adapter.

I did a 616T mod ages ago no longer have the drive and it worked. I do seem to recall that the tray didn't seem to close completely without a little help to actually start reading the disk. The sensors indicated that it was closed but the disk did not spin-up until you pressed it in just a little bit further. There's a plastic piece inside the drive that has to be trimmed down just a bit for the tray to close enough to get the laser head to load. I never did trim it or finish the process of modding the drive to fit inside the case.

Use XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 to install its no-original-game-disk-required Xbox Softmodding Tool installer. Hotswap connect the Xbox's unlocked HDD to a USB-to-IDE or IDE/SATA combo adapter. Install the software package to the C drive of the Xbox HDD. Disconnect it from the PC and reinstall it back in the Xbox. But with firmware updates and a few electrical modifications, there were a few that could.

Without a replacement dashboard running which provides an FTP server, you cannot FTP to the console. Download Hexen 2018, extract and burn the iso to DVD-R. BOOT it. You'll see the IP address on the main screen assigned to the Xbox. FTP to that IP address.

If you plan on upgrading the HDD, I'd reflash the modchip with a different BIOS. X2 4981.06 is one of the latest Xecuter X2 BIOSes but not the latest available - X2 4983.{06 or 67} (size: 256KB) or X2 5035 (size: 512KB). LBA48 configurations .06 for partition 6 only or 67 for both partition 6 and 7. However, for most HDDs especially a 2TB HDD, you'll be using an HDD partition table stored to the HDD with XBPartitioner v1.3. I would use from the Hexen 2018 installer disc, either M8plus F & G, X2 5035 or iND-BiOS Beta Feb-11-05 (aka 5004.67) (size: 256KB). If using X2 5035, it has a configuration file that should be uploaded to the root of the F or E drive - x2config.ini. The iND-BiOS has a configuration file - ind-bios.cfg - that should be uploaded to the root of the Xbox's C drive.

No special software. Anything that can burn an ISO disc image. Windows 10 builtin ISO burning, ImgBurn, Nero, etc. Use DVD-R media.

The MD5 hash for this 256KB BIOS of 0x535c802faccd1ce56f52216bc649f92f is for the X2 4981.06 BIOS from the Hexen installer disc. Found it listed in the HeXEn 2018 iso's HeXEn Tools/BIOS IDs/BiosIds.ini file. Not sure what mods have been made in XBTool since this MD5 hash does not match an unmodified X2 4981.06 BIOS which is equal to 0xca25c9b3721da8c96c4770515dbcda07

The Hexen disc image is in an XISO format, not a standard ISO format. You'll need to use a special app that recognizes this custom disc image format to browse and extract files from it. Qwix or C-Xbox Tool are two such Xbox scene apps. The Windows app PowerISO also recognizes the XISO format and standard ISO9660 disc images and possibly other non-standard disc image formats.

IIRC, the GenTooX based flasher DOES NOT resize. You need to use the correct sized dot bin file that matches the size of your TSOP. I think the Winbond TSOP is 256KB (2Mbit), not 1MB (8Mbit). Is that a Focus video encoder in the upper right corner of the fuzzy pic? If so, it's a 1.2-1.5 console, not a 1.1. Possible to recover in case of a disaster? Not easily!

If you use a non-cable select IDE cable or have to flip end-over-end to install a new 80-wire 40-pin cable, cable select function is defeated as it's based on which connector is connected to each device - host/motherboard, DVD (slave) and HDD (master) device. The HDD or IDE-to-SATA adapter will have to be set to MASTER.

Try a newer version of BIOS Checker. v5.0 is the latest; however, it to may show the BIOS as unknown but it will print the MD5 hash for the BIOS even when no match is found in it's BIOS ID naming file.

I'll check the file and see if I can get the other one I wanted to post. Update: Use Qwix to extract/FTP the content of the ISO (XISO) image to the Xbox HDD. Also, since the XISO is such a small file, additional filler - dummy files - needs to be added to the disc image before being burned. The other file I had has about 2GB's of filler so the Xbox's DVD drive will recognize/read the burned disc. (Use DVD-R media) Update 2: I attached/mounted the extracted pcn-ctd.iso without a problem to run the Controller Test Disk off the HDD.
