  1. Get yourself some kynar 30 awg wire to fix any traces. Have you left the pinheader attached, if so check for any solder bridges on the pinheader.
  2. An easy way to find the game saves you want on a modded system is to go into game saves manager on your dash and by each game is the id number, you can then ftp the save back to your pc or just use a memory stick if the game save will allow.
  3. Also a good idea to test it on a chip with multiple bios banks to make it easier to fix.
  4. If you loaded the X2 bios off of hexen18 it should try and load the disk first.
  5. Welcome. I think it’s three. Go for a TSOP or modchip depending on your Xbox version. It’s a lot easy to fix if you have any hdd issues.
  6. Have you got a copy of hexen? Put it in the disk drive and then boot up the xbox and it should load then install dash from there.
  7. Yes it is a single wire. Not sure which pad though, I will check at the weekend. If you have a multimeter you could check for continuity by testing between the pads and the socket for number 6 pin on the pin socket adapter or follow the traces on the back of the chip.
  8. Is this what you meant by where to attach the 5V?
  9. Turn the chip over and take a picture of the traces and post it please, hopefully we can then see which is the 5v.
  10. Some work better than others use this website for a list of what works. http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list just check the connections are the right way around on the ide cable.
  11. Yes, I have used a standard cable in the past but you will get less delay and it will not just hang there which you get with some hdd SATA drives.
  12. Wow, I should sell one of mine.
  13. If you use Qwix you don’t need to ftp back to your pc, just point Qwix to the game file.
  14. What were your issues by just having the .cfg on the root of your c partition?
  15. A pc will use NTFS format on a hdd while your xbox is FATX. So no you will not be able to use it with your pc.
  16. You may need to mod your bios so that you can make your e partition larger. You will also then have compatibility issues with the stock M$ dash. Try disabling your f and g partitions in xbpt and then try to increase your e partition.
  17. Look on YouTube for a video explaining how to do it but it is pretty straight forward. There are a few apps that will do it. I use dvd2xbox. Download a copy or you my find it is already in your app folder. Open it, put your disk in your xbox, set the destination folder, either f: games or g: games hit the start button and away you go.
  18. Here’s a conversion table for the max hdd sizes for klusters. You multiply the jouster size by 16 to get the max hddgb size. 8k x 16 = 128gb16k x 16 = 256gb32k x 16 = 512gb64k x 16 = 1024gb
  19. I agree with MD regarding The V1. If you are planning to solder you TSOP bridges you will be fine rebuilding the LPC for a V1.6. Solder bridges are a lot tricker just practice on an old circuit board before you try it on your Xbox. A soldering iron with temperature control and lead based solder make it a lot simpler.
  20. You will not need to lock it if you TSOP your box.
  21. Do you have flashbios loaded on your bank 2? If so you can http to your bank 1 via a network connection from your pc to the chip.
  22. A reason to unlock your current hdd is so you can drop it into another xbox with modchip or TSOP or change the hdd key to zeroes for another softmod. When you drop a new drive in it will not be locked but you can leave your old one locked if you wish.
  23. Check the power unit for any loose connections, this would generate heat and normally quite a strong smell. Look for any scorch marks or signs of overheating.
  24. Do you use bios checker to check you have a good TSOP?
  25. Backing up the M$ dash will not effect flashing the bios, but you can add a backup to your E partition to stop it showing you that.
