  1. Awesome. Thanks for providing this for us. I have provided a direct link to the process for others to view.
  2. I’m searching everywhere for a HDD to dvd bracket that fits my needs. I’m fairly new the 3D printing/.stl scene so please send any suggestions. The one that would work perfectly is also using the mounting holes for Nemesis’ LED kit so that’s ruled out. This one:
  3. Just a heads up, the provided .stl file, is not for the fan shroud in the picture. It is for the version that the designer said was not ideal and did not work well. If anyone has the .stl for the the upright fan shroud in the picture, that would be greatly appreciated. Note: it is the same in Maddy’s provided .stl pack as well. I checked them all and apparently was just labeled incorrectly from the start.
  4. Put it here so others can voice their opinions or possibly even answer your questions.
  5. This is what needs to be altered on just the disc tray. I really don’t want to have to modify the part from Nemesis so I’m on the search for something more suitable. Good thing that 3D printing thread got some love this past week.
  6. It has the potential, but is currently not compatible with his kit. I need to do some trimming to the DVD bracket and possibly a little on the hdd housing. Still a work in progress. I'm more than likely going to need an entirely new setup on the disc drive side.
  7. After hitting so many walls in my recent projects, it’s nice to have at least one idea come to fruition. This has probably been done before, but I’ve never seen it so I thought I’d share my success story. I have achieved complete IDE elimination with this awesome Startech adapter. Downside is the size of the adapter, but I have a few ideas to make it work. The speeds are really good thus far, but I haven’t done much testing outside of menus. Look past the mess of cables lol. https://imgur.com/a/Ima00KO
  8. Bumping this. @KaosEngineer do you have anything on this with your seemingly infinite wisdom? SSDave has apparently left the forums.
  9. @DARK A you left us hanging on the conversion information. Any chance you can provide a guide or help walk us through the process so we can make a user guide for others? This can help so many users.
  10. Yes that’s highly possible. You can add a little contact cleaner or some isopropyl alcohol and hit it with a tooth brush or something that will break up the grime or corrosion within the switch. I’ve only had this happen once and I did eventually get it work. The switches are also readily available online if you just want to replace it. If you are strictly asking about the protection switch preventing you from flashing a bios, then yes, that is absolutely the problem if protection mode is on.
  11. I believe all xecuters have front panel switches. X3 just had many more dips than the others. A picture of yours would give a definite answer to whether it's an X3 or not.
  12. That’s perfectly fine and it is nice to show, but claiming it’s a 1/10 on the job scale is just complete BS. I’d wager that most ppl would be willing to spend $5 to save themselves hours of headache. Also, a simple hairdryer will suffice, over a heat gun if you don’t have one. And if can keep at least one person from putting their case in the freezer, then this is all worth it. DO NOT DO THAT!!
  13. I’d like to know your dyeing process if you wouldn’t mind sharing.
  14. Not a chance. Just looking at the process alone is a 5/10. Labor adds points. Then factoring in time, I'm gonna say at least 7/10. Heat gun and borer is a true 1/10.
  15. I tried a few months ago to delve into this topic and it seems there isn't much documentation on the subject. Lots of ppl say it's possible but nobody seems to have instructions.
  16. Heat gun and a hole cutter will cut that time in half or less. You just opted to tackle this on hard mode. This is almost a guaranteed way to destroy your case. Frozen plastic becomes extremely brittle especially when it’s over 20 years old.
  17. Don't rush the process on our account. We waited a year or more for Nems 3D goodies and everybody is happy. I really do want some parts once you get the process down.
  18. I’ve been running into issues left and right after swapping from and OpenXenium with the HD+ to Nemesis Xenium. I finally got everything up and running fine and seemingly no issue at all with the swapping. Updated to the latest PrometheOS and HD+ firmware before the swap. I can play around in Prometheos as long as I want, doing FTP, flashing banks, etc. As soon as I load into Cerbios HD I get the normal XBMC login screen, but that’s as far as I can get. It freezes almost every time I attempt to sign in. Once I was able to login, but it froze when I clicked on apps. I’ve done a full reformat and reinstall of everything. Also have made sure I’m running the latest XBMC4Gamers. I was trying UDMA 6 and then tried UDMA 5 on a brand new 2TB HDD, with the same results. Anyone else ever run into something like this? This is happening on my precious Skeleton that I’ve slowly been trying to get done.
  19. I guess it could be possible that the chip on the Aladdin didn’t get a bios flashed to it. Have you attempted to check that with an external flasher?
  20. Im just going to pretend that you’re releasing that X3 faceplate for me lol.
  21. I've had to put my build on hold due to similar issue with fitment of wires. I've resorted to ordering a whole new bundle of fans and cables to try a cleaner method. Work picked up with the warmer weather and my time is limited now. I'm searching for a right angle ide adapter to plug directly into the motherboard to eliminate the IDE cable entirely. There's a cool Syartech adapter that does this, but doesn't have clearance with the disc tray being in the way. If anyone has ideas of an.adapter like this, please share. Hopefully we can compile a list of all the best fitting and highest quality parts for future buyers of Nemess' kit.
  22. Has anyone tried this adapter yet? I'm close to buying one, but don't want to waste time if it wasn't a good experience.
  23. Please read threads before posting in them. The link is in the very first post.
  24. Oh wow! I definitely would not turn that option down. You’re gonna be the one to push me over the edge and start looking into a 3D printer.
  25. After much delay, I’ve finally got around to getting this beauty started. I’m a stickler for details and my OCD makes me do everything extremely slow lol. She has been fully dissembled, thoroughly cleaned, recapped and pasted, 128MB RAM, and HD+ ready. Taking frequent breaks to tackle weekend chores, but it’s happening and has been a fun time. I get way too much satisfaction taking these things apart and detailing them. @Bowlsnapper I should probably go ahead and get a startech adapter housing from you, but I’d rather wait for the clear version also. Guess I can hold off on that one part for now as it would be the easiest thing to swap out, being right on top. Should have a finished product tonight.
