Sadly Aliexpress is full of fake stuff now. Unfortunately Aliexpress don't seem to care and if you ask for a refund, they'll likely say you cant have a refund because you received the goods. Tell you that you are obviously mistaken. Ask you to send them back as delivered, and give you an address in china and 48 hrs to do so, meaning you’d need to spend a small fortune on a specialist courier to get the order back in time. Seems with them the best options are buy somewhere else, if an item arrives broken etc. just claim for it not arriving. If it arrives broken or otherwise they often will just say no as you received it. Recently the service has got bad, I used to have no issues with them and rarely had a lost package. Now its almost 50/50 if it will arrive or arrive damaged. There are plenty of up and coming suppliers who want a piece of their pie.

Hey! So I softmoded it today using the endgame exploit. So much fun.. So im gathering what i need to change the HDD. I have a spare 2tb drive in my desktop that i can use. Its lockable according to the website.. I searched my attic and found the following in a motherboard cardbox, can anyone please help a noob so im sure im using the correct cable; is this the ide 80 pin cable i need? I has black, blue and white connectors, its from asus and says HDD CABLE: https://ibb.co/hBkM07C (edit: seems to be about 50cm in lenght, and it has black and white connectors close to each other on one end, and a blue connector in the other end far away) Im pretty sure i have a molex splitter somewhere, i have to search further. Any special considerations to be had with the sata adapter? I hear startech is best, but i rather save some money on a cheaper one, unless it is really advisable to use a good adapter. This console likely has some modded files for Pro Evolution Soccer 4 and/or 5 too. These will be Option files for ISO modded PES games that I have on a disc in my folders of burnt discs in the loft. I will check out the files after XCAT has run and if it looks good I will see about finding the disc over the weekend.... If I have both pieces of the puzzle and the discs still work after all these years I will upload and share with you guys

XBMC with the MC360 skin!! INSTANT nostalgia hit there. I remember modding all my mates consoles and adding this skin to them. Already running XCAT on it now to see if theres any hidden gold. So was playing Scaler and replayed a level of Black. It seems IGR now does not work in Scaler at all, I tried four times. But worked three times in Black. When I tried to try it the fourth time I ended on the blank screen and when I tried to reboot I got a Error 9. So now I'm thinking it's just my 17 years old IDE drive.

That's odd if you weren't having that problem before. I'm running xecuter 5035 bios on the tsop for what it's worth.

Now that fox has done this mod, I wanted to point out two things I encountered after doing this mod. 1. IGR seems to get bugged. Before this mod If I pressed the IGR Combo then the Xbox would immediately reboot to the Xbox screen and into dash. Now if I do the same then it just stays at a blank screen with no signal like the Xbox is powered off but it's not, it still is powered on so I have to power cycle it manually through the power button to get back into it. The slight workaround that I found for this was holding the IGR combination keys for a second longer than before it works 6/10 times. Mostly fails in Homebrew (tried on QuakeX by lantus, CelesteX, HydraX, Odamex and SoRRx) but works in Xbox games better but not perfect. I have those bottom of the barrel Aladdin X2 chips running EvoX M8+ with IGR set to Compatible. 2. I'm not sure if this is a causation of the this mod, but Call of Duty 2 is freezing about 30-45 minutes into any level of the Single player campaign. Restarting the console and the game it sometimes goes past the point the game last froze but then also freezes on the next level. I'm hoping this is more a "Bad copy of the game" issue. It is a HDD ready rip not a DVD.

yes, it's a last ditch effort. After all my troubleshooting I reflowed everything in this area and the same area underneath the board, which is the portion that got flexed. It was certainly at least one of those components with a broken joint. It's something to bear in mind when/if you have this problem.

Thanks , I’ll reflow one more time and if it still isn’t detected I’ll remove and order some other replacement chips , will reach out to you for seller’s details should I need it . Reason I asked is I was also thinking maybe these were just a bad batch or DOA as you said .

If that's the case, then I've been lucky. I've had A/V snags all the time when removing the mobo, especially during RAM installs.

Yes... it would frag. I have like, 75 chips from Ali, and they are working great, actually... maybe yours are just DOA, or fake?

I’ll definitely take a look at them. I could certainly see that being possible. They are old and something could need a reflow especially after I took it in and out a few times. Thanks for the idea. I’m willing to try anything at the moment haha

Have you tried using or are you using Cerbios UDMA6 with it ?

I got them off AliExpress mid last year in a pack of 10 , installed it in December and just been using it as 64mb as it’s not affecting anything . If the soldering isn’t correct shouldn’t the console frag on boot as it did previously before the reflow ?

This sounds similar to a problem with my xbox a couple years back. When you were tilting the mainboard to remove it from the case, did the audio-video port get snagged on the port hole and flex the board at all? With my board the problem was a bad joint or joints around the port. Just throwing this idea out there.

Hi all , just wanted to find out by those in the know if these ram modules are compatible for the 128 mb upgrade . I’ve installed all four , failed on all four . Touched up all joints with soldering iron , got the three reboots and Xbox wouldn’t power on , reflowed with hot air station and Xbox goes back to booting as if there’s no extra ram attached . I then replaced one of the ram modules to see if blast would detect it and still nothing . I have no issues accessing Xbox dash or Cerbios flashed Aladdin booting XBMC4Gamers .

That's the older version of the adapter, the newer ones are missing several components on them. I guess they are cheaping out on the production quality now.

So in the last hour and a half or so I has gotten to 51% three times in a row and then reset. It flies through everything up to that point as all has previously been scanned and/or archived and then stops briefly, starts to upload a file from E:\DEMOS and then resets. Hasn't even finished scanning E drive by that point. It is a 6tb drive and has a lot of content on it. I did get as far as 70% once earlier on today. I have been running the app since 9:30 this morning and its now 6:15pm as I write this. Powered off now and will try again in the morning. EDIT- Ran XCAT again this morning, got all the way through to 100%, had 4 files that failed to process even after multiple retries. After saying no to a further retry I got a message about Network errors and asked to restart XCAT. Have doen so and will let it run, if it fails on the same files again I will leave it there and say its complete Strange how it kept failing at the exact same spot yesterday and today has just run through to completion on the first try. Now to move on my other consoles and drives

Ok thanks for the reply. The only other issue I seem to keep having is "Network Error detected, please restart XCAT" but it seems to continue uploading files after that notice has appeared.
