New Profile Caused an Error, Need Some Help

Recommended Posts

everything's been solid for some time now save for a couple of games that simply refuse to work and im ignoring them....., so my wife created a new profile to use instead of using mine so she could set faves and such...seemed like a good idea....but now, no profile works...so im stumped

"script error"script failed xbmc4gamers"

then it pops up a message on the bottom left of the screen

"error script is missing or taking to long to finish, please send me a copy of your xbmc.log file "

i assume the log file thats needed is the /E/xbmc/system..if so..its attached.

xbmc.log

Can you FTP to the Xbox?

Or are you able to use FATXplorer to access the HDD?

The info on F and G drives will still be intact and you maybe able to remove the new profile that was made by FTP or directly on a PC

The profiles are  located in  "profiles.xml" and thats in E:xbmc/system/UserData/

You can edit that with notepad.

I made a profile called remove me

Then as a test was able to remove it by editing the profiles.xml file and deleting the highlighted text

1482212682_xbmcprofiles.PNG.a2eb377c6af09a3953944fc6948a5374.PNG

If that doesn't work you can copy a new xbmc4gamers to E drive and then start again.

Cheers

Just a thought - have you tried running XBPartitioner v1.3 and seeing if there is any ER (error) shown against the extended partitions? Its a 2TB HDD and my first thought when anyone has problems and they're using one is that it wasn't correctly formatted originally.

Would it not be a good idea just to check that, even if only to exclude that as a possible cause of the problem?  If it is nothing suggested here is going to be of any use.

i can ftp in just fine, tryed that dave and it didnt fix it either but was worth a shot and it let me get rid of the extra BS accounts id made trying to bypass the issue

now heres the fun bit, so i was reading thru default.py to understand exactly the where/why of the problem, and ive not touched "code" since before the days of the internet..way before dialup was even a thing, so my understandings is rudimentary at best, and was something i learned on both a TI-994A as well as later a "lobo" home computer with 12inch floppys

anyway i noticed its pointing at an issue overwriting "udat" files or making new ones..not really sure but the "line 79" is udat stuff..so as an experiment i copied all the entire UDAT file to my pc then deleted it on the box, fired it up and problem gone..along with all my saves the problem was gone, ZERO issues everything functioning as it should....but my saves...so i ftp'ed back in again tossed all of the UDAT file in over top of what had newly been created and saves returned and issue still gone

so i fixed it, but i worry this isnt a permanent fix....and have no clue as to what "caused" the issue...so if anyones got some insight on what i did vs whats going on../..im all ears, but at the very least if it happens to someone else heres a quick fix that worked this time

Good to see you have sorted it.

On all the setup's I use xbmc4gamers I set it to autoload the main and only profile, and the one I set up for a friends kids I locked it so they could not easily edit any settings.

i was hoping i could get away with not locking it down just so i had unrestricted access to everything, but after this lil hicup im thinking i m just going to lock it down ...still curious as to what happened, the only thing i can think of is either a udat folder had a minor corruption or somehow managed to lose permissions, which would make more sense with the error it was spitting out

It is hard to say why it became corrupt may be a power glitch

In the lock mode it limits it to selecting a user then what game or apps to play, where auto login loads a user as a default and then it's ready to select a game so everyone is on the one profile.

Cheers

The UDATA folder probably had its property set to read only and XBMC follows these properties.

Unfortunately XBMC creates folders sometimes with read only attribute set and this means you can’t rename it eg... via python 🤷‍♂️

only way to fix is what you done. Copy it off and create the folder via the FTP app and copy stuff back over. (Or you can do it all on the Xbox 🤷‍♂️)

Hello, I am stuck in a pickle and hope someone can help.
I just TSOP flashed in my Xbox and it is now stuck in a boot loop. The Xbox logo appears along with the Microsoft logo and then the system resets to do it again. I first installed the rocky 5 softmod, used the bios checker disc to make sure it was ready to flash (it displayed "TSOP?") and then used the TSOP flash mode of the extras disc to flash the system. everything went like normal and then after the BIOS was flashed and the system rebooted it just kept rebooting itself. It is at the 3:56 mark in the attached video
. I'm new at this and out of my element here, please help.

I have a backup of my entire softmod/og xbox hdd that i did when i did the softmod on it. It's in a .iso file. It contains everything on it from c,d,f partitions and has the backup of the eeprom in it. My evolutionx dash, skins, few programs like dvdtoxbox. I softmoded it with the sid 5.0 and game exploit, had Evolutionx dash. The hdd i upgraded to 360gb hdd. I must have made the backup before i started burning games to the drive. I have no clue what i did with the original drive, i probably chucked it as i had the backup.
How do i take this backup .iso and put it on a new hdd to put in my xbox as there doesn't seem to be any tutorials on doing this specifically?

      So bit of background;
I'm not a noob to softmodding og xbox's, but last time i did a softmod was before the rocky5 method existed.
My xbox is stuck on and will only boot to the xbox dash after an error 21. This happened after i accidentally clicked on connect to xbox live on call of duty and it updateed. I read somewhere there are 2 files you need to delete once a game is copied to hd in order to prevent this, but i can't remember what they are? Any help there would be good to.

I cannot ftp into the hdd anymore as ftp won't find the console. Also i tried burning the Hexen2018 to disk, but that won't boot, and have since learned you need softmod dash for it to boot so no luck there.
Next i tried xboxhdm23usb beta3 as i have a few spare external 2.5 dives in external enclosures. Only thing i did here was put the eeprom in root folder and tried basic build as is first to see if it will work. But again no luck. It finds the hdd's, but keeps coming up with -h and -d errors  when i choose option 5 or xboxhd program.

I have a BGA rework station and decided to upgrade the CPU in my v1.0 xbox because why not. The operation went fine, except when removing the awful plastic clips for the heatsink attachments, my screwdriver slipped and knocked off 2 components. I did not notice this until after the operation.

One component knocked off was the RP5N1 100 Ohm terminator block for the RAM. This was easy to replace. The other component knocked off was the R5N1 resistor.

None of the resistors around it report any consistent value, so I can't just guess at it. A 128MB RAM upgrade guide here https://quade.co/2018/xbox-128mb-ram-upgrade/ actually has a picture of this resistor with the value printed on it, but the image is too blurry to read. On v1.0 this resistor is just blue with no value, but it looks like some version between 1.1 and 1.5 actually has the value printed on the resistor. If I could get that value, then I can fix the FRAG. I would hate to buy a 1.0 board just to get this resistor value.
I would really appreciate it if someone could get me images of the resistor value. It cannot be measured with a multimeter as one end has a really big cap on it, but maybe getting that reading would still be useful to me to narrow guessing at values (resistance will be something higher than what is read).
Also lesson learned: When removing the heatsink bracket screw clips, just chop them off and replace them with screws/nuts. It's way safer for your board.
