Questions About Repairing a Halo Edition 1.6 XBox

So I got a Halo Edition Xbox off of ebay to find that it only stays on for 20 minutes before shutting off, the power button does not function, naturally I thought of corrosion on the traces. Upon examining the underside of the board I found no visible corrosion, my question is, which traces do I need to jump in order to fix it? I'm a bit stumped, any help would be much appreciated.

If it's a version 1.6 I would suspect the capacitors near the power connector especially the ones next to the heat sink.

The trace damage is normally limited to the 1.0 -1.4 board from the clock cap.

I would suggest you post a pic of the main board

It's not a 1.6 it will be a 1.2-1.4 and date wise properly a 1.4 and those caps need replacing and you will probably find it has trace damage from a  leaking clock cap..

Have a look at the bottom of the main board along the front there is 4 traces that will be damaged.

My bad, I was told it was a 1.6 by someone I was talking to on the Original xbox reddit.

I have looked at those same 4 traces over and over again with a magnifying glass, and there is no visible corrosion, I'm going to double check with a multimeter.

be certain to get rid of the clock capacitor.

That's quite common as it's around the changeover time and the 100% way is to open it.

I would change the caps 1st and as bulkchart32 has said remove the clock cap then loosely reassemble it and test it again.

Also have a good look at the PSU for bad solder joints especially at the 2 pin AC power connector and around the middle of the PSU board.
