Origins - Cannot get MS Dash to load...where is it?

I have the Origins package on my 2TB drive, which is locked to the console and I cannot get the MS Dash to load. The system freezes.

Questions:

Can you confirm that the MS Dash is actually included?

If not, where do I put it? I have read the stories of people tampering with the menu or structure and having things "blow up".

I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thanks.

The origins image does not have the ms dash present in C:. And in fact, there is only a few kilobytes available in C due to the fact that there is some gigantic pointless image file related to a softmodding exploit, I think. So you can't even add it.

I wrote the image to a drive and then used the OGXbox installer disc to format C and E and install xbmc. The installer will install the ms dash for you automatically.

I had to revisit this topic because I was installing the Origins 2TB image for someone else that also wanted to keep the Origins opening menu and use Insignia.

After going back through my notes and doing a bit more research I found this post from BombBloke on Reddit responding to the question: What are some ways I can restore the C drive with real Xbox dash files for setting up Insignia?

Right, so that's an NKpatcher-based softmod sitting alongside some CerBIOS startup animation files, and what I guess is a shortcut that presumably leads off to your UnleashX install.

Leave the bios folder, BootAnims folder, the media folder, evoxdash.xbe file, and evoxdash.cfg file where they are. Delete all other files and folders on C (yes, including the "do not touch" directory - which you would be leaving well alone if you weren't hardmodded!). Extract the files from this archive into place alongside what's left. Attempt to start the MS dash again.

You might be able to remove the media directory too, off the top of my head I'm not sure what's in that one. It's probably not taking up too much space, though.

In my case, I had not installed CerBIOS, so I did not have the BIOS or BootAnims folder. I deleted everything except the media folder, evoxdash.xbe and evoxdash.cfg and then copied over a clean drive C from the archive package. There was plenty of space for the fresh C drive files. After that, I ran UnleashX, selected the System menu option, then Dashboards and then ran the MS Dashboard from there. I was able to access the MS Dash Settings options and then my Network settings.

DISCLAIMER: As noted by BombBloke, a softmodded system might actually need some of those files. I suggest only making the above changes on a hardmodded system.
