  1. This is a little project I worked on from October 2024 to January 2025 with help from Skye and HoneySoakedSegull. Original idea by Siktah (he had been nagging me about this for a year). Before anyone comments or asks, yes this just transfers the solder skill requirement from the repair person to the board assembler/merchant. This isn't something everyone needs, and I think it's rather pointless, as I just do my own trace repairs. That being said; not everyone has precision soldering equipment, not everyone has fantastic magnification to do their solder work, and not everyone has the effort for traditional front panel trace fixes. Without further ado I present Hugin and Munin trace fix cards and the D0-ET board. Siktah and I entered these as an exhibition entry into Xbox-Scene Modfest 2024: https://www.xbox-scene.info/articles/xbox-scene-modfest-2024-celebrating-homebrew-innovation-and-the-modding-scene-for-xbox-xbox-360-xbox-one-and-xbox-series-x-r54/ The boards are to be used in pairs, 1x Hugin (A) board and 1x Munin (B) board per repair. all 1.0 and 1.1 boards use one set of boards, all 1.2-1.6 boards use a different set. They require a 25cm ish 0.5mm pitch, 4-pin flex cable to jump between the two boards, and you only enable the trace repairs you require on the Munin (B) board. The flex connector must be folded 90 degrees one time to for the contacts to like up correctly. The red front panel LED is the least likely trace to fail, but it also doesn't have nearby "friendly" test points either. So a wire going from the RED pad on the B board to an alternate test point on the motherboard will be required. Unfortunately some boards don't have an easy to solder test point for the Red LED, so it may be easiest to solder right to the SMC. I am currently writing up install instructions and gathering fresh board images for every board rev. Here are some early "quick and dirty" images for 1.4 and 1.6: I made the FPC connectors quite large to support a huge variety of connectors, though I do include documentation on the bottom of each PCB for the needed resistors and a compatible FPC connector. You can also use top only, bottom only, or top+bottom FPC connectors as long as you use a "reverse direction" flex cable with one set of contacts on the top, and one set of contacts on the bottom if you use top or bottom only FPC connectors. As an added bonus, EqUiNoX repeatedly requested a simple, multifunction D0 board. So alongside Hugin and Munin I designed D0-ET as part of this set. Aside from protecting your D0 point from accidental damage from pulling on a wire the D0-ET (pronounced duet) has 3 possible functions: grounding out the D0 point directly giving a larger pad to solder to, to connect to a modchip with a simple D0 pad like an OpenXenium, ModXo boards, or an X2 / X3 wire harness giving a JST-SH 1.0mm 2-pin connector to connect directly to a modchip like Xenium Ice, Xenium Gold, or various ModXo boards An earlier (less well fitting) revision of this board can be seen installed on the 1.4 motherboard picture above. I am finally learning more about git and specifically github with the release of the Skeleton Key branded USB adapters (based of xbox7887's USB adapter, with support, permission and an overly permissive license). https://github.com/OGXHarcroft/Xbox-Skeleton-Key-USB-Adapter The gerbers for all 5 of these boards are already on the Xbox-Scene discord in the Modfest channel as of roughly 6 months ago and some sellers have already started selling them. Hugin and Munin FP Trace Fix boards are also coming soon to a github near you!
  2. Hello together Hope to get some help signed up espacially for this issue I have a xbox version 1.3 with error code 16, so i bought a modchip while booting top left in the screen there is a „x“ Symbol. modchip is a Duo x 2 Problem is After this screen there is again an error 16 Message. Below the the cable i have soldered, d0 has already been corrected with a thinner wire. Backround to the console, i had done a tsop before and changed the hdd. Big Problem i don‘t know where the „new“ hdd is located. So i only have the original hdd onhand. Also some of the traces had corrisions, that is the reason of the additional wires. I‘m also sorry for my english as i‘m originaly living in Germany hope i explained it good enough that you Can understand my Problem
  3. Underclocked 1ghz Xbox to 735mhz by patching the bios to 107mhz FSB (using XBoverclock by WulfyStylez). It fixed GTA Vice City and Rallisport 2, which XBEpatcher (by mwaterbu) did not manage to fix. Not sure if works for all games, but seems like it should. This probably could be loaded by Phoenix Bios Loader or can be on a modchip bank, waiting to be selected when needed.
  4. The XBox game Thief Deadly Shadows (Thief 3) has a serious bug. If you select a harder skill setting than 'normal', then when the game performs a load (either loading a save game, or when you reach a load point in the game's levels), then the difficulty would be set back to normal, which removed much of the challenge, as the game's AI was much more alert on higher skill levels. The PC version was fixed by fans, but of course the XBox never received the fix. A few days back, I posted on the Through the Looking Glass forum (https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152823) hoping for more information (and also hoping that the problem would be a very easy fix, such as just editing .cfg or .ini files), and (brilliantly!) the author of the fix answered, but I'm not able to do anything with the information. So if anyone proficient with XBox programming could look at the reply, and attempt to get the XBox version of the game fixed, then that would be really good. Thief 3 is a great game, but the difficulty level is really nerfed because of this bug, sadly.
  5. Hi All, I have a long holiday coming up and to fill the time and challenge my self I bought some broken mainboards from eBay. As you can see from the photo, this boards is butchered! I was wondering if I can use the 1.6 upgrade method to add the missing memory ic?
  6. I was given Two OG XBOX PSUs but both have 2 missing components One PSU is Delta and belongs to OG Xbox 1.4 revision One PSU is Delta and belongs to OG Xbox 1.6 revision Fuse and varistor are missing in the PSUs, parts are not in the board, someone removed them. i think the owners connected them to 220v (here we have 220v , not 110v in the wall plug) and that caused the fuse to blow up, and varistor to blow up. Just like in the Wii power brick when connected to 220v So i spent some hours trying to figure out what the original components were for those PSUs, searching on forums and i was not able to find the complete info This is what i found online for each OG xbox model, in terms of original components it came with: OG Xbox 1.4 Power supply Varistor= Unknown? I was not able to find information online about this varistor. Fuse: 250v 3.15A (8.35x7.7mm) - OG Xbox 1.6 Power supply varistor: TVR 20241X Fuse : 250v 4A 20mm long - Maybe someone here on reddit knows more about these missing components so Here are my questions for OG Xbox 1.6 revision: The FUSE for OG xbox 1.6 revision, the PCB has printed "250v 4 Amps", and By looking at pictures on ebay i see they originally used a normal Glass Fuse 20mm long, but my question is: DOES IT NEED TO BE A FAST BLOW FUSE? OR SLOW BLOW FUSE? The VARISTOR for OG xbox 1.6 revision is TVR 20241X, but here that part is hard to find, can i use any of these as replacement? S20K150 or 20N241K or 20D241K ? (datasheets images are below) Here are my questions for OG Xbox 1.4 revision: The FUSE for the OG xbox 1.4 revision, the PCB has printed "250v 3.15 Amps", and by looking at pictures on ebay i see they originally used a circle encapsulated in plastic fuse, but again my question is: DOES IT NEED TO BE A FAST BLOW FUSE? OR SLOW BLOW FUSE? The VARISTOR for OG xbox 1.4 revision is UNKNOWN, I was not able to find online what type of varistor they used in that PSU, can i use the same varistor as in the 1.6 revision? here are images of the 1.4 fuse, along with what i was able to find available where i live for the 1.6 revision varistor, I hope someone can help me find the correct replacements

    Hyperkin fix

Hello everyone. For those out there who bought a cable from Hyperkin (Errors include flickering and stripes in the image) https://www.ebay.de/itm/224656844177?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=707-53477-19255-0&campid=5338765356&toolid=20006&customid=DE_1249_2246568 44177.150559540510~ You don't have to throw it away, it gives a solution. The converter and the HDMI cable themselves are tip top. Only the cable from the Xbox to the converter is rubbish. The shielding of the individual cables is simply missing. Unsolder it and use an old VGA cable. Follow this topic: The picture will be perfect. I can't tell any difference to a normal original component cable.

  10. Moderator Edit: Hey all. Currently having issues with my xbox. Have opened it 3 times now to re-examine it, and I have NO idea what I need to do to get it to turn on again. Here's a video I made showing the mobo, and explaining everything I've done and checked. Please let me know what you think, I'd love to do whatever I can to avoid needing to buy another box. Literally any help at all is greatly appreciated, please let me know. I read around some more and I've read it Might be a blown transistor, (As this seems to be a common problem with 1.6 mobos, which I believe mine is, last time I checked. Was a couple years ago, tho I'm pretty confident it's a 1.6.) or that I might need to solder new capacitors, or new cable, etc. Man, I'm just wondering if these might just be too old to buy anymore. Seems like nowadays they just break out of nowhere, and no matter how many I buy and replace, they just break down anyways Any way to prevent that from happening? Is there any kind of scene out there to completely overhaul these things to make them actually last longer than a few years? Please let me know what I should do, and Thanks in advanced! Here's a video I recorded to showcase the issue I'm encountering: Not sure why the black background with black font color for the original text: <End Edit> Hey all. 12. Hi, So just the other day, i got a new 2TB Hard installed into my Modded Xbox and I was about to start copying games to my xbox but was having issues with the DVD Drive not recognising any disks any more. While this was happening I decided to play around with the Skin on my installation of DVD2Xbox. I ended up choosing Windows XP Skin. Now the Application starts up with the application splash screen and then goes to a black screen. I am assuming that the skin isn't installed or is broken, so I am getting a black screen. Is there a way to find and fix a config file for dvd2xbox via FTP? and if so how?
  13. Any alternative places to solder? Accidentally lifted the wire under trace A while following the guide
  14. This is a skin was designed for HD display using component cables. Fixed: Media player meter was the wrong colour. Video link https://youtu.be/R7JTBkKLInc Link for the Skin file: https://www.mediafire.com/file/k4igcm71c7fu3yz/Desklife_p.zip/file
  15. the buttons on one of my controller are starting to take a lot of pressure to activate. the xbox buttons are not normal controller buttons with removable pads like most controllers have. so how do i fix it?
  16. I recently tried to softmod my old xbox and bricked the hdd due to not ejecting the game disc in the end of the installation process. Now the dashboard is gone and I can't even boot retail games using the machine. I just bought an xbox with a modchip (xecuter 2) and I'm wondering if I could swap the hdd in the modded xbox with the bricked xbox and install the ms dashboard from a disc.
  17. i tried this fix https://web.archive.org/web/20090203223828/http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/ComaConsole.htm and it changed nothing. i've heard a mod chip would work. can anyone give me info on this? preferably a cheap one since i don't even know if the xbox is any good.
  18. Hi people, i bought an softmoded OG Xbox a couple of months ago with an 80GB Ide hard drive. I wasn't able to use it because i needed to get an Voltage converter (v220 to v110, 300W) and i wasn't able to test it untill now. During that time i replaced the thermal paste following some tutorials and cleaned the upper case. Now that i have the converter the console won't turn on. It doesn't make any noise. I checked the capacitors and all of them seem to be alright (Flat on the top and no leaking) and i tried with a different power cable and nothing. Thanks for your time. Here are some pics of the console. https://imgur.com/a/3XkDNpe https://imgur.com/a/h9GBXQS
  19. ´hello guys, nice to meet you all, i recently got a modded xbox and i got coinops8 running on it, i played some good ol banjo kazooie before moving onto the main game i bought the system for, jet set radio, after ftping everything it just boots up into the sega logo and freezes, any help would be appreciated as i am a complete noob in this, i deleted the stuff in the x y and z partition and it semed to advance maybe a second more before freezing again, any help?
  20. i get dirty disc error, any hdd fix or tutorial?
  21. Okay, I don't have a ton of time but I just found a way to play games such as JSRF, Fable, and the others on a 1.6 console without disc swapping, requiring the original dash, anything. This, however requires a softmodded console with UnleashX (May work on other dashboards, I have not tested) The steps are as follows: Turn on your console and allow it to get to the dashboard. Select system, then settings. Go all the way to the bottom where Video Display is and select it. Turn off 480p and if not turned on, turn on 720p, and 1080i. Then, have fun and launch your game, I believe this actually forces it into 480i which is not accessible from unleashx. I found this out by playing with the settings, you sadly can't play in 480p, but hey, that's the price to pay, I'm just trying to give an option to you folks with UnleashX.
  22. https://redmine.exotica.org.uk/projects/xbmc4xbox/repository/revisions/33032 pay attention to the folder structure. replace both tmdb.xml files to fix the scraper issues you may have encountered. this is a welcome fix for anyone that plays media off the hdd (or over the network) with xbmc. classic collection for camp now has a stunning amount of synopsis info and fanart.... i could have done it on the mxq but this is way cooler.... why??? ALL THE GAMEZ

  24. Hello everyone, I recently bought an Xbox and on the first day I turned it on and it booted up fine. Days later I am now trying to turn it on again and nothing. No lights, no sounds. I have another Xbox and the cable works fine. What do I need to do to fix this issue!
