Have a 1.0 Xbox and upon boot has no video, I have read enough to check traces and caps. Traces look decent and continuity checks appear to be happening as expected. The caps appear fine and they test within tolerance CPU/GPU, even so I ordered a set to replace to be sure. What I do not understand is the DVD doesn't respond to the eject button, I replaced IDE and power with a known working drive and same result, just flashing eject. Could this be a symptom of the caps needing to be replaced or could this be something else?

I have a 1.4 motherboard with bulging green Sanyo caps below the CPU. I ordered board, power supply, and clock cap kits from Console5 to do the repair. I replaced all power supply caps, reinstalled and tested, normal boot. The stock Nichicon clock cap hasn't leaked or damaged the board, but I replaced it due to age and it booted normally. I then replaced the CPU caps with the provided 6.3V 3300uF caps and I get 3 boot frag. I removed the new caps and reinstalled the old and it boots as normal. Thinking the 6.3V caps may be defective, I then tried the supplied 10V 3300uF caps but still 3 boot frag. I again reinstalled the bulging green OEM caps and system boots. I double checked my power supply solder joints and also re-flowed for good measure. I have experience and success with micro soldering and don't believe my soldering is the problem. Especially since I've reinstalled the original bulging capacitors multiple times and the system again boots. Could one of the other board capacitors be causing the issue when new CPU caps are installed?

Hello! Tried with multiple pico and RP2040 boards but cant get to boot Cerbios from PrometheOS. PrometheOS starts fine, I can change settings, flash bank for BIOS etc. With Pico If I try to boot bank then console restarts. With RP2040 then it is just black screen. When only Cerbios is flashed on chip then it boots fine. If LPC 3,3V wire is disconnected from modchip then everything works but then it wont reset the chip when turned on. Does anybody has some idea what might cause this? Wiring and soldering is good, I have reflowed all connections and thoroughly checked everything several times.

Hi everyone, this has me in a permanently befuddled state and I hope you mad scientists can help if I'm missing something obvious. I bought this Aladdin XT clone from eBay with two others. Those worked fine and they're long gone to good homes. This one however, has an odd problem. I've been able to get it to boot on several not-1.6 consoles, but I can't get it to boot on any 1.6. I've tested it with a 1.0, 1.4 and my own personal 1.1. It was loaded with EvoX and booted fine. So I put it in a 1.6 and it would FRAG. Wouldn't even boot my Hexen CD. I put it back in my 1.1 and flashed it with the 1.6 version of EvoX. Standard ecc 256k. It confirmed the flash was successful, so I tried putting it back in the 1.6 console. Still FRAGged. I figured my LPC rebuild wasn't solid. Rechecked the solder points and tried booting an OpenXenium chip...that booted just fine. Am I missing something? Thanks all!

HI! I'm new here, but I have been consulting the subreddit for some time now, but I thought I may try here too. I had some trouble softmodding my original Xbox last month. I was attempting Rocky5's Endgame and every single time it gives me flashing red/yellow/green lights. I have read that this indicates a success, but then it never boots into the dashboard. I've tried dozens of times, and tried different cables and settings - none of which worked. I attributed this to the dying HDD which I have since upgraded to an SSD, however, even after the upgrade I am still getting the same problems. Since I have upgraded my SSD, I have all the required and necessary cables to unlock and relock the SSD, so I could just remove it, unlock it, add the softmod files, and then relock it and see if that works. What files do I need to add to the SSD? And what partition do I put them in for it to work properly? Also, once I get the Rocky5 softmod working, I'd like to switch it to a "stock" dashboard to give it a more authentic feel. Where can I find the file for that and how can I add it on? My disk drive is for sure bad, even after a recap, so my next best thing would be to download the games from the disks I have and upload them straight to the SSD, but I need the Rocky5 softmod for that to work. For reference, I have a 1.0 Xbox with a Thomson drive. I upgraded the HDD to a Western Digital SSD. The kernel is 1.00.4034.01 and the current dashboard is 1.00.5960.01. The SSD upgrade works perfect (minus the not reading disks), so I shouldn't run into any issue with it if I do it right.

Hi guys, I finally managed to finish it, although it can still be improved. If ever when I have more free time, I will improve the things I left pending. I present to you my tool to change the boot video on Cerbios console. The program is made on "unleashx" basis and after a first installation it allows you to easily change the boot video. The software also has a section that allows you to add 10 user-defined videos. Its operation is basic; after a first installation (multilingual Eng-Ita-Fra-Spa-Deu) it will no longer be necessary to run the software but simply start what is installed on the console. During the installation you will be asked for the preferred language, if the cerbios.ini file has already been modified, and that's it. If you make a mistake in installing the version, it will not work but it will not cause any damage and to fix it you will just have to run the installer again. The version for unedited files points to the C:\BootAnims\Xbox folder; the one for edited files points to the C:\BootAnims\XMV Player folder. Instead, to load your own custom videos in XMV format, just place them in the "Custom video" folder inside the main directory of the installed program naming them Video1, Video2, Video3, etc. up to Video10; once loaded, you will see the video preview in the appropriate section https://mega.nz/folder/Fw43EK6T#5aefTyT2JD4lvvKuMdsPrw https://github.com/XXGekoXX/MAIN-video-selector/tree/main If you think that the hours I have dedicated with passion could have led to something useful and you want to offer me a beer or even just a coffee to thank me, click on the link [https://paypal.me/gbaldanza?country.x=IT&locale.x=it_IT] thank you very much The work you find on this page is the result of a lot of passion and a lot of time dedicated to the old and dear Xbox original, I did not invent anything because I simply have together different notions found on the net and everything I did is simply to safeguard my console and my legally owned games. I AM AGAINST ANY FORM OF PIRACY AND I DO NOT WANT TO FACILITATE IT IN ANY WAY, therefore if this is your goal, please change page I would like to particularly thank those who helped me bring this project to light -Agxboxmod Ale: For the moral support and for always being there when I need a hand (even when I don't ask for it) -Nikeymikey: for having done a good part of the covers and for having helped me significantly in finding the errors -Andrea Tombolesi: for giving me total availability in the search for errors by dedicating himself totally to thems -Daniele Cecchin: for being my Beta Tester (immediately when I needed it) -Alfa Juliet: for being my Beta Tester (immediately when I needed it) -Mirko Riva: for being my Beta Tester (immediately when I needed it) -Giuseppe Privitera: for being my Beta Tester (immediately when I needed it) -Jay: for helping me with the company to understand how IDs work *Team Resurgent: for making it all possible *Dark Destiny: For being an inspiration to me *Rocky5: for all the work he does preview.mp4

I have a v1.1 that was modded when i bought it, i added an open xenium mod chip and did the 128mb upgrade with xblast on my open xenium. chips are all successful and xblast loads fine, when i add a new bios to my chip and try to boot that bios i get either flashing green light or solid green with no video with every bios other than xblast bios. Xblast boots no issue from ox menu but no other bios will. it either solid green led or flashing green with no video on screen . I have replaced almost every cap on the board and it still does the same thing. any help would be appreciated wont boot stock hdd either booting perfectly to ox menu and xblast but no other is a very weird issue in my experience and this isnt my first mod

I want to copy large amounts of data from one Xbox OG HDD directly to another by connecting them both on a PC with two P-ATA channels. With the older XboxHDM 1.9 and 2.2a (which are essentially Linux distro's supporting FATx booted from CD) I can mount the F-partition of both drives using "mount -t fatx /dev/hda55 /media/source" & "mount -t fatx /dev/hdc55 /media/dest". But the problem is that these versions show corrupted file names. But with XboxHDM23USB all the file names are correct. I can even use both of my drives if I launch it manually. But because it's running in QEMU the copying is very slow Now the FATx driver is in the kernel and 1.9 and 2.2a uses the same kernel. Only 2.3USB has a newer kernel, maybe that's where the problem is. So I wanted to boot this 2.3USB version on real hardware. I took the "kernel" and "initrd.gz" and tried booting it using ISOLINUX and PXELINUX, but it just stuck at "Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.". How can I make the kernel and initrd.gz from XBoxHDM23USB booting on real hardware? With 1.9 and 2.2a on real hardware all filenames are corrupted: With 2.3USB it works, but is very slow because it runs in QEMU: But I can't get the 2.3USB version to boot on real hardware using ISOLINUX of PXELINUX:

So its been awhile since I've gotten back into the modding scene, but followed some of the tutorials, and was able to get a donor DVD drive to get my modding to occur. The error I'm getting is when disconnecting the DVD drive from the IDE cable, I get the Cerbios Error 13 code and it reboots into safemode selecting UDMA 2 (which is the default for what I configured in the Cerbios tool anyways) and never is able to boot to the dash. If I have the DVD drive IDE cable connected (no power or with power, either or), it will boot to the dash. My goal is to make this a slim boot, and I need to use the DVD drive in another console, so I want the ini or bios configured to bypass the configuration. So the basics: 1.1 TSOP Cerbios 2.4.2 (up to 1mb by copying the export from the configuration on Cerbios Tool) Using stock IDE cable for the configuration and a 4TB with Startech adapter. Adapter jumper set to Master config (also tried as cable select but same issue) Flashed worked fine, boots to Dashboard no problem with DVD Drive connected and 4TB drive. Config file loaded into C drive and its contents below ; Cerbios Config ; Check For AV Pack AVCheck = true ; LED Ring Color, G = Green, R = Red, A = Amber, O = Off FrontLed = GGGG ; Fan Speed 0 = Default, 10-100 = Manual Control, Supports increments of 2's FanSpeed = 0 ; Drive Setup ; 0 = HDD & DVD, 1 = HDD & No DVD (Legacy Mode), 2 = HDD & No DVD (Modern Mode), 3 = Dual HDD ; I have tried this with both 1 and 2, no difference made DriveSetup = 1 ; Set UDMA mode 0-6 On Cold-Boot UDMAMode = 2 ; Set Master Drive UDMA mode 0-6 on cold-boot UDMAModeMaster = 2 ; Set Slave Drive UDMA mode 0-6 on cold-boot (if enabled by DriveSetup = 3) UDMAModeSlave = 2 ; Enables Automatic Time Sync With Optional RTC Hardware Connected to SMBus RTCEnable = false ; Forces AV Modes That Would Normally Be Rendered At 480i to 480p.Requires 480p Set In MS Dash And Component Cables Force480p = false ; Forces VGA Modes For Component Cables Or Custom VGA Cables Using Mode(2 + 3) for VGA Displays Only, This Enables Force480p By Default & Sets Console To NTSC ForceVGA = false ; Load XDK Launcher/XBDM if it exists (Debug Bios Only) Debug = false ; Blocks Games From Updating The Original Xbox Dashboard, Useful for softmods BlockDashUpdate = false ; CD Paths (always falls back to D:\default.xbe) CdPath1 = CdPath2 = CdPath3 = ; Dash Paths (always falls back to C:\xboxdash.xbe) DashPath1 = C:\evoxdash.xbe DashPath2 = C:\avalaunch.xbe DashPath3 = C:\nexgen.xbe ; Boot Animation Path (always falls back to C:\BootAnims\Xbox\bootanim.xbe) BootAnimPath = C:\BootAnims\XBOX\bootanim.xbe Thanks for the help in advance.

Hello all CERBIOS will try and boot from a CD if there is one inserted at boot. This means if it’s a game or music CD then nothing happens! i want to change the bios but I am unsure of what line of text I am supposed to change? firstly I am very impressed with the new CERBIOS update. if you are having any problems currently please update to the latest… I am not very technically minded. When I updated the bios I had to use the actual NEW file that came with the V2.2.0 zip and change the boot directory! It wouldn’t except me just copying the text to the old one! I have a dual bank modchip so on the CERBIOS bank I would like to change the bios file to “NOT TRY TO BOOT FROM CD IF PRESENT” . I am happy to do the button combination at boot using IND_BIOs if I ever wanted to use a HEXEN disk. please can you assist

Hey all, tl;dr Started to recap my 1.4, testing as I went. Board eventually started to 3 boot frag, cannot get it to recover. Did I break it beyond repair? So, I replaced the power supply that I accidentally blew up and all was good. Since I noticed that the caps by the CPU were bulging, I figured I might as well replace them before going any further so I ordered a full board cap kit from Console5. I've recapped other devices before, but I guess I must have been lucky because this gave me problems immediately. The multi-layer board and large ground planes made it extremely difficult to get caps out and clear the vias of left over solder. I don't have a hot air station or board pre-heater or anything like that which I'm sure would have made things much easier (one bedroom apartment with two people and a cat, space is at a premium). Since I was afraid I was doing damage to pads/internal board layers getting caps and solder out, I made sure to test the system after replacing every few caps. I decided not to do the whole board since I was having difficulty, and would stop after these last few. Well, after replacing those last few the system no longer boots. Here's what I'm getting: The first few times I tried booting, I got the 3 boots and FRAG. I reflowed some solder on questionable joints and got a solid green light, but no AV (seems to indicate inability to load a BIOS). Unplugged my modchip, but same issue. While not impossible, it seemed unlikely that both the onboard BIOS (this board was previously TSOPed) and the modchip BIOS would be corrupted so I felt I must have done too much board damage somewhere and maybe destroyed an internal trace or something. After going back and forth checking all the caps I replaced and even trying to solder from the top side to ensure a through-and-through connection (please, forgive me), I wound up at: 3 boot FRAG when modchip installed, but solid green no AV with modchip uninstalled. This led me to think that maybe there was an issue with the LPC though I hadn't touched that area since I originally installed the pin header 4 years ago. I reflowed those joints and moved the D0 wire from the Aladdin chip to a ground/screw hole on the board. Continuity between LPC pins and their respective traces check out fine on my multi meter. Now I get 3 boot frag with or without the modchip plugged in. Anyone have any advice or see anything in the pictures that I don't? Any help is appreciated. Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/WEKo0vb The caps circled in blue at the ones I replaced and was able to still boot after. The ones in red are the last ones I replaced, no booting since replacing them. All other caps are original.

Hello, I'm new here. I'm from Italy so my english couldn't be perfect, forgive me A friend of mine gave me an Xbox ver. 1.6, he wants me to try to fix that after he careless removed the Aladdin modchip. In other words, he removed it without using a soldering iron; the modchip was directly soldered to LPC holes. He also removed the LPC rebuild. I've got the original HDD still working, so I'd like to bring it back without installing a new modchip. My friend himself would want it alive as a stock Xbox. Here's the link with some pics I've taken: https://imgur.com/a/Fk3W0pI Any suggestions are accepted. Thanks in advance. Max

Hi All, Today I just finished upgrading my 1.4 board with an X3 as the chip to 128mb of ram. The upgrade went great no issues with a hot air rework station. I flashed Xblast OS to one of the banks of the X3 and tested each chip as it was installed, I got a"success" on all 4 chips. Put the board back in and hooked it up, booted into X3 Config Live and the X3 recognizes 128mb of ram. Switched banks to the latest Cerbios release (2.4.1) and the box just hangs at the Cerbios Logo (not the dogs, I know about the issue). Any suggestions on this situation? I tried the 2.3.1 and got the same thing. I tried booting into Cerbios Safe mode with eject and got a black screen (no logo). I tried 2.3.1 udma 2-5. No luck Thanks for your replies, Zagman

OGXBox Boot Menu Just a simple boot menu which offers the function to not just launch your DVD or Dash, you can also set one dash as default if you wish. Ofc FTP is also available set to DHCP (you can change that in the settings). XBlast can be launched from the Misc menu as well as the File Explorer. It may come handy for the one or the other. If you sell pre modded xboxes it can be useful to let the buyer decide what he wants. How ever, here is the DL folder (maybe for updates but it should be bug free), a video which shows the options, and a simple screen shot. Peace. After I power up the console and it goes thru the start sequence it just takes longer than it should, compared to my other consoles. Probably twice as long. Other than that, once booted it works fine. Any ideas?

Hello everyone, I have a !.0 MOBO that I have recently installed Project stellar on along with the HD+ kit from MakeMhz. I had the ribbon cable to the video encoder professionally soldered on but the rest of the install I was able to complete myself. once i reassembled the unit I was able to get it to post with only the mod chip with no DVD or HDD drive but I had no audio only the splash screen. I then completely reassembled to see if it was an issue with no hard drive (shouldn't be i thought to myself) so unsurprisingly it still had no audio (but the picture is OUTSTANDING). anyway I took everything apart to check my work and now seem to have narrowed down the sound issue to hopefully a bad wire included in the kit or a setting issue on the MS DASH feel free to let me know your thoughts on the audio issue as well. BUT when going to try the MS DASH first i reassembled and now the mod chip itself (project stellar) wont boot idk if the xbox is bricked now or what, I seem to get power to the chip as seen by the little green indicator light on the bottom of the chip but the tiny screen does not display anything not even an error code. So I reconnected the chip to my PC and found that the screen itself does in fact work it displays "PC Mode" so I know the screen didn't die and all of the firmware and bios seem to be on the chip and website tells me that the chip is ready for install now. I figure I should get the chip working first before I can do anymore diagnosing on this thing. At this point I am lost. I'm just trying to make a good birthday present for my little brother. please any help is appreciated TIA!

Hi, all I have modded a xbox with an flashable aladin modchip, every thing was fine, flash cerbios, the install xmbc for gamers, give back the xbox to the owner, he was happy. He notice after a few weeks that he got like some wave in the screen, so I search to find that could be from bad caps so he take me back is xbox to check it out. I take it appart to check if I see bad caps and I see nothing, I put back together the xbox and now it's booting and stuck on cerbios screen and when I try to boot with eject it's stuck on cerbios safe mode screen. What could do that and what I could do to resolve this problem ?

I have 2 XBOXes v1.2 and v1.6 with Rocky5 softmod v1.1.6. I was messing around with the NKPatcher and nulled the HDD drive key on one of them before backing up the EEPROM and now it boots up to error 05. It seems I need to format it using the hotswap method, xboxhdm v1.9 and a backup of the Dashboard from the C partition, which I don't have. Can I use the files from the other XBOX? EDIT: I'm probably looking at it fro the wrong angle... when using the hotswap, won't I get access to the backed up EEPROM in the E partition? Can it be used to restore the HDD?Or is it better to just format it and start from scratch? This subject is still pretty new to me.

Evening, guys, Having Aladdin XT modchip with ind-bios, I wish I could use xbmc4gamer or emustation as a dashboard at boot. I tried to look for a guide to talk about it to a Moon like me but without success. That's the way my partitions are: C Microsoft Dash F Dash no boot (Evolution, xbmc4gamer). Who can tell me the right guide? Thanks to everyone as always.

Hey all. I am needed some help here. Box will boot fine sometimes, and other times, I get no video or audio. Weird part is I get no FRAG. Lights on the box are normal for the boot sequence. All green, no flashing colors. I have a 1.2/1.3 that I TSOP'd and installed the additional 64mb of RAM. RAM all checks out in xblast and in XBMC and clock cap was pulled. Other caps look fine, but replacements are on order. 4tb WD Blue and Startech with 80wire IDE. Just don't know what would be giving me inconsistent boots at this time.

Thanks to SS_Dave I put the OEM dash file on the Xbox to try and boot to there from UnleashX. However when I try to run it I get Error 21. I think it got messed up by whoever soft modded the console before I bought it (it had been sitting in that shop for a few years), but even then I did a clean UnleashX install with Rocky5's tool. I'm pretty confused on what to do. Will I need to put in Halo 2 or something with XBL to update the OEM dash, and then reinstall UnleashX using the Splinter Cell exploit?

Hi all, ive been using the chinese style adapters from ebay but the price has been creeping up on them so thought i would source a bulk from alibaba, they looked the same on the pics so thought i would be good to go, i ordered 10. they work but the console takes ages to go from the xbox splash screen (without the microsoft tag) to the little microsoft tag appearing at the bottom (15 - 20 seconds as opposed to 1 or 2 seconds with the other adapters), once that has appeared they work fine, everything else is the same speedwise. looking at these adapters they actually look better quality, even the master/slave jumper comes in its own little bag, one other thing I've noticed is they work with the standard 40 pin ide cable whereas the other chinese adapters only worked with an 80 pin. anyone had any experience of these?

Hey guys. So I'm working on a softmod and I wanted to try the dual boot with different dashes, and controlling the boots with eject and power. Any help would be much appreciated.
