About Me

  1. Hello everyone! For the last little while I've been working on reviving Xbox Live on the Original Xbox. I've made some good progress along the way including the signature check and even decrypting the time stamp. There was a forum post similar to this on AssemblerGames (Rip that forum) however I feel the need to start from the beginning. I currently have a GitHub repository that will remain to be open source for the duration of development which can be found here: https://github.com/zzVertigo/XboxLive.Server If anyone has any suggestions our happen to notice something that I am a missing it will be much appreciated :P Thanks.

  3. Hi everyone! I am currently seeking any sort of reasonable price for an XDK console. I am in need mainly for debugging my Xbox Live project. (Yes that’s right this entire time I’ve been doing it on a retail console lol) I have scrounged EBay and other places and even these days those are racking up in price. Please keep in mind I ONLY will purchase in CAD (Canadian Dollars)
  4. Hello All. Found this site after buying my first OG Xbox. Looking to learn up on the system and what I can do with it. Thanks!
  5. My Xbox keeps giving me a bogus IP address I've been able to reset it going into system then miscellaneous Advanced Network stopping the FTP server will reset network restart Now that isn't working I've tried changing ports on my router it still gives me a bogus IP Is there any way to fix this
  6. Hey! My name is Murderbox, and I picked up an original Xbox a while ago in a trade. Got it soft modded and have a 1TB HDD installed. Completely new to this realm, but I've always wanted a modded system since I experienced a buddy's back in 05. I hope to learn a lot here and meet some new people! Seems pretty extensive.
  7. Hello I'm new to the Xbox forum,I want to learn as much as i can about it. I want a place to talk about the xbox so I hope I'm in the correct place lol Thanks K-9
  8. Hi guys, First off I want to thank everyone for their help along the way I've learned a lot from this forum sure I could have had other people do it for me But honestly I wouldn't have learned as much but I still have a few questions so I'm going to go ahead and post them here (1) I have a whole bunch of burn CDs for the Dreamcast could my Xbox read them? (2) with my 500gb IDE drives now installed 110 gig devoted new Xbox games another 80 for coin-ops and probably another hundred for SNES What would you add now if you were me (3) I'm thinking of skining my Xbox is there a site still that I can get skins I really don't want to paint the unit I could buy a bus in Xbox and paint it that case and then just transplant my own but I really don't want to go to the time and after that
  9. Okay I'm looking for tutorial to make my own custom skins for my dashboard Has anyone got one what tools do I need
  10. hello all hit me up on kai lets get some games in.
  11. So yeah guys I finally was able to build a composite cable out of another shitty chinese compenent cable. Now I got chimp to show on my screen, and I do everything right but I get this error: Cannot allocate resources And also other similar messages, what does this mean? Is my HDD incompatible, or is it something else? Please guys, I really need some help now, and did I tell you I almost destroy my finger today (it is in bad shape though), the same finger I burned when making the component cable hahahhha, the same hand I also broke some years ago. But please I need your advice guys! Edit: Now I read and it says at one point "No controller found", even though I pressed A and it worked. I am using an original Xbox Japanese controller by the way. Mmm, I don't know what it is and I have done SO MUCH, and finally now... it just doesn't work...
  12. I was testing an Xbox I picked up at the weekend and noticed it freezes during gameplay - would new thermal make a difference or do I need to just use it as a system for parts? Thanks
  13. Hi - I have a 250GB IDE hard drive with Coin Ops 8 Massive on it along with a few of my games backed up to the hard drive using dvd2xbox. I also have a few other emulators - NES, SNES and Sega Megadrive. This is the perfect setup for me and I don't really need to add anything else to it. Is it possible to add the xbox origins dashboard to my current setup and if so does anyone have a link or details on how to do it? Any help greatly appreciated.
  14. So a member of the group was asking for a Dport to dport wire he was asking other members if they had one available because he had one of those LCD screens that go on top of the Xbox and use a proprietary wire that connects from the Xbox to the intec inc screen.. I told him it was easy enough to make that it was just a few wires he could not be bothered. This got me thinking maybe I should make an easy-to-follow schematic for this. I did not do any YouTube searches or Google searches. I clearly went off my HDMI schematic and figured out the rest for myself. There was an image going around that shows the dport but it is backwards it shows the front view so in this image you will see that it's been deciphered so it's easier to follow well soldering. I did make one of these wires and had great success I used all brand new hardware that I purchased a little while ago. It is working great very basic wiring. I'm pretty sure this LCD does not provide video over 480i I think that's pretty much the max resolution I could be wrong on that this wire is designed to Output in 480i or your typical composite video signal. This pinout / schematic can potentially save a lot of money. I have not seen one of those wires alone on eBay it always comes with the screen so if somebody is looking for that wire it could be very costly pretty much what they want to pay for it. Not only that the same schematic can apply to somebody who has an RCA entertainment series Xbox Ready TV which has the proprietary dport input. In order to make this wire you can follow the diagrams exactly. Just make sure you add a few extra feet to the length in between. I know I bought one off Amazon and I think it cost me around 35 with shipping. This wire can be easily made from 2 $5 RCA wires. The schematic itself was made and designed by me maybe that's why it does not look the absolute greatest. I'm more of a Hands-On guy than the computer guy so I apologize but it looks pretty self-explanatory easy-to-follow what you do on one end you want to do on the other end. You should be fine the only concern is the jump wire pin 8 to pin 20... I have found if you only do one of the Xbox connections with this jump that connection has to be the one that's plugged into the Xbox itself. If you hook it up the other way around it will not display. So you can either remember to always plug that one in your Xbox or just make sure you jump both sides on both connectors. In order to not have to worry about that. In any event I hope somebody somewhere can benefit from this schematic took me a couple hours to wire up in a couple hours to make the schematic itself. But if it helps at least one person in the community save money than it was totally worth it 4 wire I just used regular RCA's. I'm guessing if you wanted the best kind of quality on this you can always use Xbox 360 shielded component cable wire since that is a high build grade for sure..for 5.1 audio out just tap into pin #3 ...thank you very much Frank
  15. Hi everyone, I was brought as a kid a modded/chipped Xbox, with unleashx (version 534 I think). A AnywayI was thinking its about time to update it but don't really know how to go about it! I'm unsure of what the modchip is, so I've attached a photo and it has switches/lights on front of console, I don't know if it matters but it is a 1.0 Xbox with fan on heatsink! I have removed clock capacitor! I basically want to update it because 1 the software randomly bugs up and have to restart it a couple of times, 2 want to change settings to NTSC (can't on this version of unleashx) and 3 just because I like messing with things I did download a newer version of unleashx but it said to copy default.xbe, I don't have that file on my c drive it's called unleash.xbe, don't know if I'm looking in right place! Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time and any help
  16. I'm trying all methods of XBOX modding: softmodding with exploit is learned and understood, later steps will be TSOP (v1.2) and modchip (v1.2/v1.6) but for now I decided to replace the original 10GB Seagate HDD with a 80GB 7200rpm Seagate HDD because the original is reporting below 50% health with Acronis Drive Monitor. I went with XBOXHDM 2.2a because I already had a FAT32 flash drive for booting ISOs, so I just extracted the content, added the entries from menu.lst to my menu.lst, copied eeprom.bin to \eeprom folder and extracted v5960 dashboard files from Clean_C_and_E_Files_for_Xbox.7z to \hdm\C. It couldn't be simpler: Boot Slax, run xboxhd2 from command window (phase 2), run xboxhdm to create C/E/F partitions and autocopy the dashboard, lock the HDD with xboxhd2 again, insert HDD in the XBOX. All was OK until I booted the XBOX and was greeted with error 21. A quick Google search indicated it might be related to missing dashboard files, so I checked the C partition content with a quick hotswap, Windows XP and Xplorer360 beta6, and discovered that the files were copied in the 8.3 DOS naming scheme. For example, the "xboxdashdata.185ead00" folder was copied as "xboxda~1.185", the "XBox Book.xtf" file was copied as "xboxbo~1.xtf" and so on. Deleting all files and dropping them into Xplorer360 again solved the naming problem and the XBOX booted correctly. (EDIT: for some strange reason, partition E had duplicated folders: tdata, udata, TDATA and UDATA) So the question is: Why did Slax/QEMU copied the files in 8.3 format?
  17. I've been asked about hot to internally install my HDMI mod into an Xbox. Well i finally found the time and did such an install properly! As i don't like soldering wires all over the place i went a different route and made it a permanent install replacing the original Video Connector. Cause who would use an old composite cable if you have an hdmi out right? Audio is provided through the HDMI signal of course and it supports 5.1. And with the 3D printed plate to cover the rest off the opening it looks perfect in my eyes. And the best part it does almost not need any modification to the Case! Well except trimming a tiny bit off the DVD caddy so it doesn't touch the PCB. The PCB itself does fit into any revision console and is relatively easy to install. Any thoughts about the install?
  18. Does anybody out there know the spec of the pin headers needed for fitting modchips to the lpc port in an Xbox? I want to buy some spare pin headers mainly for connecting my eeprom reader but I also have a few chips with missing pin headers. Has anyone bought any and has a link to the correct size ones? Cheers
  19. I made this video to clear up some questions I had received on my last video and on the post on here
  20. So yes, there is my question. Could there be a way to force AA (Antialising) into Xbox games? Here is the thing, I finally got my Xbox working with an amazingly good component cable, and now everything looks so sharp that it became a jaggy mess to my eyes. But there is one game (that I know of, there must be more) that uses AA, that is Beyond Good and Evil, it uses a very effective AA, so much so that even my CRT looks better (tons better). Could there be a way to implement this? I mean I truly believe the Xbox would be more than capable. Beyond Good and Evil runs like utter crap, with very bad framerate on the PS2, and with less effects, lower resolution and no anti aliasing to speak of! And the Xbox version not only runs at a better resolution, it also has more effects, better textures, runs rock solid and on top of that has super smooth AA (which at the time was very GPU demanding). So that's why I know this could be possible for Xbox games, at least at 480i/480p, but how to implement such a thing, would be the hard part! Let me know guys if there's anything like this! Maybe something like this already exist? Cheers to all
  21. Hi guys can you lock a SSD ? I'd like to replace the X-box Hards with 500 GB SSD if anyone has had luck what models work
  22. Hey guys, it seems that a few of you were looking for this, @KaosEngineer sort of set me a challenge to find it... So a couple of hours or so later.... here it is Link: Mad Dog McRee Xbox Homebrew Port by Jago138 Credit goes to jago138 the original creator Let me know if it works as i have not had time to test it yet but the files all look good to me
  23. Hi - I have an unlocked SATA 500GB xbox drive that is nearly full with games, emulators and the like. I want to make a backup copy of the drive using Raw Copy - any advice or instructions on how to do this? I have a PC with a spare HDD slot and and an external drive caddy. 25. hello everyone. i bought a "virgin" xbox yesterday and just softmodded it. i was going to upgrade the hdd and, with the console powered off (but had the powercable connected) it made a spark near the IDE conector (pic 1) and turned the power down here at home. then i removed the board and saw that below it had shorted something and took a picture (pic 2). does anyone knows if this is reparable? when i turn on the xbox now, the front led changes color and it has no picture on tv. can anyone help??? thanks in advance
