  1. Newer softmod tools - Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool Build 1.1.4 (updated Jan 6, 2018) There are now 4 exploitable games with game saves to install the softmod save files: 007: Agent Under Fire Splinter Cell MechAssualt Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Also Rocky5's latest creation, XBMC-Emustation at https://github.com/Rocky5/xbmc-emustation/ There were ATX power supply mods from http://diy.sickmods.net/Our_Products/ATX_PSU_Converter/About/ years ago. Don't think they are available any longer, not in production, store closed. Xbox Classic Slims Down - https://technabob.com/blog/2008/10/10/xbox-classic-slims-down-to-fighting-weight/. Not sure why the mention of Xbox 360 as this is a ogXbox not a 360. I'd seen another custom design just have to find the link to it. Another showing the process - http://theisozone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=29399&start=40 Not the one I was thinking of though. And, this one still not the one I was thinkin' of , but another slimmed ogXbox: http://theisozone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=38916
  2. Startech IDE2SAT2, HDE IDE-to-SATA at Amazon, cheaper in 2 packs, looks like the one you've shown, and KingWin ADP-06. (master only operation) and, Sabrent SBT-STDB to name a few. 2TB SATA Upgrade Tutorial at xbmc4xbox.org.uk
  3. One problem with these adapters is the exposed power connector pads on the back side. They can easily touch the HDD case and short out. Best to cover them with electrical tape or another insulating material like a conformal coating spray, etc. to prevent unwanted contact.
  4. You are correct. Previous post updated. Thanks. x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin for 1.6's and X2_5035_vOld_512k.67.bin (LBA48 67) or X2_5035_vOld_512k.bin (LBA48 06) for 1.0-1.5's
  5. Cannot confirm as I've only used the 18.5" and 24" 80-wire 40-pin cables. IDE spec states longest should be 18" so 24's pushing the spec's designated max length let alone 36". Try it as is I think I've read that other's have used 36" cables. Or,... Remove the end connector (largest gap end) cut off some cable and re=crimp it on the opposite side as shown above. The stock cable has motherboard and DVD connectors protruding from the same side but the HDD to the opposite side.
  6. The round cables are too stiff to fold to fit the case. A flat 24" cable works best flipped end-to-end compared to normal PC installation. HDD connector to motherboarfd and vice versa. A flat 18-19" cable requires many folds and twists with a tight fit. A 24" cable works much better. Connector on the left goes to the motherboard IDE header and on the right to the HDD. The DVD drive attaches to the center connector. 7. Here are a couple more pictures:
  8. Here's what I've found on the Wayback Machine (archive.org) from mod-chip.com captures: Lite version: Xapt_3r_X3_Install_V1.6_Lite.pdf As per the last page, only customers could DL the full version of this document - cuts short of contact placement and X3 modchip installation. Link said full version but only lite found: Mod-Chip.Com FULL Xapt3r 1.6 MANUAL v1.6 Maybe the link changed if you were logged into their website, but archive.org's capture software was not logged in so the Lite version is all it could capture. I've included a couple of figures from the PDF. The attached PDF contains more images and instructional text. The last image downloaded from mod-chip.com's xapt3r v1.6 catalog page - Product images: Image2. Contact E location looks different in the final picture than that shown in Figure #3. Probably an alternate location for the same signal.
  9. Joust, I suggest starting a new thread instead of continuing to use this one.
  10. This error should have nothing to do with the DVD drive unless the drive itself is holding the IDE bus and not allowing access to the HDD to load the dashboard. Or the dashboard version on the HDD is too old for the BIOS version. Reseat all of the IDE connectors: motherboard, DVD and HDD.
  11. error 13 has nothing to do with the DVD drive but the dashboard loading from the HDD not starting properly/failing and issuing this error. From http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/xbox-error-codes-explained-go-here-first.373255/: Slayer's 2.7 is available and better still HeXEn 2017 install disc with many updated tools/apps..
  12. The original Xbox DVD drives are interchangeable between all revisions v1.0-1.6.
  13. A Windows application to create/extract/FTP xISO images/files for the Xbox plus more.. Visit the download page above for a complete list of its features - similar in function to Qwix.
  14. Another StarTech device that's superior to other similar devices (vis-à-vis their IDE-to-SATA adapters for ogXbox HDD upgrades) so is their disk duplicator for Xbox HDD cloning. StarTech's duplicator docks perform sector-by-sector duplication not just partitioned filesystem/file copy duplication (although the latter method of duplication is said to be faster than sector-by-sector). Sounds like the Inateck FD2002 does the faster filesystem duplication, not sector-by-sector which doesn't work for embedded disk drive applications like cloning a 2TB SATA HDD for the Xbox console. Amazon StarTech.com 6Gbps USB 3.0/eSATA to 2.5-Inch/3.5-Inch SATA Hard Disk Drive/Solid State Drive Duplicator Dock (SDOCK2U33RE) StarTech sells 5 different devices so make sure the one you decide upon in fact does sector-by-sector duplication before buying. Another Startech dock with USB 2.0/eSATA connectivity is the StarTech.com SATA Hard Drive HDD Duplicator Dock - eSATA USB Hard Disk Drive Duplicator - 2.5 / 3.5-Inch Hard Drive Cloner on the same page linked above. Duplication method differences between SATA dual dock duplication stations mentioned here.
  15. From; http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/xbox-error-codes-explained-go-here-first.373255/ Sounds like you've installed the HDD from another Xbox in the console. Do you have many that you've removed the HDDs from and mixed Xbox motherboard/HDD combos?
  16. I'd load the unpatched official release M8plus_16.bin file in EVTool 1.0.9 again, Leave the DVD Drive Check box checked, save the BIOS .bin to a new file name and reflash the modchip. See what happens now without a DVD drive. Make sure the console refuses to boot without the DVD drive installed. Next, load this patched BIOS's .bin and uncheck the box and save to a new filename and reflash to the modchip and verify the setting changed so the Xbox boots as expected without the DVD drive.
  17. I had no problem downloading it from firedrop using TiZ's Downloads > Microsoft Xbox > Tools > c-xboxtool207 download button. Must have been a temporary network problem. I uploaded the latest 2.0.7 version to ogXbox.com's downloads:
  18. Both of the previously dead links work! Wonderful, thank you.
  19. I think Incursion64's talking about Delayload in Unleash's Config.xml file. Rocky5 posted:
  20. Most hard drives have extra (spare) sectors on each track if there are any bad sectors. Those spare sectors are mapped by the drive to replace a small number of bad sectors. Not exactly sure how many spare sectors current HDDs set aside for remapping.
  21. Windows can't read the FATX filesystem but doesn't need to. You can't access the HDD to see the contents with Windows Explorer. PC cloning software that makes a sector-by-sector copy of one HDD to another without regards to the filesystem should work for same sized HDDs. If changing drive sizes, I think PC cloning software will NOT work. Without a modchip installed, the HDD has to be locked using the Xbox's EEPROM backup (HDDKey) where the HDD will be installed.
  22. Not sure there's a 100% solderless adapter for the Aladdin XT plus 2. D0 has to be connected to the D0 point of the motherboard. As pin 4 is not used on the LPC debug header, modchips with solderless adapters routed connection to D0 through that pin on the modchip's pin header. v1.0-v1.5 LPC Debug Header V1.6 LPC Debug Header. Note via hole present for pin 4 but modchip installation instructions for v1.6 Xbox's tell you to first pull pins 4 (signal ??) and pin 6 (always on 5Vdc instead of switched as with prior Xbox versions) from the header before installation/soldering.
  23. Always the simple things that pop-up a roadblock. Glad you figured it out.
