  1. Yes, nothing else to do. Until the console is modded and a replacement dashboard is installed, the MS dashboard will look no different. It does not use the additional space. Has not access to it. The replacement dashboard installed by Rocky5's Xbox SoftmoddingTool - UnleashX - will be able to access the additional storage space.
  2. This game is available elsewhere to download. The version there seems to be ready for installation (FTPing) to the Xbox after extraction from the Quake3.rar archive.
  3. According to how damaged the traces are in and around the LPC debug port and TSOP, the console may still boot from an LPC connected modchip.
  4. I'm sure there are several people on this web site that can fix the power on problem and upgrade the hard drive. The only problem is getting the console to someone near you. Shipping each way for the console in the U.S. runs about $20 maybe more. The old thermal paste needs to be cleaned off of the CPU, GPU and associated heatsinks and replaced. Dust and other contamination inside the case removed and all the electrolytic caps need to be checked for leakage or bulging and if found, replaced with new ones. Even though the 1.6's clock cap was a higher quality than previous versions of the console, the 3 ultra-low ESR electrolytic caps next to the power supply connector on the 1.6's motherboard are not. Many are found to be leaking an orangish-brown goo out the top which can cause a multitude of problems. Check and if needed, the DVD drive laser lens cleaned, not really necessary as the hard drive should be used for applications; cough, cough, ahem games; instead of the DVD drive and/or the eject belt replaced.
  5. No need to connect it to the PC again. I know that later versions of XboxHDM, namely XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 or Beta 3, prompt you to format the F and/or G drives when working with a larger than 8GB hard drive. But, there are many ways to format the extended partitions, F and/or G drives, in the Xbox. G is not required for hard drives up to 1TB in size.
  6. It's an Xbox Memory Unit slot to USB adapter. The PCB plugs into one of the two memory unit slots on the back of an OEM Xbox controller and provides a female USB port to connect a flash drive, USB keyboard or mouse.
  7. Search for and replace/change the hex values in the game's default.xbe file. Use a Hex Editor. For Windows OS, try: - HexEdit v4.0 (main web site is offline but links below to the software) - HxD - etc. Update: Looks like www.HexEdit.com is no longer online. I've been using it for many years and didn't know the site went away. Links to download HexEdit v4.0 Old Mirror sites: dropbox.com box.com mediafire.com Verify file integrity of hexedit4_binary.zip with the following checksum values: MD5: 12A0 992F 6807 D528 CFC6 BA3E B71B F672 SHA1: 374C C2C6 27A9 BB38 51EC E446 5287 ED6A 436B A793 Values found on the Wayback Machine's capture of hexedit.com's download.aspx web page from 14 April 2018.
  8. You will not see the extra space in the MS dashboard. Only after you mod the console, soft or hard mod, and have a replacement dashboard installed will the F drive show up (if enabled in the dashboard's settings). Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool will install the replacement dashboard UnleashX. After initial installation, you can change to a different replacement dashboard if you find another one you'd prefer to use.

    Lost .Xbe

    How’d you lose them?
  10. Okay, that's the same as connecting it to pin 2 on the back of the front panel 1x9 header.

    Lost .Xbe

A game is more than an xbe file. default.xbe alone is not the complete game just the executable to start it.
  12. Any HeXEn disk will work. Some have older versions of software. It boots into UnleashX. The BIOS doesn’t format the hard drive that’s done by the dashboard or other software like XboxHDM on a PC. Thus, the need to use an installer disk. P.S. Where does the wire soldered to the BT pad on the modchip go?
  13. Is the BT wire still connect to the front panel power button signal. Without it, the long press of the power button won't do anything. There's no signal to the modchip to tell it to enable. (Pin2 on the back side of the front panel PCB through the slot in the RF shield behind the 1x9 connector.) Source: http://modzone.dk/forums/showthread.php?threadid=252
  14. HeXEn 2018 disk - folder StockFiles\c - extract the contents of the XISO image with Qwix or Clean_C_and_E_Files_for_Xbox.7z or many other locations that have a copy of the 5960 MS dashboard available online.
  15. Many forget to clean the bottom side of the motherboard when they remove the clock cap. The leaked electrolyte didn't just stay on the top but continued on till its travel was inhibited. The shielding below the motherboard or I've seen Xboxes with leaked electrolyte on the bottom plastic shell of the case. It didn't just keep itself to the top of the motherboard.
  16. Yes. You don't have to use the bios.bin backup. There are locations to download the various dev teams' modified BIOS files from the Internet. Xbins FTP server and a few web sites that have backups of the Xbins FTP server available - the-eye.eu, download.diodematrix.net
  17. Clock cap leaked electrolyte has probably damaged traces on the bottom side of the motherboard. IIRC, the outer trace (bottom of picture) is the power button signal. Next, is the eject button, then red and green LED on/off control.
  18. Yes No, you have to add the content you want to be copied to the Xbox HDD. For example, the 5960 MS dashboard files into the hdm\C folder. With E left empty, XboxHDM will create empty E:\UDATA and E:\TDATA folders on the hard drive. But, it you have game saves and/or apps you want to be preloaded add them into hdm\E. The amount of content that can be added in total to the C and E folders of XboxHDM is limited to 528MBs.
  19. Okay, looks like everything is good to go ahead and flash a new BIOS.
  20. I believed the X2 4979.06 supports hard drives up to 137GB's in size. It may allow for drives larger than that but best to update the BIOS to one of the later releases with the newest patches installed. You need to use one of the latest releases of the X2 BIOSes either 4981.67 or 4983.67 or iND-BiOSes 5003 or Beta 5004.
  21. The stock MS dashboard 5960 files are on the HeXEn 2018 disc under the StockFiles/c folder.
  22. Need to know what version of BIOS is installed and booting the console. Which dashboard are you running? Evoxdash and UnleashX both that a Settings page that shows you the kernel version installed if it's not displayed on the skin you are using.
  23. You don't need to install a softmod after the TSOP is flashed with a modified BIOS. One or the other modding techniques should be installed not both at the same time. TSOP flash acts as a hardmod install. No softmod necessary. More often than not, you'd see a blank black screen when you expect to see the replacement dashboard's menu displayed.
  24. The backup created by Evox dash is 1MB as the original Xbox's flash device is 1MB. The same BIOS.bin file is repeated 4x in a row. You can only flash a 256KB bios to your Aladdin modchip. Yes a new BIOS does nothing to the configuration of the replacement dashboard or... Hmm, what size is your Xbox's hard drive? What size were the extended partitions? Did it even have extended partitions? (F and/or G drives) Does the hard drive have a partition table written to it?
  25. Yes. The Aladdin modchip has a 256KB flash memory chip. The BIOS size will be 256KB. The higher you set the fan speed the louder it will be. You could use the iND-BiOS Feb-11-05 Beta (aka 5004) .67 version. Changing the fan speed is a matter of editing a text file on the hard drive and rebooting. Modify this line in the ind-bios.cfg file on the Xbox's hard drive: FANSPEED=10 ;Fan Speed 10-50 = 20-100% Default=10 When flashing the ind-bios to the modchip, first upload the ind-bios.cfg file to the root of the C drive before flashing the modchip.
